  1. Most likely for sets based off reality more than expectations or wants. Corsair will be largest set at around 900-1100 pieces (the Helms Deep) with Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Undead King, Oathbreaker, 2 corsairs (maybe 3). There is the huge sleek ship with a cave where the Trio left the Path of the Dead. Play feature will be the cave will reveal the King of the Dead with a switch. Black Gate is the Mines of Moria of this wave and has around 700-800 pieces with Aragorn in Gondor attire on Brego, Gandalf on Shadowfax, Mouth of Sauron, Gondor soldier, Mordor Orc (x2) No troll we get 3 horses and no rohan soldiers, basic Moria gate style with the gate towers used instead of a backdrop like in Mines of Moria. I think we saw something pretty close in the LOTR lego game. Play feature will be opening gates and idk a wall or tower collapsing. Third largest set is exclusive like Weathertop and it is Council of Elrond. Has around 400-500 pieces with Robed Elrond, Aragorn Rivdendell print or Legolas Robes, Arwen?, Gimli, Gloin, maybe Lindir? It will look a lot like the set piece from the game maybe with some mountain details below the council chamber and a waterfall. Play feature will be Gimli breaking the axe on the ring with altar. Fourth largest set will be like Orc Forge, this will be the Bridge of Khazad-dum Around 300 pieces will have Gandalf, brick built Balrog like in game and the bridge will break apart. Fifthlargest set will be Wizard Battle and like Uruk-Hai army set around 250 pieces featuring Saruman and Gandalf with Palantir room and balcony, just a piece of Orthanc. Play feature glowing Palantir orb. Sixth largest set around 220 pieces will be Treebeard brick built like Shelob and have Merry and Pippin. Not much else but will be equivalent to Shelob attacks in size and price. Play feature Treebeard himself. Seventh largest set will be Ringwraith with Frodo around the size (100 pieces) and price of Gandalf arrives with just a Ringwraith on horse, Frodo alone with a small bridge. Either that or maybe Arwen with Asfaloth but that is pushing it. The set would have been called Ford of Bruinen or Arwen's stand but that's not the case.
  2. Yes under wraps but why so much secrecy for only LOTR? Also it seems with the sets there are at least two incarnations which we want. Black Gate as battle pack and small or huge set with lots going on but expensive for minifigs. Orthanc as huge tower or just a small throne/palantir room set. Rivendell as a small section or a larger area with bridge and connecting rooms. It is agonizing without any details, far too much possibilities and in the end many of us will be disappointed that their version won't be the one represented in model form.
  3. That is a good idea with a 1x2 plate. Would Lego bother with a horse head reprint for Shadowfax? I guess it's the same piece of plastic without extra printing, not sure if they would considering they don't worry about exact details like Orcrist mold or Tauriel's daggers.
  4. The spear was intended for Ecthelion, it is a Brickforge Javelin in True silver. I made a brick built spear ala ninjago but took it apart for parts later.
  5. I like the cavalry set due to the new white horse mold which I need to make Rivendell Elf Riders to pose with the wargs. I believe we will get a Gandalf the White since the white horse mold is available now and Lego likes to reuse pieces across themes. My only gripe is why the lack of lord of the rings 2013 sets. If it is supposed to be released around the same time (March) as lone ranger why do we have to wait until February to get a glimpse of the second Wave sets?
  6. Indeed the animals talked, just not in human/elf/dwarf speech. They communicated with Radagast and to a lesser extent Gandalf,it was handled tastefully and effectively. I hope Wizard Battle Duel or whatever won't be the smallest set akin to Riddles, if so we may not see Orthanc for some time. Of course maybe Council of Elrond will be a nice size and Corsair ship will be the flagship set of the wave.
  7. I gave Elrond reddish brown gloves and used the Brickforge vambraces to make them long like in the Fellowship prologue. Elrond by Mahtion, on Flickr
  8. A couple weeks back I made this little scene out of extra pieces. Ecthelion with his Knights are protecting the King's square and wielding Orcrist the dark forces of Morgoth are almost driven back to the gates of Gondolin. Soon dragons and Balrogs will overrun the last great elven city of the First age. Ecthelion of the Fountain by Mahtion, on Flickr Ecthelion close up by Mahtion, on Flickr Ecthelion with Orcrist by Mahtion, on Flickr Orcrist detail by Mahtion, on Flickr Ecthelion is made from Crown knights torso, mummy hands, arms, legs, Elrond head, small blue cape, Brickforge elven helmet and battle armor with segmented pauldrons, Kukri sword, kite shield and I made the spike on his helm by filing down the Lego blade edge from ninjago enough to fit in the tiny space allotted by the Brickforge helmets for plumes. The Knights have yellow hands and heads from the minifigs I got with their torsos. Now that I ordered 10 haldir heads I was able to change them into elf lords for the Gil-Galad scene in Forlindon. I hope to buy some old Vikings dragons and make a brick built Gothmog similar to the Balrog design in the game. Also working on a large fountain and Glorfindel and his Golden Flower Knights.
  9. I have the hobbit art and design book by Weta and the Gandalf staff is supposed to resemble a living flame as if the wood has encased the fire. Pretty cool detail since they based this off of Mithrandir having the elven ring of fire, Narya which he received from Cirdan. Also Orcrist looks nothing like a katana but I used the Brickforge Kukri tactical sword in true steel and it at least resembles the shape. My Ecthelion: Orcrist detail by Mahtion, on Flickr
  10. My second attempt at a MOC. The last was Mirkwood and I believe I am improving. Initially I wanted to make Rivendell but the techniques are going to require more practice and I will need more grey stone parts among other pieces. This is Forlindon, on the coast of the far west where Gil-Galad reigns. Elrond and two elf lords are discussing matters regarding the Last Alliance. The entire set is still in progress but I purchased over 1500 bricks from bricklink and I will need more for the water effects and to finish some areas. Two custom elf lords have the Kingdoms chain mail torso with haldir head and Elrond hair and ears plus some Brickforge weapons. The Noldor guards are Elronds with Brickforge Spartan helmets. I also used those gold blade ninjago pieces to create an elven crest for the walls and gate entrance. Originally the balcony was a bridge for elven riders but I don't have any white horses or enough pieces to finish a cliff on the other side. I will definitely finish this when I get more bricklink orders like clear plates for waterfalls and maybe some kind of hinge to create a roof for the gateway.
  11. True, the dwarves and Bilbo aren't needed but I'm trying to be realistic. We know TLG wont make a set with just Elves, usually they recreate a scene and if so that means including some of the dwarves because with Gandalf he can be used in both places, courtyard and White Council. As for Minas Tirith I believe it will be initially attempted by two sets, one with just the outer walls to simulate the defense and siege and another with the tower of Ecthelion and the White Tree with a couple Citadel Guards.with the white wings on their helmets. Any extra sets for Rivendell are way beyond speculation right now but I hope we see at least two or three portions or a larger attempt (anything around 70 will make me happy). Also I hope just because Mirkwood featured in 2 sets in the first wave that excludes it from the second wave. I really hope we get a Thranduil minifg and some guards seen in the Prologue in Erebor. Maybe if we get a Throne room set, that is very iconic to the book and sure to be popular in Desolation of Smaug.
  12. Yes this would work well. We could have the little courtyard and then stairs leading up to the round dome chamber of the Council scene. Also if we get a Gandalf the White in the Black Gate set TLG could reuse the white horses for this set for the Elven riders. Also it is an opportunity for them to reuse Saruman from Orthanc Wizard Battle set. Ideal minifg count: 2 Elven riders, 1 armored Elrond, Galadriel, Saruman, but which dwarves? Maybe Thorin he should have extras being the main hero and leader with perhaps Dwalin and a Bilbo for good measure. The riders would definitely add some action to the set and which kid doesn't love armored silver knight types with lances? I just wonder if Elrond would be armored or just Council attire, I highly doubt we would get both. However if TLG has different sets of Rivendell, Council of Elrond for FOTR and another for the Elven riders, it would be possible to combine them to form a larger portion of Rivendell.
  13. Erebor and Rivendell needs to be made in some capacity. Either that or a set called Elf Ambush with Two Elven horsemen and two wargs with some rocks and a bit of land. Would be a nice battle pack for wargs and elves. The elven riders could have banners with lances and bows. One with a helmet and the other with elf hair and ears. More importantly we could get white new horse molds and cool harnesses. Would also love to see a White council set with Galadriel and Saruman in a set together. Or any set that has the new Rivendell guards. That way we could get Armored Elrond but in a new paint and still keep Prologue Elrond as exclusive if needed.
  14. After seeing the movie I almost prefer a Hobbit version of Rivendell. It is vibrant and so many minifig possibilities are possible. Lots of Elven guards in armor, a couple Elven horsemen and then of course Elrond. They could even have done something for the White Council, a very iconic scene. It could be possible to have the Council of Elrond and a White Council set. I think minifigure wise White Council is great, we would get Saruman, Galadriel, new Elrond paint design and unfortunately another Gandalf.
  15. Which number is a direct line for the United States? I wouldn't mind getting a few for mine if possible. It is either that or getting some capes off ebay or bricklink.
  16. So you're saying that a unique shape weapon necessitates a new mold. In that case Orcrist should be represented by a new mold because although the straight swords suffice for dwarven blades, they in no way resemble Orcrist.
  17. I got 8 more Mirkwood Elf polybags leaving about 18 or so at the Lakeland store. It seems like nobody notices or bothers since they are left in the box on the shelf with a small opening from the front. So my total is 16 and my diorama is full of them! I also went right back in and bought Shelob attacks and Escape from Mirkwood Spiders. I really like the Mirkwood spiders and the Legolas and Tauriel minifigs but the Shelob spider while really intricate is a little too big to fit in Mirkwood. I used Legolas and Tauriel as fodder by adding MIrkwood elf hoods and using their hair for other Mirkwood Elf guards. Also used Tauriel's daggers and bought about 6 daggers of time off bircklink to distribute among my Mirkwood Elves. Soon I will order Barrel Escape since it is an exclusive and as much as I want An Unexpected Journey (Bag End) I may wait until it is on sale in a few months. Somehow my local store lost two cases of Mirkwood Elf Guard polybags, I was so annoyed I made another 40min trip to Lakeland to pick some more to get my polybag fix. Seriously I have never heard of such incompetence and poor monitoring of inventory. Oh and I finally received my Haldir in the mail and he looks really good. I will eventually get maybe 2 or 4 more to make some Galadhrim soldiers.
  18. I much prefer chainmail or armor on my elves so I like your changes. I don't like the yellow heads but swapping them out on the CMF looks great. Now I want to check brinklink for some CMF bodies so I can make half my Mirkwood guards have some variety. Edit: It appears they go for at least 5 bucks a piece so I may have to get 4 or so and make a small group of royal guards for a Thranduil throne room or something. Speaking of which I am currently looking for parts to make a Thranduil custom minifig. Need a silvery torso and pants and some kind of twisty crown piece like in the Thranduil official concept images. By the time of BATA maybe we will get minifigs of Mirkwood soldiers at the BOFA.
  19. Yes but the Elrond minifig needs to be movie accurate. In the Prologue of LOTR, he is wearing a green skirt with gold trim and the blue shoulder wrapped cloak like the other Prologue Elven Warriors. The green IMO represents his Sindar heritage being of Dior's line and the blue his Noldor linking him to Gil-Galad's kin. Incorporating more green would not properly represent his movie character unless they added the green sleeves on his upper arms but I don't know how they could do this correctly on printed arms. If you look closely in the Last Alliance or stills, the Elven contingents have different colored cloaks representing their respective realms or regions.
  20. Okay I am currently working on re sizing the original pics. I took the advice to load them on flickr. Also I finished a first attempt at elven architecture. I received more stuff from bircklink but unfortunately I had to recycle Mines of Moria for parts. I hope you guys like my totally improved Mirkwood Sentry Gate: The main gate with stronghold behind Full wide shot of Mirkwood with scenery The gate has opened to allow for reinforcements Spiders from the accursed side of Mirkwood have encroached on the Elves territory The time has come for close quarters combat Details on the wooden part of the gate Lanterns adorn the top of the gate as well as the walkway connecting the towers The lookout tower holds spare arms and vigilant sentinels The main tower has the Captain's quarters and an elf is peeking from the top window More detail on the wooden wall part and a tree that has grown out of the wall The door to the main tower The main tower in detail Second main tower image in full The lookout tower in more detail Close up of the walkway connecting the towers Table with Wine bottle, goblets, and a candlestick, this was seen on the walkway And a preview minifigure: Ecthelion, Lord of the Fountain with his Shield studded with a diamond I should be getting my brickforge order tomorrow and with it the parts needed to improve the Prologue Elven Noldor and Ecthelion as well. I'm not sure how to use flickr because I cannot get the images embedded and apparently the images are already safely resized automatically by flickr. I will have to work on this for a bit.
  21. Okay sorry about that I searched under forums to find a resizing tutorial to no avail. I will look over the link you provided and make the appropriate changes.
  22. I love your stories and unique iterations of the themes and setting. At times the narrative lapses into an informal vernacular but at least the style remains mostly intact. You definitely have a gift for furniture designs! I just can't see your latest image, just shows a broken flickr image.
  23. Yeah I guess I will never have the satisfaction of finding the Mirkwood Elf polybag at my local TRU. Somehow they go from it's in stock, wait for truck to unload to wait for Lego rep to oh we lost both cases. I even spoke to the manager on the phone, this store is terrible how can they haphazardly handle inventory, unbelievable! Either it's lies or they really did lose then somehow. Tomorrow I'll take yet another 30min drive to the store I found the others in and hope they have some more.
  24. In 1697 of the Second Age, Lord Celebrimbor of Eregion had fallen to Sauron and the entire kingdom was ravaged from the Misty Mountains to Eriador in the East. High-King Gil-Galad sent Elrond as his herald to Eregion to help the survivors escape the wrath of Sauron. http://i3.photobucke...lves/photo8.jpg Elrond with his brigade from Lindon has found a survivor in the wreckage of the once majestic city of Ost-in-Edhil. http://i3.photobucke...lves/photo9.jpg Sauron in his boundless cruelty has sent trolls to rampage the ruins of the city. http://i3.photobucke...lves/photo7.jpg The bridge is broken and Sauron intends to let no survivors of Eregion live. http://i3.photobucke...ves/photo10.jpg The Last stand of the Noldor in Eregion http://i3.photobucke...ves/photo11.jpg Eiliant and Midhanar have fallen. Herumacil one of the refugees of Eregion charges against the orcs! http://i3.photobucke...Elves/photo.jpg Inspiration for creating the scene, I was just toying with some bricks. I want to create an Noldor fortress in Eregion which Elrond commands before retreating and founding Imladris. Also when I get more bricks from bricklink I want to create a much more largescale Mirkwood sentry gate with buildings and towers and ramparts.
  25. I received a shipment of bricks from bricklink and couldn't help but put together something. There are two dioramas, the first is Mirkwood: http://s3.beta.photo...rary/Lego Elves http://i3.photobucke...lves/photo1.jpg Welcome to the Eastern gate of Mirkwood known as the Emerald Way http://i3.photobucke...lves/photo2.jpg The Left side features a few Mirkwood Sentries ever vigilant of the growing shadow from Dol Guldur http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y86/Alithar/Lego%20Elves/photo6.jpg The right side has some dutiful Archers but a couple who would rather slack off http://i3.photobucke...lves/photo4.jpg Rochir and Glaeron would much rather drink Dorwinion wine than stand on patrol http://i3.photobucke...lves/photo5.jpg Captain Aledur stands in the outpost high in the trees with his owl Dinalagos Picture Not Found Aledur and his Mirkwood Sentinels
