Yeah that was the one that really rankled me too. To me it speaks to the obsessions that so many people who are transphobic have with how they must precisely define and pigeon-hole people, when it’s simply ✨none-of-their-business✨. There are a million and one reasons, or sets of circumstances why someone might, or might not, follow certain routes surgically, hormonally, or otherwise - and simply wanting or needing details on this, in order to ‘categorise’ people or ‘justify’ what to call them is pretty offensive.

One of my first sets was the Lego zoo ( 258 ) in 1980 I think - looking back at it now, it’s both so blocky and such a limited palette. It’s a whole world away. But at the time I was amazed by the brick built animals and having some slope bricks!

Respect and kudos to my trans pals on here trying to field this stuff with grace and patience that I don’t have. The fact that I don’t have to deal with being misgendered or being asked to justify and prove who/what/why I am, is how I know that I have some privilege. But, as a gay man growing up in the U.K. in the 80s, all of this stuff is startlingly familiar. To those apparently bewildered that their comments, questions, or bizarre logical leaps are being met with some annoyance or apparent defensiveness - maybe ask yourself why that is rather than keep digging? And, seriously, if you *don't* understand why a queer person might be defensive or tired of dealing with the same old sh*t - maybe go read something, rather than treat people on this forum as your own personal gay Google. Isn’t it pretty common for ‘desirable’ pieces not to be available straight away (to encourage folks to buy the sets instead)? Could well be that this is just a delayed availability situation for the new sets ...

Amen to all of this. I would like to buy all of the LGBTQ+ folks and allies on these threads a very large stiff drink. The patience and restraint shown by many people here against an onslaught of ignorance or politely dressed-up bigotry is truly amazing. I’ve retrained from posting a lot because I am trying not to rise to the bait or engage emotionally, but it is F£@&%^* EXHAUSTING.

Fun fact - there’s a large toy chain in the U.K. that doesn’t carry Lego HP line because it conflicts with the owners’ beliefs. Yeah, that was a nice touch, Robyn Loot, right? Given that Lego sets were so dominated by male minifigs for so many years, I’m pretty sure my Lego City is a gay resort 🤷🏽‍♂️
