BREAKING NEWS ABOUT JOB CLASSES! I have decided that there will be seven expert job classes open to players over Level 30, and each of them is tied to a main faction. To gain access to a certain faction's expert job class, you need to have a great reputation with a faction, having completed at least two quests for the house in power. Furthermore, accomplished Quest Masters are also welcome to pitch their own expert job class that is tied to a faction presented in their own quests (for example the Lion Knights, the Brobric Elves or the Wren Hunters). The tentative job classes tied with the main houses of power are: Minstrel (The Hinckwells) Dragoon (The Shadeaux) Necromancer (The Ziegfrieds) Cannoneer (The Bonapartes) Alchemist (The Guild of Invision) Chi Monk (The Ji Pei) Beast Warrior (The Wolfgang) Adding to that, players that reach Level 50 can opt to choose one of three master job classes that combine the talents of the basic job classes. The master job classes are: Mime (open to everyone) Paragon (open to original barbarians, knights and rogues) Prophet (open to original clerics, mages and rangers) Further details of these are provided once their skillsets are finalized.

Yes, that's what most people have done too.

General Discussion and Announcements
Sandy replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
You'll have to wait a long, long time in that case. -
Bwahaha! Looks just like me! Nice job, Rumble!

I haven't seen a single episode of the modern series, so I wouldn't know the quest was a parody to begin with.

I don't think the types you used are as self-explanatory as you make them up to be, and players can get confused about which elements they can use to damage these enemies. As a QM you have to look at things from the players perspective and always be specific in your enemy descriptions to avoid misunderstandings. "The way you see it" may not be the way the players see it, remember that. So please use the official enemy types listed in the rules, or if you want to use original types, please mention their elemental strengths and weaknesses as well.

I agree with darkdragon on this issue. The summoned spirits can be encouraged (and hastened) but in the War Cry's case they must already be summoned for it to take effect.

"If you didn't listen then, I doubt you will listen now", Byblos said, turning away. OoC: Seriously, read the opening post of this topic. You'll find all the details you need from there.

It's alright, having everyone else know the truth about the matter makes Drake's lie for a story that much more pathetic. He really is a sad figure... (perhaps unintentionally?)
-
How about Technomancy? This site also lists Chronomancy (time), Flectomancy (gadgets), Spatiomancy (space) and Carnomancy (flesh).
-
Lumomancer would sound shorter and sweeter to me, and it has been used in other works of fiction as well. It also pairs neatly with Umbromancer, although most other sources seem to use it as the opposite of Necromancer.

If you really don't want to use it (free items, come on!), just sell it for 40 gold as you have to sell at half the value. I don't have time to bargain on individual items, sorry to say. I edited the instructions accordingly.

Again, the setting of this game isn't medieval, it's fantasy. You can order fried phoenix wings, sirloin of a unicorn and boiled brains of a chupacabra, and probably get what you ordered.

"Would you like to know about the history of this building itself or the organization in general? Because the original six Veterans founded Heroica and built the Hall just about 250 years ago. You should know why it was founded since you joined us. All rookies get that lecture."

Like I said, if the quest idea doesn't directly involve your character as an NPC, then it's plausible. And of course it's alright for player characters to be affected by events in quests they didn't personally participate in. I don't want to rein anyone's freedom of roleplaying.

Hmm, I wonder if that hairpiece is too long for figs with sloped skirts... It kinda looks like it would be. Otherwise I absolutely adore the fig - almost as much as I adore the original Legolas from the films.

It seems my intuition was right, then. The main problem with these personal quests is that the actual players are in danger of being left in the sidelines as the QM lives through the story of his or her own character, and that seems to have been the case with your quest idea as well if I'm not badly mistaken. A QM should always put the players first in his or her mind. How to best involve them, how to entertain them, how to challenge them, etc. The story should serve as a backdrop to that, not the whole purpose. Otherwise the game loses its interactive nature, what makes it an actual game rather than a scripted play.

Byblos smiles at the fellow Metasimian, and switches to the native tongue of his people. "<Certainly! Forgive me if I stumble in my words, for it has been a long time since I left the jungles. I was young, curious and overly confident when I left the Mistlands and arrived to Eubric Freeport. I got work as a scholar's apprentice, and indulged myself with books - as you know, we don't have much of those in the jungles. The stories I read made my imagination go wild, and I pictured myself as this iconic hero who would deliver the world from evil. I had heard about this organization and eventually decided to enroll in it, against my better knowledge. I participated in one quest as a beginning cleric, but it did not go smoothly at all. I found myself sitting in a pitch dark and damp jail cell, thinking that if I make it out alive I will never go on a quest again. Soon after I was released, the previous librarian disappeared without a trace, and I was hired to take care of this place. I've been here ever since, and enjoyed every day of it. I must admit that I've felt a little detached without the company of my tribesmen, but that has changed now that Byblos and you are here.>" Byblos rolled his eyes. "Maybe I should hold a public lecture to all champions about the subject, so that I would't be constantly pestered. Alright, sit down and I shall tell you everything I know about the place." "Dastan Empire lies to the north-east of the Crystalline Sea. It's an expansive nation that has engulfed many kingdoms under its influence over the centuries. The landscape is mountainous, with tall peaks and deep valleys, ice cold lakes and fierce winds. Dastan is most famous for its incredible amount of dragons, many of which have allowed themselves to be used by the people." "The empire is ruled by an union of three emperors, the current ones being Severus Septrine, Alandri Fowler and Roland Emeraldo, if my memory serves me right. They each come from different parts of the nation, as is the tradition, to ensure an equal and just reign. Having their own representative on the thrones keeps the people satisfied and the land unified. Of course the iron hold that the Dragon Knights have across the land helps as well. Few dare to oppose an army that rides on fire-breathing dragons." "The imperial capital of Dastan is called Drakencourt, and it was build on the banks of the deep Lake Glaz, also know as the "Eye of the Dragon". Just take a glance of the map and you'll see why that is. With three rulers to suck up to, you can just imagine what the life is like for the nobility in there. I'd say the amount of scheming and backstabbing is comparable to the back alleys of The Hovels. The harsh environment make living off the land hard there, but the Dastanese are survivors by nature and proud of their nationality." "The history of Dastan is far from peaceful. It required a lot of bloodshed and dethroning for the nation to be united under one banner. The last war fought against the Lion Kingdom that reigned the northern parts of the current empire. The lions fell, eventually, but their legacy still lives in the Lion Knights that have found their way to Uland as well. The other bordering nations, such as the kingdoms of the Fang Coast and the Darklands of Babeleth, have been deemed too inconsequential to be taken over by the empire, but who knows what the future will bring. With the military force that Dastan has, it might very well dominate the whole world if it wanted to." "I hope this lesson has quenched your thirst for knowledge. Please, pay a visit to the country yourself sometime if you want to learn more. They say the scenery is breathtaking, especially if you get to ride a dragon."

Brickdoctor, the amount of NPCs in your quest is astounding considering that it has roughly even started. I'm all for expanding the story with supporting characters, but I pity the poor players who will have to keep up with the endless string of names and faces thrown at them. You're not the first one to come up with a quest idea involving their own character, and unfortunately I've turned all of them down. As tempting as it is to make a quest revolving around your own character, that's not what being a QM should be about. You're supposed to make a quest for other players, not for yourself. Hope you understand. That's not to say you can't make a quest that takes place in Haldor's home village, you just cannot involve Haldor in it.

Mafia School: A Bedtime Story - Conclusion

"Nico, I gotta tell you something... I'm adopted... from the forest." -
I'm sorry, legomendes, but this is not even close to how you're supposed to create a character. Please read the rules again with thought, if you really want to play.

No, the effects of the scrolls should not stack. They're powerful enough as they are.
-
Sorry, I remembered it wrong. I'll go change it now.

Flare: you cannot sell anything that doesn't have a set price in the Marketplace. The merchants there do not haggle or make offers. If the item has a set price, then it can be sold at half of that value.
