  1. My collection started in 1991 (with a few older sets as they had longer shelf lifes back then...) So yes, this set was the oldest set in my collection (once I aquired it). God Bless, Nathan
  2. That is pretty much a good assesment.... God Bless, Nathan
  3. Welcome aboard! God Bless, Nathan
  4. Hey and welcome, Hope we can eventually lure you into castle (even via vikings ;-) )! God Bless, Nathan
  5. shame! X-D but I'll let you off based on the next sentence... Sorry for opening the can clearly labeled 'worms'*, I figured this thhread was meant for one user in particular, but I didn't want to be accused of flooding, so I thought I would ask... Thanks and God Bless, Nathan *This obscure reference to an old irish/american saying may not translate well...
  6. This was about 1995 for Castle wasn't it? I noticed the same happened to pirates in 96, but the 95 sets weren't lacking. This was 1996, the year all lego began to change... If I had only known what was to come I would have bought everything without complaining though ;-) . And somewhere up there you referenced the ladder... It is a catapult (and probably one of Lego's best for range if you take it off the baseplate so that you can actually use it ...) God Bless, Nathan
  7. How do you do that? It was the last attempt of lego to go non-military in a castle set, and also the largest civilian vehicle I can remember (Maiden's cart is the only other one I can think of and that wasn't available world-wide...) God Bless, Nathan
  8. When I first realized old sets could be tracked down online (pre Brickbay/Bricklink) I set out to find this as it had crossed axe figs (which I didn't at the time) and looked like it couldn't cost much (I am not rich...) It introduced me to the lego that predates my collection... God Bless, Nathan
  9. Oh! ME! ME! X-D though it will involve removing Tygurah's only vote... God Bless, Nathan
  10. In 2003 everything was still system based so I am guessing the swap took place to coincide (or more likely follow by about a year, given the normal Legoland routiine) the 4+ release as you said... God Bless, Nathan
  11. Would you consider my recent castle based ones original enough? God Bless, Nathan
  12. I would still like another copy of this set, this review is just an attempt to lower its value... and with fallen tree... 6079 Dark Forest Fortress Year: 1996 Elements: 461 Figs: 7 list Price: $50 (USD) officialy but this one fluctuated (mainly higher) Lugnet score (out of 100): 82 Review # 6 Resources: -Comments left on Lugnet -Building instructions and Set inventory from Peeron The Thoughts of the scintillating Norro: ...in under a word per brick... In my mind this set always promised a lot and delivered very little. I was incredibly excited upon the return of forestmen and now, with the option of brown trees, the sky seemed the limit. Then they released this as the 'big set' and with a hefty price tag to boot. It looks (and is) jumbled, like a team of designers trying to different things cooperated very poorly and then at the very end of the design process someone said 'and stick it on this new base, that's the selling point...' All my complaining aside this is one of the best ever spare parts sets, featuring 12 brown corner wall pieces, a lot of foliage, some new(and decent figs) and a rather neat base plate. It also had the added attraction of an interesting looking, rather vulnerable cart foolishly passing through bandit country. But unfortunately this is also one of those sets where lego let themselves down continuity wise. The knights are two dragon knights (by this time obsolete) and one is holding a black knight shield (sacrilege to an ardent fan like myself). All in all I would be a lot more positive if I could pick up several cheap copies today... Guest Minifig Comments: No, I can't explain it either. That is me standing next to the catapult apparently about to fire on my own fellow knight from the safety of the woodsmen's "fortress". What am I thinking? I must have been lured into believing this wasn't a hideout by the obvious nature of the stables/buildings and the corniness of the falling tree.... Nice ladder catapult design though, very original, if you can say that about a catapult in a lego set... It's So Great I Must Have It Now: -On Bricklink -Or some non-lego specific site no one has ever heard of... but I doubt you'll find it for under 150% of its original price... God Bless, Nathan
  13. Thanks. BTW your summary was nice and succinct without leaving anything out! I should lear from you! God Bless, Nathan
  14. Don't even make that comparison X-D. Mr. Phes is more the expert there... this set is so valued by collectors it is very costly on bricklink so I would probably recommend ebay (although if you watch BL long enough some good deals normally surface). It would be nice, but I just don't have the time to sort through and rebuild this set... I'm working on a pretty imprssive MOC (if I do say so myself) at the moment... God Bless, Nathan
  15. They were all terrible (my own humble opinion ;-) ) and brought the line down. I went for Tygurah because you can salvage 3 useable pieces in that unique orange from him (and throw the rest in the 'useless parts bin'). God Bless, Nathan
  16. This set is well worth getting. I normally buy sets as cheap as possible, but for this one I got a MIB one and was delighted! God Bless, Nathan
  17. I own all the sets I'm reviewing (to begin with) but don't have time to rebuild them (I'm more of a MOCer ;-) ). Your assesment is correct, although I think this set may have been great had it been done in 6 wide... Perhaps I'll try one someday but it isn't really my normal style. God Bless, Nathan
  18. An excellent lego example! Thanks for posting the link. God Bless, Nathan
  19. No, it is very old and not of high enough standard to be worth showing about... God Bless, Nathan
  20. Good reveiew. I really enjoyed your comic! God Bless, Nathan
  21. Hey and welcome! Castles are always the most memorable ;-) God Bless, Nathan
  22. It's on the list! All my top ten sets would be rated 10 out of 10, along with a few more that I don't have room for in the top 10. Is that as confusing as the Q? God Bless, Nathan
  23. A cog is .... Couldn't have said it better myself! Thanks. God Bless, Nathan
  24. I thought the North American name may be forieng to most people. I will standardize on it, and include it in future titles as you suggest.... Personally I use different versions of names for different sets (probably down to moving a lot and wherever I bought it stuck) so am perpetually confused ;-) Thanks and God Bless, Nathan
  25. It seemed like a rather obscure set to chose as a first review (leaving out my personal fascination with it) so the subtitle refers to the set... God Bless, Nathan
