  1. Go to bricklink and check 'price info'.
  2. If one starts with 2 copies of 42009, and assuming one has all the PFs he needs for this project, what are the parts one still needs to get from BL? I know there is a way to figure this and was wondering if anyone has already run this exercise ...
  3. The other main difference is that the matte finish is likely less prone to scratches than the smooth finish, or at least, they may not show easily.
  4. I've always wanted a Universal Building Set ... but it seems that void is filled with the Mindstorms Expansion Sets (at a very good price). Thus, I'm not sure we'll see any AFOL technic sets anytime soon ... not enough justification for them.
  5. The parts have not changed. I believe the main reason might be because the parts are sourced from different countries, and the molds from those locations are NOT identical. There are many parts that come in many 'versions'. The first time I noticed that was last August 2013 with part 48989, which is fairly recent. I started a similar thread back then, but only got one answer ... http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=86124
  6. It did it for me as well. The missing parts seem to be the 12 shock absorbers. Most likely they were not aligned properly when first inserted in the model. LDD is rather finicky with shock absorbers and LAs.
  7. You can make everyone happy ... that's the exact definition of leadership. Keep up what you're doing. Those who are interested will read/follow, those who are not, they'll move on and find something else to do. We all have different 'tastes', and that's what makes the world go around.
  8. I mis-read the title ... I thought the thread was about a picture of you, and a lego replica of yourself ...
  9. Amazing those years where TLG was still trying to 'find/identify' itself ... Cars from that era do not look like lego at all.
  10. agreed ... the other factor might be that lego is typically (for me) a winter hobby ... summer is too nice to spend indoors. Will see what happens in the coming months.
  11. agreed ... but I'm mostly into technic ... so, if any of the mods can move this thread, by all means.
  12. It might be a combination of the recent technic sets (that I do not find particularly appealing, anymore) and possibly other busy life events, but I'm experiencing some withdrawal lately. Sure hope it won't last long, and I've even slowed down dramatically on posting ... What's the LONGEST you've stayed away from this hobby? Do you always come back in full force ... or is it the typical loss-of-interest after 2 years, as with most other hobbies?
  13. I might be going through a second 'dark age' ... but somehow none of the new sets appears that appealing. Not to be negative, but somehow most sets are already deja-vu ... Though, I did get some of the new snowmobile parts directly from TLG.
  14. Not me (at least not yet) ... I was a bit disappointed that the 1H sets were not available in the US (until late) ... and now, the 'waow' factor is gone ... that white airplane and the wheel loader do not look that appealing anymore. I may buy the UCS Tumbler though. When is it coming out? I hope we do not see a 41999 remake (people stocking them for late resale).
  15. Yes, there is a newer one, though it came out many many years ago 8485-1
  16. Not sure many on here realize this but, since the introduction of the new differential, technic frames (5x7 and 5x11), and cardan coupler, all vehicle have now an odd stud width (11,13,15,17 ... ) etc. Even widths (12, as in this thread) might be a bit difficult to achieve.
  17. Mahjqa is also credited with causing the 2L rubber connector's price to reach unprecedented highs ... :)
  18. We have many members from the Netherlands on here ... and I just saw the arrival of the first hearses on the news. Very 'moving' moment. Just wanted to express my sympathy/condolences to those who lost loved ones.
  19. You're right ... but I was not asking 'why' the tire behaved in such a way, I was simply proposing a fix (foam filler) to make it look 'ballooned'.
  20. On the computer generated pictures, the tires are 'bigger' at the center (as they should be). On actual pictures from comicon however, they seem to 'shrink' in the middle, as if from not a good molding process. I'm sure one can get the 'balloon' effect by filling them with foam ...
  21. While it's true that the set was sold with an AC/AC transformer, using an AC/DC transformer won't do any harm. The second stage (low voltage) takes the 12 V AC and converts it to 9V DC via a rectifier (diode bridge) then a capacitor/zener to filter out the ripple. If you feed a DC voltage instead (from an AC/DC transformer), that DC output will simply gets regulated/stabilized further when it goes through the rectifier/filter stage. So, yes, you can use an AC/DC transformer instead of an AC/AC ... but the opposite is not possible.
  22. Check this out, rather neat ... reminds me of a circus seal balancing on a ball ... as in many eons ago.
  23. Fully agree that it's a nice set ... but once you've seen/built/had the prior cranes (all in yellow), the set seems a bit boring (novelty score is rather low) ... especially to those of us who've been with lego for a while, and refuse to grow-up/move-on.
  24. As much as I like the design/idea (they seem to be inspired by Mahjqa rubber tracks), I call it a 'crime' to subject such fragile plastic parts to the harsh gravel/sand. Plastic always looses the battle against such environment but, then again ... I tend to be very 'protective' of my lego parts.
