  2. "It's been a few years, hasn't it? Didn't expect to see you back in these parts - the frogs in town dragged me to the gate, and I learned a while ago to listen to them when they get into a hissy." Lane shoves to the front, supporting Daneeka. "Is there a place this man can rest for a few days? He's been injured." "Surely. Any friend of the heroes is a friend of mine. We can put him up in a local tavern, free of charge. I can put you all up in the local tavern." He glances at the silver frog. "That one can ask his friends where it is." Pylon leads Lane, Daneeka, and Barkley into the city as McColt returns his gaze to the heroes. "Haddon has been quieter since you're last visit, so I don't think you'll be finding any fights, but we do have a casino you could kill some time at, and a decent magical shop. And of course the tavern."
  3. Boomingham and Rex repeat from the front row. "Assuming you don't like the this fellow preying on the weak then, either?" Boomingham says to Barty, who simply stands strong in front of the party, ignoring the former King.
  4. It's in 139 (West). And I don't know. I go back and forth on if it's OP, because I actually doubt there'll be many times when it does go past harming two enemies at the level Guts' is at. So, like I said, we'll just need to test drive it.
  5. OoC: Two notes. A) still don't have time to fix gold (bleh). B) Mobs should deal a free hit if they still outnumber the heroes at the end of the round. I've added that to their stats, just so you remember. Wouldn't Be Dastan Without Civil Disorder Round One >Hybros v. Civilians B - Damage/Special Damage (110/2=55 Damage*2=110 Damage) >Hybros v. The heroes are clearly better trained, but the number of their foes is overwhelming, and they're surrounding to top it off. Each of them is buffeted from an unexpected side, and the tight formation makes it difficult for the bulkier Torc to even operate at the height of her power. 6. I know, the more I look at it the more OP I feel like it is, so I retain the right to nerf it if need be by the end of the quest, but I want to at least see it in combat first and see how it plays! I think I should have limited it so it only carries over to one enemy, and then stops. But, like I said, we have to see how it does first. At least let him torture me with it a little before I try to make it so that the other QMs don't hate me
  7. Bobby glances at Bain, then at the retreating figures, than at Kiray and Mide... "Okay, yo, so let's do like a checklist of what we actually want to do, you dig? First, we gotta get Bain's dude out of prison, right? So that's one. Then apparently Polly is captured and shiz, so that's two, but we gotta wait for that since she's at like the city. So maybe that's three. So our other two is to find the brown nekrastone so the forest doesn't die, right? So can we do all that shiz? Just one two and three?"
  8. "Roger that." As Pylon and Matthias heal Daneeka Matthias also translates for Pylon, who has Lane guide the ship into a little grove where it should be well hidden. Lane bites his lip as to abandoning the ship... "Daneeka is a friend," he decides finally. "A ship is a ship. Let's move." He, Barkley, Daneeka, Pylon and the heroes travel into the forest, following Pylon as he hops along swiftly. "One of our best warriors made connections in this town years ago," says Pylon to Matthias. "I hope it's still good." Late at night they pass through a familiar rocky pass, though Dyric can't quite put his finger on how he knows it, and the next morning after catching a few fitful hours of sleep they come to a small kingdom with some small walls and ragged defenses, and looking down on the rooftops Dyric is finally able to place the mountains around him and the town itself. He's back in Haddon. The heroes make their way to the entrance of the town and are greeted by a stern looking man, who smiles tightly at Dyric. "Dyric. Heroes." He bows the slightest bow possible. "Welcome to Haddon. How may I assist you?"
  9. Me neither. I'll talk about it when we're done. I'm loving the quest, but feel like maybe there's too much freedom. Its funny, because I think Sandy might be experiencing the same thing playing through 132 - another quest that I'm thoroughly enjoying, but am not totally sure what's going on anymore or where they should be. Not a slight to either quest or QM. They offer way more choice than I ever could (or even will). Just something we're still working to balance out, I feel like.
  10. "Yo, Mide, chill." Bobby's voice has got a little edge to it. "Like I said, let's just all like catch up later, yo, when we're just best buds hanging out around a camp fire, you dig?" He darts his eyes at the elves, hoping his friend might catch his drift. "These are cool customers, don't worry. We're going to meet them in like four days, yo, so let's just let them bounce and stop bothering their time."
  11. Yeah, been trying to track down a crimson haze for years. I wanted it more badly than these scroll improvements, because I liked the idea of having a poison weapon (because Boomingham's past comes back to haunt him so he inflicts slow burn poison damage bada bing bada boom) but it wasn't in the cards.
  12. "He's a bit tricky," chuckles Boomingham. "Wouldn't expect anything less from a knight." Boomingham repeats his attack from the back row, and Rex attacks from the back row as well.
  13. Bobby hops off the horse and grins. "Aight, you ladies got it!" He beams upon seeing the rest of his party. "Yo! Dope to see you all! Can't wait to catch up a bit once we're chilling later." He eyes the Creed a little anxiously. "Bain, just chill, yo. These ladies are sweet A.F. They saved our megablocks when we got into shiz with Latte."
  14. "We get help." Lane points to Daneeka, who is gasping on the ground, blood still pumping out of his body. "You can stop the bleeding, but looks like they got him with something nasty. We need to get him somewhere safe where he can rest up a few days." Lane glances at the shore, showing now in the earliest shadows of dawn. "Don't know these parts of the High Kingdoms. We're already too far north of Newharbour to turn around and dock there... the waters in these parts seem to look alright for a landing party... but even so. Where would we take him? Unless anyone has any connections in these parts." <Tell the captain I may know a place,> says Pylon as he hops up to Daneeka. <And aid me in healing this man, Matthias.>
  15. OoC: I realized I never re-adjusted gold for the games played aboard the boat. I don't have time to go look back now, but don't let me forget to do it with the next update! This is equally a note for you guys and myself. The heroes draw nearer and nearer to the palace. The Dragons' and Hybros' intimidating stares scare off three of the protestors. "They won't view me as a foreigner, but they believe Tarn will do a great amount of the leading. I have always taken an interest in politics, but you know the land of Dastan well. I have no interest in battles or wars, and the Emperors of Dastan have always been warriors. Most people believe that Tarn will serve as a leader far more than I will, that he shall overpower my say. Though my say itself is sometimes rather unpopular among the masses." The heroes make it to the Palace steps and are greeted by another familiar face. Mallelio waves to the heroes in greeting, but whatever he says is lost as the crowd swells up, chanting. "Dastan for the Dastanians!" over and over again. And, in a cruel twist of fate, U'Or proves unable to handle anything that life throws at him as a small stone whips out of the crowd and hits him in the head. He begins to bleed slightly. "Bad choice," Lady Felix sneers at the crowd as she whips out her mace. "Anyone want to own up?" But the crowd just screams louder. Another rock flies at the party, this time slamming into U'Voros' shield. The crowd draws weapons. "Non-combatants, in the center, now!" barks U'Daras. 18. "Things did get better... things are better, on a whole. We tore down the wall cutting the U'Kin off from the main portion of the city, and met with little resistance on that front. Even U'Daras' appointment as head of the Dragon Knights was met with, opposition, yes, but not an overwhelming amount once she proved herself in combat. But, well, it's not even a human supremacy thing so much as... I was waiting until we got to the Palace to tell you, but Victor has taken ill. Badly ill. It is possible he will recover, likely given his iron will even, but he can no longer serve as Emperor. U'Daras will be ascending to one of the three thrones shortly, and people who were okay with it in theory have discovered they feel differently now that it's happening. I'm also partially to blame." She blushes. "The fact that Tarn is not from Dastan is not lost on people. They fear that an outsider and a U'Kin will lead two-thirds of their nation." "Please." "The dragons were dwindling in numbers even before they isolated themselves they were already dwindling in numbers. They resigned themselves to their fate, which did not help them. And the races are those that are long gone are the races they refer to. Many of them we have lost to time we've lost many of them. Olegaia was once a very different place, and dragons have long memories. Gods and monsters walked across the land. Giants, forest guardians, Sayyips, Mindflayers, the Moon Elves, all near extinct now if not already gone." "As I said to Lady Purpearl, the Dragons have lived a long time as I said to Lady Purpearl. But no, not all have lost hope. Vipera serves as an ambassador for their people Vipera serves as an ambassador, and few object to it. They fly through the skies once more, which just four or five years ago was a sight unheard of four or five years ago." "As for peace among races, we all wish it." As they draw closer to the palace, the heroes realize that more and more protestors are blocking their way. U'Voros, at the head of the party, has to shove through. Some of the protestors are clearly armed. "This is not the homecoming I was hoping for... oh dear..."

  22. Bobby's head aches from yet more information. He's having trouble keeping all the factions straight. They work for the queen, which is... the elves, which these elves just saved them from those elves and the guardians are friends with the elves but the were snakes are the villains who are working with the pale skinned people who own the stones so probably should be the good guys and Bain was okay apparently and the guardians were going to execute her which is not dope and they'd been hired to get the stone back to the elves but why was that again and why was that one guy named after a coffee drink...? Bobby focuses his attention on confirming his suspicious that Hisime smells good and also paying close attention to how the two women responded to the dwarf on the whole killing situation.
  23. OoC: Nostrums and meads will be honored. Thank you. "In the end they got the job done which is all one can ask for, that one gets the job done." U'Daras glances over her shoulder as well, still evidently distracted. <Arthur is a true hero, this is certain. I am sure he has taken all precaution in raising you, but there is only so much one can learn from books. Dragons have long memories, and our talons are not conducive to writing.> Vipera shifts her weight on Hoke's shoulder a little. <We are a race of oral tradition, but even then, there is no better way to learn the ancient ways of the dragons than to fly in those same night skies they once fly in. And Charis Dragons may hail from a different land, but Dastan is the ancestral home of dragons. We all came from these mountains once.> "I'm ready." Guffington grins cheekily. "Always fun to explore a city you don't quite have clot in." <I do not say it lightly, Hoke, but as far as those without wings and talons go, you are much like a dragon.> "Once that is what the Dragon Knights were once." U'Daras nods. "As Vipera says, we have had difficulty in recent years it has proven difficult to draw the dragons out of the mountains. They once viewed our races as equals... they once viewed themselves and humans are equals would be a better way to put it would be that they once viewed themselves and humans as equals. The U'Kin were not viewed as anyone's equals in those days the U'Kin were not viewed as anyone's equals. But now the dragons are content to die. They believe the world has been stripped of it's beauty they believe. They think the noble races are dead or dying, and they are content to join the noble races." U'Daras shakes her head in disappointment. "Vipera is attempting to bridge the gap, but Vipera is having trouble bridging the gap." U'Daras glances past Hybros at U'Or. "Let me be the first U'Kin to welcome you home and let me be the first U'Kin to advise you to keep your head down out there." U'Or blushes deeply. The heroes, followed by their companions, step out of the yard and onto a small Dastan alley, with its signature towering buildings, patched and slapped back together over years, buckling inwards or buckling outwards. The sun beats down. U'Daras waves two soldiers in front of the entrance way. They are both regular soldiers, and humans to boot. They salute her stiffly. "No one touches that ship, understand that no one touches that ship?" "Roger that, m'am!" "Brace yourselves, heroes," says Ella with a broken smile. "It wouldn't be Dastan without political unrest, would it?" The heroes are bustled down the street, with U'Daras in the lead, but they soon come to more open streets, busier streets, and they see that they're quickly drawing eyes and soon, shouts from the citizens, many of whom stop in place upon spotting U'Daras and Ella. "More foreigners, Princess Ella? Bringing them into to advise you on how to run our land like you did with the last one? Maybe you'll end up marrying one of them as well!" The man laughs gruffly. "Dastan for the Dastanians!" "All hail the great U'Kin! Look, they walk down the streets now! And that one wears a bow tie! Out of the way, all Pongcanis! The great Empress U'Daras is coming down this street. All hail the U'Kin!" The Pongcanis spits. "Where is our representation?! Where is Tarban? Who answers for his blood?" "What happened to the Dastan of my father? Of my mother? My father served among the Dragon Knights, and now a U'Kin serves as their leader? Nay. It is a great dishonor to the Dastan people! Dastan for the Dastanians, Princess Ella! Hear your people!"
