After a worrying long wait, mine finally arrived yesterday. Thank you all very much. -
Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
sgeureka replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
I haven't seen this image before: http://toysnbricks.c...-Cuusoo-Pre.jpg So it seems there is a tile on the dashboard for the time dates, but the 88 mph is shown by the very common 3070bp07 bley printed tile. Quote: "Instructions give the opportunity to add details to the car to modify it into 3 different versions, that represent the 3 different movies." -
Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
sgeureka replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
I went from "I am so gonna get this" (Cuusoo review win) to "not gonna get this" (first pictures with bad hood) to "now gonna get this again" because of the cute minifigs and the piece count. It doesn't look like 401 pieces, so the model may turn out bigger than my expectations. Since they have a printed flux capacitor, they so need a tile that says 88 mph. I hope the set is still available when a good S@H promo polybag comes along. -
I didn't expect any info so soon, yippie. I expect baguettes (4342), bottles (95228) and goblets (33061), and possibly the CMF artist's hat (90386). It's great that they specifically named it a French restaurant. When that one gets retired in a few years down the road, TLG can still release e.g. an Italian restaurant (pizza tile, mediterranean style) so that the newbie modular collectors can also give their townies something to eat. BTW, I dug up Jamie's quote about a possible restaurant. He was asked about the next modular in April 2012, and he answered "We [the Lego group] have lots of secrets that we have to keep. Don't tell anyone this secret, but I'm not a very good cook." The original link (now offline) was at http://messageboards.lego.com/en-us/showpost.aspx?PageIndex=1&PostID=5318515

Just checking in to say nothing has arrived yet, but it seems I am not the only one. Should I expect an envelope for 7 MFs (which would fit into a regular European mailbox), or a cardboard parcel (which is more likely to go through time-consuming customs or delivery problems because they need someone to sign upon reception). Fang, did you get tracking numbers when you mailed it? -
You could place some jewels vertically to the side of a building as a "sign". Good jewelly stuff are also the normal gold coins, the gold+silver bars from the Lone Ranger theme, and (for the building or the counter) the gold bricks from Christmas set 853345. The Trendsetter from CMF Series 10 is the perfect seller or customer for a jewellery store, I believe. Here's a picture that I took to symbolize wealth, maybe it gives you good ideas for your store: 10_P1180009 by sgeureka, on Flickr

Wow, see the red "flower" next to the puppy house? According to bricklink, they haven't been around since 2003.
-
Absolutely love it. I didn't know that white and the Friends pink/purple looked that well together, especially the roof. Darn that I missed out on the beauty shop.

60026 has been available in Germany since at least early May, both in the LEGO (online) store as well as in non-LEGO stores.
-
I saw it at Kaufhof (big general store in Germany), but the price tag said EUR 139.99 instead of the "normal" EUR 99.99 at the LEGO online store. I don't know the reasons for that, but I sure won't pay EUR 40 extra.
-
I love the way you built your tree protection and your big black fence.
-
Wow, thanks, GRogall. Just this morning, I was thinking about whether I should build my planned winter scene on one or two baseplates. I guess it's (at least) two then. 90 EUR sound way more expansive than I would have thought, but as long as the size of the set correlates with the price, I am fine with it.

This looks great, crayonboi. I'm looking forward to seeing them all attached side by side.

Choosing my final 8 was feasible, choosing my final 3 was nearly impossible. More people deserve points than the three I can give: 6) Plumber Entry (Build by Big Sal) - 1 pt 35) Mermaid Entry (Build by Cecilie) - 1 pt 45) Judge Entry (Build by JaseTJ) - 1 pt -

Again, it's very hard to choose from these excellent ideas. My vote goes: 1) Cowgirl Entry (Build by Yatkuu) - 1 pt 5) Downhill Skier Entry (Build by mlucia09) - 1 pt 27) Fairy Entry (Build by Cecilie) - 1 pt -

Very hard to choose my final 3, there are so many good ideas here: 12) Hippie Entry (pillpod) - 1 pt 16) NOT Swimming Champion BUT Daredevil Entry (DrLegostar) - 1 pt 34) Ocean King Entry (branolego) - 1 pt -
Thank you, antp, it's appreciated. The gold pieces make the whole building "glow" in prestige, whereas the black ones largely leave the building's appearance in its original state. Both fill up the nasty window holes. I am still undecided which of the two I like better.

antp, I agree that the gold lattice panes look superb. I originally intended to PaB-order black lattice panes along with the new Palace Cinema later this month, but now I think gold might be better. Would you post an image with black ones for comparison?

Naturally, that makes me worried that I'm one of the offenders. So for clearup, 2. A reasonable overhang is allowed to accommodate tree limbs or minifigures accessories, but may not exceed more than 2 studs outside the base. E.g the elements 4175 and 64390 overhang by design, but technically are neither tree limbs nor minifig accessories. So are they allowed to overhang the 8x8 studs, yes or no? Thanks.

After seeing people's amazing entries in Eurobricks contests, it's time for me to participate in one as well. This vignette is for the Fortune Teller, I'd place it in the theme "City". My inspiration was the TV series Carnivàle, which was set in the 1930s, but the vignette could take place in modern times as well, hence "City". Let's say the fortune teller is a cat freak, and she lives in a traveling carnival trailer with not much space. No WC available, so a chamber pot will have to do... Below is the outside of the trailer. (If the half-stud overlap of the door is against the rules, then disregard the last picture from the competition.) -
I don't know from where TLG draws its inspiration, but some of the main attractions of German Christmas markets are (don't know about the rest of the world): * Candy stalls (with red candy apples, brown star cookies like in 41006, big brown Lebkuchen hearts made of 3176) * Woodcraft (probably hard to do with bricks, maybe nutcrackers or a christmas pyramid) * Glühwein and Bratwurst stalls * small ferris wheel or a kid's carousel * big Christmas tree (already had that in 10199 Winter Toy Shop) * Christmas tree sellers (already had that in 10216 Winter Bakery)

Thank you, Grogall. I had my own small christmas market a few weeks ago after putting the Winter Village's post office and bakery amidst my modular town. I am very happy that the market is going to get extended at the end of the year.
