Thanks everyone - It has just been accepted by Cuusoo - which I guess means that they might still consider game based Lego designs. I think this is great news not specifically for my design but hopefully that Lego haven't given up totally on Board Games. I would be really grateful for any support it receives so here is the link: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/62682 Thanks for all your kind comments anyway, it really is just a set I wanted to build so I could play with my daughter :-)

Hi All, Just finished this little Easter Gift for my "Friends" crazy daughter. She has got most of the stable associated stuff, and I saw a small fence that came with one. This got me thinking.... I love boardgames and have dabbled a bit with designing before, so I figured I'd have a stab at a centerpiece for all her Friends buildings, and here it is. It's a bit sad that Lego have finished up with games as this to me presented a massive opportunity. The way it is built allows for many different courses to be designed, and extra fences to be purchased/built. It plays in about 10 to 15 minutes and although simple to learn can be quite deep to play. It has all the elements of Show-Jumping (inc time faults for those that dawdle around!) and has little downtime for players - we have multiple horses on the track, at safe distances. Each fence also has easily removed top tiles that "fall off" if the fence is hit! Anyway, on to the pictures. The overall layout - all 9 fences, the player plates and the 3 dice. The "Parallel Bars". The first part of the double combination, and a tricky area to clear. The "Waterjump" with the "Toy House" behind it, you can also just see "Aintree" in this picture, (I named all the fences - sad isn't it!) Fence 7 "Manhattan" - designed on paper by my little girl makes up the second half of the deadly double... View from above - you can see how the track has been designed to turn and allow for different track designs to be built. The last fence is the "Big Red Brick Wall" - a little homage to my childhood watching Olympia. Fence 8 Egypt - I have tried to give all the fences a Lego theme too. On the other side is a rather nice "Atlantis" fence that for some reason I failed to photograph. Anyway, that's about it. I am going to throw this on on Cuusoo just for the fun of it - so please if you feel that you might like Lego to consider this idea, vote for it! Cuusoo link: http://lego.cuusoo.c...deas/view/62682 All the best to all the fine members of this forum.

Thats an interesting question, and one I never really thought of during the whole time I was planning/building it I will no doubt take it down again this month, then rebuild for the Brickvention in Melbourne next year. I have full instructions so it's no big deal I guess but my cupboard is brimming with lego in snaplock bags!

Having never really took on a big project before (I usually just content myself with Winter Village building) I decided I had to have a go after visiting an exhibition. I choose the Titanic after thinking how much the technic bricks were suited to use as portholes, and I always (waaaay before Leo & Kate) liked the story. Anyway 2 years of design, on and off, and this is the result. I know there are easily more accurate representations that have been created, but I went for a more detailed approach at the expense of scale on occasion. Like the crows nest is way big but it's so important, also cranes that move etc. In the end I am super happy with it and at 2870 pieces it didn't entirely break the bank either. It was infact a joy to build, however displaying a piece that's a meter long presents way more problems! I played around with photoshop for a vintage look to some of the photo's - I hope you enjoy them. There are more images on Flickr if you are interested: Thanks for looking

Have read a few complaints about the new rules and even though i fall into the camp of people who have already worked towards a full building entry this year, I certainly don't think it's fair to complain. The competition is not about the prizes for me, I just enjoying building & designing lego WV. I will do so regardless of the ability to enter a competition with my creation.I hope everyone else who has pre built an entry that cannot now be used can share this sentiment. I might even still have time to knock out an entry (though my spare time is in short supply at this time of year.) Anyway just wanted to say thanks to the mods for keeping this comp running and I look forward to seeing some great entries.

hi kermit - the train car is really difficult to ascertain the colour of. I have watched the movie several times and once whilst i was making the train. I googled images and the best lego likeness to the light blue with a hint of grey was the medium blue brick ( i tried with light bluish grey but it looked dull and even more wrong.) Happy to bow to someone with a better image and always happy to improve my model accordingly. I've seen green used but it absolutely is not green in the movie or the stills. The windows would have ideally been dark red but alas lego do not make them in that colour.

Completely awesome work. The effort, time & skill that went into the sound chip hurts my head just thinking about it!

Thought I'd share my latest build. I really only usually work on designs for my Winter Village but i always pined for the Emerald Night train but the ridiculous cost held me back. When I saw the Lone Ranger Train set on special I bought it and set my mind to building a train that would fit my needs, the Polar Express. In all honesty much of the design is a complete lift of the EMERALD NIGHT but I had to rework the entire front end of the engine and I wanted to create a Mail Carriage on the back to accommodate the "Hobo" and letters to Santa etc. It is motorized and I think looks a treat, the only problem is the dust that the black bricks tend to show. I honestly dusted them all prior to the photo's. I wish i could have taken a nice long photo of the whole train but it is nearly a meter long and my poor white box just couldn't accommodate the full article. I hope you enjoy the photo's http://www.flickr.com/photos/103845615@N04/sets/72157636072660493/with/10031708705/

All the same questions as The Strategist immediately came to mind.. This is incredible, if i hadn't seen it with my own peepers i wouldn't have believed it.

Awesome - completely brilliant design on the bowsers and the modern art styling.

Thanks for the comment Priovit. It really was the best set that won and that's how a competition should be. When I saw your design i knew the game was up! You have raised the bar and i for one will be back next year to see if i can up my build to your level. I have already pretty much designed my entry, and have just about finished a cinema (inspired by the modular one) that would not really qualify due to it's 1800 part build.. I will post pics soon. Congrats again.

Well done Privot70! It was an honour to cross swords with you! 18 - Privot70 - 3pts (some completely brilliant ideas and in keeping with the other sets.) 5 - Toorayay - 1pt 28 - crayonboi - 1pt

Thank you to everyone for the kind comments over the last month and a bit (seems like forever since the 11th December when i originally posted my entry!) I think there are so many great entries this year and i can't wait to vote for my favourites, My favourite entries always had some kind of background or little story that went with them and i realized my Church didn't so I spent a little time writing a short piece. Thanks again. (I've already been considering some further additions - gee this lego thing is addictive!)

Hi I don't know if that was your sleigh - the one i used was one on gizmodo by a bloke called Powerpig. http://gizmodo.com/5693856/build-a-lego-santas-sleigh-with-powerpig If this is an alias of yours then fantastic and i thank you wholeheartedly. The reindeer link pic is awesome too though, brilliant idea to use transparent bricks to create the illusion of flight. Thanks Ricecracker you and the mods do a great job here - i visit everyday to look at all the great designs and ideas.

Hi I have already entered this years Winter Village comp with my church ( it was the first entry which has somewhat fallen down the listings, if you want to check it out here is the link - http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=76897 ) so this is purely for fun, but i had some extra time off this year and decided i'd build another little other offering. In all honesty this piece could never be entered since some of the ideas belong to others. The sleigh and tree for instance were great designs i found on-line, but i just added my own spin on them. The reindeer is a re-work of an old lego design. Anyway i thought i'd share the idea's with everyone. I still have stickers to make for the opening hours sign and Toy Soldier entry, plus the mantle clock needs a face. After all what is Christmas without a visit to Santa for the youngsters !! The Soldier will have a sticker with some kind of entry description. i decided to incorporate a few icy bits to the roof to break up the white a bit. The Sleigh was a fantastic design i happened upon which i just fancied up a bit (waiting for a bricklink order for some light blue snowflakes for the sides so i had to be a little creative). The Sleigh however had no reindeer so i used an old lego design and expanded upon it. Standard snowman, light etc - i am particularly fond of the bay window on the log cabin. You can see the tree through it and nothing for me is more Christmassy! I should have taken a photo of it as it really is my favourite thing about the cabin, doh. Inside - The whole cabin is quite small and, i like to think homely. There is only room for the tree some presents and Santa's chair. The fire is lit with the standard light brick. The log cabin is a challenge to build using the log pieces sideways but i saw an entry last year (my favourite, along with the Inn.) that inspired me to have a go, and i'm pleased with the results. I love the Winter Village and think there are some excellent entries this year. Thank you for looking and i hope everyone had a great X-Mas and Holidays.

I like it Emma - Some really nice ideas well executed (and nice to see an M-Tron mini-fig torso!). Best of luck in the competition.

Awesome work - sadly my fat fingers aren't up to such intense, fiddly work as I'm inspired by the wonder of your village!
