The parts have not changed. I believe the main reason might be because the parts are sourced from different countries, and the molds from those locations are NOT identical. There are many parts that come in many 'versions'. The first time I noticed that was last August 2013 with part 48989, which is fairly recent. I started a similar thread back then, but only got one answer ... http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=86124

It did it for me as well. The missing parts seem to be the 12 shock absorbers. Most likely they were not aligned properly when first inserted in the model. LDD is rather finicky with shock absorbers and LAs.

Have you bought any of the 2014 Sets?
DrJB replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
agreed ... the other factor might be that lego is typically (for me) a winter hobby ... summer is too nice to spend indoors. Will see what happens in the coming months. -
It might be a combination of the recent technic sets (that I do not find particularly appealing, anymore) and possibly other busy life events, but I'm experiencing some withdrawal lately. Sure hope it won't last long, and I've even slowed down dramatically on posting ... What's the LONGEST you've stayed away from this hobby? Do you always come back in full force ... or is it the typical loss-of-interest after 2 years, as with most other hobbies?

I might be going through a second 'dark age' ... but somehow none of the new sets appears that appealing. Not to be negative, but somehow most sets are already deja-vu ... Though, I did get some of the new snowmobile parts directly from TLG. -
Not me (at least not yet) ... I was a bit disappointed that the 1H sets were not available in the US (until late) ... and now, the 'waow' factor is gone ... that white airplane and the wheel loader do not look that appealing anymore. I may buy the UCS Tumbler though. When is it coming out? I hope we do not see a 41999 remake (people stocking them for late resale).

Yes, there is a newer one, though it came out many many years ago 8485-1 -
We have many members from the Netherlands on here ... and I just saw the arrival of the first hearses on the news. Very 'moving' moment. Just wanted to express my sympathy/condolences to those who lost loved ones.

While it's true that the set was sold with an AC/AC transformer, using an AC/DC transformer won't do any harm. The second stage (low voltage) takes the 12 V AC and converts it to 9V DC via a rectifier (diode bridge) then a capacitor/zener to filter out the ripple. If you feed a DC voltage instead (from an AC/DC transformer), that DC output will simply gets regulated/stabilized further when it goes through the rectifier/filter stage. So, yes, you can use an AC/DC transformer instead of an AC/AC ... but the opposite is not possible.

42009 Owners ... Speak Up!
DrJB replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Fully agree that it's a nice set ... but once you've seen/built/had the prior cranes (all in yellow), the set seems a bit boring (novelty score is rather low) ... especially to those of us who've been with lego for a while, and refuse to grow-up/move-on.
