  1. Three fresh heroes, right off the presses, wander through the streets of Eubric trying to find their way to the docks. The city is a sprawling mess, and often times they end up in a back alley with no way out and have to retrace their steps. Their attempts to ask for directions go a little awry as well. "Just head to the water, you can't miss it!" "Diz is ridic-u-lous. You muzt know where it iz. 'Oo does not know where de docks are?" "What, ya not going to buy anything?!" "Oh, I wish I'd be invited to go places sometimes. Tell them Ratabor says hi... not that they know me. Oh, I wish I was invited places." Following a meandering trail they do eventually end up at the bay, and make their way along the wharfs until they see a small dingy at the edge of a run-down dock. The man on the boat is singing loudly, and on dock next to him stands a sailor and the U'Kin from the hall. The heroes approach. They are: Karl (surname unknown) (Bionicle_fanatic) 18 year old male human Rogue Level 1 Power Bonus: 0 Health: 7 Gold: 10 Equipment: Shuriken (WP:3) Inventory: Potion, Venom, Bedroll Boris Bruhalv (Waterbrick Down) 38 year old male vampire Cleric Level 1 Power Bonus: 0 Health: 9/9 Ether: 5/5 Gold: 10 Equipment: Simple Mace (WP: 3, mace) Inventory: Potion, Remedy Keliim the cruel (Mencot) Age 35, male human Barbarian Level 1 Power: 1 Health: 8/8 Gold: 10 Equipment: Rusty one handed battleaxe (WP: 3) Inventory: Potion, Mead "If all the bullocks, be forgot, and marry many wives, if all the banquets be you got, then that's the time to dine." "My good friend, I am not entirely sure that you have the words correct!" "Bull." The man in the dingy spits into the ocean. The heroes, lingering back a little ways, notice the stench of booze and the slurring of words. Apparently all three of these fellows had just come from the bars. "Are you certain you'll be make it home, Lane, you're certain?" "Course I will!" Lane holds up the frying pan he has in hand. "Got my paddle, got my presents and rations-" he jerks his thumb, indicating a chest in the back. "And got a companion too. Damn rascal will keep me safe." Lane leans in close to the others in an attempt to whisper, but he fails. "Don't tell no one, but I think this dog is magic. Did I tell you how I found him? A bunch a' frogs came up to my front door and left him there. Weird stuff, out there." Lane looks down at the water. "Hel, I think the tide is going out. This is how I get home every year boys. The rides more pleasant than the visit, I'll tell you that. 'Sides, look like your heroes are here." He points to the heroes, and raises his voice. "Don't sink any good for nothing ships this time, you bastards!" And with that he dips the frying pan into the ocean and begins to paddle away. "Ah, hello heroes, my name is U'Ordiussum and hello to you her-" "You can call him U'Or. Much easier." The other man offers his hand. "My name is Captain Elba. Sorry for having you meet us here. We were just seeing off our friend, Captain Lane. I was a Bonaparte once. And when you're on the sea..." Elba's eyes mist over a little: "Friendship runs deep. It has to. I love working for Guffington, but... well, U'Or and Daneeka are wonderful friends, but they aren't really the sea-faring type." "I get queasy on the sea I get queasy." "So, first things are first. Before we head out, I'd like to know who I'm adventuring around with today. What are your names, boys?" OoC: Mencot, if you could post a smaller icon (we usually go with 100x100) that'd be great. Fantatic, I see you have 10 gold and a bedroll. Not sure how that's possible, as I believe you'd have to buy a bedroll, but perhaps someone gifted it to you?
  2. Oh, and folks, my normal shameful cry: for whatever reason I just can't make banners very well, so if anyone is feeling like making a banner for this quest, shoot me a PM!
  3. Boomingham's eyes narrow as Erdy is soul-sucked. He widens his feet. "Are you trying to hasten your demise? We are a unit. We will fight until the last, Regret." Barty swoops in and heals Boomingham. OoC: Did I get my gold from the last battle? Did we get the Regret's drops? I don't know if we have time to divide Erdy's stuff if we didn't have time for the Regret's stuff...
  4. Mencot, post those stats quick so I don't have to bump you from the quest. Looking forward to hosting level 1s. I think over 80 quests have passed since I had the chance, and I know they're less of a headache than the friggin' level 30s.
  5. A panicked looking U'Kin steps into the Hall and rushes over to the quest board. He begins to circle names... until he sees the list for the Fields of Glory. "Oh dear oh my some of the heroes I was about to pick have gone to the fields some of the heroes I was going to pick went to," he mutters, and then he crosses out some of the circled names and circles some different ones. Chosen Heroes for Quest #123 Boris, Level 1 Cleric Keliim, Level 1 Barbarian Karl, Level 1 Rouge *Party Leader* OoC: The quest will launch later today.
  6. Bobby plays his Electriphant, and then his Wishing Starfish. D'oh, sorry guys, thought we had finished this match for some reason.
  7. I wouldn't say no to that satchel - though we should probably wait to see what Sandy says. Like everyone else said, it's sad to see you go, but at least you brought an end to your character. I like it when a hero gets killed once in a blue moon.
  8. "Oh grand, the ghosts are back. I'm sure you'll tell us some cheery story about how he's impossible to kill and then we'll go ahead and kill him anyway. If you want to help, ghosts, prepare yourselves to fight." Boomingham squares off. "Well, chappo, are we going to talk all day or get down to the point?"
  9. Yes!  Super excited to see what goes down. I'm hoping to continue my characters and hopefully finish up my quests... but I keep adding on new ones before my finale, so maybe we'll never get there. Right now I've got four quests left including the finale, and I think at least three of them will be hitting the forums this year - one within a day or two, hopefully. As for the Fields of Glory for new players - just a suggestion (and I'll admit, the fields don't appeal to me personally): go on a quest-quest first. Dipping your toes in the world of Heroica, even just a little, is a good thing to do if you plan on playing this game!
  10. Oh god. Am I missing something? I really hope that Endgame posts in his next post something along the lines of "End of Part One of Seven". That would be a twist.
  11. "Hopefully." Boomingham looks at Barty, who screws up his eyes, trying to find the soulless souls.
  12. Lots of new heroes. Maybe I'll have to throw together a quest.
  13. "He's right, you fool. You are the person who got us into this mess!" The angel zips around Erdy's head wildly. "Stupid. Stupid. Foolish. Unnatural." "He's right. This ain't the time to go numb. You screwed up, but as long as the Regret is still here we have time to fix it."
  14. Boomingham draws Scupperer as his teeth chatter. "He'll come for us, right? So we kill him then. It doesn't matter how powerful his big bad fire made him. He has to die, so he will." "You must destroy him. He has is no goodness left." "That's what I just said, Barty." "I know. But sometimes you befriend those who are... less than desirable, and I know you've taught me a thing or two about dragging those who have fallen out of the light back into it, but his light is all gone." Boomingham rolls his eyes. "Glad I have your blessing." Boomingham drinks a mead, a nostrum, and a smelling salts.
  15. If someone picks up two hollow boomerangs for Bobby he'd pay good money for it.
  16. Yeah thank you for the infoboxes, they're super useful and really are things I could not have put together myself!
  17. "Pleasure to meet you, my dude." Bobby plays his Siren (Flying 5), and then his Dune Ghoul (Rock 3).
  18. Yeah, I know it's not something that everyone's into (obviously we all play the game differently) but I think the stories of the PCs and their transformation due to each other and quests is the real engaging story in Heroica, so I really like cataloging it in a way that it's easy to catch up on. I also do really love re-reading quests, especially since right now I'm trying to figure out where to go with Boomers and more specifically Barty. I'm glad I inspired you to update Hybros' page - he also happens to be a character I follow rather closely. Yeah, I also go by Hybros' system. I usually have Boomingham hang out for "a few weeks" around town after quests, going bar hopping, but only let him do that a day or so real time. That is usually how I fix up the time deal. EDIT: Sandy, I didn't realize (or forgot more likely) that Jun swore to never touch his swords again after 75. Very cool. Thought it was weird that he didn't fight in 119 but it makes sense now. Also, working on the wiki entry for 19 and found this introduction: Lots of stuff set up in there that I don't think I even knew I'd be building on. Phil going home to Dastan - which I didn't know existed quite yet. Felton and Hans conveniently waking up near each other (because of what Felton was). "Hired someone in Eubric" aka Johnny Everyman, a good many quests before he was actually introduced.
  19. "Yo dude, those are some damn fine cards you got going for you! No way I'm winning, but I can still play a game my dude, don't worry!" Bobby plays his Tweetybird, and then offers his hand. "Yo dog, I'm Bobby by the way, who are you?"
  20. Boomingham stands aside, his face drawn sternly as the tree fires.
  21. Boo. CMP, give me an hour or two to try to throw together a hand that stands a chance at surviving. (Sorry, the boo was not towards the game, it's to that silly rule about kids).
  22. If no one has ever re-read early Heroica, it really is a treat. I'm going through some of the earlier quests to complete Boomingham's bio for the wiki (more for my benefit than anyone else's) and stumbled upon a wonderful tid-bit from Quest #8 in which the Ji Pei are described as "Eastern Raiders" by Cathargo, only to be changed to another totally unrelated faction about three fourths into the quests running time, clearly by Sandy's request because that is not at all what the Ji Pei are. It's hilarious because we didn't know what that house was back then, and also a real testament to the lore we've created in the intermittent time-span - no one would mistake the Ji Pei for raiders at this point.
  23. Boomingham drags his gaze over his other quest mates until finally they rest on Em. "Em?"
  24. I just read about Wolf Among Us today, heard it was good! I'd also advise looking into the Banner Saga if anyone likes a good quick game. Great art too, in my opinion.
  25. This time the blast seems to knock the wind out of Boomingham, who starts to huff and puff a little. He inhales deeply to regain his focus. "What's your suggestion then, my little friend?" he asks Punii, trying hard to keep an edge out of his voice. "The Regret is a monster we just vanquished," Boomingham tells the wounded Progg. "You don't need to concern yourself with him."
