  1. You mean it has the Mouth of Sauron not a black rider. Is there an eagle or fell beast in this set?
  2. Wow deathleech you have 3 barrel escapes and I haven't even found one at toysrus. I was thinking about ordering one online but I already have tons of Mirkwood elf Guards (around 17) and 10 Elronds so I have lots of Elven swords. I just don't see the reason to buy the set right now, not many pieces unless I wanted to have Oin and Gloin.
  3. Wow I like the Vikings preliminary sets, red wooden fort, frost giants and a sea serpent. Even fenris looks better and not so cartoony.
  4. Are the deals more local like the ones where prince of Persia Legos were marked down? Or are they pretty consistent across the stores for each corporation? I doubt Hobbit or LOTR will be discounted. The other day I saw buy 1 get 50% off on city and star wars Legos on toysrus.com.
  5. I got: Gandalf arrives Mirkwood Spiders Shelob Uruk-Hai army Any idea when we should be expecting lego clearance deals? This is my first year buying Legos after my dark age and I have no idea when to start looking.
  6. Wow looks like I've awakened a new desire for Elven MOCs! Great to see some enthusiasm and would love to see a lot more. Deskp your Lothlorien looks great, love the colors which capture the blue tones of Lothlorien in the twilight. The hanging lanterns are a great touch and the mirror and the gateway add some detail. What color did you use for the Mallorn trees? Also your Rivendell is coming together, the more modular Lego builds the more we can keep expanding until we have scenes which meet our expectations from the movies. I have a feeling once Rivendell gets released some of us will definitely tackle the monumental task of recreating a great representation of the hidden valley. Rpmac1, the design looks very close to the miniatures used in the actual Fellowship movie but the colors need some work. Also some hanging lanterns would look great. Your concept looks like a huge build. I'm starting to prefer mimicking Lego's use of using the least amount of pieces to capture the scene. It's a minimalist approach but it's growing on me. I would still love to see more of your renders. I may have to play with LDD again soon as well.
  7. Looks great, like the rounded edges to the hobbit house. Lego did a great job giving us elements of our favorite scenes so we could buy multiples and expand on them. I don't believe Bag End has a second floor but maybe some of the hobbit holes in Hobbiton had an extra floor. Like how your MOC is modular. I need to go back and redo my Mirkwood sentry gate and Forlindon fortress MOCs so they are modular and are better secured.
  8. I like what you did by expanding the Barrel Escape set. How many barrel escapes do you have? 3? Glad to see somebody else loves Elves around here. Usually only orcs and Rohirrim get all the attention. Nice use of the double spiral staircases and also the wall facades. Looks like you have lots of Elves; I see Elrond, Haldir, Legolas and a bunch of Mirkwood elf guards.
  9. I haven't seen any LOTR Lego keychains at all. Can you order them from toysrus or Lego site?
  10. Are these key chains available for sale now? May have to take advantage of this opportunity. I only have 4 Uruk-hai and 2 Moria orcs. :/ My elves have no one to fight and they grow restless.
  11. If we get a Thranduil set, a Smaug in Erebor and a White Council attacking Dol Guldur I would die happy. Now if a huge Rivendell were released I would be in bliss.
  12. Yes the trolls set was very underpriced and most of my set ideas are off but it was a very quick and rough sketch of what may be. I spend less than ten minutes on it. Maybe I will revise it to fit more in line with the patterns of price and piece count for the other Hobbit wave.
  13. Please share your LDD images of Lothlorien, I would love to see them! Also I agree Rivendell is quite intimidating but if you break down into buildings or parts it seems more doable. Like the one building deskp made in LDD with council of Elrond pieces or my idea with just some platforms. It will take time and practice but I think if you start slow it will work out over time.
  14. Well it's possible that Lego has put the TABA sets on hold. As soon as the announcement was made they could have received new footage from DoS since PJ filmed most of it. That would give them just about a year to create some sets and keep some they designed for the third movie. Either that or they will release more spoilers like the Hobbit first wave where two sets will be "preview" sets. Then when TABA comes out they can release some sets they designed more recently kinda like a mixed theme from all the Hobbit films. I'm not sure what sets we would see since we already got Barrel Escape and Spiders. Would Lego release another spider set featured around Bilbo? Hobbit wave 2 version A: AUJ and DOS Trolls scene-$30 3 trolls and dwalin, Balin and bilbo and some ponies Eagles nest-$40 the carrock with two eagles, Gandalf, Thorin, Kili, Fili Sting Attacks-$15 Bilbo and two spiders with a cave or trees Hall of the Elvenking-$25 Small throne and pillars with Thranduil, Thorin, 2 elf guards, and Bilbo Laketown-$90 Bard, Master of Laketown, Oin and Gloin and Bilbo and some guards, maybe some more dwarves with some wooden structures Awakening Smaug-$70Smaug and bilbo in the treasure room of Erebor Hobbit wave 2 version B: All DOS Sting Attacks- same as above Beorns House-$25 Beorn, Bilbo, Bifur, Bofur and Bombur and a wooden lodge Hall of the Elvenking-same as above Laketown-$40 a smaller version of above Awakening Smaug- same as above Dol Guldur- $110 necromancer, Gandalf, Galadriel, Elrond, two elven soldiers, 4 orcs, huge tower structure representing battle of dol Guldur and White Council, lots of play potential Hobbit wave 2 version C: DOS and TABA Sting Attacks- same Hall of the Elvenking- same Laketown- same as smaller Awakening Smaug- same Dol Guldur- smaller version of above Battle of Five Armies- huge set with gates of Erebor as backdrop, 2 elves, 2 dwarves, 2 orcs, 1 eagle, 1 giant bat, bard, Thorin in armor, Bilbo Maybe another set or switch out Laketown to have Smaug fight Bard? That is an important scene for sure! We could get two sets of Smaug. Definitely a Laketown on fire would be a better action piece than having just a plain Laketown. Need a small set or exclusive to get all 13 dwarves in their armor. Also need at least ONE battlepack for Battle of Five Armies! Maybe it could include one of every facton.
  15. I made some Elves using some LOTR and other minifig pieces, some from CMF and castle. Just started a thread if you want to check it out. It's called Elf lords.
  16. Or Azog could pick up the shield for whatever nefarious reason. I liked how the movie really wanted us to see that Orcrist was picked up alongside Thorin, the Eagles must know of The Goblin Cleaver's importance even though Lego does not.
  17. When I checked last around last week the only sets at Kmart were Weathertop and Riddles and Uruk-Hai army. Target had Weathertop, Mines of Moria and Gandalf Arrives while Walmart had Uruk-Hai army and Attack of the Wargs.
  18. Decided to work on some Elf lords of the Second Age. These are my attempts at making Elves using exisiting minifig pieces. First is Sarethuin of Nenuial Sarethuin of Nenuial by Mahtion, on Flickr He is made using Tauriel hair, Eomer leg printing, Vikings torso printing. Next is Glorfindel! 19. Either way I wanna see more Rivendell lol. Did you make all your concepts using LDD? I didn't see the new horse molds on there when I worked on it in November. Also where did the Elven Noldor helms come from?
  20. Hey deskp I would love to see your designs on a Hobbit Rivendell. The platform courtyard where Elrond and the Elf riders surround Thorin and the company would look really nice with the stairs leading up to the White Council. Maybe even a middle or side platform where the harpist plays and Elrond identifies the Gondolin blades.
  21. Welcome Narwhal! I like your enthusiasm but I don't see a blue banner, more like black. I also don't see how it continues unless the other sets like Castle and City didn't have the same color banner. Oh and deskp awesome job on Rivendell. The tower looks skimpy and thin but this is a promising start and is inspiring. Please design more including the scene in the Hobbit where Gandalf speaks to Lindir and Elrond rides around Thorin with the other Elf riders.
  22. Yes I saw a cart or some kind of rectangular shaped object. Definitely the bandit like minifig in thrown leaping from the tree. The tree itself looks small and boring. I doubt a knight would be in a small peasant cart so probably we will just be getting a farmer or civilian. Would have loved a knight with horse but at least we will get a horse. I love hawks from the black falcons so hopefully we get something along those lines. Forestmen from the 90s were my first sets and oddly Phantom Menace Legos were my last around 2000. Then I started again this past year with LOTR and so ended my dark age. If we get some Forestmen or wolf pack types I would be happy.
  23. Orcrist is the biggest disappointment of the Hobbit wave, it deserved its own mold. The shape is unique, nothing like the short sword that has been recycled from LOTR hobbits to now the Hobbit dwarves. It is iconic and featured heavily in the movie, much more so than Sting. Sting does glow a 2 or 3 times but it was never even named! All the characters responded to the legendary status of Orcrist. The only reason Sting gets a mold is because it already exists in the LOTR wave where Frodo has it.
  24. I'm good on any battle packs as long as we get a Lorien Galadhrim helm and a Noldor Last Alliance helm. Banners and little cultural builds would be a bonus like a little tree sentry post for Lorien or a gate tower for Noldor.
  25. Lothlorien definitely needs a couple more flights of stairs to look even remotely like the real deal. Also I wish it will have lanterns hanging like in the movie. If only Lego designed it to be during the night the color scheme would be silver, white and blue and result in a more mystical and unique set.
