  1. I agree, the Hobbit/LotR is a theme based of ruins, caves, woods and buildings. If I think realistic ( and now I want to think realistic) -than based LEGO's main focus of the different minifigures (peoples). Caves, trees and ruins are easy to create. We will see a lot of sets like the "Endor Battle Packs" or "POTC Cannibal Escape". With very good minifigures will these sets be successful enough. Yes, please! Maybe including the hobbit tavern "The Green Dragon" (with Rosie Cotton ), the small bridge and the old "Water Mill". I think, CREATOR for SW or HP would at the time be very popular. For example a modular Death Star CREATOR Canyon set with a wall and guns for the Death Star Battle scene were the Tie's to hunt the X-Wing's would sell very well. You could buy this CREATOR set 3x times and put it (alike the modular houses) in a line. Also a Endor Village set. One CREATOR tree house for 3x versions and you can build a nice Ewok village.... The CREATOR sets are even not popular because LEGO these don't develop for SW. Why? -I have no idea. I think it is more risk if you develop a set what you would buy just 1x time. Why shall TLG don't give you a reason to buy this set 3x times?
  2. Maybe shall TLG at first the buildings to shelve and at the 1.st wave to release just scenes by caves, holes, ruins... I mean scenes like: Saurons Destiny & Isildur's Bane (LEGO set with small rocks), Nazugul attack at Weather Top (ruin) and also at Ford of Bruinen (rocks including river) against Arwen and her water horses, shining Moria Gate with Watcher, Balins Tomb with Cave troll, Balrog scene, Amon Hen (good sound ruin set), Bilbos Party with fireworkdragon.... So has LEGO no hecticness and can calmly for the second wave develop the first buildings like Isengard or Rivendell (just examples). ->If LEGO develops really well designed buildings iclusive beautiful minifigures, than want everybody these sets! (See for example as role model function the Diagon Alley, this set is also very well designed and has perfect minifigures.) Meanwhile could TLG think about the "Battle Packs". By "The Hobbit" and "the Lord of the Rings" we get a lot of armies. My absolut favorite army at LOTR is the "Army of the Dead". Those guys alike shining LEGO figures would be the killer! For "The Hobbit" I've at the time no idea. Maybe I will prefer the Mirkwood-elves. I don't know... Which armies would you prefer? ^^
  3. Middle-earth do not need massive sets. Middle-earth need innovative sets. Do you like Isengard? Thanks CREATOR TLG don’t need to take big risks and has not to develop so gigantic LEGO sets like the Death Star. For example we imagine the Orthanc (Sarumans Isengart Tower) as a CREATOR set. The tower is to develop to a smaller format (for a 70 €/$ set) without the main characters Saruman and Grima Wormtongue. Those main characters are enclosed in a small 15 €/$ set “Sarumans Throne room” including with an small magic shining Palantir (gobstopper). For figure collectors get the tower set 2x rare Orc and Uruk-hai commander figures with changeable faces and 1x rare warg rider. In addition get the tower a construction manual for three different tower sizes. Customers who are like willing to spend a lot of money for very large LEGO sets have now an additional incentive. Designed LEGO this tower to a 70 €/$ set and give that set two instructions for two larger tower sizes extra, than will those customers buy this “one” developed CREATOR set “two or three” times. The effect is that TLG haven’t developed a risky expensive set and get now a “win to win” situation because some customers want to buy this CREATOR set three times. And with changing faces for the “grand and rare” figures is that no problem. CREATOR sets are a kind big "variable" bricks. With some modular CREATOR sets you can build whole abstract areas. And if you want a area complete -than you have to buy many modular Creator sets; (to put it the other way round) TLG sell to you those CREATOR sets a bunch of times. And that is very good business! Is TLG innovative; -than is Middle-earth for the company a modern money machine. Is TLG not innovative and keep conservative; -than need the company no money...
  4. Sounds realistic, but I'm a little surprised. May 2012 is really early -but as ap. I think we could get 5x waves: Summer 2012 LotR: The Fellowship of the Ring (first infos/pics at Toy Fair New Jork February 2012) Winter 2012/13 Hobbit: An unexpected journey Summer 2013 LotR: The Two Towers Winter 2013/14 Hobbit: There and back again Summer 2014 LotR: The Return of the King I think these 5x waves are really realistic.
  5. I'm also speachless. That is an absolut amazing MOC with many many details. The lights looks in dark concerning with those colors simply perfect. What I also love are some funny scenes like the falling Stormtrooper and the sign for the wet black bottom. ->Also the wall including with all created details. The wall looks with those technic elements in combination with some lights amazing. The small room where Darth Vader and Kenobi fighting looks as small extra to the hangar also good. This scene has the right size and the small wall looks with the small white 1x2 bricks also fantastic. I have no more to say as you have maked a very very good job! Elander
  6. That is really very sad that complete transparent minifigures not works. For the inversible ringbearers Frodo & Bilbo (if they carry the ring) would this technic simply perfect. I still hope that TLG will discover/develop for the body connection parts a better material like "polycarbonate". Meanwhile I've found a nice body with good technic elements for the Balrog. Okay, that is not the Balrog, but general are those figures (like this example) fit for creatures like the Balrog. The only thing what those figures additional need are more "natural" body elements. Those creatures must look like real creatures and no like robots. Maybe it is possible additional to add the Balrog with an small extra. And while we're on the subject of robots... I like this Roboter. You can see, this guy has a bricklight. If LEGO put this bricklight inside the body and connect this bricklight with some transparent bricks/elements in fire colors, so can LEGO to create an bigger source of illumination. I mean, a shining body with transparent bricks/elements in different fire colors and normal dark bricks/technic elements and also a shining head with transparent bricks/elements for eyes and mouth; and normal dark bricks for the rest of his head. Are you with me? And as the ultimate could LEGO to connect the transparent bricks/technic elements from inside the body in transparent-line to both hands. By the transparent hands can the Balrog take a transparent yellow sword and an transparent yellow lash. And if you to power on the bricklight -so shines the Balrog in orange/yellow/red fire colors additional with the fire lash and the fire sword. ...I hope that was not too over the top.
  7. I think it is very unrealistic that Hobbit/LotR replace Harry Potter, PotC aaaand additional Kingdoms. That are whole three themes for just one. And IF indeed LotR/Hobbit replace Kingdoms -than it is the first time in LEGOs history that we get really the chance for an antiquity theme with romans, greeks and other folks. Yeah! And that would be too epic! I see the antiquity minifigures in the "Minifigure Series" and those are brilliant!
  8. My little conspiracy theory: I believe the fantasy “Castle” line was 2009 broke up for the (at this time) possible Hobbit/LOTR license starting 2012. Between the two fantasy lines needed TLG a kind of buffer (here a “non-fantasy” line). I think that is the reason why TLG has never produced a complete elves-folk (although everybody want it) and has instead elves -started “Kingdoms” without fantasy stuff. LEGO has with regard to the upcoming Tolkien license never produced an elves-line and has needed as time-buffer “Kingdoms” for a non-fantasy line. Now I get your public anger.^^
  9. I believe at the Toy Fair in Nürnberg or in New York (February 2012) we will see the first pics. (Maybe an Bilbo who is (à la Jack Sparrow) riding an donkey -or we will see whole LEGO sets à la Harry Potter 2010. I prefer the Harry Potter variant.
  10. Yepp, the ents are perfect! Here I can see my dream about an CREATOR ent battle-pack. An CREATOR ent set for this style would be soo epic. The body remains for 3x different ent-versions constant. The ents need just changing options for some different marks. For example diffrernt foot, nose or beard-sizes. And as an extra some changing color options (some different green or brown surrogate-bricks). Damn, that would be the best creature creator set of all time.
  11. She said in the video that WB is planning a LEGO Hobbit Videogame for (end)2012/2013. Hmmm, maybe she means another "LA Times interview"? Sorry, I've no idea.(I trust "theonering.net". Over the last 10 years was "theonering.net" pretty confirmed. That would be the first time that they are wrong.) I think in this article they talked just about the "Master Toy License" for the Hobbit. Ok, "The Bridge Direct" gets the expensive master license. LEGO needs at first a license for just 10-15 Sets (2x waves for 2012 and 2013) and TT-Games for "one" Videogame. If LEGO Hobbit will to be a success -I think than would LEGO to buy an license for more sets?! (Games Workshop has the license for the Hobbit too.) EDIT: @ Mirandir was earlier...
  12. theonering.net: Warner Brothers Interactive says a LEGO ‘Hobbit’ videogame is in the works
  13. "I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner. Now I am the Master." "Only a master of evil, Darth." Before Kenobi was died deactivated he the tractor beam. That was for Luke, Han and the others the only way to escape by the Millennium Falcon from the Death Star. Enjoy! Greets Elander
  14. Yepp, you are right. My ship is not "exact" the movie version. I was a bit innovative and have built wiith my one's own style. I think it was a good idea to give this ship a "ripped" style. So looks the Black Pearl a bit creepier. I should have written "Moonlight Version" instead of "Twilight Version". I believe that sounds better.^^ Thanks for your comments! I've shoot a lot of photos by my created ghost-pirates. I hope you like those. And at last two thumbnails for the next photo wave: The internal rooms from the Black Pearl. Greets Elander
  15. Don't panic @ Klaus Dieter At first have the "adventure/fantasy license" theme LotR/Hobbit to replace the old "adventure/fantasy license" themes Harry Potter and PotC. After that we can talk about the classic core theme castle -but if in that case LotR/Hobbit shall really rival to castle than opens other new possibilities. And who would not like a new Wild West/or Roman Empire theme in 2012? And LotR/Hobbit? -That theme is fantastic. TLG develops for license themes really good new molded bricks -and exact those new bricks and accessoires are for future fantasy themes really welcome! (And so incidentally, -LotR/Hobbit is really a great license and I believe you would like some sets -as soon as you see those sets.) I have in that case no problem to give castle a short time out. For me are other historical themes a welcome change. (And additional is LotR/Hobbit my favorite theme; but that is no secret) EDIT: UUppss: @ Sirens-Of-Titan was earlier; exactly my words.
  16. Maybe you are right, if the license theme LEGO LotR/Hobbit competing to the castle theme. –Than to emerge complete new possibilities. Maybe is the perfect time for an LEGO ancient world/ or for a “Wild West”-theme next year. In that case would it very interesting to watch what comes!? At the time develops LEGO the themes “Pharaohs Quest” and “Atlantis” –those both themes to imply some proper bricks for real ancient themes. And the perfect thing is –you can to combinate those ancient cultures. Also “Ninja Go” –I believe a real Asia-theme would by the most of you really welcome. Ok, now I’m a bit excited. I believe next year could become a most interesting year. Lego could at the time to look for absolute new horizons… Hmmm, what would you in that case prefer? -Asia, Wild West, an ancient world -or after all more castle sets? -For me it is hard to decide. ^^ -I personally think -I’ve enough castle sets. Damn, a real Wild West theme including (for example) real Indian cultures, or North/South-States soldiers (Civil war) and a lot of cowboys/bandits/settlers could be also epic. A LEGO Mississippi steamboat would be the real kicker. Possible building sets give it more as enough: Cowboy Ranch, modular houses for a modular western city, silver mine, rail station, a Mexican Tequila tavern with musicians… -or “Colonization” sets including the first settlers. Those sets are combinable with different Indian cultures (Maya/Inker) and can to add with “old” Pirates sets (earlier LEGO Pirates lines). A Spain Armada ship laden with Inker treasures would be additional welcome. I personally would prefer a Battle-Pack concerning the American Independence War with some independence fighters and British soldiers (inclusive Dragoons). But a large ancient theme would be also fantastic. For example could the theme “The Battle of Troy” (including the Horse of Troy) -or also “Alexander the Great” against Persia and later India (including war elephants) interesting Battle-Packs. -Where we yet speaks about “war elephants”. Although I am German is “Hannibal” with his Carthage war elephants against the Roman Empire my personally favorite ancient battle theme. If we here talk about buildings –than is for me the “Limes” with some Roman- and German minifigures transformed into an LEGO “version” my little highlight. But also I like to see a gladiator school, a theater with actors and all other classic ancient buildings… …I have no idea which theme I shall prefer!?^^ Ok, that was a massive collection of possibilities (looks like a wishlist) if LEGO really stop the Kingdom line. I would just share you what for new options to open if LEGO develops a new historic theme. And in that case I think all kids would those historic themes also love like their parents. And I think you too, -or not? But one last question I still have: Why develops TLG the action/adventure themes “Ninja Go”, “Pharaohs Quest” and “Atlantis” at the same time if they could “one” of those action themes to transform into a real historic “ancient” or “Asia” theme? -Is real history too uncool?
  17. “LotR/Hobbit” is a fantasy/adventure license theme. “Harry Potter and PotC” are both fantasy/adventure license themes too. I reckon that “LotR/Hobbit” will replace “Harry Potter and PotC” and not the core non-license theme “Kingdoms”. It is to discern between license themes and traditional non-license themes. I think more that LEGO will keep the major theme (historical) Castle and could (maybe) add additional a historical theme(*). “LotR/Hobbit” and “Kingdoms” will together also good works like “Star Wars” and “Mars Mission” or other space-themes… And my God, why do you think that the next historical castle theme get a bad quality if LotR/Hobbit sets come out? Maybe appears 2012 a historical castle non-license theme with “Black Falcons/Forestmen” sets together with a “LotR/Hobbit” license theme?! Come on, you must do think more positive. TLG develops for license themes wonderful new molded bricks. And “LotR/Hobbit” is really a fantastic fantasy license theme. If TLG now (2012-2014) to produce those new bricks for that license theme. –Than I see in future better non-license fantasy themes. And those non-license fantasy themes will be no compare to Castle (2007-2009). Yep, those fantasy-themes (based on “LotR/Hobbit”) will get many new molded bricks and accessories for elves, orcs and dwarfs. (*) I think at the time (direct after “PotC” and “Pirates”) is a new traditional pirates theme no realistic. I believe another historical themes like “Roman/Greeks” or “Wild West” are more realistic.
  18. Hi, I remember the time when Playmobil developed white figures to be used for paint. That was an nice idea. At the time I see lots of different very good customized LEGO minifigures around the LEGO forums. Here I think could TLG develop nice paintable minifigures and accessories. Apt for this idea could be brushes (like Games Workshop) or fineness felt pens. (For example) develops TLG the "Minifigure series". -What do you think about a new "paintable" minifigure series with paintable accessories? Or (also) could TLG develop those white minifigures generally for different themes. -Or what do you think about paintable animals, creatures or aliens? I believe those ideas could to be successful and we get fun.
  19. Hi, your small cannons and black sails are very good! But not only the cannons, -all details are very very good. I believe the corded ladder was not simple. Well done work here. Also I like the lots of cheasts and other stuff on board this ship. Overall we have a lot of things to see. Good work! Elander
  20. Hi, your boat is very well. I like the blue/white colours and the classic design. The sails are in good preservation!

    Fort Royal

Thanks for your comments! This shall be a ordinary fort for a combat-ready Armada company. Ok, now I to see it too. -Just one canon is not enough. Next time give it more. My commander has a small room beside the tavern. For an commander too small. -> The next fort get an bigger room for the commander.
  22. No, please not the "Twilight"-saga. This is the Black Pearl from the first movie: "The course of the Black Pearl". I tried to transform my LEGO-skeletons into "Ghost"-pirates. I hope that had worked. That is the scene were Maria Swan figure out that "ghosts" living on board these ship.^^ I think with tatter sales look this ship better. I hope you think so too? Greeds Elander
  23. 108C Hi, today I want to share you my Black Pearl in "twilight style".
