The whole scene is great - but the statues are just fantastic.

Sorry - I just built this by a lengthy process of trial and error. No plans exist or i would gladly share them. The model is made up of several 'modules' - the central module comprises the inner curved wall (modified from original lego set), the spiral ramp, the upper area (where the statue of Helm is) and the front wall of the cloister area. Perhaps if i posted some pictures of this 'module' (from various angles) on Flickr it would help you?

That 'shading' is just the reflection from a wall of shiny new DBG bricks.....the result of poor photography rather than painting.

Yes. Boromir's hair (my boromir is nolonger ginger). Head is just from a Rohan soldier (Uruk hai army set).

Gamling's legs are just Eomer's. The torso is 973pb691c01 (kingdoms dragon knight scale mail) - but I swapped in dark red arms and flesh hands. Nothing rare.. Keep meaning to get some more pictures on Flickr to show how some things liked the ramp etc were done.

Slightly off topic..but might be of interest to others in the USA....I picked up lego LOTR for the Xbox360 yesterday at GameStop for just $30. Seemed like a good deal for a brand new game...

Medusheld, the Golden Hall of King Theoden

Fantastic MOC. Like a lot of others I've thought about tackling this. Got hung up thinking how to handle all the horses heads in the architectural design. So I'm really impressed how you dealt with that. -
I think they must be glued on. Seriously.

CCCX Avalanche at Deadman's Gorge
Eurolock replied to Mark of Falworth's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Brilliant as usual. I always think of avalanche as referring to snow though I guess it can refer to rocks too.. -
I saw the dark green 1x2 plates as fallen leaves from the tree..........Could be wrong though.

I used about 90% of the parts from a second set (as this was more cost effective than getting everything from bricklink). The pick-a-brick selection at my local Lego store helped a lot too as I was able to get LBG 2x1, 3x1, 4x1 and 2x4 bricks and DBG 1x3, 1x4, 1x1, 2x4 and 2x6 bricks which helped a lot. I will post some more pictures that show the various key parts of the integration with the official set soon since a few people have expressed interest. I'm really glad so many people like it.

Excellent build of an iconic scene. Love the big tree.

I can certainly take some more pictures that show the various parts of the build - though I might not get a chance until the weekend. I think the key parts are the spiral ramp that leads up from the front gate and the 'floor' that fits inside the curved inner wall of the original set. These were the key challenges in integrating the official set into a larger scale MOC. And thanks again for all the generous comments everyone.

I love the angle that the house is set at....and the wooden support structure. Makes me think about the beacons from ROTK.

Loads to admire here. The rabble of orcs is captured so well....and the general sense of destruction with all the debris and damage is fantastic.

Those colored leaves just make the whole thing 'pop'. I really like the little bridge too...the way the plates follow the curve of the arch looks great.

Thanks for all the very generous comments guys. I've deliberately avoided working out how much it cost to build. I got a second helm's deep (cheap) and used about 90% of that doubling the height of the tower, extending the causeway, raising the rock base etc. I also used about 8 pick-a-brick cups of Lbg and dbg bricks. But inevitably multiple bricklink orders were required for loads of arches, plates and especially dbg slope bricks. Overall it was probably about $400-500.

for the people, freedom and honor! Castle Diorama
Eurolock replied to markus1984's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This is brilliant. Loads of things to admire but I think the damage to the walls is particularly well executed. -
Apologies again for the duplicate thread. I think someone else posted another new thread at the exact same time. Can't figure out how to delete the duplicate,

008 by Eurolock, on Flickr 009 by Eurolock, on Flickr I posted a few pics of this before the great crash of 2012. Thought I would post it again in a thread of its own to get some feedback (this is my first attempt at castle). What I was trying to do was expand the official set so that it was a much more complete representation of Helms deep (comparable to the Weta polystone environment). The aim was to keep the general scale (as defined by the front gate) and design aesthetic. I also wanted all the major areas seen in the movie to be represented (interior of the keep, back stairs, glittering caves etc) This rear shot shows the interior of the keep and the caves beneath 001 by Eurolock, on Flickr The caves are connected by a passageway to the front area of the fortress as depicted in the movie 003 by Eurolock, on Flickr This shot shows Eomer on the back stairs. The stairs actually work as a sort of 'ball-track' play feature as a boulder can be rolled through the back gate and will follow the winding path of the stairs knocking down any uruk hai in its path. This is a nod to an event in the book where a great boulder is cast down upon the uruk-hai as they attempt to take the rear gate. 002 by Eurolock, on Flickr This shot shows Eomer on the walkway that connects the inner and outer walls. I changed the original model here so that the walkway enters the inner door through a doorway as shown during Aragorn's retreat to the keep. You can also make out the entrance to the passageway through to the caves. 005 by Eurolock, on Flickr Aerial shot. I had a lot of trouble with the spiral ramp that leads up from the front gate to the area in front of the keep. 011 by Eurolock, on Flickr Gamling in the caves. The whole set-up is modular and a section of the caves can be removed for separate play. The lack of roof was necessary for access. 016 by Eurolock, on Flickr 015 by Eurolock, on Flickr The battle in full swing....If only I had as many Uruks as Deathleech... Helm's deep by Eurolock, on Flickr Errm...don't know how I managed to post the same new thread twice. Sorry.

Duplicate post. Please ignore (or delete if you happen to have those powers). Pictures are in the other thread with the not surprisingly identical title.

I see you have some Eomer body Lego store Uruks in your line-up....
