4954 has been discontinued as you may know. I don't understand why LEGO does this with products such as this. This type of product doesn't go out of style the way other LEGO products do. A house will always be a house. I can understand lines like Harry Potter, Sponge Bob etc. The 4956 House is still available, but most collectors can build that with parts from their own inventory. The 4954 has tons of tan bricks and black roof pieces which are expensive on eBay and Bricklink. I cannot understand the thinking that goes on behind the decision as to when a certain product should be discontinued. The product has only been out since 2007. If I had known I would have bought off SAH for 69.95 when they had them. Now the only thing left is the price jackers on eBay getting $140.00 for it.

Lego collectors with children in the house
Badsneaker replied to Barbaros's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This a great discussion. I have 3 kids, one boy (12) 2 girls (6 and 10) My son could care less about LEGO, my girls love them. My son has been receiving LEGO sets for Christmas since he was around 8. Arctic sets, Harry Potter, and Star Wars. I ended up putting them all together for him. I kept all my LEGO put away until the kids were what I considered old enough to use them properly. This is when I started collecting again. I do have some basic rules when they play with the LEGO. 1. Do not take apart anything I make or am working on. 2. Don't open bags or boxes that are sealed. 3. Pick up any LEGO that ends up on the floor. 4. No breaking or biting LEGO. Any of their friends can use them too as long as they abide by the rules also. If your kids are old enough to abide by these simple rules, let them have fun! -
Great review! I picked this set up last week. Great deal for 10 bucks. I may pick up a few more just to have the chassis, mudgauards etc to build other vehicles with. I did however swap the side plates "with door rail" for these: It gives the truck a more "off road" look to it. I also stuck one behind the front license plate to give the vehicle a brush guard.

Why are the boxes different?
Badsneaker replied to ???theriddler???'s topic in General LEGO Discussion
I noticed this also when I received the 7992 Container Stacker last week. No piece count or name of product on the box and I got it from SAH (U.S.) -
Do you ever get builders remorse? I have made (3) 8 wide trucks for my city based on the 7998 heavy hauler and 7900 heavy loader. While I like both of these trucks, the ones I made now seem too large. I'm thinking of redoing them in 6 wide. I made a 6 wide Coca Cola and really like the size of it. It fits well in the city and looks good next to the heavy hauler as well as 4 wide cars. The 8 wides look OK next to the 2 LEGO trucks, but seem too large when placed next to a six wide truck. I think the 8 wides only look good as tractor trailers or other long trucks. Thoughts?

"Just another guy who builds with LEGO." HA! HA! Ralph your creations are amazing! I hope someday to build like you! I did the mod on the Cocal Cola truck, I should have a pic tonight.

Wow thats some cool building techniques! I love the yellow building and how you got the little brown barrel to sit in the water. Are those blue 6 wide arches? -

Bummer dude, I didn't get one either. I can post up the new specials which come out tomorrow. I think they change them when they run out of inventory. The Hybrid was up for 2 weeks I think. -
Thanks Gouns it scratch built but I did use the pallet truck from my 7898 Cargo train for inspiration.

Sweet LEGO related story in the newspaper
Badsneaker replied to Minifig Lecturer's topic in Community
That is a very cool story. My wife "tolerates" LEGO, but this is over the top! -
Ralph, Thanks for your input, I'm humbled to have your reply and suggestions. I do like the way you made the arches with the cheese slopes and headlight bricks on your firetruck. I do believe I have more red cheese slopes so I think I will try it. I don't care for the the way the mudguards fit on the rear either. It was the only way I could think to do it. Tonight I will try the mod and post the results. Thanks!

Here's a shot next to the Green Grocer:

That is a strange door. I have some similiar but with the square molded handle like on the red one in your pic. They came with black frames. I do see it in the link to Peeron though, red door, red frame. Weird. Maybe they ran out or made a mistake, or just don't make it red anymore. I can't imagine that though with a set so current. I would call them and see whats up. Has anyone else noticed this?

33? Your just a kid compared to us ole timers! Have a great birthday! I hope you get some LEGO!!

When building a LEGO city with trains, do you build the train around your city or design the city around the train layout? My current setup only allows my train to circle my city, not much fun for the trains although I have 4 switching tracks not being used. My current city is on a 4 x 10 table. 15 buildings including 2 train stations. I like the way the city is layed out now and don't want to change it too much, although most of the city is modular and I can move things around pretty good. Thoughts? Ideas to make the train set better without impacting the city too much?

Thanks guys appreciate the comments and criticism. I'm loading pics to Flickr, so when I have everything up, I'll post a link.

Phone only, not available online. The tank is a great deal for the piece count. The Bullet run is also a great deal at 700 pieces. -

Very nice looking UNIMOGS! I really like the one with the canvas top. Very realistic looking. Nice details especially how you did the sloped front end.

Wow! I usually hang out in trains & towns but this is simply amazing!

Thanks guys, you all helped build it. I always take all advice and suggestions seriously, and usually use them. I didn't raise the wheel arches however. I like it low. I would like to find a better Coke logo for it though.
