In my vignette's defense I'm going to point out that fact that it is a pirate with a beach, tree, and a flag. He's been marooned on the island. Additionally with 8x8 restrictions you can't expect an entire island in minifig scale.

EB Community Castle Build: Discussion Thread
NewRight replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I am now committing myself to the Guestroom and Silver Smith. I hope I can get them done. -
All excellent suggestions. I thought I would add a few more. Bathrooms and Showers (Although they could be another room) Battle Strategy Room Bunks Repair Hangar Hangar for Seperate non-battle Starfighters Design Team Control Room Engine Room I wouldn't mind doing one. Perhaps the Battle Strategy room I suggested. Good luck with the rest of your project.

I have all intentions of picking up new paint. It just seems the hobby shop I visit is closed whenever I seem to have the free time to go. I think right now all I have is water based paint and it simply isn't working.
-
He does have two yellow spots on each side of the helmet, but due to the photograph glare and there small size they were washed out. I will have to make them larger and darker to be better seen in photographs.

I will be adding much more blue to the area around the visor and a little beneath it. I will also have additional little blue triangles on the back. I'm hoping to add much more detail to the back and I agree about the roughness of the kama. Can anyone tell me if the kama is suppose to be dark grey or black. In the LEGO sets it looks dark grey, but on action figures and in the shows its black with a blue outline. If you look closely you'll also see the torso is slightly customized and if I removed the pauldron more details could also be seen. I think I have the wrong brand of details as I ordered 2 packs from Testors, but the first pack applied quick and easy and with this pack I am pulling and struggling to get decals off of there sheet. You'll notice the arm decal is very crunched up look as with the custom leg decals.

This is my own rendition of Rex from StarWars the Clone Wars. Please keep in mind this is a very, very, rough sketch of Rex. I am mostly satisfied with the decals. Helmet designs are also decals other than basic LEGO printed patterns. I plan on redoing all of the decals and modifying the pauldron to a dark grey color with black stripes between each segmented section. I also want to add modified clips to the waistcape. The paint also has to be cleaned up, but still I really do like this figure so far. Head decals are modified version of: this and torso, arms, and legs are borrowed from Chaotic Good. Remember very rough.

These are all great! I will have to be using some of these shortly.

SteamPunk is a favorite theme of mine next to Space and Pirates and you do an excellent job of representing it here.

Custom made minifigs and acessories
NewRight replied to Caramon352's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I believe he does something called 3D printing. I could be wrong so don't hold me to it. Like said above me I would PM him to find out more. I can't wait to see what you bring to the customization community. -
You seem to sum up what everyone has discussed on my little vignette. I do like the water and have all intentions to leave it as is. I realize some people disagreed over the matter, but I think I can get away with it fine. Additionally there are only two studs or room to do anything, so I don't really think there is much I could achieve in that space. I would have added a few more palms, but when I tried adding more before I took photos of the mock the palm leaves seemed much to tall for a tree with a very short trunk. I hope you get what I mean by the palm leaves almost taking up a third of the tree. I do realize that it's not BrickBeard, but the name was so catchy I had to keep it. Lets try to looks past the name on this and focus on the MOC. I took a lot of inspiration from the Pirates of the Caribbean film when Jack is supposedly abandoned alone on the island in the sense the pirate I have left only his piratical coat behind and dove in in his pants and undershirt. Thanks to everyone for the feedback and suggestions!

Great entry. I love the use of 'X' tiles represent the sails. Very clever concept. I like your entry although with the lock (smart idea) I just don't find it believable. It would be quite large at the scale your have those ships. As well as the spiders which would be nearly 30 feet large if I'm not mistaken in comparison to your ships. I do like the mountain though and overall your entry looks great. I wish you the best of luck in the rest of PTV.

Greedy Imperial POLITICIANS! Excellent work on this entry. The chandelier parts usage is nice although it does seem a little bare. Maybe adding addional candles would help and changing your candles to use something along the lines of this in white for each candle stick and some of these for the wicks as if they are burning in yellow or black if they are not. The imperial who is accepting bribes office looks nice and I love the use of all the flags, pictures, etc. It certainly isn't a boring office. Fun concept.

That mine looks great! What a fine entry into PTV. A very nice new attempt indeed. I like the cart design. I never would have though to use crates as part of a cart. Very clever. The underground is good although I have to say I am against the use of the pre-fab rock you've used in the creation of yours. The flag and crane are nice additions although maybe the crane could be made a little smoother with some tiles and additional plates. All of those crystal are delicious. I have none and am quite envious of the number you have. The ground it a neat idea although its a little boring in my opinion. Maybe even more additional plants or soldiers would help to fix that. Great entry and I love the rock work. :pir-skull:

Great entry into the medium category! It is certainly a noteworthy one and very fun filled one at the same time. The first floor's SNOT work is great, but then the second deck/floor has a little to many studs for my liking. Its not that there are studs its that there is such a huge contrast between the two. The arches seem a little low as well on the second floor. All these slight flaws in the second floor that aren't entirely noticeable, but more subtle lead me to think that the top was just tacked on at the end as a separate addition just the make it look more 'firecracker able' :pir-skull: It is still a fantastic MOC and maybe I'm being to hard. I feel like I am, but I think a few change may help. I really like the flags btw and the minifigures decorated appearances are great! I see this going far in the PTV voting polls. Best of luck.

New Games Regulator: Dragonator!

Congrats to you Dragonator on your new role in the community! -
Fantastic work on this. All the details look great and that mountain is more than outstanding. As other have mentioned I would love to know the story behind this and maybe a little bit more than just that its your first pirate creation. Although for your first pirate creation it does looks great. The red sails look nice and ragged and the ship looks like it has clearly been sitting on the mountain for quite some time, unless of course water levels can drop so dramatically as to reveal a mountain. The age of the ship also leads me to think of the health of the minifigures which is remarkably good. If they were there for so long (assuming they were) would they not have turned to skeletons? The windows near the low part of the ship are also a little off setting as water would quickly pour through them in rough water causing the ship to sink. Still everything looks great and I'm digging that palm tree along with the overall design of the ship and mountain as I stated before.

I know I backed out by only making one of the three I promised, but now I am making it my goal to make at least one more before the project is complete. -
Maybe replace the black 1x2 plates with 1x2 tiles, but other than that great work. I think the other studs add great texture to the rest of the MOC, just not the flag. Still

Really well done. I love that underground cave and all of the details are amazing.
-
Excellent work on this. The imposing knights look very... imposing.
-
Congrats to all the winner. Great entries in all the categories.

Great work on this Svelte. The style of it is great.

Excellent work on this. The enormous size is simply brilliant.
