Well behind the times, but I'm finally getting a breather and am using today to throw myself back into Heroica with even more vigor! #111: Awesome quest, Khrone. Loved seeing the more rural Dastan, and I think you did the country proud. The heroes of heroica do spend an undue amount of time with royalty (especially in Dastan) and that's not a great comprehensive look at a culture. I also love the Paladin Order (I have a special place in my heart for them). I think you did an absolutely superb job of transplanting a Paladin into Dastan and allowing the new environment to highlight the Paladins, and likewise allowing the environment to highlight the Paladin. I also have to agree with WBD - your character felt very "middle path". I think it is easy to make the NPCs rather one dimensional sometimes, and it's something I'm striving against but something you flawlessly succeeded at. They felt flawed and inconsistent, but in the way that normal characters are, not as if there were something off with them. There were some things they were certain of and would not budge in, and some things they were less sure of, which I think creates a powerful character. The sets were also superb and added even more depth to Dastan. So, really, congrats - you expanded two of my favorite parts of the game, and I was impressed with both! #116: I think I may not be alone is saying that WBD are some of my favorite quests to read... perhaps my favorite. Your sets are always beautiful, the stories are organic, you show us the working class in much the same way that Khrone did. Your praise for his NPCs can easily be said about your's too - they feel organic and their relationship with the PCs evolve naturally. Your quests evolve extremely naturally too - not something I personally have chosen to emulate in my quests for a number of reasons (some of which are constraints being away from my bricks) but absolutely something that I respect and more importantly something that you've perfected, in my personal opinion. I love love that you choose to focus on character like Ecrub and the Blood Paws and... the other gang who's name I can't recall right now. But it adds a fantastic depth to Eubric. Sandy has her hands full with the Seven Houses, and has made enormous strides in including the other player's story lines, so now it's up to us to keep feeding in extra stuff to build Eubric so Sandy can keep the Free City evolving. The ending twist was not "shocking" but still surprising and more importantly impactful - Kurt Vonnegut would approve. The party was fantastic. I have long championed all three characters as complex characters, but still down to earth. I think they played off each other so incredibly well. Althior is AWESOME. I think his death has been handled beautifully since he was brought back from it - he's amoral, but not. He's uncaring, but not. It never feels contradictory, just complex. I love that he was a comic relief character before too, because it still sort of hangs around him even though he's come so far from there. Juxtaposing who he was with who he is now is a strong choice and highlights his new moral system beautifully. The fall out from 100 has been artfully handled too. Benji's amoral attitude is beautiful too. I love that nothing is really tying him to the Wolfgang anymore, but that he still stands up for them. I think it's a mix of his hot-headedness (he wants to rebel and be right) and also a hint of social liberty... but not too much. I like that you've taken his attraction to Violetta and allowed other character traits to carry what could have ended there. It feels like it flowed in a way that was totally organic, even though the rationale for his alliance has radically changed. It simply traced through his character. Hoke is steadfast, head strong, loyal, powerful, certain. He is a simple character, but not in a way that he's ill-defined. He's predictable, but in the way that a working man is predictable. I really can't praise him enough. I have liked him since 19, and will forever champion him as a "everyman" of Heroica who is so much more. I think a lot of people view simple as "not developed yet" (sometimes even as "stupid" in real life) but I think both in RP and in real life it is often more of a choice, and a powerful one made by a steadfast and spiritually sound person. Hoke is one of my favorite heroes, and I will continue love reading him, hosting him, or playing alongside him.

With a shrug, Boomingham responds to the tree: "I don't mean good or bad by healing this Progg. I have been to the past twice now. If this is the third, this Progg will not die. I long clung to the idea that perhaps I'd be able to alter what has happened, but I know by now it is foolish. This Progg will live to be The Regret." Boomingham looks at the Progg. "But for the time being, he is but a slave who fought back against what he thought was unjust. The Regret will shatter who he is now regardless, but his last moments may be either painful, or not. I already assisted The Regret in having an unpleasant end, such as he deserved. Perhaps I can assist this chap with a pleasant end, something he deserves as well." Boomingham redoubles his efforts to heal the Progg, or at least ease his pain, regardless of the cost of ether.
-
"No." Boomingham expands any and all his ether to heal the Progg. "What you've done, you've done. Your punishment will come when it comes."
-
Boomingham crouches near the Progg. "What have you done wrong?"
-
"Well damn." Boomingham licks his lips as Barty bursts into existence. "What's the call, little guy? Past? Present?" "It doesn't matter. He dies." "Wel that part I ain't so sure about." With a glance towards Em, Boomingham licks his lips again. "We've got a leader who gets to weigh in. And I'm not sure where my vote goes myself." He looks towards the poor Progg. "Though we ain't got much time either way." "You will never learn, will you, Lawrence. Never."

Bobby plays his Wishing Starfish to finish up the game. He offers his hand to his opponent. "Yo man, that was a close game. You can keep that bite of your bum, I had a blast!" OoC: Phew. That could have gone differently if you'd played those cards in the reverse order. You had me worried! Good game, Sandy. -

"Yo man, this is a tight game so far." Bobby plays his Electriphant, and then his Craven. -
"Who are we missing?" asks Boomingham, glancing around. "The Stealer, Johon? Alice." A deep exhale. He slips his swords back into their scabbards. "And who is this chappo?" After a few wobbly steps forward, Boomingham squints. "Don't look like you're doing too well, chappo. I'm Lord Lawrence T. Boomingham, a True Hero, slayer of the Bluehood and Poisoner and Regret. Who are you?"

"Hahaha, alright my dude, sounds like a deal!" Bobby pretends to try to peck at his opponents deck, but then dismisses that idea with a few curt flicks of the wrist. "I'm playing, I'm playing, I'm no cheater, don't worry. That's a dope card, though." Bobby plays his Tygurah, and then his Tweetybird. -
That's why you don't invite Boomingham to your Citadel, Mr. Regret. I think he'll probably have a new title to add to his list when he's done.

I'll get on wiki duty asap! I think my life will be too busy to host quests over the next few months, so I plan to supplement that time with some wiki work... though I may have to wait for the holidays to wind down first. Thanks for including them, Sandy!

Happy Holidays to all who celebrate, and happy days off from work to all who don't! I will be a little busy in the next three or four days, but will try my best to check in.

You guys are lucky Boomingham wasn't brought along, I don't think he'd be able to abandon any single one of these people.
-
"I think our team is not quite as hate filled as you think, chappo. I get along famously with Em and Punii and that tree over there, and the robot and I will have a normal conversation one day I'm sure." Boomingham grins at the automaton. "So, what's the call, Em? Keep up the attack? You know, boy-o, that's what I like about you so much. You're a straight shooter. 'Cept of course that one time when you helped the Stealer survive. But ah well." Boomingham shrugs and attacks the Tail with his Frozen Saber from the back row.

Heroica RPG - Decamon Tournament: Vermilion Cup

OoC: Sorry Flare, been a little busy, but just PM'd in my hand! "Yo, Benji, my man! Dope thart I get to play you here and talk to you somewhere else. Pretty wonky, am I right or what? Ha ha. Yo, you ready to get wild and weird? I'm just warning, yo, I ain't playing. This is gonna be a for real for real math, aight?" Bobby plays his Creeping Hand! -
Boomingham shrugs. "Maybe I've committed a few sins. No genocides, though. And we continue to walk this earth to put down oogly booglies like you. There's a god by the name of pseudos who has this little idea that we strong should protect the weak. So, you know, not murder them. Course, when the weak, like you for example, end up trying to murder the strong... well, what are they supposed to do?" Boomingham drags his finger across his neck, closes his eyes, and sticks out his tongue.
-
"Yo man, I dunno. I mean, you're a beast on the battlefield, pun intended ya know? But if it ain't making you happy, then what's the point, right? You do you, man. I'll support ya in whatever."
-
"Well, chappo, I've got to be honest with you and say I think you might be the one with a lack of comprehension."
-
Boomingham responds to the Regret. "I think gloating to the things you view as ants is a little pathetic. I think this whole thing is honestly a whole lot of pathetic. I usually like to let people know why they deserve to be put down at my hands, but you are a unique chap in that I don't think you've even earned that."
-
I don't doubt that they may stop by again once in a blue moon. But if not, so be it! Their heroes will remain an important part of the Hall's history.
-
"She's not dead yet, Stealer. And I like the idea of cutting off his tail." His eyes stay locked on the Regret. "For all the looking down you do to us humans you sure seem bent on crushing us. It'd be like if I taunted ants before stepping on them, and then went and told everyone I knew that I'd accomplished it."
-
Boomingham winks at his foe.
