  1. "Yeah... we gonna dip. Peace!" Bobby flees.
  2. OoC: You're all returning questees, so I'll assume you know to keep a careful eye on me for this first battle especially. Scuba, you in particular, I haven't hosted a Marauder ever before. For example, Guts should be inspired. I've also never used mobs before, so be patient on that front. Legonator, for your weapon how does assassination work? I'd assume I roll for each "hit party" i.e. roll separately for Second Mate, Third Mate, Nordic Crew. Is that right? The Nordic Crew's total level was mis-listed on the opening post... it didn't effect the round, and has been remedied. Guts' Greatest Annoyance (Pirates) Battle Round One Guts uses Cloud of Celerity (All Allies Hastened) Dyric v. Third Mate - Critical Hit/Hit (([26*2]+31)*2=166 Damage, Second Mate KO'd, No Assassinations) Dyric v. Third Mate - Damage/Aim (26*2=52 Damage Crew/First Mate, 26 Damage Third Mate, 1 Member Nordic Crew Assassinated) Guts v. Nordic Crew & Third Mate - Special Damage (Party Blinded (Guts and Dyric Immune) and Enamored (Guts Immune)) (30/2=15 Ice Damage [Guts/Dyric Immune, -4 Matthias], Guts and Dyric Knocked Overboard) >Matthias v. Third Mate - Damage (29/2-4=15 Damage) >Matthias throws Bone at First Mate >Lane v. Captain - Critical Hit/Damage (40 Damage, KO'd) Barkley v. Second Mate (Success!) Pylon heals Matthias (Succes!) The heroes are able to hack down their enemies' number significantly, but Lane ends up hitting the deck and Dyric and Guts can't seem to hang onto the deck what so ever, ending up in the ocean. 3. Boomingham produces his handkerchief to mop his brow again. He chews on the inside of his cheek. "Wouldn't say I dislike the Wolfgang. Only bona fide member of it I've really met was a chap named Poncho and he was a good man." Boomingham wrings out his handkerchief. "But Ulric is a different can of worms. The houses... look, I'm not saying there aren't problems. But they're not royalty, at least. They've done something to get where they are. The Hinckwells... sure, they inherited it, and the Bonapartes too from what I've heard, but they do the work to be where they are. Anyone who needs to use a witch to brainwash people into thinking he's a good choice to lead probably isn't the best choice to lead."
  4. "Yeah, dude, killing isn't dope. Not my speed. But if you gotta do, you gotta do." Bobby attacks Star Elf A from the front row.
  5. Boomingham explodes with laughter. "Aye. Still unsure why exactly we're here… what was it again? To spy on the naughty aunties for our goody auntie?" Boomingham uncorks a mead and starts to drink it. "What was it you did in Babeleth? I don't believe I've heard the story."
  6. "Perhaps some dicey wording on my part - such is the issue with these games. My first statement was a lie. It's how Gerald and I met, me stealing from him." Guffington raises his glass to her. She sighs. "But you're right, Hybros, I am still a warrior in my own right. Just used to do it a bit more organized. You can keep your gold. We'll call that round a wash. Perhaps one of you can go now?" OoC: You can search for the word experience, if you want the exact quote. You may both post one at the same time, too, to speed things up a little for the rest of the party. "I certainly hope there are no dangers," says the U'Kin, glancing around nervously. "We should be in Dastan in only a day and night. I doubt we will run into anything until then. Besides, who would bother a ship with two dragons?" "Very well." Elba smiles ferociously at the dragon. "Guess there really isn't a need for a race… and as far as actual maneuvering goes, the ship can't hold a candle to you. No all around turns like that." OoC: We will move on shortly, once Hybros and Arthur finish up with their game.
  7. "My plan was to bring heroes." "She's called the Hydra. There are cards below deck. A little bit of booze too." The heroes retire below deck, and things are pretty smooth sailing for a few days. Guts and Lane handle most of the actual work while the others wile away the time doing this and that, swapping stories, playing some card games. The heroes are asleep in their bunks one night when they hear Lane's panicked cry. "Heroes!" They rush up to the deck. Daneeka has strange thick blood pooling under him, and Barkley growls fiercely at the intruders. Another ship is pulled up alongside The Hydra, with more pirates ready to jump aboard, mostly norms by the looks of things. "Get off my ship!" Matthias not Encouraged (and I believe you have to remove one artifact to wear the DDSSA, so please pick one, but it won't count as a turn) OoC: Sorry for not getting images of the two personally made combatants. Rain for the last few days… but tomorrow looks to be bright and sunny, so we should be ready to rock. 8. OoC: Should have gained 10 gold from the battle. "I was born into it," laughs Boomingham, though his eyes are narrowed at the mention of the Wolfgang. "I was a King for a while. Back in the Orcish wars. I wouldn't mind accompanying you to the magic shop before we make our way to the library. Might as well see what they have."
  9. "Great." Boomingham wipes his brow before healing all injured party members. "Well, if we've had enough fun collecting poison and old relics, I think it's time I finally get to the library." Boomingham wrinkles his forehead. "You're not crazy, Rex. I see the little fellers too." Boomingham nods respectfully to the little men. "Howdy, chaps."
  10. Captain Elba, to his credit, seems stricken by his mistake. "My apologies, Hoke. I've been to my fair share of places, even Dastan a few years ago, but I haven't met a dragon yet." Elba salutes Torc. "I apologize!" he yells to the dragon. "Think she could out do the ship? Want to give it a try? Perhaps a wager? If I lose, you'll have to never mention it to Daneeka. He'll be heart broken. He's been able to build a flying ship, but it's not nearly as fast as the Ji Pei's." The Race: The race will play out over 3 turns. Each turn the die will be rolled for both the ship and the dragon to determine wind resistance. At the end of the turn, Hoke/Elba may choose to reroll the die. This will add 1/2/3 to their final wind resistance number (depending on the round). If they choose to not re-roll the die, they will receive the same wind resistance the following round. Whoever has the lowest total wind resistance at the end of 3 rounds is the winner. Ask any questions if the rules are unclear (I hate writing rules). Felix patiently waits for Arthur's answer.
  11. "I know you are a stoic loner, Guts, but sometimes when you meet new friends you bring them a gift. It is like a bottle of wine." A grating tittering sound issues forth from Daneeka's breathing apparatus - something Guts has come to recognize over the years as the Doc's laugh. "They are gifts to the people there. And, I will not lie, I am interested to see what we can do with them once we have them all in the place they originated from." "It is good to know we have friends of Russel and Pigley aboard," says Pylon before Matthias excuses himself. "I don't doubt that the Anvil has great power. But I do not put too much credence in myth. I find anything lacking first person sources diluted." Doc Daneeka hands the gnome the DDSSAs. "You may give them a try. Tell me what you think." OoC: We'll move on shortly, just hoping to allow Legonator to get in a few words edgewise.
  12. "A vat? No. We only wish to bring them as offerings. All these were once relics of Etheria itself, near the dawn of time - it is said that is where the soul was born. But that too is surely just a myth." "The Anvil is near Duplovia, in the ruins the giants once lived in. The Fountain of Youth is rumored to be somewhere in Baltarok, but as I said, it's exact location is difficult to pin point. We will try our best. There are old maps - we will simply have to acquire one."
  13. "Being above the clouds certainly makes for less stormy weather." Elba pulls his tricorne down as it tries to flutter away. "Though it's a bit windier. Seems you know that though-" he glances at Torc. "That big one your's?" Elba offers a hand, keeping the other locked carefully on the wheel. "Captain Elba, by the by. And you are?" "Very well..." Lady Felix bobbles her head back and forth for a short while. "I have never stolen from Gerald Guffington, I was once a warrior a life time ago, and I inherited my trade secrets from my mother." She smiles grandly. "I- I, I understand." U'Or bows. "We have had some bad employees in the past just as you've had some bad employers. I guess it makes sense for us both to be careful makes sense." He looks at the horizon. "Have you ever been to Dastan, Lady Purpearl?"
  14. Bobby's face falls as he knocks one of the elves either unconscious or worse with his whip. He turns to Elf A from the front row and prepares to ward him off. "Dude, you can still ditch, won't be nothing wrong with that."
  15. Boomingham shudders as the poison rushes through his blood. "Just got to win quickly," he calls as jollily as possible as he repeats his attack.
  16. "Have you ever known me to go into a situation under prepared." Daneeka's eyes twinkle. "The second item we will be acquiring is a drop of water from the Fountain of Youth. It has been very hard to find any research on it, as the map leading to it has been last for many years. If you read ancient enough tomes, though... it is said that those who drink of the fountain are granted lives much longer than would possibly be imagined, and granted them great immunity to physical abuse. Most tomes, however, warn that it does not in fact grant the eternal life it has become associated with in modern tales. Those who drink from it can, in many exceptional circumstances, still die. It is also alluded to in some of the most ancient texts I've perused that many many years ago, before many races who walk Olegaia had even been conceived, every mortal drank from the Fountain. That practice has obviously been discontinued. To collect that, I have brought..." Daneeka holds up a vial. "A small vial." "Our more immediate artifact has less history but allowed me more capacity for ingenuity. The Anvil of Oleg, from which it is said he formed all temporal things. This is, clearly, in my estimation, a myth, though it does seem to have great power of creation. It is also quite heavy." Daneeka produces two metallic gloves. "These are Doc Daneeka's Super Strong Arms, DDSSA for short. I believe they will allow us to lift the Anvil, but I wouldn't say no to a trial run. Perhaps you or one of your companions would like to try them?" DDSSA (Handwear, +2 Health, +2 WP, +10 Power) "I am High Priest Pylon of the Frog Paladin Order. As for completely reformed-" "I shall tell him. I was at one point in my life rather a vagabond... after a bad run of owners... one of which is one this ship." Barkley glares at Daneeka. "But I was brought to justice by Russel Ruffers and his Sir Pigley, and brought to the Frog Paladins for judgment. Pylon spared me, and allowed me a new life with the Bonapartes. Captain Lane is the most noble and kindest owner I have ever known."
  17. Boomingham and Rex repeat.
  18. -On Deck (U'Or, Miirym, Hoke, Purpearl)- U'Or seems cowed by all the questions. "Oh... oh dear. I guess being a hero makes you distrustful I guess. Oh dear. Master Guffington is not a liar though. I told you, the Flame will be guarded by Dragons, and we will not have an easy time getting it - it's like Miirym says, we will have to prove ourselves to the Dragon Guardians so we will not have an easy time getting it since they are greedy and guard their treasures carefully. The Dragons of Dastan, that is. I am told..." "The artifact in Xu will not have to be won by force. We have great friends at the Temple we are visiting. I have never met them, but Master Guffington is not a violent man, and would be even less likely to harm his friends. They are simply holding the Breath for us." "As for your companions..." U'Or shuffles through some more documents. "The Anvil of Oleg, associated with flesh, bone, the physical things of this world. With creation. With use of tools. With combat. With sex... oh dear." U'Or blushes. "And... the Water from the Fountain of Youth. It is said to grant immortal life... or something similar. It is also associated with the ability to adapt and change. Those are what your companions are after those things." U'Or rubs his hands together nervously. "Is that all on the table enough for you? I am not opposed to questions, I just... I don't understand the hostility." He looks over the edge of the ship at the clouds rolling by. Dusk has started to fall.
  19. -In The Cabin (Guffington, Felix, Arthur, Hybros)- "The game of skill is a little different. Gerald, are you ready?" He nods. "This is an old drinking game. I don't know if I've ever played with Gerald before, but that is all the better. This game is called Two Truths and a Lie. It is simple. We will go around the circle and say three things about ourselves - two truths, one lie. Then the rest of the circle guesses which is the lie. Every person who guesses the lie correctly will be paid ten gold out of the pocket of the person who made the statements. Everyone who guesses incorrectly will pay ten gold to the person who made the statements. Easy enough? Would you both like to play?"
  20. <I am Sir Barkley Barkington!> exclaims the dog. <And he has been perfectly reformed,> says the frog stoically. <Yes, thank you, Pylon. I was getting to that. Allow me some dignity.> <It is important we do not forget our past.> Lane watches Matthias suspiciously as he talks to the animals.
  21. "Yo bro, I don't mess with missions I'm not behind morally, you dig?" Bobby repeats.
  22. They're intentionally rare because they entirely undermine the only things that makes Knight classes special.
  23. I think mobs will be a good answer to that. I haven't used them myself yet, but be warned, 139, they're certainly on my mind.
  24. "That is where the trouble may arise. We need only a small flame from the Heart Flame, and it will be able to regenerate it easily. It burns forever. But dragons can be jealous and guard their treasures, even if there are enough to go around." Lady Felix plops 30 gold onto the table to match Hybros'. This time she draws a Ten of Clubs, and Hybros pulls a Queen of Clubs, proving his luck did truly turn around. She nods to him. "Your move."
  25. "Simply waiting, yes." U'O smiles. "Master Guffington has some good friends in the land of Xu. And I think you will find he likes to mix business with pleasure. He will need your assistance surely in Dastan - think of the cost to sail you there, then back, then have himself fly there and past there to Xu, and then to Etheria. I ran the numbers and it is much more efficient to do it all in one trip. Besides, why rob you of the chance to see Xu?" This time Lady Felix draws a Jack of Clubs, and Hybros a Nine of Spades. She pockets the gold. "Perhaps we should play again with a smaller opening bet." Would Hybros like to play again?
