Review: 6082 Fire Breathing Fortress
PassionateMOCNoob replied to ZO6's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great review. Brings back nostalgic feelings from when I was like 7-8 years old, and got this set for my birthday! -
Is the Ent in Orthanc Supposed to be Treebeard?
PassionateMOCNoob replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think it's treebeard in the Orthanc set. I hope I'm wrong because I'd love another set with an Ent, and the only option would be Treebeard Encounter as been discussed here allot. The ent in Orthanc has the beard and two branches on its head just like treebeard, although they stick out the wrong way I think... The only problem with him being treebeard is that he doesn't have a head on top of his torso, but his torso is his head (unlike treebeard in the movies). -
I'll probably buy just one, maybe two, because of the lack of Elven ears. In comparison; I bought Uruk-hai army five times.

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
PassionateMOCNoob replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Wow these bigger pictures make me so greedy. I'm very happy about all the minifig designs, exept the elves because of the hoods instead of hair pieces. Still, they look good overal. Maybe the Necromancer could look a little less 'naked' if they gave him a cape. Also, small red foilage, yay! I wish Gandalf would have been replaced by someone else, but I understand why they put him in there. Edit: The amount of skulls in all Hobbit sets is too damn high! I think it's like 15 skulls in the Hobbit (incl. this wave)!- 7,499 replies

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

Thanks for the link Namioik! Do my eyes see an orc with new print? I agree they look even more promissing!- 7,499 replies

Nice design on the airship! The the blue (air-sick?) Dwarf is a nice touch! I also like the 'flamethrower' (if it is) on the front. "[Maybe] Dwarves [weren't meant to fly, because they] are natural splinters. Very dangerous over short distances." - Gimli son of Gloin

Thanks for sharing this Kris! It sounds like him, and would make sense because it would make the set 3 good guys (Gandalf, Beorn and Radagast) vs 3 evil guys (Necro, Azog, normal orc). Especially if the set is similar in size/build to Black Gate (Gandalf, Eagle, Aragorn vs 2 Orcs + Mouth). I'm not to sad about the lack of Elves in this set, since the others will make up for it!
-
I agree but the names can give you some info on the sets anyway. For instance, I bought a set some days ago which was still listed as "Eagles Nest" on the website (The 79009 Black Gate of course). It's true there is an eagle in the set so I like to think that a set like "Elrond Battle" will at least have an Elf in it.

LEGO LotR - general discussion
PassionateMOCNoob replied to General Magma's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
As much as I like Rohan, I wouldn't want a set with as much promise as Meduseld replace a Gondorian set, or any other factions/cultures left untouched (Lorién, Morgul, Khazak-Dum, Cirith Ungol etc). -
Watch tower of the northern woods
PassionateMOCNoob replied to Uthered's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Love it: the brick build pine trees, the water, the soldiers, the tower itself. Nothing to add! -
Good idea. I'm looking forward to the pics.

I bought my first Barrel Escape today, for 39,95. Looks like I wasted 5 cents. -
[MOC] Tavern in the Sloughy Lands

Nicely done. I really like the technique you use for the walls, roof and foundation of the building. -
LOTR Project: The Two Towers
PassionateMOCNoob replied to Nuju Metru's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Brilliant build Nuju Metru. I would buy this set if it would come out. The small guardhouse is awesome. I like the furniture in the hall as well. The only thing that's missing for me is the fire in the middle of the hall. Maybe you should have the shield above the door replaced by a viking shield with print? Or did you choose this because it is the 'Golden' hall? -
Which Hobbit Dwarf is Your Favorite?
PassionateMOCNoob replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Nori, Because of the nice print and awesome berserker hair. Dwalin a close second. If he had a helm similar to Gimli he would be the nicest minifig. And yes, I know he is bald and doesn't wear anything in the films, but from a minifig point of view it feels incomplete to have a stud on a head.- 81 replies

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
PassionateMOCNoob replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yeah I was just teasing with the men from Dunland. I would really like it, but it's only possible if there will be 10+ minifigs in the Orthanc set. I think it's very unlikely but since there is a lego corsair anything is possible I guess. Safest bet is to have Saruman and Grima. Besides those it depends on the time (although considering there's orcs and a corsair in the ship set nothing will suprise me): - Gandalf + eagle + Mordor orc - Theoden (horse) + Legolas + Pipin (because of the Palantir) - Treebeard + Merry + Mordor orc- 7,499 replies

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
PassionateMOCNoob replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
If there are minifigs in the Orthanc set (lets hope there are 14!) it would be cool, since it is an epic set, to have 1 or 2 Men from Dunland in it as well. I know they had little screen time (although in both FotR and TTT) but so did the lonely corsair on the ship, so I don't think it is impossible IF there are minifigs in this set.- 7,499 replies

This is awesome!! I love this so much, because I wanted to create something like this but it's nothing compared to what you made! Keep up the good work, looking forward to your next Orc MOC!

Nice use of colours in the plants! And the rocky feeling is great too. When I watched the pictures I really wanted to know how this scene ends because of the action!

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
PassionateMOCNoob replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yeah exactly my thoughts. To bad all 4 orcs are the exact same print and no new armour or helmet. Guess we have to be more creative ourself. I think I'll have to buy 2x Rivendel because of the leaves! What do you guys think, is the hair of Arwen 'manly' enough for Elven warriors?- 7,499 replies

What's your latest acquisition?
PassionateMOCNoob replied to Konrade's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Wow that has to be a world record price for one minifig?! But I'm actually jelous because it is one of the most awesome minifigs ever. Awesome you could find a CMF 3. And luckaly not a useless one either. This is probably the best CMF ever! -
That's one awesome shield. Never seen it before, but it looks like it can fit in with the crownies shields and/or knights. I don't think there are too many colours, exept for the blue on the left side (3rd photo) because it does not seem necessary anyway (or use dark grey if you want to simulate the three-barred cross?). When you got the interior finished you can decide if there are too many colours or not. What I would do different is the use of the 'Helmsdeep green' (I don't know what to call it), because it seems like you use it more or less symetrical and I prefere it to be 'random build'.
-
Looks cool. I would have recognized it if you didn't tell us what it was! So that means good job!
-
Wow! This looks very promissing and I already love the details on the ceiling and floors. The rocks and building style are great. Can't wait for the end result! Very inspiring work! One question: What shield is the one in the middle on the tower? It looks like a 12th century crusader shield or something? Is it custom made?

Wow just think about it, having LOTR legos released from 2001 (before FotR came out) until 2004. Then Hobbit sets 2012-2014. Did lego show any interest in buying the LotR theme before the release of the Hobbit? Was it too expensive? I mean in popularity and age groups LotR was like Harry Potter I believe. Why didn't they build on the theme before (even if they started AFTER they knew the succes of the first movie, they'd still have enough time to catch up, right?)?
