Very well, I must admit that it was rather hasty, however we're on the final day and a decision must be made. I did not notice that anyone else (other than myself and Scotty) was holding something. As you can plainly see, I did not hide the fact that I am indeed holding something. However, why would I incriminate myself by revealing such a clue? With that being said, does anyone else have any other Witness Cards?
-
Ah, now I see why you don't have any interest in investigating Mistress Kupp's murder. Vote: Ram Strut / Rumble Strike The killer of Mistress Kupp was holding something. I doubt that it's Scotty, and I wouldn't self incriminate myself, so you're the only one left. Since you're holding a sword, I'm willing to believe that it's you.
-
My last card, I'd like to investigate the murder of Mistress Kupp. I'm rather surprised no one has investigated the murders of my family.
-
I too learned that the person fleeing the scene had pink skin. Thus, the only person with a cape and pink skin is Burrito. Vote: Burrito / Pandora Unless there's some sort of false clue mishap here, this is the only logical deduction.
-
I'm sorry that I'm not available at all hours of the day. I return to see seven more pages of script over the course of only a few hours. And all of the posts speeches are usually the same thing. I don't even have a chance to play a witness card, as by the time I get here all of the clues are solved. I'd be delighted to play one now if you need it, but it would appear you've received a great deal of clues already. You know, why not? I would like to investigate the murder of Professor Flutwick.
-
My, we've all been a talkative bunch haven't we? I'll maintain my vote for Mistress Kupp, as she's been sputtering nonsense all day long. All that was basically said in the last seven pages is that either Professor Flutwick is lying and protecting Mistress Kupp, or Donena is scum. Then there's been betrayal, lying, bad grammar, and other things mixed in as well. There's also been a lot of un-voting, re-voting, and the like. We'll find out soon enough tomorrow who's lying and who's telling the truth.
-
Vote: Mistress Kupp/Jedi master Brick Are you sure that leaving is the best idea when you're being voted by several people? I guess since we have the same last name we're related somehow but nobody from my family is that dumb. As stated, you fit every clue that has been given to us. You've also shown signs of being a confused person, however since you fit all three categories, it's likely you are a Dark One. When someone solves the challenge, I'm sure they'll investigate you. If you're simply a misguided townie, then I'll unvote you. If you're the opposite then the vote shall stand.

I'm back from taking English courses. I suppose I could say: "Oh No! This person died! This is a tragedy! We must blah blah blah", but that's really useless. This is not the time for grieving, this is the time for action. There's nothing really for me to say. We've got our clues, both of which could be fabricated, and we've got a suspect. I'll wait until it's time for voting, but in all honesty I don't think that there's any chance we've caught a bad guy so early.

The Coming Darkness - Confirmation/Discussion
Bob replied to def's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Me Kupp. Me guard town. Me have need to get degree in "English" to speak correct. Me take crash course in town library. -
I'd like to play.

I'll yield my spot to someone else, so I won't be playing. It looks like an interesting concept though. Good luck to the participants.

REVIEW: 8805 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5
Bob replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I can admit when I'm wrong. I had initially said that they should stop making these after Series 5. In all honesty, there are some good ones being produced still (even some repeats, but at least they're different and not subtly altered). About Series Five, I give it about a 4, above average. There's a few minifigures with the "wow factor" but there's also a few others that are just sort of repeated. As I said though, at least they're altered so they aren't exactly the same. (Although that exercise instructor is very similar to the S2 Pop Star). Over all, Series Two is still my favorite. Nice review, I envy that you're always able to get the boxes before everyone else. -
It's Dragonator and Shadows' turn to host a game now, so turn your attention to them. I'd love to host a game after them, however, but let them host their game. If they're not ready, I'm sure we can all wait.

Dolores sneaked in using her cunning spy abilities. Duh. Only on the night he was infiltrating the base, and only until he found the other communist, Dolores. I also guess I inserted the wrong thing too in the night actions list.

I wasn't aware that I made it a rule that people had to declare their PM conversations, certain people just did. I also think there were unreported conversations going on, especially between Def and Dragonator, Admiral Ron and Cralegoboy, and others. I don't think it had that much of an impact, and I also think that the townies didn't really try to hide anything. No, he was a loyal American, although just angry with the Government. He was originally supposed to be the Anarchist, and that's the catalyst that forced everyone onto the Lakota. I changed it, though, partly because he wasn't supposed to be that psychotic. He had a "Secret" Bulletproof vest, mostly because I figured he would be a target due to his character. His character was supposed to randomly accuse people. I was initially apprehensive about replacing Dragonator, because he was the Games Moderator. The reason that I didn't replace Shadows was because he PMed me saying that he would try to participate more. Admittedly, it is a shame that Brickdoctor was thrown into the position he was in, however, I didn't want to kill off one of the communists. See the point I made on the previous page. Also, I must confess that Dolores was a hard role to be given, which is why I gave the role to Def. Hosts are supposed to "Randomly Assign" roles, but in all honesty, the harder roles are given to the more experienced players. At the time, Def was doing stellar in Eurodina and he had played well in previous games. I think he did an excellent job keeping suspicion off of him for much of the game, one of the reasons why he won. He had everyone (but two people) convinced that Dolores was simply a "wrong place, wrong time" type of person. Now it's time for my summaries of the players: Characters: Government Workers Ian Bradford (Mayor) played by Walter Kovacs Where did you go? You were doing so well up until the last few chapters, then you just disappeared. I thought you were certainly going to win the game, but you stopped playing. Will Ackerson (Town Councilman) played by iamded In the PM, you told me that you didn't give your full attention to the game, but I think you played quite well. Your character was a vanilla town role, and I'm perplexed as to why people thought you killed Laura Jefferson. Alan Cain (Judge) played by JCC1004 You participated sparingly, but whenever you could which was good. Despite what the narrative says, I didn't kill you because you didn't participate in the building contest. Lord Arjay did. Ryan Phelps (Police Chief) played by JimButcher I still feel bad about you. You were playing so well, and then Def and I got you voted off. However, you slapped me back into being a host, and I think you provided an excellent lesson for me. Overall, in the Chapters you played in, you performed well. Tim Fields (Police Officer) played by CallMePie You were attentive and usually always protected. I think you played very well, and I am a bit upset that you lost. Louis Harrison (Police Officer) played by Brickme You disappeared because of power failures in your state, which was sad because you were initially playing very well. There's not much for me to say other than that, your character didn't really do anything memorable. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Working Class Dieter Schneider (Chef) played by Shadows You were doing so well in the earlier chapters, then you disappeared. Then you came back in full force near Chapter Nine I believe. Then you disappeared. Then you came back once in Chapter Fourteen, and quite frankly delivered the death blow to Inspector Liebenston. Many people thought he was merely incompetent, not a spy. Overall, I was a bit disappointed in your participating, especially because you seemed very eager in the beginning, as you even took the time to make a new banner for me. Patrick Jefferson (Lawyer) Played by Professor Flitwick You played very well, I think, for your first Mystery. You fit into your character easily, protecting your family just as the role called for. I especially liked your reaction in Chapter Fifteen, it was very moving. James Falzone (Dock Worker) played by CorneliusMurdock You were one of the stars of the game. You entered having never played a Mafia or Mystery, and you ended up winning the game. I laughed at your funny comments and stories in the start of the game, but that soon disappeared when the situation got serious, which I really liked. Either that or you forgot what your role called for, but just let me think the former. You hit nearly everything on the mark (except for the mutant zombies), and I'm proud of your victory. Simon Lloyd (Doctor) played by Burman You played somewhat in the first few chapters, but then you dropped off the radar and I was forced to kill you, as there were too many players and I didn't really want to keep a silent non-participating one around. Julie “Princess” Parker (Nurse) played by The Crazy One At times I had to humor your "bin searches" and I was somewhat disappointed when your character died. The Nurse was relatively uncalled for, until the moment when an autopsy had to be done, and you were killed. It's somewhat ironic I think. Alan Simmons (Farmer) played by Fugazi You are also one of the stars of the game. You were attentive, always playing, you got the most points out of everyone, and you also tied with Cornelius for the most posts every chapter. I'm very proud of you, especially because you were given a rather easy role, as when you entered, you had not played a mystery game, or a mafia game. In retrospect, I believe you could have even handled a harder character. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Dolores Jefferson (Housewife) played by Def You were given a tough role, the toughest I think, and yet you still won in the end. There were times when your participation would falter, but you still managed to post at least twice a chapter. Well done, I'd say. Gloria Jefferson (Student) played by Admiral Ron You did a good job, albeit a bit overzealous at times (jumping into the water in Chapter Two, throwing hammers). Overall, it was rather funny. I think you took advantage of your student role a bit too much, as you used your "knowledge" of Economics, Auto Shop, Engine Repair, etc. Stevie Jefferson (Student) played by Legonater You played very well, and towards the end of the game I had to humor you with a false wall. It took you four months, but you finally found that wall. I'm impressed. Valerie Jenkins (Housewife) played by Sok117 I'm sorry that you didn't stick around for that long. Your character was killed because Dolores had a fifty/fifty shot of killing Mayor Bradford. In the end, she missed (I flipped a coin, which is one of the lamer tricks), and your figure was standing behind Bradford. Ralph Jenkins (Retired Salesman) played by Cralegoboy I liked your character. The emotional outbursts, the way you handled your wifes death, and your pro-activeness, asking me in advance for a description of your house. In the end, I had to give you a vigilante role (since we didn't have one), and you used it excellently, targeting two communists. Matt Liebenston (HUAC Investigator) Played by Dragonator I'm a bit disappointed with your performance. Your character role called for you to openly accuse people, yell at them, over-zealously search things, and you didn't do any of that. Instead, you "sat around and took notes." I know you were trying to lay low, but in the end, that's what got your character nearly convicted, and what caused Brickdoctor to lose. Matt Liebenston (HUAC Investigator) Played by Brickdoctor I threw you into a very hard position, and although you tried to fight your way out, there wasn't much hope for you. I'm impressed, especially since you've only been in one mafia game, and I think I was right seeking you out. I hope to see other games from you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Arrivals Ted Harding (Captain of the Lakota) Played by Capt.JohnPaul Your accusations of Stevie are primarily what got you in trouble, but I think you played quite well. I'm sad that your character died, especially because you were doing a great job. Jackie Harding (Ted's Wife) Played by Captain Becker I'm not sure what you were doing, but you initially got the role, confirmed with me, then disappeared off the face of the Earth without even one post in the Discussion Thread, or the Chapter Threads. After three chapters, I contacted you and you said you didn't have an interest and you were sick, so I killed you off. Frankie Daly (Deckhand) Played by Captain Genero You were another star of the game, and it's a shame that you died. You threw so much suspicion off of yourself, hiding the fact that you couldn't write in English (even though you could), and you played excellently, perfectly fitting into your role. I am very proud of you. Maxwell Touns (Congressional Aide) Played by Mrlegoninja You didn't really last long, but for the chapters you were here you played good. There's not much else to say. Captain Pete Garrison (Special Forces Captain) Played by Lord Arjay I'm sad your character died, especially because you did a good job. You didn't do a good job picking who to kill, but it was alright. Excellent performance, I'd say. I'm not sure why people thought you were a communist. By the way, he was a Special Forces Captain posing as National Guard. All of the soldiers there were. Krista Halle (Farmer) Played by Peanuts I think you did a good job, you posted regularly, didn't do anything to make yourself look suspicious, and overall did a good job. Well done, there's not much more to say. Night actions will be up later.
-
I'm not sure what you mean about the "narrative value." Inspector Liebenston was first suspected because he rarely posted, maybe every other chapter, and wasn't exactly helpful. I have absolutely no idea as to why they suspected you, and nearly voted you out. Mystery Games are typically narratives, if by that you mean a well thought out story. The players are randomly assigned people, but the roles are already thought out and made. Dolores, Matt, and Krista were going to be communists no matter who played them. Other communists pairs I had planned were: *Dolores and Stevie - Stevie had been trained since birth for a deep cover assignment, and Dolores married Patrick. Stevie would become his step-son. *Dieter and Matt - Originally, Dieter was going to be an East German spy working for the Soviets. *The entire crew of the Lakota - Initially, there weren't going to be any communists in the town. I decided this was a bad idea, because it would have been too easy had one of them been caught. *Frankie Daly and Dolores - Frankie was originally Chinese, and the two were working together as part of a joint China-USSR Deal. Other background story lines I had planned were: *Dolores was never a communist, but killed Laura Jefferson just to be with Patrick. This was eventually changed to where Dolores was a communist who killed ruthlessly to get where she needed to be. *Dieter was an Ex-Nazi Spy who killed Doctor Lloyd's Wife. A bit far-fetched, and hard to plan, this is one story line that I took out. Dieter was transformed into a lovable chef, who looked more Scottish than German. *Blank Bullets. At the tail end of the game, I realized how many people had died and how heartbroken the townspeople probably felt. I figured that Stanley would have subbed in the real bullets for fake ones, and that meant that Judge Cain, Nurse Parker, and Frankie could all come back at the Conclusion. Captain Harding could have, had he not fallen off a building. Then I realized this was a bad idea since in the writing I said they were confirmed dead. The only person who I could bring back was Doctor Lloyd, the one body that you never checked. *The entire Jefferson Family was communist, except for Dolores. The idea here was a bit extreme, but it was similar to the "Dolores-Stevie" pairing above. Laura Jefferson was killed while trying to extort information from a military base, and Dolores, who was in love with Patrick, married him. *The lifeguard was a CIA Agent. This was dropped in favor of Jack Howard. *Jack Howard was originally going to be a truck driving playable character. Clues (I think you missed) *If you'd notice, none of the communists died when they were targeted. Dolores was narrowly killed, but the bullet hit a lamp. Matt was wearing a vest. This leads me to another point. *Matt was wearing a vest. Why would a House Un-American Committee Member need a bulletproof vest? *Krista's Arrival. Krista was the one who stabbed the lifeguard, by the way. If you'd heard what she had said, she was staying with the lifeguard, but she really wasn't. It's also odd that when the lifeguard was found, she was wounded. *Dolores' disappearance. I believe it was in Chapter Nine when Dolores left the group for a good solid 24 hour time period to go and clean out her commie nest on the top of the Fire Brigade. There were a great deal, most of which you picked up on, but I'm not sure if I'm forgetting any. Things I'd like to do better next time: I won't lie, I'd like to host another mystery game ASAP. However, I'll have to wait behind Dragonator and Shadows, who have the next slot, before I can do this. I was also working on a plot halfway through this, so that's all done. However, this is only self-promotion. *Shorter Game; this game, as many have said, was too long. It spanned from Eurodina all the way to the Fabuland Mafia School, or six months. I'd like to shorten it to about four months, as there were some long and drawn out, and unnecessary chapters in the game. *Sets; I made the buildings, but I never made any interior sets! I figured if I did this, then it'd be easier to simply create the room in words, as you're very limited with bricks. Things I started to do, but stopped: *Titles: If you look back to Chapter One, and Two, they both had titles. It was at Chapter Three that I forgot to do this, and all the way until Chapter Thirteen. *People's Avatars when they were talking: If you look back to Chapter One, when Ralph falls into the basement of the hotel, his avatar is present above his lines. I stopped doing this. *Life Point System: This game was going to have this, but I figured that I shouldn't bother. Again, in Chapter One, Ralph sustains some life point damage. New things I tried *Player Freedom: During this game, which I think was different from others, I allowed players to choose where they wanted to go. This was partially a mistake, as it made the game drag on when the players went to a useless place. (Example: The Hospital, Nurse Parker's home, the Hotel). *Mafia-Hybrid: As def pointed out, this game did have a plethora of mafia roles, mainly "Protector, Blocker, Watcher, and Killer" I figured that maybe a few of these mixed in would help out. However, as time went on, I kept throwing more of the same roles in, including an investigator. I also changed them from Night Actions to Chapter Actions. Initially, Matt Liebenston was the only "investigator", in the sense that he had to find his fellow communist. I'll have the player summaries up, along with Night Actions, later.
-
Indeed, I'm preparing them now.

I agree with you completely. Now it's time for me to reveal what I think that I, as a host, did wrong. Chapter Seven I know Jim has forgiven me, but I feel that I was the one who got him killed. It was during this chapter that I became to much like a player rather than a host, and I feel bad about it. I even went as far as to sort of help the communists with the NPC Soldiers saying the townies were going in the wrong direction. I feel this was the biggest and most glaring problem of the entire game. Time Length As said, this really should have been ten chapters rather than fifteen, or at least fifteen shorter chapters. As said, it went the length that really took a toll on the players as well as me. Character Amount I feel there were too many characters. Initially, I intended on deleting Farmer Alan, Judge Cain, and Officer Harrison, but I kept them on. The Lakota was always supposed to arrive, but I feel that Mrs. Harding was a useless addition as well, especially because the person who played her never posted. The characters that were supposed to come were: Krista, Cpt. Harding, and Frankie. The CIA Agent, Maxwell Touns, was hastily thrown in as well as Captain Garrison and Jackie Harding. Night Actions I feel that changing the Night Actions from the actual night to daily was a mistake as well. It was initially a way to "cull out" the characters so the list wasn't ridiculously large, but looking back I think we lost good players this way. At this point, I will take questions/comments/concerns/tomatoes from you guys.

Everyone can post here! Winners! From left to right: Def, Peanuts, Legonater, CorneliusMurdock, Fugazi, and Admiral Ron Conclusion: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twenty years have passed since the whole ordeal had occurred. It is Alabatha Day, the founding of the town. Mayor Ackerson is giving a speech. Sitting behind him is Former Mayor Bradford, and standing behind him is Chief Fields. Dieter Schneider, Alan Simmons, and Officer Harrison stand next to the podium. "It's been a very rewarding day today. I'd like to thank everyone for making this another successful Alabatha Day. I'll be brief," he started, as his speeches were usually hours long. "thank-you for making this day special to everyone." James Falzone and the lifeguard had married years ago, and James had left Alabatha for the open seas, fixing up and taking the Lakota, as its original crew had all died. Former Chief Phelps had moved to Oregon after the incident, and bought a farm in the secluded woods. He tends to his garden everyday, with his pet dog, April. Gloria Jefferson took over the practice from the inexperienced elderly doctor who replaced Dr. Lloyd. And Patrick Jefferson spends his days looking out towards the sea. Having rebuilt his house after his children went off to college, he sits and reads and watches the townspeople on his patio all day. He pushed away everyone else in his life, except for his two children whom he occasionally sees. However, not all endings are as perfect as they may seem. Krista Halle lived in The Bahamas, spending her days on the beach drinking Margaritas at the expense of the Soviet Government. She acknowledged the approaching waiter. "I'd like another one, please." "I'm afraid that's not possible." "Pardon?" "I'm afraid that you won't be having anymore drinks." *BANG* "It took twenty years." Garrison says. "But I finally got you." Elsewhere in The Bahamas, "Dolly Jackson" sings show tunes at a Cabana on the beach. A familiar face, however, has entered the cabana. He stays until she leaves after her performance, and he follows her. "Hello Dolores." he said. "Stevie? How did you get here? How did you find me?" "I'm afraid none of that is important. You've killed my father, not physically, but emotionally. He hardly sees us anymore, and it's all your fault." "I loved your father, but I love my country more." "Then I'm afraid you'll have to die for your country." Stevie says. *BANG* Dolores' body falls into the water, and floats off into the ocean. It would be days before the Bahamanian Police find her body, and by that time, Stevie would be back in Alabatha. "All and all," Mayor Ackerson droned on, lying about his briefness. "We have each other, our health, and our friendship. I hope to see you all next year, and around town as well!" The captive townspeople were relieved at his completion, and they left. And, as he had been doing daily for the past twenty years, Ralph Jenkins placed flowers at the secluded burial ground of his wife. The trouble was over, and the townspeople were free.

Red Scare Mystery -Confirmation and Discussion
Bob replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
The Ghostbusters arrived to take care of Inspector Liebenston's body. Thanks for playing, and for the dedication. This topic can be locked also. -
The sound of the patrol boat returned, and eventually it bumped against the larger cargo ship. A ladder was extended up, and a familiar face stepped on board. "Good afternoon." President Truman started. "I cannot possibly apologize or make up for the trauma that you have all gone through, and there is nothing I can do to rectify this. However, know this. General Stanley has been stripped of rank, and has been given a court martial. He will never bother any of you again." The President looked forlornly at the crowd of townspeople, most of them bruised and heartbroken. "I cannot even begin to extend my condolences for you people. There never has been, or will be, a Project Wolf in Alabatha. I am sorry for all the trouble you have been through." The President turned, and left for the patrol boat. The sun shined high on the sky, piercing the clouds that began to dissipate overhead. The bright sun gave new possibilities for the people of Alabatha, their own destinies and futures ahead of them. Thank you for playing Red Scare Mystery! Look for the exciting Epilogue, which should be up in the next few days.

Although I appear to be alone in my vote, I said that LEGO shouldn't produce more of these series. They're starting to give out repeats, and these repeats aren't always that good. Another problem is that the repeats are usually the most common in the series. (Example: Snowboarder, Skateboarder, Surfer) They're also releasing figures that have been made into official sets too, for example the Viking and the Dwarf. A few, like the Series Three Chief and the Series One Ninja were in older sets, and they're welcome. However, the Viking was available for purchase from 2005-2007, and the Dwarf was available from 2008-2009. That being said, the series has produced a few amazing figures that most likely would never have surfaced (The S1 Wrestler, S1 Zombie, the S2 Spartan, and the S4 Haz-Mat Guy), but I believe that it's run its course. It's very difficult to make these figures, I know, but when a part of the Series is from earlier collections, and another part is from recent sets, I think they've exhausted their idea pool. When I heard the rumor that Series Five was the last, I was a little disappointed, but then I quickly rationalized it with the above points. I'm sure that future series will produce at least some rare figures, but the common ones from past series will keep popping in.
-
"It'll be here soon." he starts. "It had to go fetch someone very important for you."
-
"The Ghost Of Liebenston is here to haunt us!" the Congressman shouts. Yes, you cannot post here.
