  1. Day Six is now up. I want to thank Gregorovich and smittyfan for playing! I hope you both now have a grasp of how a Mafia game is played. Despite the rough start, especially in Gregorovich's case, I think you've learned your lesson, so you both have passed the Mafia School. As for the remaining seven of you, the lecture still continues.
  2. By the sixth day since the nightmare on Isla Paradisa began, the whole island was in shambles. The entire staff of the holiday resort was dead, save for the owner Mr. Crusoe who was hanging in between sanity and madness. Mr. Crusoe was dismayed about the state of the place. Paradisa Holiday Romance Resort was not only his refuge, but his home and a dream that he had dedicated a decade to keep. The remaining guests did not give a damn about the place, all they did was cower in fear and whine about the lack of food and service. Mr. Crusoe wondered how they had managed to survive six days without starving themselves to death. A quick glance through the crowd revealed that there was only seven of them left, whereas there had been eight when they had went to bed last night. Where was the nerdy Siegmund Freiburg? Assuming the worst, Mr. Crusoe quickly made his way to the German fellow's bungalow. There was no sight of the man inside the cabin, although Mr. Crusoe scoffed at the huge pink teddybear lying on the bed. He finally found Siegmund behind the bungalow, half eaten by the giant ants that lived on the island. Yet another life claimed by the Mafia. But what was he compared to the sweet Sunday, Mr. Crusoe thought. He did not like the monster he had become, but it was inevitable if he wanted to get revenge for Sunday. Soon the other guests found their way to Siegmund's bungalow. Mr. Crusoe had nothing else to say but remind them that the killers were still hiding among them, and that there was no escape from the island until they had been found. ~*~*~*~*~*~ The Rules: 1. There are 7 players left in the game, so it takes 4 votes to convict someone.
  3. Day Six will be up tomorrow. Sorry you have to wait for it, but I've just had such a busy day that I need to rest. If only I could host Mafia games and build with LEGO all day, but unfortunately there are other things in life...
  4. The conclusion to Day Five is finally up! Enjoy (even if it is a bit on the short side...).
  5. Vote Tally: Geert Rotterdam/Gregorovich: 7 (Capt. Redblade, Cutlass Iz, KielDaMan, smittyfan, Brickdoctor, Baylego, KartoffelViking) Day Five ends with the conviction of Geert Rotterdam/Gregorovich. As the angry mob surrounded Geert, the personal instructor wished he had never left the safety of the Netherlands. Getting involved with this Mafia business was just too much for him to handle. But he was tough. Even when Mr. Crusoe tied him up into the chair that had caused the death of almost all of his co-workers, Geert did not flinch. That was until Mr. Crusoe whipped up a long, soft feather. The musclebound coach had but one weakness: he was extremely ticklish. So the following night echoed with his laughter and cries. ~*~*~*~*~*~ Please send in your night actions as soon as possible.
  6. Vote Tally: Vanya Livny/Baylego: 1 (KartoffelViking) You have less than 24 hours to vote.
  7. PLEASE STOP PLAYING THE GAME IN THIS TOPIC! Do not talk about your opinions about the votings, the roles, the killings, what was done right and what was done wrong, or anything like that. All that talk should be posted into the Day-topic, not here. Thank you!
  8. I'm a little pressed for time, so I did not add any flavor text to start this day's voting, but hopefully you'll forgive me. Anyway, it's time to vote again! Choose wisely...
  9. Voting is now open (a little early, I know), and will last a maximum of 48 hours. It takes 5 votes to reach a conviction.
  10. Yup, that's real water. I use some Photoshop effects in the pics, but nothing beats the real stuff. Yes, now that you've graduated you can sign into the more advanced Mafia games. As for the future of Mafia School, it's still uncertain like we've discussed on this topic before. It all depends on if this game proves to be worthwhile or not. If they do continue, I won't (necessarily) be hosting them, and in any case you cannot join them anymore since they are meant for beginners. Hope this answers your questions!
  11. Day Five is up! I'd like to thank Euvor, Dan the Brickman and CommanderFox for playing! Unfortunately Euvor stopped participating in this game days ago without notice, and has not replied to my PM about the matter, so I'm forced not to give him a pass from this game. However, Dan the Brickman and CommanderFox, you both played an excellent game, so you have both passed Mafia School. Congratulations, and here's hoping I get to play with you both in the future!
  12. The Paradisa Holiday Romance Resort was in disrepair after all of it's maintenance staff were dead. Litter and dead leaves filled the pavement, weeds grew everywhere and a body floated in the pool. The others found the bloated corpse of Cruz Fortaleza in the morning as they gathered at the Magnolia Lodge to hear the result of Mr. Crusoe's nightly interrogation. The Brazilian tourist's camera was lying broken at the edge of the pool, which sprung theories of Cruz being some sort of investigator that had been caught by the Mafia. Whatever the truth of it was, it was evident he had been an innocent member of the Town. Soon Mr. Crusoe stepped out of the lodge carrying the head of Danielle Barrie, who had been convicted the previous evening. She, too, had been a Mafia goon, and would get the "honor" of having her head put on a pole next to the heads of her friends Dreo and Erin. Mr. Crusoe fished out Cruz from the pool. He said that even though they already had caught three Mafia goons, the Brazilian's body proved that this nightmare wasn't over yet. There was still at least one scumbag hiding among them, and Mr. Crusoe would not give up the hunt until he was certain there was none left. So began another day of pointing fingers and placing blames. The residents of Isla Paradisa had made two correct selections in a row, so would their luck hold a third time? Mr. Crusoe would return at noon to find out. ~*~*~*~*~*~ The Rules: 1. Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned with either the Town or the Mafia. 13. Results of the night actions have been sent, and Day Five will begin shortly.
  14. That is correct. I built several MOCs in advance as backdrops to this game. That's not true. I just go with the spur of the moment for the death scenes. I try to think of what is a suitable way for each character to go, though. But yeah, time-consuming is the best word to describe hosting one of these games, although it's great fun too.
  15. Thanks for the pics of the finished products! Heroica looks like a fun game, and the sets are actually quite nice for their scale. The best thing is that you can probably mix'n'match microfigs from other boardgames into the Heroica world. So far the selection of heroes for the game is rather stereotypical, after all. I spotted a barbarian (yellow), a knight (grey), a wizard (red), an old cleric (tan), a female (?) ranger (blue) and a thief (black). The enemies are quite diverse, though, ranging from orcs to werewolves to the undead (and a ghost, even), not forgetting the giant spiders and bats. I don't think it will be that hard to implement the mummies from Ramses Pyramid or scorpions or snakes or pretty much anything you want into the game as well. There's definitely loads of potential in Heroica!
  16. Sorry, your request came too late. Please check the day's conclusion to see what I chose instead. We now enter another night-phase, so please send in your night actions as soon as possible. I have to say I'm very proud to see how many of you have already understood the essence of this game, and are making smart strategic moves. Keep up the great work, sweeties!
  17. Vote Tally: Danielle Barrie/Dan the Brickman: 7 (CommanderFox, Cutlass Iz, KielDaMan, Brickdoctor, Capt. Redblade, KartoffelViking, Baylego) Colette LeMans/KielDaMan: 2 (Dan the Brickman, smittyfan) Day Four has ended with the conviction of Danielle Barrie/Dan the Brickman. Furthermore, Erin Ennis/Euvor has been removed from the game due to not posting in two whole game days, and not responding to the host's inquiries. ~*~*~*~*~*~ Suspicious about the absense of the Irish guest Erin Ennis, Mr. Crusoe decided to pay a visit to her bungalow before nightfall. The bungalow was wrapped in silence, only the sounds of birds and crickets and other critters lurking in the bushes could be heard. Upon entering the bungalow, Mr. Crusoe's hat was almost knocked off by the hanged body of Erin. Her blackened face told that she'd been hanging there for most of the day. Mr. Crusoe searched the room. There were empty bottles and wine glasses scattered everywhere. It looked like Erin had been quite the drinker. Mr. Crusoe didn't blame her, after what had happened on the previous four days. Then he caught his eye on a note... Meanwhile, at the Magnolia Lodge the captives of the island had reached a decision. The convicted janitor Danielle Barrie backed down as the lynch mob encircled her. She hissed curses at the crowd, but she knew well that there was no escape from this. Then Mr. Crusoe returned, carrying a note and dragging the severed head of Erin Ennis that left a trail of blood behind him. Mr. Crusoe told the crowd that he had found Erin from her bungalow. She had committed a suicide after drinking for days. And the note explained why. "I'm so sorry. I just can't live with the guilt of being a part of this insanity anymore. Sunday didn't deserve to die, and neither did any of the others. I never wanted to be in the Mafia, I was forced into it. There's just no sense in this vendetta against Mr. Crusoe, and I hope my companions see that too before it's too late. This is too much for me, so I'm going to take myself out of the equation. I'm sorry. Erin" As Mr. Crusoe read the letter, Danielle Barrie saw her chance to flee. The crowd would have to satiate their bloodlust with the drunkard red-head, and she would live to see another day. However, she didn't get far until Mr. Crusoe caught up with her. There just was no fooling a retired elite gangster. Even tied to a chair and Mr. Crusoe flailing a crowbar in front of her face, Danielle Barrie was determined not to yield. She just refused to believe her life had come to an end. And so she screamed and screamed and screamed all through the night. ~*~*~*~*~*~ Day Four has ended. Please send in your night actions within 24 hours from now.
  18. Vote Tally: Danielle Barrie/Dan the Brickman: 1 (CommanderFox) Colette LeMans/KielDaMan: 1 (Gregorovich) Geert Rotterdam/Gregorovich: 1 (Dan the Brickman) You still have about 24 hours to reach a conviction. It takes 7 votes to convict someone. Note that "The Forest's" rule about one unvote per day is not in effect in this game. You can take back your vote as many times as you want.
  19. Mr. Crusoe returned to the others at noon, having recovered at least some of his sanity. He warned them against thinking that Dreo Jacmel had been working alone. The first note did speak of several people sent to the island, after all. With those words, it was again time to vote a person the crowd thought was most suspicious. Mr. Crusoe expected to get a name before nightfall. ~*~*~*~*~*~ Voting starts now. You will have about 48 hours from now to reach a conviction. It takes 7 votes to convict someone.
  20. I had to ask, just in case. Anyway, Day Four is up! Thank you very much for participating this experience, dr jones. I'm glad to say you've passed the Mafia School. You were a very active and enthusiastic player, so kudos for that!
  21. Another sleepless night of shrieks and cries was over, and silence had fallen over Isla Paradisa as the sun rose. The remaining members of the staff came out of Magnolia Lodge to check the situation. Few by few the guests arrived. There was only one thought on everybody's minds: who would not show up? Soon they were all gathered at the frontyard of the lodge - except for one. Where was Erin Ennis? She had been very quiet throughout the previous day. Was she hiding something? Or had the recent events pushed her over the edge? The others were about to start searching for her body when Erin finally turned up, quite tipsy and wearing only her swimsuit. She said that if this was going to be her last day on Earth, she was going to take everything out of it! That meant that nobody had died that night either. The crowd was exhilarated! But then Mr. Crusoe suddenly appeared on top of the canopy, holding the severed head of Dreo Jacmel, the bartender who had been convicted last night. Mr. Crusoe was grinning like a madman. Triumphantly he threw the bartender's head into the disgusted crowd, loudly announcing that they had got one. Mr. Jacmel had confessed to being one of the Mafia goons who were trying to force Mr. Crusoe to return the stolen money. Unfortunately Dreo Jacmel had died of his wounds before he would reveal his Mafia fellows. But that didn't bother Mr. Crusoe one bit. He had now partially satiated his lust for revenge, and was now determined to weed out the remaining Mafia goons. Somebody meekly asked how Mr. Crusoe knew that Dreo wasn't working alone. But the owner of the island just laughed and said that he didn't know! They would still have to convict someone that day. With that, Mr. Crusoe turned and left. A terrible realization struck the crowd. Would Mr. Crusoe not stop before they were all dead?! ~*~*~*~*~*~ The Rules: 1. There are 12 players in the game, so it takes 7 votes to convict someone.
  22. Sooner than you think. I'll send the night action results now, and the day will be up in a few hours. So it's 24 hours earlier than scheduled, if that's alright with everyone.
  23. Let's just say Mr. Crusoe isn't running out of tools anytime soon.
  24. Ha, I was prepared this time! Day Three has ended, and the conclusion is up right away for once. It's time to send those night actions again!
  25. Day Three: Siegmund Freiburg/smittyfan: 1 (Dan the Brickman) Dreo Jacmel/dr jones: 7 (KielDaMan, CommanderFox, KartoffelViking, Baylego, Pandora, Cutlass Iz, Brickdoctor) Keith Worthing/KartoffelViking: 1 (smittyfan) Erin Ennis/Euvor: 5 (penalty for not posting) Day Three has ended with the conviction of Dreo Jacmel/dr jones. ~*~*~*~*~*~ As another night fell upon Isla Paradisa, the crowd gathered at the beach to eat some roasted meat and discuss the voting. Many names were thrown into the air, but in the end the majority decided to go with the bartender Dreo Jacmel. Upon hearing this, Dreo dropped an entire plate of chicken wings to the sand. He tried to convince the crowd that he was not guilty, but it was futile. The decision had already been made. Quickly the Haitian bartender fled to the dark of the night. If he couldn't talk his way out of being tortured to death, he could at least run and hide. He had been on the island long enough to know a place or two where the others could not find him. Unfortunately he made the mistake of heading to the Magnolia Lodge to pick up his belongings and something to eat while hiding. Mr. Crusoe was sipping a glass of red wine on the patio, and he immediately guessed that Dreo was the unlucky one picked by the lynch mob that night. It didn't take much from the ex-con to tackle the bartender and tie him up for some heavy-handed interrogation. Mr. Crusoe intended to dig the truth out of Dreo even if it meant chopping him into pieces. ~*~*~*~*~*~ Day Three had ended, and it is time for another Night Phase. Please send me your night actions asap!
