A kill does negate the action. He would have scanned someone, but never would have seen the result of the scan. And yes, a player can block the same person constantly. If Adventurer1 had PMed someone from the grave, she would have failed instantly and most likely been unable to play mafia on Eurobricks.

I think I might be retiring the Excalibur theme for awhile. At least until Excalibur: Explorer, in which the ship is sent 80,000 lightyears from Earth by the Purists.

When this game was going to be an "Advanced Mafia", the blocker and protector roles were combined. I used the rationale that the blocker would lock the player in their room, and thus protect them as well. Also dropped from the game from the switch to Mafia School was the setting. The game was initially set to take place on the U.E.N. Excalibur - D to keep more in line with The Next Generation vibe that I was setting up for the game. The final change was the removal of a secret neutral party. The new version was supposed to take place about a hundred years down the road from the original Excalibur game, so we would have found alien life by that time and made first contact. The scum team would have been xenophobic cultists (I'm so creative), with the classic League of Purists as neutral Mafia Cultists. As a final lesson, in the game of Mafia, sometimes the neutral third party players are a Cult. A cult can recruit one player every night, but if their godfather is killed, they're disbanded and sent back to their original teams or are killed, depending. Naturally, all of that was dropped to accommodate a Mafia School game.

If Adam was the final scum he would have won because he technically would have outnumbered the town. it's complicated. I would have had to have consulted the Game Gods about the current procedure regarding two killers targeting each other. In the past, a coin was flipped, but I don't think that's how it works in today's games.

Night Actions: Night One Actions Tohst – Kill: Isaac Osborne / TheLazyChicken - Success Dragonfire – Block: Emma Lane / vampyre78 - Failure, Dragonfire is killed Adventurer1 – Investigate: Adam Powers / jluckhaupt - Success, jluckhaupt is a Loyalist Lego3364 – Block: Emily Goodwin / Dragonfire - Success? Dragonfire is killed anyway Lego Spy – Kill: Emily Goodwin / Dragonfire - Success Comrade Commander - Rolecop: Fred Rhodes / adventurer1 - Success, adventurer1 is the Loyalist Investigator Night Two Actions Tohst – Kill: Emma Lane / Vampyre78 - Success Adventurer1 – Investigate: Jordan Foster / Comrade Commander - Failure, Adventurer1 is killed Lego3364 – Block: Fred Rhodes / Adventurer1 - Success? Adventurer1 is killed anyway. Another case of the scum teams weird block - kill maneuver. Comrade Commander - Kill: Fred Rhodes / adventurer1 - Success Night Three Actions Tohst – Kill: Timothy Daniels / Calanon - Success Lego3364 – Kill: Jeff Yates / Getdamonkey - Success Night Actions were not collected on Night Four since the final scum had been lynched. However, I guess it can be inferred that Tohst would have killed jluckhaupt since they were the only two left. Most certainly.

Yes. That type of "complicated" role is usually reserved for a veteran game. I don't think I've seen one like that on Eurobricks though.

Excalibur TNG: Mafia School Conclusion: All Good Things... The remaining students had decided to vote out Warren Thompson / Lego3364. "I'm innocent." he said simply. But as a guard went to put the cuffs on him, he whipped out his phaser! "Aha!" he said. "Reach for the skies!" But a shot rang out... Willie Spencer / Tohst, the Loyalist Vigilante, has killed Warren, the last remaining Purist! "Where were you keeping that phaser?" Adam asks. "Don't worry about it." "Well done to both of you. I'm very proud that you've managed the root out the remaining Purist Scum." Bob says. "Can't you do something about the other Loyal students that have died?" Willie asks. "What makes you think I can do anything?" "You've been the host for games as far back as the Prohibition Era to now the Space Age. I think you've got some magical powers." And so all the loyal students are resurrected thanks to the power of love! Also the fact that they're easily re-assembled helps. ~~~ Congratulations to the two survivors of Excalibur TNG: Mafia School! Tohst and jluckhaupt! Also congratulations to the Loyalist Team! ~~~ Players: Survivors: Adam Powers - Played By: jluckhaupt - Vanilla Loyalist Willie Spencer - Played By: Tohst - Loyalist Vigilante The Dead: Melinda Fox - Played By: Xenophobic Monoxide - Voted off Day One, Vanilla Loyalist Issac Osborne - Played By: TheLazyChicken - Phasered on Night One, Vanilla Loyalist Emily Goodwin - Played By: Dragonfire - Blown up on Night One, Loyalist Blocker Greg Kennedy - Played By: Lego Spy - Lynched Day Two, League of Purist Killer Fred Rhodes - Played By: Adventurer1 - Shot on Night Two, Loyalist Investigator Emma Lane - Played By: vampyre78 - Killed by rocks and water on Night Two, Vanilla Loyalist Jordan Foster - Played By: Comrade Commander - Voted off on Day Three, League of Purists Role-Cop Timothy Daniels - Played By: Calanon - Drank poison on Night Three, Vanilla Loyalist Jeff Yates - Played By: Getdamonkey - Shot on Night Three, Vanilla Loyalist Warren Thompson - Played By: lego3364 - Lynched on Day Four, League of Purist Blocker Here's the deadboard for players that are dead: http://123.writeboar...x2dxgkj32tns8xg password: ohnoyoudied Host Reflections: At the end of most of my games, I usually leave a spot where I reflect on the game and also make note of things that I'd change given the opportunity to go back and do it again. Firstly, I'd most likely remove the town vigilante and replace that role with the Doctor/Protector role instead. Three people dying every day in hindsight was much to much, and while I did include a blocker on both sides, it did little to prevent the carnage that ensued. Secondly, I'd change the way I handled voting. I'd still make voting mandatory, because doing that ensures that not only does everyone actively participate in voting, but it's also an easy way for me to check that a player has posted at least once. However, what I would change is the way the lynch was decided. I did the "most votes" method, which hasn't happened as much recently. In hindsight, I should have gone with a majority rules. That also would have lessened the losses. Those were the only two things that really bothered me once I had set the rules. I realized I made these "mistakes" sometime around Day Two, but by then it was much too late. Anyone may post here! Please leave comments, criticisms, praise, heated remarks, walls of text, or tomatoes below! Grades and player evaluations will be up shortly! You may also post your role PM here!

Excalibur TNG: Mafia School Day Four: Power Play Timothy Daniels / Calanon was sitting on the floor of the lounge, extremely drunk and depressed. "What? I had to vote off my closest friend yesterday, and in addition, most of my other friends are dead." Yeah, that would get me too. "Well, I came here to kill you, but this is just sad." "I know. What is this, a Mafia or a Mystery? Just kill me and get it over with." "Just poison me with that mysterious chemical that's been sitting on that table since the Confirmation Thread." Timothy said. So the mysterious figure poured the chemical into Timothy's drink. "Cheers, friend." And Timothy drank the booze mixed with chemicals. And he died. Jeff Yates / getdamonkey came into the room to find Timothy lying dead on the ground. "Oh wow. He's dead. Poor guy. Wait, I'm being shown. I know what that means." "It means you're going to die, I'm afraid." And that was the end of Jeff. "Once again you voted off the right person, but you managed to mess it up at night. Jordan Foster / Comrade Commander was a member of the League of Purists. However, both Timothy Daniels / Calanon and Jeff Yates / getdamonkey were Loyalists. Keep up the good work today." ~~~ Players: Command School: Warren Thompson - Played By: lego3364 Medical School: Adam Powers - Played By: jluckhaupt Sciences School: Willie Spencer - Played By: Tohst The Dead: Melinda Fox - Played By: Xenophobic Monoxide - Voted off Day One, Loyalist Issac Osborne - Played By: TheLazyChicken - Phasered on Night One, Loyalist Emily Goodwin - Played By: Dragonfire - Blown up on Night One, Loyalist Greg Kennedy - Played By: Lego Spy - Lynched Day Two, League of Purist Fred Rhodes - Played By: Adventurer1 - Shot on Night Two, Loyalist Emma Lane - Played By: vampyre78 - Killed by rocks and water on Night Two, Loyalist Jordan Foster - Played By: Comrade Commander - Voted off on Day Three, League of Purists Timothy Daniels - Played By: Calanon - Drank poison on Night Three, Loyalist Jeff Yates - Played By: Getdamonkey - Shot on Night Three, Loyalist Reserves: 1) nstickney Rules: 1) Every player has received their own character. You are either aligned as a Loyalist or the League of Purists. The Loyalists need to eliminate the League of Purists and the League of Purists need to outnumber the town. 2) Every day you will be able to vote for a player. Voting should be done as so: Vote: Character (Player). Unvoting is to be done in the same fashion: Unvote: Character (Player). A majority vote is required to lynch a player. You must vote every day. 3) A game day will last 72 hours. You may not vote within the first 24 hours of the day. Once the day is over, you will have 24 hours to send in a night action if this applies to you. Nights will last at most 48 hours. You may not talk about the game outside of the day thread. 4) The alignment of players who have been lynched, as well as those who died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day. 5) You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to you by the game host via PM. This includes the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage. 6) You are encouraged to role-play in this game. I've provided a bare-bones role for you to flesh out if you wish. With that being said, please do not post out of character in the game thread. You may PM other players, but do so at your own risk. 7) If you die, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any players, living or dead. Any information you had is null and void and is not allowed to be passed on. 8) Don't edit your posts. 9) You must post in every day thread. 10) Try to be nice to your fellow players. I won't accept overt bullying. 11) Violation of your first rule will result in a 4-vote penalty, your second violation will result in your death. Since this is a Mafia School, I will try to be lenient, but the best lesson can also sometimes be the harshest. 12) If any player asks you to break these rules, report them to me immediately with proof of their violation. Important Reminder: Dead Mafia Players Tell No Tales! If you're dead, don't post here!

Vote Count Jordan Foster / Comrade Commander: 4 (getdamonkey, Tohst, jluckhaupt, Calanon) Warren Thompson / Lego3364: 1 (Comrade Commander) Not Voting: 1 (lego3364) Most of the remaining students had pointed their fingers at Jordan Foster / Comrade Commander. "This is offensive. I'm a security guard, I'd never betray the U.E.N. Security Corps." he said defiantly. However, his words fell once again on deaf ears as he was taken out of the lounge. "I know you two security commandos, we hang out at the bar every Tuesday night. You guys know I'd never be a Purist!" He was, however, unsuccessful at rationalizing with the guards, who simply escorted him to Detention Center with the other voted out players. ~~~ Get those night actions in!

You may now vote. Lesson Five - Metagaming - What is it? What is Metagaming? Well, metagaming is pretty much using previous knowledge from past games to base judgement in current games. Short and simple, metagaming is not a positive thing, however it's usually used. Any mafia player can find and pick out so called "scum tells" or something said that appears to be scummy. However, some players just go back and see how another player acted in previous games. It's not so much of a deal in Mafia School, since you're all new and have never played this game before, so there's no way to identify when someone is acting similar to the way they've acted before. Short and simple, don't metagame. It makes the game less fun if all you don't base your suspicions on the current game and you base them on past ones.

Excalibur TNG: Mafia School Day Three: Measure of a Man Fred Rhodes / Adventurer1 was working late in the Engineering Classroom trying to figure out a component for an upcoming class. "Look how dirty this place is, the least the host could do is clean it up before taking pictures." Shut up. I told you not to critique the pictures. "You're writing this. You're doing it to yourself." Fred pauses for a moment. "Wait a second." he says. "Does this mean I'm going to die?" "Yes." the figure says. He presses a button to electrocute Fred, but he finds himself unsuccessful. "Hah. I've looked at the original Excalibur when Shadows was electrocuted. This time, I'm wearing safety equipment." "Maybe so, but this there's no safety equipment for this." The figure pulls out a phaser. "Well, I suppose you're right about that, but science is-" But the figure is done listening, and he blasts Fred into a million pieces. "Damn this place needs a scrub." Shut up!! Meanwhile, Emma Lane / vampyre78 is just standing in the lounge for some reason. "It's really convenient that the people that are going to be killed by night actions are always out and about at night, you know?" she says. "Yes, it's really convenient." says the figure who has suddenly appeared. "Hey, wait, what's that over there?" she asks the figure. "Huh? What?" But Emma has fooled the figure, and she runs off. "Wait, Emma! Come back! I have to kill you!" the figure yells. But Emma has run off to the holodeck, where she hopes to hide in an already running program. "What the hell? Islanders? Who the heck is running this program?" She's so lost in her confusion that she doesn't notice that her killer has followed her in, and stands behind her, ready to push. "There's nothing wrong with Islanders. It was a pretty cool theme." "I don't think it was...oh crap." The figure pushes Emma Lane / vampyre78, who probably hits a rock or something. Either way, she's dead. She's definitely going to drown. How graphic do you want this game to be anyway? Creeps. "Wow. They should really install some safety protocols in this place. It's dangerous." "Well, I'll say I'm partially impressed. Greg Kennedy was a member of the League of Purists, so good job on that. However, both Fred Rhodes and Emma Lane were Loyalists, so that's bad. Keep trying, I'm somewhat positive that you can do it." ~~~ Players: Command School: Warren Thompson - Played By: lego3364 Medical School: Adam Powers - Played By: jluckhaupt Sciences School: Willie Spencer - Played By: Tohst Engineering School: Jeff Yates - Played By: Getdamonkey Security School: Timothy Daniels - Played By: Calanon Jordan Foster - Played By: Comrade Commander The Dead: Melinda Fox - Played By: Xenophobic Monoxide - Voted off Day One, Loyalist Issac Osborne - Played By: TheLazyChicken - Phasered on Night One, Loyalist Emily Goodwin - Played By: Dragonfire - Blown up on Night One, Loyalist Greg Kennedy - Played By: Lego Spy - Lynched Day Two, League of Purist Fred Rhodes - Played By: Adventurer1 - Shot on Night Two, Loyalist Emma Lane - Played By: vampyre78 - Killed by rocks and water on Night Two, Loyalist Reserves: 1) nstickney Rules: 1) Every player has received their own character. "You can't lynch me, I'm a doctor. I can't hurt anybody!" Greg Kennedy / Lego Spy said. But nobody was listening. "This is ridiculous. I'll have you know that I'm going to be filing a formal complaint." Greg was taken out of the lounge to be brought to the detention level. The remaining students were escorted back to their quarters. ~~~ I've decided to hold off on the lesson until tomorrow since there aren't too many more left to give.
