  1. Our next meeting is set for September 17 - 12 PM to 2 PM at the Yukon Public Library, but many of us will be at the Brickuniverse Tulsa convention on September 10 and 11.
  2. I think the best MInas Tirith IDEAS set would focus on the courtyard with the White Tree.
  3. The next meeting is set for July 16 from Noon to 2 PM at the Yukon Public Library.
  4. 1) Victorian lady 2) Bear costume 3) Meter Maid 4) Shogun 5) Viking chieftan 6) Robot 7) Historic Soldier 8) Movie Director 9) Inventor (Leonardo da Vinci) 10) Alien 11) Chef 12) Basketball Player 13) Video Game Girl 14) Elf 15) Historical Nurse (Florence Nightingale) 16) Baseball Catcher
  5. Then someone would say that they could do battle backs if they had ample builds to go with them. They would point out that Star Wars does this with their battle packs and LotR also did this with the more substantial Uruk Hai Army build. I wish LotR would have had more waves or even became evergreen. But it didn't and I still enjoy the sets and minifigs that we got. I don't think LotR was a failure though the Hobbit may have been. But it has been gone for years and despite four minifigs being made available with Dimensions packs, that is not likely to change. I think we would have seen further LotR Dimension packs already if they were coming.
  6. I hope the spy has a trench coat print with a duel molded fedora so he does not appear bald under the hat.
  7. Rohan is my favorite faction, but I understand that many prefer Gondor.
  8. The next meeting is set for May 14 from Noon to 2 PM. It is at the Yukon Public Library again. Our three library display series , "Books Come to Life", will have completed. Members who contributed builds for the event will be able to pick up their models then.
  9. Very cool, BluesArchitect. I keep this thread up to date with the latest meetings. The website has all the info though.
  10. I don't think it is a recall... because they would have had to tell someone about it. Likely it is a shortage somehow that a lot of the stores that normally get them received none or reduced quantities.
  11. I had not noticed minifigs being pulled, but a lot of the normal places never got them. I know a guy in Dallas who called their local LEGO Store, but they were still selling this series.
  12. Could it be a legal issue over the likeness of the wrestling champion?
  13. Since we have not heard about a line for Fantastic Beasts AND Ghostbusters, Antman, and Dr Strange are all getting only one set, is it likely that there will only be one Fantastic Beast set? I don't consider that a bad thing if it is approx $60 and has all the major characters in it.
  14. It seems that we will get a few Dimensions packs for both Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts. I suspect LEGO is waiting to see how big of a hit FB is before deciding to make a wave/waves for it. The Hobbit line likely underperformed. This way they can ride the wave if there is one without taking up production and shelf space in case the fans don't come back.
  15. LEGO Lord of the Rings line was tied to the Hobbit movies. It would never have occurred if the Hobbit films were not made. LEGO LotR fans should always be grateful to those films for that. However, the poor reception that those movies received really crippled the line in my opinion. I don't think it was ever possible for LotR to become an evergreen theme, but LEGO did keep their options open for a third wave. Unfortunately that did not happen. Perhaps it was the LEGO Movie that drew factory production and shelf space, the fact that the Hobbit films were split into three, or poor sales that brought about the end of the line after only two waves and one Direct 2 Consumer set. I think it is a mixture of the three. If LEGO made a Dimensions pack of Eowyn vs the Witch-King, I would buy it for 30 dollars even though it would be just two minifigs and perhaps $5 of brick. Having not played Dimensions though, didn't they cover Middle Earth very well in the starter game? Would there be enough to have a new level pack for this?
  16. I am okay with both Batman and Ninjago CMF series. I like those lines well enough but LEGO should careful. If they make, for example, the best possible version of the Riddler in the CMF, then he no longer is a draw to sell Batman sets. I hope that Ninjago has some great samurai, monks, and civillians to add to historic MOCs. If they don't, it will be very easy to skip the CMF series.
  17. I scored one with pirate henchmen... but I did not revise mine to include rumored ones once the leaks started.
  18. People with an inside line do not reveal their sources or the sources would go silent.
  19. I image that the hiker will be a money saving minifig without any new molds. They would use the walking stick, scarecrow / farmers hat, existing backpack AND a 1 x 1 studless round piece printed as a compass.
  20. Series 16 comes out after Disney. I don't think we will see any of these at that Toy Fair. Still there are always interesting things to find out at these events.
  21. I don't like the Flying Warrior as a minifig. The Chima armor with the clipon wings aren't my thing. But it is a case where the pieces are better than the sum of his parts. Once I remove the helmet, armor, and wings, I have a great Classical hero minifig. I like the winged helmet but it feels out of place here. CM4Sci says that there will be "considerably medieval figure without an instrument" in the CMF 16 rumor thread.
  22. The play features don't matter to me. As a kid, I liked that 1877: Crusader's Cart folded up so that the Forestman could have underneath the wagon and that 6054: Forestmen's Hideout unfolded so you could access inside. The downside of that is that I couldn't get a slew of base plates to place all my set. Now a days the play features are flick fire something where you then have to find the pieces that you launched or explode out sections of a build. While that is not my style, they are easy to modify. The Deeping Wall at Helm's Deep no longer falls apart accidentally. But if such play features expand the appeal of LEGO, I am happy to endure them. They are easily to workaround them minidolls but they still broaden the audience. If only the bizarre colors, techno mold shapes and prints in Nexo Knights were easily to work around. At least the villains work in a fantasy setting. When Castle comes back, some of the new visions would work in traditional colors.
  23. I was in my Dark Age when the Wolf Pack came out, but I think the appeal of the Forestmen is that they were a different type of faction which coexisted with the Crusaders and Black Falcons. I don't know what more LEGO could have done with them at the time. it would have been wonderful if Kingdoms continued introducing a Forestmen type faction and expanding on the on Black Falcon. Perhaps the Nexo Knights will provide useful parts for a traditional Cadtle theme in the future, but unless next year's villains are some classic dragon knights I doubt we (this forum) will get a lot useful from it.
  24. I found some at a Target in OKC. I bought the three remaining in the LEGO aisle (Faun, Clumsy Guy, and Janitor), but when I was leaving I noticed most of a box near the checkout where all the gaming cards are kept.
  25. My apologizes that last meeting was from 12 to 2 due to the hours of the library. Our next meeting is 2 - 4 starting at Panera and then moving to the LEGO Store for the second hour. Details on our website: OKLUG.org
