^^^^ The value of the set will no doubt grow over time. I would get a FBnow if you can and if the mark up isnt too bad. It will definitely gain value.

It costs between $300-$600 on average to buy the amount of pieces needed to recreate most modular building mocs. In some cases it can be much more. The way LEGO is able to price and distribute bricks isnt the same as how a secondary market will behave and you would never be able to build the mocs you speak of for around $150. Not to mention all the time it will take you to find and catalog the bricks.

Opening in 2014: Westfarms, West Hartford, CT Danbury Fair, Danbury, CT Staten Island Mall, Staten Island, NY Fashion Show, Las Vegas, NV Dates to be announced!

It shows available for me on S@H. Look, we all know this set is going to retire at the end of the year. Some of us have even had it confirmed by lego on more than one occasion that its done after 2013. That gives you a bit more than a month to order one. Get it while you can. End.

Just heard that Lego might not be making an appearance at NYCC13. Is this true? Its really upsetting news if it is. Lego was one of the major reasons why i got a ticket this year. Any one able to shed some light?

I have a somewhat rare set i wanted to see if anyone had interest in taking off my hands. I need a little extra money and i thought this would be a good way to do that plus make someone else happy with a lego set. I frequent this site and use it mostly for informational purposes. i know that if i have a questions i can usually find the answer here or at least the respective dialog. That being said i have under 100 posts BUT i would like to utilize the part of the forum thats used for trading and selling. I noticed i couldn't start a new topic so i read the member guidelines and it said its only available for long term users and for others with exception. Im starting this thread to ask if i might gain that expection. Its one set, one time, and given the rules i thought i would ask for permission. What do you guys think?

Lego Brand Store Calendars for 2013
rubberninja replied to GRogall's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Why would they mention the exclusive 4x4 technic truck if its limited to 20k and already sold out? Seems strange promoting a set that cant be purchased and presumable will never be available for purchase from their site again since it currently says sold out. So why bother including it in the september calendar? Weird. -
this is really beautiful. I really like the olive cheese slopes as the roof and i love the snot work and German flag in the front. One of my favorites by far. Well done! :)

Criteria for opening a LEGO store
rubberninja replied to Vindicare's topic in General LEGO Discussion
it would certainly be interesting to see what the criteria is because its definitely not proximity. It could be density of the population or just the whim of development and available opportunity but (at the risk of pissing off a lot of you) I can count a rather large number of LEGO stores that are reasonably close and accessible to my area (I live in northern NJ). We have one in Elizabeth, NJ 15 min from my town. One in Paramus, about 30 mins away, one in the Palisades mall by Nyack,NY thats about an hour away, one just opened in freehold NJ which is an hr south, and one in white planes ny which is about a hour and 20 min drive, then theres the one in NYC which is 40 mins away by either car or train and one in bridgewater which is about 40 mins from me.... Theres actually more i just think I've made my point. I dont understand WHY some countries entirely would be left out and my immediate area would be so lucky as to have 7+ within a small area. The ONLY thing that i can see justifying it is the density of population which falls into the target demographic and since theres a lot of opportunity for sales they keep opening more. I was at 2 separate grand openings in the past week and both had very long lines to get in the store, so the demand is there. It's all a lot to think about but in the end America is LEGO's biggest market right now, if im not mistaken, and nurturing that market is a great way to remain profitable. NOW thats not to say lego store opportunities in europe or elsewhere wouldn't be a good way to build lego BUT one step at a time. Remember you guys get all the good official stuff. I can only dream about taking a tour of the factory or being able to attend all those great european LEGO/AFOL related events you euro blokes have. But not to go tit for tat, the grass will always be greener on the other side. At the end of the day we all still find a way to get our hands on the LEGO we want right? Thats plenty to be grateful for imo. -
'ATLAS mini model' reaches 10K on Cuusoo!
rubberninja replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
hey everyone lets get in line to buy the new lego cylinder set! lol Thats all it is, a shape. -
Kristal, I am almost done with my CC and I wanted to let you know how rewarding and enjoyable a build it was/is. I would recommend anyone to purchase the instructions from your bricklink store. I am enjoying the build very much. I really love it. Steller job :)

People who judge which set or theme you buy or are into.... for whatever reason. To each their own! Having an opinion is one thing but judging the person for it is annoying.

'ATLAS mini model' reaches 10K on Cuusoo!
rubberninja replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Look im not trying to start a flame war about a lego set but your assumptions are disappointing. My background knowledge about ATLAS is not the issue and there is certainly no way you could ever know the extent of it so...... My above comment is just my opinion. Its irritating to me because it has 0 character and thats a quality i value in sets. No doubt the actuall item they are replicating is a great scientific feat etc but in essence it is a large machine comprised of generic shape etc. It has no greater identity. Its a cylender when you make it into lego. No doubt its shape suits the purpos of the machine but its not very nice to look at. The amount of creativity i see on cuusoo is vast and to have this reach review just because it has to do with science is also irritating. Also justifying the production because a small handful of people might be working on it and like a small replica is unjustified in an of itself. The appeal isn't there for me and neither is the excitement of the design itself. Again this is all my opinion but i dont think im being to harsh about it. I might be a bit blunt but Im pretty confidant im not alone in my opinion. Sorry if it got under your skin. -

'ATLAS mini model' reaches 10K on Cuusoo!
rubberninja replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Insulting or not I completely agree. This is a pointless and irritating submission, considering the amount of projects on cuusoo that are actually worthy of production. Just like a BttF car without minifigures is equally disappointing. -
New Lego stores opening in 2013
rubberninja replied to rubberninja's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Freehold opening was good. The place was stocked to the 9's with sets and they had more than the announced 300 mini store promo sets so everyone who wanted one got one. I def saw more AFOLs than children BUT thats not a bad thing or anything, just an observation. I was good to see the adults who are enthusiastic about lego spreading the love to younger generations. Nice store and nice mall! -
