  1. Yes, a bunt is a home run in lego city . The stadium is huge. It on a large 48x48 wrapped with four more half plates. No way to make it any bigger, although, I do agree, the outfield is a bit small.
  2. I finally found some room to do a full service gas station and automatic car wash.
  3. Here are some photos of my new Police Station. It's a three story modular. The lower floor is the garage. The second floor is the offices. The offices are secure from people that are being booked or making reports. If prisoners need to be booked, they will be brought in past the bullet proof wall and taken up to the third floor jail via the secure stairway. The third floor has two full size jail cells and two holding cells plus an interrogation room and a room behind the interrogation room on the other side of a two way mirror. There is also access to the roof via a secure roof vault door for the swat helicopter.
  4. So we finally finished the baseball stadium! I think it turned out nice and will be placing it in the city soon. It is called Lego Field which is home to the Lego City Stackers. The visiting team is the Brickville Clutchers. Luckily we have a few lego stores in the DC area and they have had the players jerseys and hats in the bins. The stadium has ticket booths, concessions etc. The footprint of the stadium is much larger than it looks in the photos, so I think it will be a great addition to our lego city. Thoughts?
  5. Thanks for the explanation. I suppose that makes sense and I can see why you would want to keep this forum lego only. I thought maybe this could be exception because I got this for a gift and wanted to incorporate it. While there are lots of lego competitors, I don’t really think of OYO as competition to lego, but more of a compliment. Totally different market (adult sports collectors). As a matter of fact, I have a couple hundred dollars of Lego invested in this stadium that I probably would never have done had it not been for the OYO baseball figures and now I’m trying to get all the parts to finish it out with a lego field and lego players. So when I get that done, I will post it again. It’s good to know that brickarms etc are fine. I will get some photos of my police station on the forum soon.
  6. Yea, pretty amazing. I have a city that probably has 100,000 lego pieces. So does this stadium (which is 100% lego outside the field and players) ruin my entire city? Silly. I have shown it to many lego enthusiasts and they all like it. I also have a MOC of a three story modular police headquarters. But it has a set of aftermarket SWAT team cops from brickarms I think. Should I remove those before showing it to this forum? Serious question. I’m was going to make a thread about that MOC, I think people will like it, but do I need to remove the SWAT guys first? The SWAT and baseball field are the only non lego components in our entire city. My son does have some military sets from OXFORD although they are not part of our city.
  7. It's a lego MOC around a non lego field, which I will eventually replace with real legos.
  8. Thanks everybody! This makes me fell much better. We spent a lot of time on this and really like it, but having I really wanted it to be all lego. Lego needs to come out with something besides cops and firemen. I did order some of the new baseball player minifigs that I may use as the other team or at least as some of the fans etc. Lego City Stackers? I'm glad you guys like the stadium. I will have to take some more photos once I get it placed into the city. I do have a few blue seats left!
  9. Hello everybody. It's been a while since I have posted. I have made several new structures and modulars, but recently finished building a baseball stadium for my city after getting a OYO set. I'm a huge MLB fan and a Royals fan (originally from KC), so I took the OYO set and built a stadium around it. I could easily replace the field with legos the rest of the stadium (like the rest of my entire lego city) is 100% lego. So first, I would like your opinion of the stadium. My 15 year old son and built it together. I don't think the photos do it justice, it's huge and ate up a ton of our spare legos to build. Second, what do you think of using OYO? Are we terrible people? Have I committed a lego afol crime? Regardless, I think the stadium will look great in our city and it should be a very popular addition. Here are some photos:
  10. We don't make videos too often, but since we have finished the airport and transit center, I asked my son to do an overview video. So here is an update for those interested.
  11. Thanks for all the comments! The lego shop will show up later in another location for sure! Yea, we have some videos, my son just made a brand new overview video if you want to check it out: We have redesigned it many times! haha, well, our lego city has yet to have a natural disaster, but maybe that would liven things up
  12. Well, I took parts and ideas from several sets and built a transit center. Now my lego city residents have one downtown station for access to monorail to the airport, red passenger local trains and horizon express commuter trains. You enter the station through one entry point and then proceed to either purchase tickets or directly to one of three separate platforms via a sky bridge. The station also has a city bus stop and bicycle parking. I though it turned out nice. The set 60050 train station released this year has some nice parts. What do you think?
  13. Love this. Very professional looking and one of the better moc transit buses I have seen. I didn't even see the normal bus. It's pretty cool, but I really like the articulated bus.
  14. Thanks, we have had a lot of fun envisioning how to put it all together! Well, I started early too. My 13 year old had many sets starting at just a few years old, he kept all the sets and pieces and ten years later, we have this out of control monster. Well, it is the end of the line, so it stops there, but all it takes is the switch to be set wrong and they go swimming, but so far no accidents. We have had some crashes with the other trains though! I actually didn't get the monorail till last year. Is was the one set I have not gotten while it was for sale in retail stores. I bought a complete set for about $400 as a Christmas present and bought a bunch of spare parts and track to add to it and build another train, I actually have quite a bit of track that I have no room for. It was worth every penny, that monorail really takes the city to the next level and brings it all together. Both my sons are into aviation. My 13 year old pretty much did the design of the runway by himself and we both knew the threshold was not quite right etc, but it looks good getting the approach lighting into the runway just gives it some nice detail. He also did the control tower. My older son (17) did most of the airport and jetway. I do most of the overall city layout and have done most of the other MOCs around the city, but they have both stepped up on the airport. Wish we had more room, but a good pilot can avoid obstacles right? Thanks, yea, the original airport terminal is one of our older sets. It's actually gone through several mods. Yep. I think it's five of them. There may be one more in the back under the parking garage. I was at a lego store one day and it's hard to pay what those big baseplates cost, but I decided to go ahead and get some and that's what set off doing the runway. Once we had the baseplates, we had to tile them :). The scale turned out pretty good. That commuter jet fits perfectly on the runway, but some of the bigger jets and cargo planes are a bit big. We may try to squeeze in a taxiway or apron on the other side of the runway so we have a place to park more planes. yes, very playable. It helps that it's somewhat easier to access compared to other parts of the city too. Thanks everybody for the comments! I can post more pics of the city here or start a new thread if people are interested. I took a bunch of photos of other parts of the city while taking the airport photos.
  15. We (myself and teen aged kids) are wrapping up the bulk of the airport area of our city, so I thought I would post some pics. This has been a really fun project. We put a lot of thought into it and I think it turned out nice and is very playable yet as realistic as possible. So here goes: Overall shot of new runway. The wall has the gray tiles so we cleaned them out. We added the approach lighting and bearing markings with white tiles and flat clear and red pieces. While this is not exactly to FAA standards, we thought the detail of the markings would look nicer especially since we have no room for the actual lighting in advance of the runway. Here you can see the fire station area and general aviation area. We would like to add a hanger and fire station structure in the future. overall shot showing the runway, tower and gen aviation area is secure. Here is the commercial terminal area. It's a bit crowded, but we used the space as efficiently as possible. The jetway moves and extends. Main entrance to terminal. The parking garage is right next door. Here you can see the airport monorail station is just on the other side of the rail road bridges. The terminal has all the stuff a terminal should have, ticketing, screening, baggage check, seating. The top floor of the garage has been converted to a heliport. But there is a large surface parking lot behind the garage, so still plenty of parking Here are some more pics of the airport and a few of how it ties into the rest of the city. You can drive to the airport from downtown, but it's a long drive through the suburban and industrial areas to get there or you can take transit and it's one stop across the bay. Hope you enjoy the photos. Comments welcome, we are always looking for improvements. Thanks!
  16. Well, here is a recent video of the city (before I modified the house). And yes, the light still works!
  17. But there is a nice park across the street. Life in the big city!
  18. These look great, too bad I'm running low on most of the needed parts to create something like this.
  19. Thanks, I'm out of room though, so this is why I have to go up! Yea, I'm not sure if it's an architectural accent or defect :). No quite sure how or if I will attempt to modify though. Good idea on moving the door, will have to do that.
  20. Hello all. Just thought I would share some pics of a modified "Family House" set 31012. I really liked the basic design of the house, but it was just a bit small and got lost in my city. So with some extra parts, I widened it, added another floor and added some interior details. While it's nothing amazing, I think it now stands out much better in the city. What do you think? Original set:
  21. Yea, I spent some money on getting the monorail, but it's worth every penny. I think it's what makes the entire layout interesting and takes it to a whole different level.
  22. PF. I'm relatively new to lego trains.
  23. At firist I was going to push the tables against the walls, but I'm now glad I left room. There is room to access the back corners. The side where the rail yard is, you can walk back there, it's only about 16 inches, but you can do it. The other corner, the table is not that deep and wraps around the room so you can easily access that as well after you duck under the bridges to get over there. I have had several crashes, the bigger problem is finding all the parts under the table. I had the horizon express take off on me once at full speet and flew off at a corner while the freight train just happened to also be coming around the corner in the opposite direction and both trains flew into the mini blinds. Too bad I didn't get that on video.
  24. Thanks, I couldn't figure out how to do it. We are lucky to have an extra bedroom that can be dedicated to something like this. I can't imagine having all that packed away, but I also don't move it (shows etc).
  25. If anybody is interested, I made a new video of my lego city with the trains running. I think I'm finally done with the basic layout of the rail yard, tracks and stations throughout the city. I added my final station for the emerald express to have its own platform since the local red train and the horizon express share the multi-level platform near the water. I'm starting to run out of room (again), but I do plan to expand the set by a few sq feet soon and I want to add the new white passenger train coming out this year. Sorry the video is not the best, if anybody has any ideas to how to make a better video (or lego city), please feel free! Here is the video
