  1. I made this little roadster a while ago and updated a bit after seeing the Custom Garage: I changed in front of the engine between the 1st and 3rd pic, not sure which way I want to go. Hope you like!
  2. This is an amazing set at a great price. This would even go well in my city I think.
  3. Hey Aliencat.... This is amazing...and your not working at LEGO bringing these beautiful creations to us for purchase for what reason....??? Someone get these pics off to TLG please...
  4. The 4954 has all the roof tiles (almost) I would need but they are scarce here is the US. I should have gotten one at SAH when they had them. Now its eBay and they are expensive. I have found some single bricks on eBay but I think I'm just gonna stay red on the roof. Not sure yet on the main house color, I may have a line on medium blue in bulk. I'll post some pics when I get some more pieces that I need for this project.
  5. I came across this beautiful Detroit mansion a few days ago. If you have never seen check it out. I was so struck by it I have decided to build my own version ?(MOV)? of this. I have the roof done, but I have only red, not enough black and the black inverted black pieces for the dormers are hard to come by anyways. Its actually slightly wider, as I miscounted on the length! I nailed the chimney tops after oh 20 minutes. Sneaky lil %$*# used a clever 3x5 flat chimney top centered on 2x4 brick. The only way to fit on a 2x4 brick is with a 2x2 flat smooth in the center and 1x2 plates on either side. It allows you to center the 3x5 top. I'll be working on the main house section and will have removable floors and roof. My kids would kill me if if their minfigs could not "move in" to this place once its done. Heres my roof. I found the old style white windows on eBay and will be ordering some. All I have is the old style red, no white. Backside. It was hard but fun to get the railing to cut into the roof. I will work on the deck later. I wanted to get the jist of how it was made and will make mods as I go along. I have some 1x2 black flats with rails coming from Bricklink to finish the 4 bottom corners. I used the handles for now. Heres the link. http://flickr.com/photos/decojim/268639064...ectureanddesign This guy is amazing. I hope he doesn't mind me using this for inspiration. Its definitely doable, and figuring out how he did it is challenging too.
  6. This looks doable, but looking at LEGO.COM maybe I should invest in 9V since most of the speed regulators and motors are half price now. Or maybe I should just wait. What is in store for us with the updated trains? Anyone have any sneak pics or info as to what TLG is coming out with for trains?
  7. Has anyone done any converting 9V locos into R/C? Reason I ask is I have R/C trains not 9V. I do not want to invest in the tracks, regulators etc to run 9V. I do however wish to have cool locos like the Santa Fe and would like to run them on my R/C track.
  8. It is in the box, here is the link: http://boston.craigslist.org/nwb/tag/858328379.html
  9. Beautiful stuff my friend, you are very talented. It never ceases to amaze me when I see the talent on this board! I think if everyone pooled their resources and imaginations together, we could give TLG a run for their money!
  10. Is anyone interested in the 2150 train station? There is one on my local Craigslist for $100. This person had this listed last year and still hasn't sold it. I bet he would come down on the price. I was thinking of picking it up myself, but looking at the instructions on PICSL I think I will build my own version. I think I have all the pieces except for the 33 degree black slopes. Let me know I can send the link or just look it up on Craigslist NH. No its not me trying to sell it. When I sell LEGO, its on eBay. It appears to be in box with instructions.
  11. Thanks for everyones input on this. I may give it a try. I am thinking if you want something special with a lot of specialty pieces, this may be the way to go. I've ordered tons off PAB, and it works great. Shipments to the US are fast and cheap. They don't have everything though. I also order a lot from eBay and Bricklink. My thinking is if I want to build a great looking house, with lots of non ordinary pieces LDD may be the way to go. I think by the time I source everything I need from eBay, Bricklink and PAB, it may end up being less $$$ on LDD. You can't find it all on one place, eBay, Bricklink or PAB. I usually end up buying from all 3 to get a project done.
  12. Was he happy? Did it come with printed instructions?
  13. I think it may depend on what LEGO has in stock. I have had some projects say a certain brick was not available for purchase.
  14. Well I've gone through the whole process except for the purchase. After you finish you have the option to price your model, then purchase it, but I have never purchased anything yet.
  15. Has anyone here actually built something on LDD and purchased/received their creation? Was curious as to how it went and if it was worth the money.
  16. They have some on the LEGO US website under "play".
  17. Thanks everyone, the gear rack is what I need, found some on Bricklink. I had some with my original Technic farm tractor, but have few if any from that set left. Wish I'd realized then how handy they would be 25 years later!!
  18. Ah Technic 850 is what I need. The rack and pinion design is what I'm after. Thanks! That boatlock is crazy!
  19. The scissor type may do, but I'm limited on space. The gear type is what I need.
  20. For the life of me I cannot remember to how make a simple manual vertical lift. Nothing fancy. Needs to go up and down. Kind of like an elevator, with a manual crank. Can someone point me in the right direction to get starters?
  21. This a great looking home. Detailed and well thought out. An opening skylight on of the roofslopes would be cool, but as a mountain home, may not be a good idea if you see a lot of snow! It makes me think of the beach house also, which is good because that set is the pefect base set to build your own design. A great bargain too at 30USD you get nice windows, doors, green base plates, and a good amount of black roof pieces. It would easily cost that to buy all the pieces separately. I may use a similiar design in my own City if you don't mind.
  22. This is a really cool collection! I had some of these when I was a kid, but wow this is a massive collection. If I had something like that, my wife would have me living in the shed with all those LEGO!!
  23. Thanks VBBN and everyone else. I have removed some vehicles for the pics to clean it up a little. Tonight I will get a few shots with some more cars and people doing business in the city! And thanks to everyone here and their awesome creations for the inspiration I get. Who remembers the days before the internet when all we had for inspiration was our imagination and the back of the LEGO box??
  24. Thanks Legotrainfan, I too like the old style grey roadplates. Most of them I've had since I was a kid. I removed a lot of cars and people for the photos to make it look uncluttered. Oh and there is nothing wrong with living in a train!
  25. Suggestions always taken, usually put to good use! The gas station was kind of strange building, I had one of those weird shaped thick green bases which I used for the roof. On the curved section I used a piece of that flexible black pole that comes with the Hobby Train to hold the Octan sign and follow the curve of the roof. Thanks!
