I think re-creating scenes is probably the way to go now with OT sets Endor, the Death Star and the Sail Barge have all done fine jobs in that sense

Review: 8018 AAT (Armored Assault Tank)
TheBrickHitHouse replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The speeder may look like it just fell from an 1980's Lego set but... Leave the speeder permenantly in place as a control room and remove the bricks on the second section of the speeder - and you have a perfect little entrance ramp -
The new AAT looked awful from the prelim pics - but the actual set is great ...the new sets dont look great, but I'm going to give them the chance they deserve - Lego are not great photographers and usually pick the worst angle to show their sets 5 figs for the Venator is just baffling - wouldnt an Admiral mini fig have made sense?
-
Let's face it people Neither set is very good A wall we could make ourselves and a square grey box... We will be buying these sets for the figures - ergo we would be buying these sets if they just had nothing but minifigs....
-
I could do without an escape pod - why not use the space, give us something new How about a sick bay, an armoury - what about a conference room? A bit of inspiration wouldnt hurt - the Venator is quite small, an escape pod would take up most of the space
-
Lego cant seem to get it together with this set - previous catelogues have this set with a different control panel piece too...

Will there ever be a newer better ship than the BSB or SES?
TheBrickHitHouse replied to Antsa Antero's topic in LEGO Pirates
I'd say the opposite The price of Lego means Lego depends on wealthy parents ...they are focused more on that parent than the child, a child will get anything an advert tells them to, the wealthy parent wont Lego needs to convince the parent that a set twice the price of the latest Xbox game is worth while Therefore they need to design a set that the adult likes, what the child wants is secondary - there are 1 million things a child wants after all Sets like the Death Star were never intended to be a child's toy - face it, how many parents would spent £270 on a plastic toy?? -
Just got Brickbeard's Bounty What a beauty! Glorious colours - and bigger than a thought Needs an anchor and a winch for the treasure - and and of course some more details at that front end of the ship ...but overall, this is a well designed vessel that is worthy of the Lego line ..and to think at first I thought of this ship as kiddie!
-
Looks real to me Doesnt look to bad - obviously I'd love a huge set (hey TLC - you had success with the Death Star why not try it again with the Venator?) Odd mini figs....
-
Got my two AAT's today ..they are big! Much bigger than the old tan one Such an improvement (though i'm so used to the old one i'll take some time to adjust!) Yoda is a superb minifig Must buy set that came such a long way from the shameful prototype pics we all saw

PICTORIAL REVIEW: 6274 Caribbean Clipper
TheBrickHitHouse replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Pirates
Holy hell - how is your set in such good condition? Mine ws bought in '89 and while its been on display ever since it looks like its whethered many a storm -
Its very show accurate - quite surprisingly so I own 5 of the old AAT's and intend to replace them with the new ones (got my first 2 AAT's on the way from shop@home) Old AAT was such a bizarre set - colours were all wrong (the back part was blue?!?) I think the new set is great - okay the price is £10 more than it should be, but 7 MINIFIGS, thats incredible, way more than lego would usually hand out
-
whats your problem? That post says there are 2 senate guards, palptine, and two clones 5 figs - strangely enough, thats what I said...
-
so the rumours were true - the Venator will be coming with Palptine and Senate Guards, hope the rumour of just 5 figs was a mistake.... I cant believe a Venator would have two senate guards but only 2 other figures.....senate guards would be a cool, but odd choices.... ...and I rather like the Clone Wars style minifigs, a lot of the early figs were very plain but the new ones have a bit of flair to them
-
It was a good idea for a set - but lousy execution Empty interior and odd mini fig selection (Royal Guards?) People always moan about the sturdyness of sets - most Lego sets are very well built (despite what people say) ...this set however, you cant hold it - the 'floor' falls to bits....
-
any rumours as to why the Republic Shuttle aint on the UK shop@home? any ideas when this situation is likely to change?
-
Its between the Skulls Eye and Black Seas Barracuda The Skulls Eye improves on so many areas - but lacks the detail, the little touches that just make a great set I'll go with the Barracuda
-
edit: not on topic
-
I want the CIS Vulture droid but I really dont need another Asohka and I have Jedi Starfighters all over the place, yellow ones, red ones, blue ones - i'm not going for some kind of gay rainbow squadron! I do want that new droid - I'll just get one off bricklink and save buying the set, minifigs are expensive but it will still cost less than buying the set itself
-
Lol Anyone voting for Brickbeard's Bounty has clearly never owned The Black Seas Barracuda ..and as this site is full of 12 year olds that werent even alive when this set was released thats no real surprise (18+ guys?) anyway, I own all the pirate ships - BSB is a Lego masterpiece, the detail is incredible Brickbeard's Bounty is nice, but its kiddie and sparce on details, you cant even compare the two BSB would destroy ol' Brickbeard
-
It is.... Hardly a mini fig when its just a collection of generic parts Was tempted by the Sailor - instead I think i'll just buy the Dooku mini fig seperately £40 is a rip off for that set
-
Didn't the battle packs use to be
-
A droideka, magna droid and a couple of the new super battle droids ..thats the battle pack we were after This is an odd chocie for a set That said, its worth a buy - glad it comes with an extra arm for IG-88 If I have the funds I'll get two - i have a feeling assembling an army of AAT's and new super battle droids will consume all my funds
-
...how can you rave about sets you have never owned? I got 'em all Anyway, 2008 was the best year for Lego. Period Mars Mission, Agents, Batman and Star Wars - it was a challenge just to find time to build them all, let alone display them Lego have really let their master builders have a crack at Star Wars sets after years of evidently getting the cleaners to make them The '08 AT-TE and the '03 AT-TE ....thats the difference between one of us making a set and a professional making a set Star Wars Lego is now less a toy and more a peice of art
