  1. What stops you from signing into both of them? Granted, it's unlikely you get chosen to both, but you'll at least double your chances to play in the first place.
  2. Don't scare away the new players, Peanuts! Mafia School games do not have prerequisites from their participants other than that they haven't played a Mafia game here in EB before (although Hinck will apparently take in people who've only played once as well), and that they have the time and will to learn. So you don't have to know anything about the game in order to participate, but of course it helps if you know what to expect. So glancing through the previous games will give you an idea of the structure of Mafia games. You can only learn the fine nuances by playing.
  3. Okay... Here's your earlier reply to the issue of composite pictures.
  4. An excerpt from the diary of Dr. Archibald Q. Hale: It all began when I met my colleague from Cairo University, Dr. Cleo Patra, in an archeological conference. She had uncovered a parchment that told the legend of a moving pyramid built by the infamous Pharaoh Amset-Ra. I instantly knew that my friend Jake Raines, an adventuring relic hunter, would be interested in hearing this. How right I was. Jake and his accomplices Helena Skvalling and Mac McCloud book the next flight to Cairo, and together the five of us planned to seek out the elusive pyramid. Unfortunately Dr. Patra had plans of her own. She has been in contact with the spirit of Amset-Ra through an ancient dagger she possesses, and now she believes the undead pharaoh will take her as his bride. Furthermore, she somehow turned Mac against us and had him steal our maps, so the only thing we could do was follow the traces of the rogue duo. When we finally caught up with Dr. Patra and Mac, we saw a small pyramid looming in front of us. But lo and behold, right before our eyes it started rising from the sand, growing two pairs of legs and a head, and walked away. The pyramid was another one of Amset-Ra's living statues, modeled after a camel! I present you the ultimate direct-to-customer set from the Pharaoh's Quest theme: The Walking Pyramid Experience the latest adventure of Jake Raines and his gang as they race against the cunning Dr. Cleo Patra and the treacherous Mac McCloud to find the legendary Walking Pyramid. But little do they know that they are against the mummified Pharaoh Amset-Ra and his undead guards. Measuring a maximum of 50 cm in height and up to 44 cm in width, this set tops even the biggest AT-AT set from the Star Wars theme in size. The set features twelve minifigures. But it's height is not the only impressive thing about the Walking Pyramid... It also contains a hidden tomb that lifts through the roof, also opening the doors to the interior. The legs can also be bent in a multitude of ways, and each of them has a compartment for the mummy soldiers to hide in. The back of the pyramid opens up to reveal an entrance to the tomb. Two Anubis statues guard the passage. The pharaoh holds his most valuable relics inside the tomb - he needs to take them with him where-ever he goes, after all. The entire roof can be lifted off for better access. The twelve minifigures in the set include Jake Raines in a new, white Lawrence-of-Arabia-esque attire, his allies Helena Skvalling and Dr. Archibald Hale also in modified clothing, their rival Dr. Cleo Patra with her enchanted dagger, the traitor Mac McCloud in black, and Pharaoh Amset-Ra along with six of his soldiers (2 mummy warriors, 2 Anubis Guards, 1 Horus Guard and 1 camel driver). The set also features two camels for the heroes and their rivals to ride on. Thank you for viewing my entry! I can give you the exact piece count when I dismantle the set, but for now I have no idea how many pieces have went into the set. There must be a cazillion of the tiny golden round plates alone. I do hope you enjoy this set enough to vote for it, because after putting so much effort into it, I consider it the best MOC I have ever built.
  5. Oh wow, what a beautiful creation! The temple actually feels organic and it's instantly recognizable as an elven structure. The elves themselves have a comedic effect on the creation, though. It looks like there's only one hairdresser in the elven community, and s/he can only do one type of hairdos. So yeah, you should've given the elves varying hairstyles. The long hairpieces make up the lack of pointy ears quite well, for example. But anyway, I do love the temple and it's surroundings. Very nice!
  6. Your question has been answered a few pages back, and the answer was no, composite pictures are not okay.
  7. Thanks for the big pictures, grogall! Still waiting for those folders to become public, though. There's seemingly six type of heroes in Heroica: Barbarian (yellow, featured in all four packs) Cleric (dark tan, featured in Waldurk and Fortaan) Knight (grey, exlusive to Fortaan) Mage (red, featured in Draida, Nathuz and Fortaan) Ranger (blue, exclusive to Waldurk) Thief (black, exclusive to Nathuz) Shame that none of them are female, but the Champions boardgame is a quick fix on that. The microfigs in Minotaur, Ramses Pyramid and NinjaGo also fit the Heroica world excellently.
  8. I'm wondering how the photo limitation will affect the outcome of this contest. There's several outstanding entries that exceed the maximum limit of six photos in their respective topics. It'd be a shame if these entries would be disqualified because of that, but on the other hand, a rule is a rule. Might want to give those who're breaking that rule a heads-up, though. Anyway, I'm posting my entry tomorrow. It'll be tough to portray it in only six photos, but I'll try my best...
  9. Yay, another victory for the good guys! Well done guys, and what a fantastic, exhausting and hilarious game you hosted, Hinck! Thanks for including me, even though I didn't make it very far, and was distracted by my own hosting duties. I have to admit that after I was killed off, I had no idea what was going on in the game even though I followed the Day-topics. The amount of night actions was almost as staggering as their amount in Eurodina. So I just have to congratulate the winners for clearing your way through that tangled mess. Here's the hot piece of hare meat I appeared as:
  10. I like this entry, as it's very close to what the actual sets are like. You've got the large living animal statue, the dark red vehicle, and the pharaoh himself surrounded by his army of fashion-conscious mummies. It also has the same "spirit" as my own upcoming entry, but I won't say more about it until I unveil it. Good luck on the contest!
  11. Good job, Alopex! I love the presentation, and I think you listed the most important roles. A few suggestions for improvement, though: - You should move "vanilla townie" from the glossary to the list of roles, in my opinion, even though it is not an actual role itself. - You have listed the few werewolf-related roles in blue, but you're missing the actual werewolf role. - There are some grammar issues, like missing letters and capitalization, and wrong words like it's/its, then/than etc. You should check through your text again.
  12. I just received this series today after ordering it from Bricklink, and I must say that seeing the figs up close and getting my hands on them only strenghtened my opinion that Series 4 of the collectable minifigs is my favorite series so far. There are just so many great minifigs in it, like the geisha, the painter, the musketeer, the figure skater, the mad scientist... Aside from the minor quality issues, I am eternally grateful for TLG for giving us these series, and I hope there will be more upcoming for years to come!
  13. The night actions weren't my choice, exactly. I discussed them with Dragonator and we saw best to only include the most basic night actions. That way the players could always trust the host to tell them the truth, which is essential when you're trying to teach something to someone. Not long at all, just a few evenings.
  14. That would've been too unfair in my opinion. There have been games where only one player has survived in the end, after all. As comments to this topic are waning, I want to throw some mood pictures from Isla Paradisa (used in the "brochure" in the sign-up topic) as a dessert of sorts. Enjoy!
  15. Thanks for the compliments, guys! You make me want to host yet another game, no matter how arduous hosting really is. Thanks for showing an interest towards my game! Sorry I couldn't involve you more as an intern, but it's nice to hear you felt you learned something nevertheless. The theme month games do not count as Mafia games, since they're just mindless massacres, not the real deal. You still need to participate in a Mafia School game (and pass) before you are allowed to sign into a more advanced game.
  16. Ooh, how cool! That tv-series must not have been very widely-spread, but I do remember the Fabuland picture books from my childhood. Edward, Max and Bonnie were the "protagonists" in those as well.
  17. The player evaluations are now up! Check them out from the first post. If you want to, go ahead!
  18. *Note: This topic is open to everyone to post in* A week had passed on Isla Paradisa since the murder of the holiday resort's hostess Sunday that had begun a series of tragic events. Several others had died in the process, but now it seemed the murderers had all been caught. But the owner of the resort, Mr. Crusoe, was still grieving for his dead lover. Would he believe her death had been avenged? Bridget Darwin, an Australian police officer off-duty, went to Mr. Crusoe's office in the morning of the seventh day after the murders began. She told that she had investigated all the remaining guests on the island, and had found all of them innocent. But Mr. Crusoe refused to take her words for granted, so he pulled a revolver from his desk drawer. Blinded by sorrow, he suspected that this was just another Mafia plot. Fortunately Keith Worthing, who was a vacationing doctor, rushed in to defend Bridget. He explained that he had prevented the Mafia goons to kill Bridget on two occasions. Furthermore, nobody had died after the last Mafia goon, Panda Panjin, had been convicted. After a moment of suspense, Mr. Crusoe lowered the revolver. He finally had to admit to himself that this ordeal was now over. All Mafia goons had been exterminated, and Isla Paradisa was again the den of peace and quiet it had been before. A week passed, and the ferry arrived once again. The crew and the new guests were horrified to learn what had happened on the island. Mr. Crusoe told the ferry's crew to take the remaining six guests home. He would remain on the island to fix things up, but he instructed them to send a boat in a few days. Mr. Crusoe then bid farewell to those who had survived the ordeal with him. They were all pleased to leave the island behind, and they all swore to spend their future holidays in some crowded and noisy tourist attraction. So ended the nightmare on Isla Paradisa. But there was still one secret it held... The staff members Ravi Bombay, Raquel Benito Juarez and Geert Rotterdam, who had all been convicted but found innocent by Mr. Crusoe, had not been killed by the owner after all. They had been hiding in a cave near the beach all this time, while Mr. Crusoe had pretended to have killed them in order to protect them. Now that the guests had left, Mr. Crusoe came to retrieve the hiding staff members. Even though the infiltrating Mafia goons had all been killed, the Mafia would not give up until they would get their stolen money back, so Mr. Crusoe had to come up with a plan of his own. Mr. Crusoe gave the three staff members a briefcase with all the information about his hidden bank accounts. All of his possessions would now belong to them, including Isla Paradisa. As his final words, Mr. Crusoe adviced that they shouldn't remain on the island for too long, though. The Mafia would surely send more goons to see what had happened there. The trio took the advice, split the money three ways and lived on. As for Mr. Crusoe, he had nothing left, so he decided to reunite with the love of his life, Sunday. ~*~*~*THE END*~*~*~ First of all, congratulations to the survivors of this game: Brickdoctor, KartoffelViking, Cutlass Iz, KielDaMan, Baylego and Capt. Redblade. You worked together efficiently to ensure the victory to the Town. Mafia School - Class of April 2011 The following players have passed the Mafia School, and will now be able to sign into the advanced Mafia games: Baylego, Brickdoctor, Captain Tamamono, Capt. Redblade, CommanderFox, Cutlass Iz, Dan the Brickman, dr jones, Gregorovich, KartoffelViking, KielDaMan, Pandora, Raven Brickroft, and smittyfan. I want to express my sincerest thanks to all of you who participated in this experience! This was the very first Mafia School game in the history of this board, and hopefully all you students feel you learned enough to take a chance and sign into the more advanced games. Once the Mafia-bug bites, it's hard to stop, as you might have noticed. This game is now over, so feel free to post anything and everything you have to say about it, whether you were a participant or just a watcher yourself. Below is a list of individual evaluations of all of the players. The Winners: Bridget Darwin (Brickdoctor) - Town (Cop) - Passed You were the collective force of the Town, thanks to your night action. The Mafia got on your trail quickly, but thanks to KartoffelViking's protections, you managed to survive until you finally knew the alignments of all your co-players. Casey Roswell (Capt. Redblade) - Town - Passed Despite being one of the less active players, you played well. You started voting when it counted, and helped convict two Mafia goons. Colette LeMans (KielDaMan) - Town - Passed You played passionately, which roused some suspicions towards you during a couple of days, but you overcame them and were one of the key players in earning the victory for the Town. Keith Worthing (KartoffelViking) - Town (Doctor) - Passed You got lucky with protecting the right person from Night One, and wisely did not stray from that path. You also played covertly so that the Mafia goons didn't even suspect you of being the Doctor. Kylan Ise (Cutlass Iz) - Town - Passed You were also one of the less active players especially towards the end, but whenever you posted, it was to smack some sense into your fellow Townies and steer them to the right path. Vanya Livny (Baylego) - Town - Passed You played well, never drawing attention towards you, yet always participating in voting out the Mafia goons. The Losers: Ravi Bombay, the Chef (RvB) - Town - convicted on Day One - Failed I'm thoroughly disappointed of your behaviour after you were voted out. You showed a level of immaturity that's just not appropriate in these boards, so I had no choice but not to let you pass. Raquel Benito Juarez, the Maid (Raven Brickroft) - Town - convicted on Day Two - Passed You inactivity became your doom. And the lie about knowing the killer had long hair, what was that all about?! Claudia Toscana, the Lifeguard (Captain Tamamono) - Town - killed on Night Two - Passed You brought much color and spark to the game, especially in the Discussion topic. Thanks for that, and sorry you got killed off so soon! Dreo Jacmel, the Bartender (dr jones) - Mafia - convicted on Day Three - Passed Your conviction started the downfall of the Mafia goons. You just didn't watch what you said, which is crucial for someone playing scum. Erin Ennis (Euvor) - Mafia - commited suicide on Day Four - Failed What happened to you? You were participating well, but suddenly you just disappeared without a word! It did not only harm you, but your fellow Mafia goons as well. For that, I could not allow you to pass. Danielle Barrie, the Janitor (Dan the Brickman) - Mafia - convicted on Day Four - Passed You played well, but by refusing to vote for dr jones you sealed your fate. You also made the mistake of trying to kill Brickdoctor for a second time, even though you knew he was the Cop and thus was likely to be under protection. Cruz Fortaleza (CommanderFox) - Town - killed on Night Four - Passed You were enthusiastic, but that did not help you against the Mafia goons. You did nothing wrong, though. Geert Rotterdam, the Personal Trainer (Gregorovich) - Town - convicted on Day Five - Passed I'm willing to give you a pass because you showed interest in this game and participated actively, but you really should've read what I posted more carefully in order to understand how this game worked better. I sincerely hope you know enough about it now. Siegmund Freiburg (smittyfan) - Town - killed on Night Five - Passed Along with Captain Tamamono, you were also responsible for the entertainment in the Discussion topic. I just think it rubbed people the wrong way which eventually got you killed by the one remaining Mafia goon. Panda Panjin (Pandora) - Mafia - convicted on Day Six - Passed You were clearly the leading force of the Mafia goons from the get-go, creating a Writeboard for you guys etc. After your three Mafia companions went down all in a row, there was no way you could've won. You still played valiantly to the very end, and for that I awarded you with a special ending. Thank you all for playing, once again! I'm sure we'll be playing together in future Mafia games one day.
  19. Day Six is now over. I want to thank Pandora for playing! You made a valiant effort, but I think everybody knew it was too late for you already. Hope you appreciate the way I wrote you out of the game, though. But guess what, people? We've made it to the end of the first Mafia School session! Congrats on all of you who survived! Please look forward to the Conclusion-topic that will be posted as soon as possible. It will be open to all players and watchers of this game, and there you can post all the comments, questions and feedback you have to share. Thank you for the great experience and the successfull experiment, everybody!
  20. Vote Tally: Panda Panjin/Pandora: 5 (Capt. Redblade, Baylego, Brickdoctor, KartoffelViking, KielDaMan) Day Six has ended with the conviction of Panda Panjin/Pandora. ~*~*~*~*~*~ The lynch mob got Panda Panjin cornered. They seemed convinced that she was a Mafia goon, and the last one of them, too. But rather than trying to escape, Panda fought back. It might've been clichéd for a Japanese woman to know karate, but she sure did. A swift kick to the groin made Keith Worthing tumble down. In an elegant series of motion Panda threw Bridget Darwin to the ground and busted Kylan Ise's kneecap. Keith had toppled over Casey Roswell, and Colette LeMans tried to help the men up.Vanya Livny saw it best to just run away screaming. By the time Mr. Crusoe had managed to push himself through the crowd, Panda had split. Mr. Crusoe cursed and dashed after her. He chased Panda all the way to the beach and up the side of a cliff. Mr. Crusoe told Panda that there was nowhere to run. Panda just screamed back that she would not allow her head to be put on a pole like the others had. So she stepped over the ledge... ...and dove into the ocean. Mr. Crusoe swore again. Out of a sudden, a mighty sea monster leaped out of the water in front of his eyes, with Panda on its jaws. The legend was true after all! Mr. Crusoe was convinced that the island itself had turned on the Mafia goons for breaking the peace and harmony. Night fell as Mr. Crusoe made his way to the others. He told them only that Panda was gone now, and they should all go to their beds. They would sort this out in the morning. The remaining six guests returned to their bungalows with only one thought in their minds: what would happen next?
  21. Oh noes! Cute overload! The little girls in my workplace at the kindergarten would absolutely love this forum now.
  22. Seriously, I wouldn't be so hard on Gregorovich if this was still Day One, but we're on Day Six. He's been asking these types of questions throughout this process, and I've continuously told him to read the rules and pay attention to what I post. I don't know if I've just been a bad teacher or what...
  23. Voting starts now. You have a maximum of 48 hours to cast your votes, and it takes four votes to convict someone.
  24. Oh no, not again... Gregorovich, have you been paying any attention? A "cop" is one of the roles in this game that have night actions (you know, the ones I ask some people to send me after every Day topic?), the other ones being the Doctor (who can prevent someone from being killed at night) and the Mafia goons (the ones that do the killing). I sincerely hope you read this to avoid embarrassing moments like this in the future... Quoted for truth.
