For gawds sake! $40 is PEANUTS In the UK we pay twice that! ...and thats STILL peanuts According to the rules this site is for people 18+ and you cant afford $40? In an entire year? Lego might be expensive for a toy but its NOT EXPENSIVE, how much have you people spent on drink and ciggs just this week? Its not $1000 to buy EVERY Star Wars set in a year - for a hobby thats pretty cheap ...how many other hobbies cost that little? Enough with cost moaning - either enjoy Lego or dont, but dont spoil it for the rest of us Are you on Ferrari message boards moaning they are too expensive?

I bought a second gunship so I can have both sets of nose art on display ...now that is some serious excess! I wonder how many gunships Lego has sold to people just so they can have bother versions - strikes me as cunning marketing
-
Without a sail I kinda feel a bit of a chump... ...but i'll be buying the sail I just MUST have Dooku, my yellow one is now good among fleshies ...two Magna guards is pretty decent too and a pilot droid clinces the deal ...i may buy the set and sell it keeping the figs.... AAT looks get - so glad there is a rear hatch, that really bothered me for some reason Looks pretty show accurate too ..unlike the first AAT with its BLUE bricks all on display
-
Without a sail Count Dooku's ship is just......well, at the least, the most curious NAME for a set to date! I am desperate for a fleshie Dooku and while i despise the new Clone Wars show I do like the 'look' of Dooku, he could be really impresive as a minifig with that beard
-
yey, the shuttle has an interior! I have been a bit dubious about the shuttle - after all, it didnt seem much different from the Tydirium or the Imperial landing craft and I've already got those But these pics have put my mind at ease

Indeed, I'd have prefered a entry ramp at the back and a STAP But I still love the set and I'd have paid the £40 for it even if it only came with two battle droids ...as it is we get 2 mini figs and 5 droids, thats a hell of an improvement over the first AAT

http://cgi.ebay.com/LEGO-8018-Armored-Assa...%3A1%7C294%3A50 AAT Pics, finally There is a speeder I had been hoping we'd get a back end to the AAT that resembled the film version (with the ramp) Instead we get a hole where the speeder goes Oh well

So many great mini figs - '08 was such a great year for Lego Really loved Starkiller and the Rebel troopers But as i'd always wanted a Plo Koon - he gets my vote He're hoping for a Ki Adi Mundi.....

ohh new black clone gear Remind me - in the show is the clone gear black or grey?

LEGO Star Wars 2008 dissapointing?
TheBrickHitHouse replied to darkrebellion's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Cant believe people could complain about '08! We got sooo many sets and nothing for the OT fan.....er....the Death Star?!? At 3000 bricks its the equiv of an entire line! I dont like the new Clone Wars show - but I love the vehicles, from a design point of view the new sets are damn near masterpieces - how I wish I could make MOC's as accurate and including such advanced building techniques! '08 Lego werent toys they were pieces of art -
Where do you buy your lego from?
TheBrickHitHouse replied to pr0visorak's topic in General LEGO Discussion
All new stuff comes via lego's website In the UK I think its now the only place that sells more than a third of the catelogue -
Sets hold promise - but i cant help but feel they are scraping the barrell I for one have been hoping for a good Corporate Alliance Tank droid for years (the 05 one sucks) ..but that is hardly a big hitting set is it?? A tiny Venator is a big let down too This year we had the Death Star for cripes sake, and a good AT-TE and Gunship - people had been after those for years Nothing really compares in the '09 range
-
God, I wish people would just shut up about the prices If you cant afford it - tough Some of us can, and we really dont need constant moaning from the rest Do these people go to a Ferrari forum and moan they cant afford those too? We are getting some really exciting sets and it just annoys me that people want to sour the mood If you want quality - you have to pay for it
-
Hmm..the Venator has less bricks than the '06 star destroyer ...while the '06 star destroyer looked good - it was...empty inside and with the most bizarre minifig choices I hope for a model that has more details and one that is far more sturdy....
-
You just figured that out? Obviously they design sets so you want/need to buy battlepacks Either your very naive or very......well.... I for one love battlepacks - they could load every set with 30 clone troopers and i'd still want more
-
2008 for me was the best year for Lego. Ever Was their a bad Star Wars set released in '08? I think not - and while the January sets were good to great, the Clone Wars and Death Star set still have me stunned Delighted the new Clone Wars series is providing so much inspiration for the builders - we get a chance to revisit sets that were less than stellar the first time (Corporate alliance tank anyone?) ...trouble is from the sets revealed for '09....i'm a bit underwhelmed I've been after a decent AAT for nearly a decade - so glad we are getting that, and the Corporate alliance tank should be good ..the rest isnt that intresting - and surely the Venator will be the '06 Star Destroyer with a diff colour scheme and bridge? The Star Destroyer with its odd choice of figs (Royal Guards?) and empty interior was a bit of a rip off - I really hope the Venator is a bit more....detailed

Its a nice set, It looks even nicer on display next to me as i type!
-
Great set - re creates the entire Saarclac scene from ROTJ, Lego could have really skimped on this set but the skiff and the Saarlac are great touches
-
New AAT looks great, so much better than the prelim pictures 6 mini figs - 3 SBD, thats quite impressive for a £49.99 set ...my plan is once the instructions are published to make a tan version....
-
Oh please, its a plastic toy - i'm fairly certain its feelings cant be hurt the set is 5 years old? You mean 2003? When technology was oh so different and designing good sets hadn't been invented yet?? I've seen more than a few excellently designed sets that are more than 20 years old. Lego aint exactly new at this building business.... Early Star Wars sets were designed on the cheap and in a rush, when Lego was more intrested in cashing in quickly as new films came out. ...as for arguing i commented on the innacurate nature of the set, the use of randomly coloured bricks, the lack of sophisticated building techniques (where are the smooth lines?), how many more arguments do I need to put forward?
-
Awful set Looks like a child built it Colours are totally wrong, clunky and basic Looks like the designers kid made it with left over bricks Where are the smooth lines, the little details, the even superficial resemblance to the real tie bomber?? This thing looks more like a patchwork quilt than the ALL BLUE bomber of the film More amaeteurish than even the old MTT? Almost

There's a Padme minifig?!? I've been collecting since the dawn of time and no longer fit in my room under the weight of Death Stars and AT-AT's - and yet I never knew, which set is she from??
-
Padame and Chancellor Palpatine are givens For me the mini fig I want most is Ki Adi Mundi
-
It took me....days.....to build but its done Just wow - and so much bigger than the pictures can convey. Untill you've actually seen it you cant appreciate the size - its ridiculous The attention to detail is superb - little buttons to call the lift on each floor!! The detention level is superb! ..and by the way I think the ''Interrogation'' room is actually droid maintaince (ya know - where C-3PO said he was taking R2-D2 when the stormtroopers find them) Some many features - two lifts, firing missle, 3 working doors etc Needs a Death Star gunner!!!
