I think in reality there are precious few with a broad appeal, and as previously suggested - some of the best known are inappropriate and never going to happen. That probably impacts others, for example I think a 'Charlie Chaplin' minifig head might be unlikely to be made as it has *that* moustache. Some others suggested are already almost-made or possible-to-make with CMF parts - like Marilyn and Elvis. So, for me, the list is probably as short as : Einstein, Napoleon, some generic US pioneers and an Elizabethan monarch or two... Maybe Ghengis Khan and a Terracotta soldier too.

yeah ... I'm changing my mind a bit on this one. LOVE some of them, but the mix is a bit strange. The three 'bots all have great accessories/pieces (beehive!), but I'd so rather see them as non robot figures. Maybe in a future series we'll get reused parts sans-'bot? My biggest gripe would be the inclusion of the three film 'stars' (Emmett, Business, and Wildstyle) as it's a bit out of context for a CMF series. So that makes the series half one thing, half the other. I get that they are including some other characters in other sets, which is clever marketing, of course ... but for the record I'm mostly loving the interpretation of 'New-again' re-imaginings.

... Of course there's a likelihood that Nightwing has two faces, so maybe folks shouldn't be too quick to judge that one pic.

REVIEW: 8909 LEGO Collectable Minifigures- Team GB
williejm replied to TrumpetKing's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah - the interesting thing for feeling out these guys is that all 9 have 4 identical parts (head, legs, torso, medal) and it's down to differentiating hairpieces, hats and accessories. That said - gymnast one of the easiest to feel because of extra blocks, equestrian's squidgy hat/hair piece a close second.- 12 replies

I'm no sports fan but I agree they are a cracking wee set. A bit of a challenge for the in-store packet-feeler too! I ended up sending three sets to a friend in Australia to share the love.- 12 replies

Daily Mail Promo offer this weekend!
williejm replied to Lobot's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Interesting partnership for Lego - after the furore over The Sun & Page 3, jumping into bed with the bigoted, racist, reactionary Daily Mail is a frying pan > fire situation. It would take more than a free Gandalf to get me to buy that newspaper ... -

Yeti, welder & scientist look awesome. The robot is a bit, er, well - eyelashes? And strategically-placed breast dials? -

WH Smith prices better?! Not that I've seen - they seem artificially high then have complicated discount 'offers'. So you can bag a bargain, but really need to be lucky and know what you're doing. I'd suggest either of the Lego brand stores in one of the Westfield Shopping Centres. Worth considering there are other stores with large Lego sections. Some, like John Lewis, are pretty good price wise, others are better for special offers and older sets that Lego store may no longer have. Westfield Stratford has a Lego store, John Lewis, WH Smith and an independent toy shop with a large Lego section. John Lewis on Oxford Street has a massive Lego section too. Those would be my suggestions.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion
williejm replied to muscleman's topic in Special LEGO Themes
... surely the most likely lower body part for a Medusa figure in the CMF line would be a recolour of the S6 Genie's almost-snake-like body ? -
This set is the trickiest to feel for so far, but this is my method: find the hairpiece first. Sometimes that's enough, the swimmer's cap, rider's squishy hat, boxer's helmet, and runner's spiky hair are quite identifiable. if you get an indescernible hairpiece - then check for accessories. Archer's bow, Tennis racket, weight lifter barbels ... process of elimination really, but once you get a feel for the feel, it's a doddle.
