A trademark late welcome.. all the same glad you're here... God Bless, Nathan

Hey all, Since the issue has been raised in one of those numerous pirate threads, what should be done to help castle in this forum? -More MOCs would be great but I can only build so fast and others would have to start sharing... -I'd be happy to do a bi-weekly/whenever-I-feel-like it set review of castle sets but I hesitated on this because I wasn't sure how it would be recieved. -I'd also be happy to start pulling past and present greats off brickshelf (similar to current piratical practice). -In the more distant future I could look into a competition, perhaps inviting the wider castle community? -The main flaw, by common consent, is the lack of a dedicated quazi-insane castle fanatic to daily flood us in all things stone built and armour covered... anyone want to step up? -The current need is just to step up volume, before something special (aka the new piratey thing) is even considered... While I'm in a rare serious mood: One other point that would help the whole forum (and EB) would be to really raise the MOCing standard. If we can't do this with our own MOCs we can bring in BS material and review it in more depth than 'WOW' to create a learning/MOCing enviroment where constructive criticism helps builders to flourish... You're thoughts advertised here in this thread send cash or lego to Nathan... God Bless all, Nathan

May I recommend Joe Meno's version. One of the long time aqua zone greats... God Bless, Nathan

Emperor's Ship Pic Review
Norro replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for the review... This was the best (or most natural) castle ship lego has made outside the theme. Unfortunatly it was the dock that stole the show in your picture review ;-) demonstrating once again that MOCs are superior to sets. God Bless, Nathan -
Our 2 to 1 supremacy has slipped... ;-) God Bless, Nathan

My local toy store has this for an insane 45 euro... what price is it near you? Thanks and God Bless, Nathan

Respect where respect is do... Lugnet was a community long before the others existed and I would still not treat it as merely a resource... God Bless, Nathan

The building is not that great, the scenery is almost completely confined to baseplate level and there is a high percentage of left handed badly posed (in my opinion) gunmen... Nathan

I look forward to this for the parts sake alone... X-D God Bless, Nathan

Delicately balances 'lugnet defending hat' on head- Lugnet has a lot to be said for it. It is the only site that keeps all building disciplines under one roof and allows ideas to flourish and cross fertilisation to take place. ie I am a huge castle fan but can go and be struck by a huge space ship and then find it is backed by a whole newsgroup (not just the same people with a diff MOC). It's database is also unrivaled (still!). And (without belittling EB, which I love) the MOC quality on Lugnet can not be matched by any of the syphoned off communities. I also love the posting style, the formal and slightly longer structure leads to well thought out constructive criticism and less one line 'wow' posting or childish interjections. If a poor MOC is posted on Lugnet it does not get a great deal of praise (and in the old more friendly days I could guarantee it would get some help and no rude remarks). I find it annoying when I post a MOC on cc and get say 12-15 replys for a 6ft castle and then swarms of kids fill pages with praise for a baseplate with some bricks on it or basic set modification... that neverhappened on Lugnet. I should also note it is free to post on Lugnet (I did for several years) the fee allows you to personalize the database i.e. store a complete set list with pics/tallied piece count/ and instruction links. on lugent. see my much better written defence of Lugnet on cc: here I should add, I love EB and post more here than anywhere else. I just also lave the Lugnet concept and wished it still held... God Bless, Nathan

Thanks for posting these links... Oh and... Am I the only one who finds everywhere else except Lugnet confusing? God Bless, Nathan

Decoding Lego Hieroglyphics
Norro replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Interesting... I remember wondering about this a while ago but assuming thst Lego would have just gone for looks... God Bless, Nathan -
The concept is good but I can't help but feel that the execution is a little weak... God Bless, Nathan

This sums up my feelings so had to be repeated ;-) God Bless, Nathan

Favorite Egyptian Desert Set
Norro replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I went with 5958 Mummy's Tomb. It was the first adventurers set I got and remains a fav. Good pieces, very playable, a self contained story, and a good price point. The Oasis Ambush would probably come in 2nd. I also would really like (I don't have) the little raft set, I seem to be a sucker for raft sets... God Bless, Nathan -

If anyone can consistantly rescue yellowed parts let me know X-D God Bless, Nathan

That is bad... but whyt would they change it? God Bless, Nathan

Lego's response to the heavy criticism of the bley change was to announce a new permanent colour scheme (see Lugnet for details). This was aimed to help people in your position. For me (as one of the complainers) it was just annoying: "I don't like the new colour" - "OK we'll make it permanent"?! For my personal style of MOC (Castle with heavy influence of scenery) the bley simply looks terrible. I therefore don't want any which in turn makes all new sets less desirable. It is frustrating... I voted for no.2 as well but my sympathies probably lay between it and no.1. The more I discover snot the more my buildings improve to the point that comparing some of my old MOCs to newer ones is obscene. That said, a MOC that is clearly just built to show some technique and looks terrible, is worthy of very little respect. God Bless, Nathan

I also have mine set aside in some special place... I guess it is that kind of fig, really cool to hold but I can never find a use for him in one of my MOCs... God Bless, Nathan
