  1. "I know Eubric is the Freeport, but if you are to understand Dastan it is important to know we have been the same for eons. It makes the peoples' heads spin when change is implemented. We still call our Dragon Knights by the name Dragon Knights, and they haven't had dragons since hundreds of years ago. I am of the same mind - U'Daras has made an excellent addition to the Dragon Knights, and I don't doubt she'll serve as a powerful Empress. But I understand my peoples concerns. This is a Dastan my own father would never recognize." "I likewise understand your concerns for Blackenord's inventions. I was protective at first, but both Natasha and her Golden Inventor have proven themselves able friends of Dastan." <I wish there were more I could offer. All things in time. The more you empty your mind, the more you will feel the thoughts of others. It is easier if you learn to listen first and speak second.> "I am well aware, yes." Septrine grimaces. "Ella insists that she continue to step out into the streets. This is not the first time there has been violence against her. I worry for her, but she demands she be allowed to see the people daily. She will take over for me one day and already serves as a trusted advisor, who am I to tell her what to do?" "As with all my enemies, it feels... he was once a good friend. He, Constance and I all served as Dragon Knights for a short time, and all lost an eye in the business. Sven is an... he's an honorable man. He was an honorable man. I haven't spoken to him in a decade, so swept away in being an Emperor. But even then, he proved himself a war hero during the invasion of Drakencourt. Led a few brave and scattered soldiers against the invading Lion Knights and won handily. The people listen to him and respect him for good reason." "I know of the Great Guffington, and know more than enough about the troubles in Dastan. I go by a second name, the Bearer of the Golden Light. I head up an organization, the Golden Crusade, that's interested in seeing kingdoms take that next big step forward. We heard that things were getting a little dicey with the U'Kin here, and I came around to make sure U'Daras didn't have too difficult a time taking the throne. And yes, a warrior. I hail from Vartland originally. I can promise you, you're worth very little there if you can't fight. A prophet too, to boot. Ella and I have gotten on a-okay."
  2. OoC: Sorry, that was just me being an idiot and calculating as if you bought the flame-distilled instead of the mead. You can go challenge it if you want. "Why not?" says the woman gruffly. "It's one of my gifts. I know your name and Lane's and McColt and Dyric's and even Daneeka's upstairs. Same way you know how to hold a blade. Just something you can do. Just something I can do. My name is Nona." "The bartender overcharged you? I think he undercharged me." Lane swirls his wine. "Seems to be the nervous scatter-brained sort." OoC: No worries, just best for me to know! Good luck with those hours. "Most assuredly it could be something that we deal with swiftly. The Shivering Square is a group of snakes who worship Hissvetia. They are, I gather from the Paladins of our order, bad news for the most part. If they are indeed in this city is would be best to ferret them out, I believe."
  3. Barty hovers around a corner as Boomingham yanks on his new suit of armor and swiftly signs the piece of paper that has materialized. Bobby, meanwhile, in mild confusion, signs a piece of paper as he absent-mindly stares at a wall that may or may not be there.
  4. "Of course. Any hero is a friend of mine. They saved my life and the life of my daughter, so we owe your organization an enormous debt. Please make yourself comfortable. I'm Emperor Severus Septrine, by the way." He offers his hand. "Hi. My name is Natasha. It's good to meet you, Hybros." She cracks her knuckles. "I'm guessing you're guests of Septrine's, huh? Ella said she thought she saw some friends coming." She scratches her forehead. "What brings you to Dastan?" "Blackenord... funny you'd bring him up. Haven't thought about him for years and then recently, just a few months ago, this fellow came to town and started to poke around about him. He's supposed to be at dinner now, but he's probably in one of the studies... he's like that, you'll find. Eccentric. Got his hands on a bunch of Blackenord's notes. Say what you want about the bastard, but he made automatons that worked. I figured we might as well try to do some good with his notes." "And aye. Ella and Tarn. No date yet. Things are a little iffy in the city at the moment. U'Daras tells me you already saw that. So, one thing at a time." "...no, truly, things are better now than they have been in years. There has been political unrest recently with my ascension to the throne growing more imminent has caused more political unrest. But I am the first U'Kin Dragon Knight leader ever to be U'Kin." "Oh my... well, if you say so. Things are much better in Eubric, that I can assure you." "Every land has it's troubles, Eubric no exception. I know that when Ella was there she stayed in the Slums, as that is where the Oracle is. Surely those people rebel as well. At least in Dastan the people are willing to put their hearts where their mouths are. It isn't ideal to have chaos on the streets, and the old racism is just that, but the people... we know if they are discontent, is what I'm trying to say." "This is the trouble we face a great trouble. For many years the U'Kin were unhappy and left silenced for many years. How can we now silence others?"
  5. 139 is the quest I've had to go back and re-read stuff the most for so far. That's issue with revisiting pretty much every location and character I've used so far.
  6. "All sound like heroic things." McColt also orders a mead. "What about the others? Probably more of the same. Where are you and your crew headed now? Your captain mentioned that this was an unplanned detour." "...you don't say. We just came from Eubric ourselves." "I was there too long." The woman grunts. "Guts, if you're looking to chat you can just come out and say it."
  7. "Oh dear." The man starts to package the rum, trying to do some quick mental math. It takes him a while... "That will be 148, please and thank you!" "What have I been up to? Quite honestly, nothing, which is almost the way I prefer it. A good guard's job is done when he doesn't have to do anything. Peace has come to Haddon. We have worked to construct a small wall around the city, as you saw when you entered, but we have yet to put it to use. Maybe just the sight of it keeps ruffians away. Regardless, things have been good. But I'm sure you have more stories than I do. What have you been up to since Wren was defeated?" McColt glances at the bar keep. "A drink for my friend. You can put it on my tab. Order whatever you'd like, Dyric." "It is for the most part a peaceful town. We had a Paladin here once by the name Sir Earl Poletad. He made a god connection with McColt, and heroes as well, and we have utilized it ever since. Sir Poletad has sadly gone missing in recent months, after we sent him north." Pylon shakes his head. "It happens to Frog Paladins more often than we'd like." "This hole, however..." Pylon stares at it. "Do you see the light in it? It looks unnatural to me. Poletad said he suspected some agents of the Shivering Square might be in the city, but he never tracked them down. It is possible that this might be what he was looking for. I'd investigate, but I need some back up. I am merely a priest, no warrior. If you can track down some minimizing dust, perhaps we could work together."
  8. "...not today. It will just be more lives lost. The Dastanians will take back our nation, but not that way." The man glances at Hoke and nods to him. "Look there. Who among you can kill that dragon and its rider. None." The protestors begin to shuffle away. "I know, Arthur. But it is proving easier said than done." <It is both. I shall try to teach both you and Torc some of what I know. Once you know of the Spirit Pools, you can feel the strength of all creatures.> "He was a Dragon Knight. His name is Sven Conikus. He is proving a trouble maker." She turns on her heel. "I wished to speak to the people, but there's no chance of that now. They are leaving, and the fire still hasn't died." The heroes and Ella step inside and follow the others. After a few minutes of freshening up, they all congregate at the feast hall. Once the sight of a great battle, it is now filled with small tables, food, and drink. Ten or so odd guests mill around - both those they brought, and a few others. OoC: Apologies, Photobucket is doing that thing where it won't let me resize the picture to a proper size, will fix it ASAP. "Heroes! Welcome back to Dastan once again." Septrine smiles widely. "Please, enjoy the feast. My daughter and your friend Tarn will be down shortly to join us all."
  9. Oh my god Vorpalis can mash two heroes into only one hideous creature?? That's crazy!
  10. Wouldn't Be Dastan Without Civil Disorder Round Four Hybros v. Civilians A & B - Hit/Special Damage ([45+8+37]*2*2*2=720) ([30+8+37]*2*2=180, Poisoned -7, Cursed) Hybros v. Vipera drifts alongside Torc as she finishes the battle, breathing fire down upon the battle field. Vipera adds her own flame to the inferno, and though a much smaller stream it burns even hotter. The heroes are enclosed in a flaming circle with a clear path to the palace open. The citizens who didn't take up arms step back, afraid of the might. The Battle is Victorious! 11. Maybe I'm thinking of the first time I hosted you. I just remember you being the person to introduce duel-strike to my list of feared terms/rolls.
  12. OoC: Picture edited in. Also, The Legonator/Stickfig, you both seem to not be replying within a 24 hour window. I know I just took a few days off, but please, if somethings up (either personally or if the quest isn't catching your interest!) let me know. I can help on the quest side of things, hopefully. The personal side of things... can't help so much, but would be good to know about! "Oh dear..." the man trails off as he sees all the heroes trooping in. "Yes, here are my specialties. Our bar does have a strike drink it here policy... You can take the rum with you, however, since that's in a bottle." The Hung Head Mead (Causes the encouraged-effect, doubling the target's attack power for the duration of one battle.) Costs 10 gold. Ambrosia - Causes the reinforced-effect, double the target's defense for the duration of one battle. Costs 20 gold. Flame-distilled Brandy - Causes the encouraged- and the immune to ice-effects for the duration of one battle. Costs 20 gold. Mulled Wine - Causes the inspired-effect, doubling the target's current and maximum health for the duration of one battle. Costs 20 gold. Rum - The favorite drink of any common pirate, giving it to them makes them your friend. Does not work on pirate leaders, though. Costs 7 gold.
  13. Maybe it's just because it's anniversary time, but I swear I've gotten this exact OoC 100 times and just wanted to share a laugh. When I was scrolling through 138 I literally froze and was like "damn it, I forgot Skrall's natural respite again!" before remembering it wasn't my quest. That's how automatic my response to that is.
  14. "Yo, bro, you effed shiz up, don't pretend it was a plan. Just own what you did, dude." Bobby shakes his head at Mhinak. "Whatever, if peeps want to split, that's they're call, I'm sticking with Miderun and Kiray and Bain because Bain told us to go it together and I've seen Latte and he's not chill." Bobby stands behind Miderun. "Lead the way, lady."
  15. During the 127 side-quest Nerwen used Dirge of the Phoenix with a Black Knight for pretty awesome results.
  16. Boomingham yanks the armor on, removing his scarlet hood in the process. OoC: Sandy, correct me if I'm wrong, the armor counts as one artifact but takes up three slots, right? Also, Tome of Affluence.
  17. Blessed fixed. Miirym got no kill... took me a while to figure out what happened, but I recorded the battle actions wrong. You had her target Civilians B. I originally kept her on Protestors A because I copied it from last round. Then I realized that was wrong. So I went back, un-KO'd them, and apparently accidentally moved her attack to Protestors B... so I was wrong, fixed it, you were wrong on how to fix it, but right that I was wrong a second time.
  18. Bobby stares up at the enormous statue of the lady and finds he has trouble keeping his eyes off of her more aesthetically pleasing elements. Eventually he's able to rip his eyes away and look at the map. He scratches his head. "Where's the 'you are here' x?" he asks. He nods fervently while Miderun lays out her plan. "Sounds tight, let's nail it." Then with a glance at both Miderun and Kiray. "But stay close to me, yo... I don't want to get lost."
  19. Well duel-strike I've got down pat now... I think... after hosting Pretzel. These new classes always spin me for a loop especially the first time I host them. I like rolling for Dragons though, they're nice and simple!
  20. Hm, then I think I calculated Hybros' damage wrong that round - I'll leave it as is, but thank you for clarifying. I think it was the striking the one person thing that got me tripped up. EDIT: Oh, wait, no, I should redo it. I thought I was being kind, but really I should have used his level twice as well, right? I've probably been doing that wrong as well when he's been striking one target. I'll fix this round right now!
  21. The heroes follow the others to the tavern. OoC: The tavern being one of the few sets I have yet to finish for the whole quest... it's built, but not photographed. It should be up within 12 hours. Bear with me. Once they arrive Lane and McColt help Daneeka up the steps and into his room. Returning, McColt takes up a place at the bar and beckons to Dyric, while Lane sits at the table with a stranger with a peg leg and red eye and strikes up a conversation. Pylon and Barkley, meanwhile, congregate around a hole in the wall. Who would the heroes approach?
  22. OoC: I apply fragile after subtracting SP. So Miriym rolled damage, 42-10=32*2=64. Fixed the bleeding, thank you Question for Marauder (and maybe this is to Pie) how do we deal with elemental benefits from the weapons? Do they just apply to the whole attack? They must, right? Wouldn't Be Dastan Without Civil Disorder Round Three Hybros takes a Health Core Hybros v. Civilians A - Hit/Damage ([5+8+37]*2=100, Fragile, [45+8+37]*2*2=720) Arthur v. Protestors B - Breath (53-15=38) U'Voros does nothing Mallelio heals Torc - Failure Vipera makes Hoke Lucky - Success Dastanian Soldiers sort of mill around Hoke I guess The heroes continue to drive their foes back. Miirym lands on Arthur's shoulder just as he thrusts his way into a group of Armored Protestors and they are able to incapacitate a total of three enemies in one fluid motion. Lady Felix, however, betrays the fact that her true "warrior days" are behind her as she is swept away in the crowd, swinging wildly until they beat her into submission. U'Daras angrily impales one of the Protestors, who screams out with his dying breath a slew of what one can only assume are derogatory terms for the U'Kin. 23. Had three days of a music festival, my last day of summer employment, my father's birthday, a visit to my grandmother's and hosting some guests, but I'm back now, so expect updates over the next hour. Thank you for your patience.
  24. Bobby follows the others to Valhullu and after a bit of thought jogs up to Mide. He's a little afraid to speak his opinion to her, but he figures they're friends. "Yo, Mide, I know you're people have got their customs and ways and I'm not trying to mess with that, you dig? Like this place is bonkers no questions asked and I don't even have a small clue as to who the good guys are and who the bad guys are or what the sitch actually is, you know what I'm saying? But like I think most of these people are like Na'im like all hooity tooity so you gotta be chill with them and play the game, know what I'm saying? Like no yelling just all 'yes thank you m'am' when the elves are around like obvi we're not exactly doing their thing but like when they're around we just gotta play it cool. So, maybe we could do that, yo. Like, it sucks, but just you know for a bit while we're here?" Bobby blushes nervously.
  25. Hey y'all! Hosting a friend tonight, and then we're headed off to Mad Decent Block Party for the whole day tomorrow, so probably will not be able to update for some 48 hours or so. I'll try to wedge it in tomorrow before leaving for the day, but it's unlikely. Thanks for your patience! CMP and Khrone have control if need-be, as always.
