  1. Have fun in Australia LV, that sounds exciting! The Spire will be obliterated soon enough; Nocturnus will prevail .
  2. What a neat idea! This will be fun. Congrats on a successful three years - I've definitely enjoyed participating a wee bit throughout Book II, and appreciate all the work that goes into GoH. Also, I second LordDan's question:

    Canadian Eh?

Found this little guy in the Christmas-stocking-stuffer section of Target this week
  4. MEC Category B: Fimbrethil's Return Wow! So many great entries are pouring in in these last moments - awesome work everyone, and good luck .
  5. ~ MEC Category B: Fimbrethil's Return ~ "When Winter comes, and singing ends; when darkness falls at last; When broken is the barren bough, and light and labour past; I'll look for thee, and wait for thee, until we meet again: Together we will take the road beneath the bitter rain! Together we will take the road that leads into the West, And far away will find a land where both our hearts may rest." ~ J.R.R. Tolkien, The Two Towers I've always thought that the story of the lost Entwives was a sad tale... ... and I'd like to think that at some point Treebeard and Fimbrethil find each other and live happily ever after. Here's the whole build: Thanks for looking! C&C always appreciated. And there's a few more pictures over on flickr,
  6. Thanks so much for the comments/feedback guys . It was fun trying to squish Smaug into 16x16, but the smaller space also enabled me to get a decent looking pile of gold (what you see here is just about every gold piece I've got).
  7. Here's mine for category C: Inside Information
  8. "He gazed for what seemed an age, before drawn almost against his will, he stole from the shadow of the doorway, across the floor to the nearest edge of the mounds of treasure. Above him the sleeping dragon lay, a dire menace even in his sleep. He grasped a great two-handled cup, as heavy as he could carry, and cast one fearful eye upwards. Smaug stirred a wing, opened a claw, the rumble of his snoring changed its note... Thieves! Fire! Murder! Such a thing had not happened since first he came to the Mountain! His rage passes description - the sort of rage that is only seen when rich folk that have more than they can enjoy suddenly lose something that they have long had but have never before used or wanted. His fire belched forth, the hall smoked, he shook the mountain-roots." ~ J.R.R Tolkien, The Hobbit Here's my entry for the MEC category C. The Lord of the Rings brought me out of my dark ages so I had to get at least one build up for this contest...Now lets see if I can get something built for the other two categories before the deadline . A few more pictures below, and still a few more on flickr.
  9. Sign me up - either side is fine . And wow - great builds Ecc! That first one is especially amazing, and huge .
  10. I'm not sure if there is anything official - but I've always associate the guild sigils with ZCerberus' shield thing-y that he oft watermarks his GOH builds with (Mitgardia=Bear, Kaliphlin=Lion, Nocturnus=Snake, Avalonia=Dragon)
  11. Really beautiful build Gabe! Not only is the griffin wonderfully shaped (I especially like the wings), the base is also well executed - the perfect backdrop for such a lovely creature. I think the front claws might have benefited from a slightly more claw-like appearance (maybe something similar to the Creator Eagle's feet). And, maybe it's just me, but I find the brown at the top of the head, along with the 1x1 white round plate looks a bit like a Santa hat at certain angles .
  12. I really like the colours used on this guy, and the wing design is really cool . The one thing I would pick out to critique is that the gaps where the limbs connect to the body look a bit unnatural (although blending the limbs and body a bit more would definitely affect its pose-ability).
  13. Great work - the overall proportions work really well (maybe the wings could have stood to be a little bigger), the feet especially look very well adapted to landing/walking on snow without sinking down too far. And amazing job getting all the none-white connect-y bits covered up.
  14. Wow GOH is really active these days Thanks so much everyone for the comments/feedback, I really appreciate it. And uber-thanks to Ecc for the frontpager . Thanks for the feedbcak robuko. The tongue is just two of the small red horns held in place by two of the 1x1 with vertical clip peices (also in red) - connected in the not proper way - if that makes any sense. And I see what you mean about the plate - it was stuck there to cover up the grey mixel joint, but a smoother solution would have probably looked better. I can picture it clearly in my head - lush undergrowth, a swampy lower area, a few flame spurts, some bizzare Nocturnus-y plants - now I just need to organize my time better and not leave things till the last minute . Very true, I'm not sure how prolific lightning sand is in the swamps, but from what I understand, the Rous has a sixth sense about these things, and can (hopefully) steer clear when necessary. Thank you - the back legs ended up being my second favorite part of this little guy (after the head).
  15. Here's mine: The Nocturnus Rous
  16. Here's my entry for the Mount Up! challenge: The Nocturnus Rous This unusually large rodent is a choice mount for any Nocturnian. The Rous was domesticated through centuries of careful breeding programs. Programs through which the largest, strongest, and most trainable Rouses were selected to continue the line. Not many breeders remain today (probably because Rous breeding has not proven to be as popular/profitable as the horse, wolf and wyvern industries), but there are a few who remain loyal to preserving the breed. A nifty little factoid to note: the Rous secretes a fire retardant oil which comes in real handy when riding through the southern Moruth swamplands where dangerous flame spurts frequently occur; atop your Rous, there is nothing to worry about. Phew! Just in under the deadline... I think... right? I finished the head eons ago, shortly after the mini-challenge was announced - but the rest of it was all done today. It turned out a bit larger than I had originally wanted, but I really liked the head and so decided to build the rest of it to match (size-wise). Those new ball joints are fantastic for creature building, I just wish they all came in black. Oh, and I just watch The Princess Bride for the first time - I definitely borrowed a few things from it... C&C always welcome
  17. Great work everyone; congrats to the individual winners and team dG for the overall win . And awesome recap Rogue Angle, weaving all those builds together.

  19. And last but not least, the cute one: ...more pictures on Flickr. There's some really awesome turtles so far (and so many!). Thanks to Eurobricks and TLG for hosting this fun contest.
  20. Here we go with number three, a somewhat more traditional looking fellow: Some more pictures, and turtles, over on Flickr.
  21. Very nice. The construction of the troll is superb, and the base looks great. The gems pieces work really well as water, I especially like how they catch the light.
  22. Entry number 2: He's got a little bit of vertigo... Aannd, there's some more pictures, and turtles, on my Flickr.
  23. My first entry -> the Tiny Little Turtle: There's some more pictures, and more turtles on my Flickr.
  24. I've got a Nocturnus beast in the works, the torso area just needs some fleshing out and he'll be ready to chow down on the other mounts Have fun on the vacation Mass.

Both stores are in Kingston (ON) - I was quite surprised in both instances, the Lego section in Target is often half empty, and I had given up on finding any good deals there until the recent sale (but still didn't get anything lol); and I was picking up a colouring book at the Dollarama, and the Harry Potter books (the 'character' one and the 'building the magical world' one) were there with the rest of the books (there was only two of the first book, and one of the second).
