"Well, first thing first, I'm telling him to not stab me ever again. He didn't know that someone as weak as him couldn't kill me. Angels like me can die, by the way. It just takes more than fat old kings to do us in." Boomingham rolls his eyes. "I've also told him he needs to be more selective with the company he keeps. Witches, woman with bastard children, Ogres, all sorts of godless fools." "And yet you like Nyx," Boomingham says. "She wished for my return. She knew you needed my guidance." "I don't think it was as holy as that. I just think she wanted to see me bothered. It's working, by the way." "He's also taken up a false God. Defender of the weak. HA! They're weak because they are unholy. The weak are weak as punishment, you don't defend them." "Look, I'm sure Hoke agrees with me here. The strong defend the weak so they can also grow strong. It makes the strong stronger as well, because than we've got more strong people to compete with. It's logic. Besides, everyone deserves a chance. You never know what they'll accomplish. Doesn't Ennoc want to see what mortals are really capable of? That's the whole point of our existence. To see what we're capable of. And providing people with the stepping stone they need is something I view as a duty. Isn't that right, Hoke?" Two pairs of eyes rest on the poor knight.

Boomingham walks over to the quest board and tacks up a sign.

Boomingham sits down at the table. He glances over at Skrall, Hoke and Atramor, still in conversation. War buddies. He would return to them soon enough. "Ellaria, did I ever tell you about the time I had a son? And a wife and a family? I went to war to protect them from the Orcs invading the land. You folks seem to have forgotten the war... but I can tell you, it was bad. People were dying everywhere. Families were dying everywhere. I needed to protect mine." He sighs. "Anyway, some young chap froze me in time when I tried to track him down for deserting. Not an important story, I have no doubt you've heard it time and again. Point is, when I got out, I looked up my family. My wife married again and forgot about me. My son got killed in a fight when he was still young. My kingdom fell into ruin, my people were gone. No one knows why." Boomingham spits. "I don't know why I'm telling you this. It isn't very inspiration. But listen. When it comes down to it, your son is out there. And you've got the ability to find him. Someone took him. You go take him back. The mistake that I made when I was trying to protect my family is that I wanted to do it for me. I wanted to have the glory of protecting my family. That was wrong. I should have wanted to protect them because I loved them, not because I loved the idea that they'd admire me. You're doing that, Ellaria. I know you'd give your life for your son, and you'd be okay with him not knowing your name. We're all different sorts of people..." Boomingham exhales. The chair creaks dangerously under him. "When you get a lead, come find me. You can't find your son on your own. I will help you. I will die for him." Boomingham coughs a few times. "Ah, well, that's all I got for you, dear. Probably boring as all Hel. Cheer up, and I'll see you around. And remember you've got friends." Boomingham rises and waddles off. A voice whines in his ear. "Her child is being punished for being impure. He is a bastard. Commit to a better cause, Lawrence." "Screw off, Barty. I have committed to a better cause. The cause of Lawrence Boomingham, King of the Dead lands. My new God believes in everyone getting what they deserve, and so do I. Ellaria deserves her child, and she deserves my help. You can come along for the ride, or not." There is a burst of light. Barty floats in front of Boomingham. "I'm back to stay. I'll see how you do, Lawrence." Boomingham shrugs. "I liked it better when I thought you were dead." Barty zips around.

"The Captain Patricia seemed to be an alright lady. Its the others I didn't trust. She seems to be the head of a den of thieves. Its hard when you've got subordinates who aren't worth a damn and are looking to stab your goal in the back... though I suppose that it is a leader's duty to whip them into shape." Boomingham whacks Atramor on the back. "I've had my fair share of unruly subordinates."
-
Boomingham nods at Skrall civilly enough. "I've put Servus in a inn. I don't know what to do with him. And I barely got to ask after Pseudo at all. Wonder how the guards got us. Probably the Town Guard Infiltrators. They did us very few favors."
-
Boomingham pockets the Monocle. "I've got to track down Ellaria and steal my scroll back from her," he says to himself. "How goes it, chappo? Haven't seen you around as of late. Have you been on your own travelings? See any sights worth sharing?"

Well, as I've said, Ella is the ONLY major living NPC from any Wren quest who will not actively be in the final one... because seriously, who would send her towards Wren after you guys saved her. There's no reason for her to be there. BUT, I can tell you with certainty she WILL reappear in at least one other quest hosted by me, and that Dastan is slated to come back at some point in the future, and the QM has graciously allowed for at least the idea of all my Dastan NPCs making a reappearance if the heroes track them down. AND I have a little something planned for you and her if you end up coming on the final Wren Quest.

Tarn is a very popular hero in the love scape. How are Jess and Haldor, by the way? Still together... but haven't seen each other for a very long time? Right? I think they're our only two active heroes together. Thothwick being the only other hero in a relationship. As for Boomingham... who knows. He's much older than most other heroes, and he did have a wife already who hurt him pretty badly. Nyx indicated sort of feelings towards him for a while at the beginning of 40, but Pandora has been sort of MIA here, and Nyx and XX are the couple I'm hoping for. Boomingham views Nyx as a daughter much more than anything else, but I was still excited to see where that dynamic went. Cronk actually said in Quest 7 that he was a Frog for a short while. Though I don't know if he and Poletad really ever interacted much. Poletad is friends with Tarn, Nyx, and Skrall more than anyone.

Endless smoke bombs? I feel like it's going to be really hard for them to not retreat every time that a battle gets even a little challenging. They retreat, patch up wounds, and try again. They could take the battle round by round if they wanted. But we have yet to see it in action, so what do I know. On a side note, don't know why I wrote "closer to the quest". I meant "closer to using the class". I would not be opposed to Tarn and Ella either. We'd just need to get them together a few more times. My NPCs don't fall for people easily. Flirt a little, certainly, end up with... less often. I wonder if anyone will ever marry Poletad.

Boomingham slinks into the hall. Sevrus is no where to be seen... having been dropped off at an inn Boomingham occasionally stays at. "No quests. Humph." Boomingham makes his way to a table to sits down heavily on a chair. He coughs. The sea winds seem to have given him a cold. He wraps his cloak around him. No one in the hall are his friends. "Where have they all gone," he wonders allowed. "Nyx has yet to return... Mr. Marvelo is long gone." He glances over at Thothwick, whom he met once, Hoke, asleep at the fire, another acquaintance with only a short conversation under their belt. Benji, the quiet Ranger that he got his Frozen Sabre with is off asleep in another corner. The witch reminds him of Nur... friendly, perhaps, but hard to read. He glances over at the bar orc... another person he has friction with, and raises a finger indicating he wants a drink. -------- Another guardsman sneaks into the hall and hangs yet another wanted poster before making his way out. Zee, Queen of the Undead, Court of Demons

I was actually reading over them the other day. Retreat can absolutely not be a thing. It would make balancing battles so hard.... but I was going to wait until we were closer to the quest to put that in. Dude, life happens. Thank you for being honest about it and letting us go. Strivvi has shown a lot to Boomingham, and I'll certainly be there when we return!

Just skimming Quest 42... how is the Merman sealed or weakened? Its noted he's immune to negative effects.

Heroica RPG - Quest #40: The Strivvian Job

"There's a place in Eubric where you can live off the streets and still be a free man. I shall take you there when we're done." Boomingham produces the key and unlocks Servus. -

Boomingham shrugs. "Well, looks like it was lucky for you, because now you're mine." Boomingham lowers his voice. "Listen here, Severus. I want to keep an eye on those two ladies there. See them?" Boomingham indicates Nyx and Ellaira. "While you're under my service, you protect them. If they're alright by the time we leave Strivvi... you're free. I'd advise you return with us to Eubric, it's bound to treat you nicer than this city has, but my deal stands either way. They're okay, you get your freedom." Boomingham kept leading the party towards the crates. -

Trouble in the Streets of Gotham: Day 1

I'm tired of all this villainy going unchecked! I'm clearly the man for the job. Did you hear about the time that I beat all those villains? Haha, that was a good time. Remember, the dolphins need water too, so stop using those water-fountains so often! Humans are using up the water supplies. That's why there's so much oil in the ocean, the levels of water have gone down, so it's more noticeable. What is everyone else talking about? -
Obelix, gotta commend you for your dedication to the game already. It's looking like we'll be having another awesome player. Can't wait to see what Thalion has for us. He seems likable, and already has some nice dynamics with the other characters.

Heroica RPG - Quest #40: The Strivvian Job
Zepher replied to Scubacarrot's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Stop with that master junk," Boomingham barks. "Tell me your name. Mine's Blackhood, as you heard." "What was that lead? Crates from Eubric. Very well, let's head off to that." Boomingham turns to his slave again. "Tell me about how you can into the business. What made you knock off your last owner? I'd probably have done it too, can't blame you, but what was the straw that broke the camel's back?" -

Boomingham hands over the gold, and takes the papers and key. He leads the man down to his party. "Got a name?" he inquires. He turns to his party. "We're off. There's nothing for us to see here. Blackhawk told me there weren't any Watch Men here, and I can't think of a reason for him to lie. It's not like the whole city is conspiring to keep them from us. I say we head out to the place on the map that's marked. We'll keep this fellow in tow until we know more about him." -
They're just cool figures that I made and want to show off. They'll never ever be referenced again. No, they are indeed NPCs for my quest. They, and the Town Watch hanging them, are the only New NPC appearing who haven't already been in a quest, so to save time once the quest starts, I'm letting people know a bit about them before the quest begins. I'm also trying to throw those stuck in the Hall who want to role-play a bone - it would give folks something to talk about, if they wanted! And certainly once Quest 44ers and Wren Questers are in the Hall, they'd react.

"I'll take the clothes and cloak as well. I've got a friend who will give me the money." Boomingham glances over at the paperwork. "The name is Blackhood, I'm a sell-sword from the High Kingdoms." Boomingham scratches his nose. "I was hired by the Eubric Town Watch when I was returning a bounty I hunted to the city. They are looking for their guards. Have you heard anything about them, chappo? Would be worth your while to tell me, we've been outfitted with enough money to buy them back no matter what befell them... and I certainly don't care what their current condition is." -

Ha! This shall be an easy problem for me to solve! Me! Richard! Has everyone heard about the time that I saved a child from a car and ALSO told him to stop drinking pop to save his teeth! Hey! Everyone, stop drinking pop to save your teeth! And also, save the economy. For God's sake, people, doesn't anyone else care anymore?! -
My quest leaves December 21 no matter who is signed on. I have to, because I need to get to a certain point in my quest before I leave for college. A choice in an early battle will affect a later battle, so I need to have that choice done so I can take the pictures that reflect that... aka, certain NPCs may be dead... so I can't have them in later pictures if they're dead.

No, seriously, wasn't blaming you! I've had similar things happen, and you didn't do anything wrong (who can predict computer issues? No one). I'm just getting antsy with Nyx, Skrall and Atramor gone. I want them.
