  1. Boomingham catches the shackles and places them on his wrist, dropping his tome into his bag as he does so. "Righto, lead the way, Ogre. Just know that if we lose track of him and the elves get to gloat about capturing him before us, I will consider it your fault." He turns to Nerwen. "And we are taking him alive, right? Seeing as any clue as to what the Hel we're up against and why they want Heroica involved would be best."
  2. "Haven't the foggiest," says Boomingham as the man warps away. "But I think we're about to have an idea." "I'd say we cut him off like Skrall said. Is that an approach from all around? Smart thing to do would be to leave a guard on Karstaal as well. Seems that's his target."
  3. OoC: Just noticed I didn't gain gold from my tome. Boomingham frowns. "She is good at hiding herself, that's true. I attempted to draw her out at the Foundation Ball, but all she did was sow discord and then allow others to die in her place. I imagine we'll have to deal with her sooner rather than later." "I don't know any Thormanil," says Boomingham with a shrug. "Or at least I don't think I do... ol' noggin is a little bit leaky sometimes, when it comes to names and faces. But she's a bad lady, regardless. Bit of a manipulator, and afraid to stand herself in the way of a blade for what she's trying to do." "Didn't think we had too many long term enemies either, but between Baba and what Bastala just said about these Silent chaps, seems they were trying to draw us out as well." Boomingham glances around, focusing on the masked fellow. "That an Orc?" ( )
  4. "I'm ready to move out." He glances at Grishnod. "Might be you want to leave this building along with us. Just in case." He beams at Bastala and her aunt.
  5. Boomingham's ears prick up at the mention of Baba. "Have we had a chance to talk about that mission that you were on, Nerwen?" he asks her quietly. "If there is ever a chance to have a drink, we may use it to trade some stories about the witch. I've tried my hand at taking her down." "As you for, little lady, I think the best help you could lend us is a it of that lightning. Put your gold where your mouth is and protect the future of Baltarok. Your fellow clan leaders are still in danger, and you had a hand in attacking one of them. Why not protect the others?"
  6. Boomingham looks between the two ladies and decides he prefers the scantily clad elfish looking one as opposed to the one with fangs. "Yes, I can tell she isn't." He winks at Bastala, and shifts his weight so that he stands between the two parties as a buffer... but there are still a few jumps in logic he needs to address with the would be ruler. "Are you saying that you assisted them in their assassination attempt against Gor? You were aware they weren't impersonating your father for shits and giggles - there was another life on the line that you allowed them near. That's a bit of a gamble, little lady, even if you did have faith in the Vauno. You could have double crossed them, warned the Vauno that Gor was the target, even warned them that it was your father who was acting strangely..." "Fine then, if they won't stand for it no reason for you to still be in charge. If they'll say no, why is your vote needed?" Boomingham nods sagaciously and chuckles. "You're saying your father should have killed you when he had the chance." "You seem like you're in the right more than not, Bastala, though your head is a little screwy as far as the particulars go. Don't know how that'll make you as a clan leader. Think my fellow heroes may see it as a situation of brains over good intention, and I can't say I totally disagree with them. Gambling with a clan leaders life isn't your call to make. Gor shouldn't have been put on the line no matter what alliance you're trying to make. Not your place to play with his life. That being said, not so sure who the right ruler of a people is. Grouchy old traditionalist, or someone who listens to the people. Seems you'd be better moving forward..."
  7. Boomingham tries to wrap his head around what is happening, but has trouble. He hadn't ever realized that Orcs had just as many petty political problems as the Kingdoms he had once fought alongside. "So you're trying to get the old geezer out of the way," Boomingham says with a nod. "But that's it. Ain't got anything against Gor or what not, do you?" He turns to the former Silken Savior. "Bastala is one of your employers. And the folks who hired the Blues Brothers, those are the others?" He faces off against the two potential clan leaders. "I don't know what things were like over here before that bridge and what not, but if things are better now than then, seems that's the way things are heading. Besides, Karstaal and the others seem to know what's best. If it'd truly be you against all of them, why stop it, Grishnod? I'm all for a man who stands by his principles, but they have to be good ones, and I haven't heard diddly squat from you about why a step forward is really a step back. Sell me." "And don't think you're totally off the hook, Bastala. A coup is a coup. Surely the other clan leaders will need to hear of this." He turns to Tra-Serral. "Thought you said you dealt with things in the open here."
  8. Boomingham turns Scupperer upon the Silken Savior from the back row. "Take her alive if we can." Tra-Serral, meanwhile, hammers the remaining spirit from the back row, imbruing her attack with the power of her lent diamond.
  9. Everything in Boomingham's body tells him to keep attacking the rat bastard who wounded him, but as Nerwen goes down Boomingham reels himself in. He glances too at Tra-Serral, and feels that he should probably not embarrass himself in front of a rival. Taking his health core from the back row he calls out to the Ogre Skrall: "You calling the shots, or should I?" Tra-Serral, unconcerned with the elvish woman or the heroes in general, concentrates on attacking the Wisp from the back row.
  10. "Roger that." Leaving his shield at his side, Boomingham hefts Scupperer with both arms and slams it down on the heavily armored spirit (Eludio from the front row). Tra-Serral, meanwhile, assists with the assault on El-Alquist from the front row.
  11. "Doesn't sound that way to me. Sounds like there's a big something or other going down, most likely, if I were guessing, organized by those good paying chaps the blue chaps were talking about. Though, come to think of it, don't know why he's being taken out of the action until after things settle. That does ring a little false. Don't know if he's a pawn but I kind of doubt he's behind this, given he's up and ready to fight. Doesn't rule out whoever is up to mischief was protecting him so he could rally the troops once the more progressive leaders kick the bucket."
  12. Boomingham draws Scupperer. "We're letting the blue chaps fight Gor, don't see how this is different. But what the Hel."
  13. Boomingham shrugs as he teammates lay out their apathy to Grishnod's imprisonment. If the Orc was alive and remained alive, then there wasn't much for the team to do but let that continue.
  14. Boomingham burps loudly at the elf and her special titles and what not. As he had predicted, it was one snobby assassin (no surprise that it was an elf!) versus the eight of them.
  15. Yes! New hosts would be good, especially because I think some old hosts are pretty burned out/busy! Though quests have also gotten a tad longer - a small balance out. I think my finale quest may be on hold for a while, so I might try to host a very small quest in between then and now. But don't hold me to that. Still trying to find the time to post all the side quests from 139...
  16. Side-Quest: Secret Guts sips the wine and takes a moment to remark it's excellency, before responding to Guffington. "It can't be helped, but you'll be in good hands." The Marauder is quiet for a moment. "Time sensitive, huh. Are you... planning on coming back home? I hear Etheria is a beautiful place..." Miirym & Vipera "Vipera...am I really so young? He speaks as if I am a helpless babe, simply because I have not yet manifested my powers...but I am a Dragon. We break from the shell scaled and clawed, toughened for the trials of a harsh world...are we not? I am a fighter, I have the strength to stand by his side. I am named 'Guardian' in our tongue, why will he not let me be that for him? Why must he always be the one defending me?" Miirym seems genuinely upset by Arthur's underestimation of the near-youngling. Torc & Vipera
  17. "Yeah but what he thinks he can do may be a little less than what he can actually do."
  18. Yeah, for sake of ease way back on Quest 19 I decided dragons have their own language but can speak with their minds in whatever language they so choose. People have honored it mostly, though it's varied largely! In 105 there was a special dragon who could verbally speak "common" or whatever we choose to call it. So there aren't any hard and fast rules, just if you want to follow what came before.
  19. "Well, little lady," says Boomingham as he chugs a mead and winks at Tra-Serral. "Looks like it's time to show us if your weapons have as much bite as your tongue. I'm ready whenever you are, Nerwen." Boomingham glances at the Vauno and his party mates, glad for each of their company in the upcoming brawl. "Can't imagine this little assassin won't be a little more than outnumbered, though."
  20. Two quests are dealing with the fall out of the Posco debacle concurrently.
  21. I have nothing but compliments for Torc, actually (and yes, I will get around to posting those side-quests!). If I were trying to imagine something that were born to Hoke and raised by him, I can't possibly see it going a different path than being silent and stoic. Hoke's strength has always been more of the silent stubborn type, and if Torc were taking a cue from him, she'd also be silent - even more silent, I'd argue, because I think she's more inherently powerful and therefore needs to say less. I don't know quite as much about Arx and Thormy, as I've never hosted them.
  22. Boomingham leans finds a chair to lean back in. "Okay, so you're mister nice chappo now. You know that we aren't going to just let you kill Gor - you have a job, we have a job, and since you seem to know Skrall here you know we don't welch. So what's your proposal as to how we proceed?"
  23. That's why I specified the difference between different QMs visions! I could just go with what I think of when Zoot comes up, but that's not as interesting as honoring the story that Purpearl set up for Bobby. My Zoot would never take servants or be involved all the way on that side of the globe, so it's more what Purpearl's vision was. I'm just having trouble deciding how he feels about it because it was (in that quest) a very lenient servitude. Nothing was ever asked of him. He was just branded and then Zoot walked away. It'd be like if some random person came up to me and asked me to be his servant and I said "yes, fine" and then he bounced and never contacted me again. Confused, I guess? That'd be a funny way to play it, but certainly not new for Bobby. But maybe that is actually the best way to go about it.
  24. I've been having trouble returning to Bobby, for a few reasons. Two of them are "meta" (I don't want to steal quests from new players with only one character, and I also want to make sure I have the time for my commitment to 150) but I'm also sort of stuck as to what to do with him now that he's a "servant of Zoot". Purpearl never really indicated what that meant/what the consequences were other than an appearance change, and I believe her Zoot is a little different than my Zoot. What are people's thoughts?
  25. "Have to say I'm with Skrall on this one. Not sure what exactly your game is - it ain't likely we're going to be outpaying you, and you've already gotten yourself captured, so... you're being mighty open, is what I'm saying, for someone with no way to move forward." Boomingham chews on the inside of his cheek. "Shame that the blind priest keeled over. Could have used him for information on Grishnod. Can't say I pity him though, protecting his life instead of the rest of Baltarok. No honor there." "Anyway, Alzar, if we're being all free lipped, how about you let us know where the Hel you stashed Grishnod. Then maybe we can let you off with a warning." Boomingham turns to Tra-Serral. "Should we be moving Gor into some sort of protected location? Any reason why anyone would try to off him?"
