  1. Scheherazade, the matron of the hall's saloon, had just finished mopping the staircase when the front doors opened and a woman in green stepped in. She was carrying a staff and large basket with a pink bundle in it. Upon closer inspection Scheherazade saw that the bundle was actually a baby girl. The orcish matron shifted her eyes from the baby to the woman. "So that's where you've been, Miss Arbour. Or is it missus nowadays?" The young woman shook her head and let out a little chuckle. Scheherazade nodded, understanding the woman's situation. "The burden of a lonely mother is hard to bear, but like I always say, a man would only be in the way. So, will you be signing into new quests? I don't think many employers will let you take the baby with you..." The woman in green shook her head again. "Not in a while, I think. I'm actually looking for the Training Room. But before that, can I get some water for little Elpis here?" "Of course, just follow me." The matron led the woman and the baby upstairs to the bar. At the top of the staircase, the woman stopped to look around the foyer, and sighed deeply. "If this is really what you want me to do, my goddess, I will do it. I will rejoin Heroica", Ellaria Arbour said. Then she looked down at her infant daughter. "But what will I do with you, my speck of hope?"
  2. I already said the quest can continue...
  3. The quest will continue under Bricksandparts' hosting, but I've asked him to change the battle to follow the normal ruleset.
  4. I agree with Tanma. "Jinxed" sounds more like the opposite of "lucky" than "cursed".
  5. Great to see you back with more FF-goodness, Omicron! Nice use of the new pink hair. You've managed to make her look quite close to the original. I've said this to you earlier, but using "cloths" makes the minifig look stockier than it would be with just a print. Pretty good job anyway, although there's still room for improvement. No, that's a gunblade.
  6. I have to apologize to players in Bricksandpart's quest (#25). He is going totally behind my back by introducing these new rules and mechanics, and I've now confronted him about it. Depending on his choice, the quest will either soon continue with the normal rules, or it will be terminated. While I appreciate the creativity of the Quest Masters, I do require they approve their new ideas with me. Especially the battle mechanics have been carefully balanced, and totally revamping them without my approval is just crossing the line too far. B&P did not even ask me if he could change the battle system. I hope everyone agrees with my decision. I don't want to be seen as a dictator, but I need to keep this game within certain borders to keep it fair and fun to everyone. EDIT: In other news, here's a new batch of effects that will be added to the official rules: Negative effects: Cursed – The target loses 3 maximum health each round until only 1 health remains, the effect is remedied or the battle is over. Weakened – The target causes halved damage (rounded up) for the next three turns or until the effect is remedied. Fragile – The target takes double damage for the next three turns or until the effect is remedied. Slowed – The target can only act once every other round until the effect is remedied or the battle is over. Minimized – The target is reduced to a microfig for three rounds, decreasing their power, max. health and max. ether to 10% of the normal value (rounded up). Positive effects: Immune to [Element] – The target does not take damage from attacks that are of the specified element. Immune to Magic – The target does not take damage from elemental attacks or attacks that consume ether. Immune to Physical – The target does not take damage from non-elemental attacks. Immune to [Effect] – The target is not affected by the specified effect. Immune to Effects – The target is not affected by any other effect, whether they are negative or positive.
  7. IMPORTANT NOTICE! This quest is now officially put on a break until I sort a few things with the Quest Master. Do not post into this topic until I give permission to do it again. EDIT: The quest will now continue with the normal game mechanics.
  8. Simply put, the heroes can fight in two rows: the front and the back. The fighters in the front can reach the enemy easier, but are also easier to damage. The fighters in the back are harder to reach, but also cause decreased damage unless they use ranged weapons or spells. If you still didn't understand, here's a picture:
  9. Also, from the back row you need to take some steps to reach the enemy, giving it time to avoid your attack from hitting straight-on. But really, this is just a game, don't think it too realistically or you'll lose all enjoyment.
  10. I've played it so that damage caused by poison is reduced at the very end of the round, meaning that the enemy would get a Free Hit before it passes out.
  11. I'm sorry, Capt.John-Paul, but I don't see how your idea would make a suitable quest. It's just too farfetched.
  12. I did say in the Library topic that Duplovia is a city that was built by now-extinct giants.
  13. Exactly, it's a wake-up roll. The sleeping hero can get attacked for example by a Free Hit or an area-of-effect special, and wake up because of that.
  14. A green-clad woman with a large basket approached Anwyl Smokebeard's smithy. "Excuse me, kind smith, but what kind of a ranged weapon would you recommend to a lass like me?" the young woman inquired. The smith raised his bushy eyebrows. "It depends... Can you draw a longbow?" he asked. "No, I don't think so." "Load a handcannon?" "That sounds loud. And loud noises are a big no-no for me nowadays" the woman said, nodding towards the basket she was carrying. "Throw a shuriken?" "No, I don't want any sharp pointy objects lying around." "Alrighty then, it's a crossbow for you, Miss." Anwyl grabs a shiny Fauxthril Crossbow from the rack behind him and hands it to the woman. "Silent, easy to load, and only the bolts are sharp and pointy. It's yours for 50 gold." The woman puts the basket down, takes the crossbow from the smith and weighs it in her hand. "I'll take it" she says with a smile, pointing Anwyl with the crossbow. "But can you please merge it with an Emerald and upgrade it to a power of six as well? Here's 160 gold to cover the expenses. I'll come fetch it later, it's feeding time now." The woman hands the confused Anwyl the gold, picks up the basket and hums a soft melody to whatever she carries in it as she walks away.
  15. I think everyone agrees that all the game mechanics and rules introduced for this game are freely usable by all QMs. Otherwise what would be the point of creating anything for this game if nobody else could use it? Not without consulting me about it first. I have specific plans for all the main houses, so I don't want anyone screwing them up.

  17. Duh, everyone knows that nudity is worse than all of those things combined.
  18. Are you two serious? Is this your idea of good roleplaying? Talking to your "alter ego" instead of the other players like you're supposed to? Not to mention that you're both basically just copycating Althior and Boomingham, only with different font colors. I know other players have addressed this before, but as the manager of this game I want to say I'm utterly disappointed. On another matter... Should I consider giving this game an R-rating?
  19. Thank you for your fast comments! I've now edited the FAQ to mention that changing equipped artifacts during a battle costs a turn. Yes, she will, very soon. I just need to take some pictures for her reintroduction...
  20. You can of course carry more than two artefacts, but you can only have two of them equipped at a time. I think I will have to impose a rule about switching artefacts: if you want to switch your equipped artefacts when in a battle, it will cost you a turn. I'm not sure if the same should apply to weapons as well... Discussion?
  21. When you have to explain the items effect in so many words, there's something wrong with it. Besides, the item is breaking the core mechanics of this game. A player can only do ONE thing per a round of battle, unless hastened. They can either attack or use an item, not both. The way I see it is that as an artefact, your item is not overpowered but deadweight. Remember that a player can only equip two artefacts at a time, so the player would have to carry around something that can be used only once per quest and even then it might be in vain, instead of an artefact that can actually be useful. Since the item is breaking the basic rules, I will have to request that you either edit it the way I suggested or remove the item altogether, please. In it's current state it just doesn't work like you intended to. Trust me on this. There should be as few of those as possible, because they nullify the need to buy consumables. I really regret introducing the Lucky Die in the first place.
  22. See, QMs? You are doing the players an actual disservice if you deal out too complex items. That's why I'm bitching about the matter.
  23. If the effects are something that might cause confusion or break balance, then yeah. It would be preferable if QMs followed the weapon suitability defined by the official rules, because with all these specialized weapons around, there's been some confusion about who can use what. Always remember that it's perfectly fine to have basic weapons, potions and gold as rewards in quests. With every other item being unique and specialized, the game gets increasingly harder to both play and host. Just looking at some character's inventories already gives me a headache.
  24. This is another item I would've wanted to see before it was used in a quest, because there's a few distinct problems with it. So it's an artefact that gives 1 SP (I don't really see how it can defend from damage, but okay...), but it is also an item that has to be used for its other effect to work. So the player has to spend an artefact slot to be able to use the item, then they will have to spend a turn to use it, and in the end they might find out that it was all unnecessary since the results were fine already. So the player just wasted a turn that could've been used to cause damage, and also wasted the sole use of the item because it cannot be used again for the whole quest, and was also unable to equip a better artefact that would've actually been helpful. Do you see what I mean? In it's current state the item seems powerful, but really is just a waste of space and time. I suggest you change the artefact into a consumable item that allows a player to replay a round of battle once as if it never happened. Wouldn't that make the item all the more worthwhile? Please, people, consult me about matters like this! EDIT: Oh, despite of this, congratulations on a job well done with your first hosting duty, Xarrzan!
  25. Looks good enough. Please PM me more details about the quest (how long you estimate it will take, how many battles will it include etc.), some enemy statistics as well as some pictures you've prepared for the quest, and I will make the final evaluation after that.
