Review: 2113 Zane

I bought another one of these game sets. Go ahead and despise me The reason: This is the cheapest way to get Zane... especially when I blew my Christmas budget on gifts for others... Name: Zane Set Number: 2113 Pieces: 19 Price: $12.99 CAD Ages: 6-14 Minifigs: 1 Theme: Ninjago Year of Release: 2011 The Package Parts of Interest The shuriken seems to be made of the soft plastic like the barb wire piece The Minifig This set is the cheapest way to get Zane; however, it's also made in Chinese plastic. The Weapons The Top Printed top. The Cards Posted a large scan for better view. Extra Pieces The contents of this set is exactly the same as Set 2257 that I reviewed previously. However, the price is a LITTLE more reasonable, simply because this is the cheapest set that Zane could be obtained in. Ratings: Playability: 6/10 Playability is passable, the top spins as it's supposed to; however, it gets mundane after a while. Design: 7/10 The tops are a smart idea; however, the 'function' of the tops are stupid; you have to spin them by hand. As I mentioned before, I thought TLG had created some sort of mechanism to allow for spinning. Price: 4/10 At $13 for 19 pieces... Minifigures: 9/10 The minifigures in this set are so awesome, a HUGE improvement on the Ninjas. The only catch: Chinese plastic. Parts: 8/10 Love the shuriken Total: 7/10 This set is passable; it was definitely saved by the minifigs and accessories. ~tin7_creations

I got 2 more sets today; pre-Christmas rushed has cleared out my local TRU of all the other Ninjago sets however; I may have to wait until a later date to buy more. This is the smallest and cheapest Ninjago set; and just from the box art, I can already tell that it's more worthwhile to purchase than the game sets. Name: Ninja Training Outpost Set Number: 2516 Pieces: 45 Price: $6.99 CAD Ages: 6-12 Minifigs: 1 Theme: Ninjago Year of Release: 2011 The Box Front Back The Contents The Instruction Manual Random Page Parts List The Minifig This minifig is NOT Chinese plastic. So I'm assuming that none of the set minifigs are Chinese plastic, only the game set ones. The Accessories This seems to be a new hilt for the katana, squarish with concave sides. The Target The Weapons Rack Extra Pieces There's nothing special about this set; no new pieces or anything. But it proves that only the game set minifigs are made with Chinese plastic. Ratings: Playability: 6/10 Playability is passable, having the Ninjas do target practice; I've never find much use for it though. Design: 8/10 I really like the weapons rack; it has the Japanese architecture style to it. Price: 8/10 At $7 for 45 pieces, very reasonable. Minifigures: 10/10 The minifigure in this set are the normal TLG ABS. WIN! Parts: 6/10 No new parts. But the katana has a different hilt. Total: 8/10 Simple, yet effective. ~tin7_creations

Imagine if the Battle of Hogwarts set turns out to be the Death Star of the Harry Potter theme... it will be a monster!!! I can already check off the number of figs that will make this set significant: all the Weasleys minus Charlie; The 4 head of houses plus Headmaster Snape; The entire Order; Most of the main Death Eaters (Carrows, Dolohov, Bellatrix, Malfoy Family, Rowle, Yaxley, etc.); so many students! Lavender Brown, Dean Thomas, Patil Twins, NEW NEVILLE!! And all the creatures: GIANTS! Acromantulas! Nagini! TLG will need to include almost 30 figs in order to make this set anything like a "battle". I'm imagining something very, very costly; like in the $399.99 range...

This is awesome! I love how you did the tongue and grin on the outside; as well as how you utilized the dice piece! The exterior of the store itself definitely has my vote!

Although I have been creating minifigures since I was 7, the year 2010 was the beginning of tin7 creations! Throughout the year I have worked on numerous different themes that interest me, focusing mostly on anime characters early on in 2010, and minifigures from different blockbuster movies during the later part of the year. Here are some of the highlights: Anime (February – May 2010): The first minifigure I made in 2010 was Naruto from the hit anime series of the same name. Following Naruto, I went into anime frenzy and began work on one of the most elaborate collection in my LEGO minifigure series to date. Throughout the short years that I have worked on custom minifigures, I’ve received numerous compliments on my sculpt work; and to showcase all the techniques I’ve acquired during that period, I created the first ever Pokemon custom LEGO piece, made entirely out of Sculpey that can fit perfectly with actual LEGO pieces. Besides making Pokemon custom LEGO pieces, I also began to create the characters from the series, and for the first time, creating a full set of decals for every single figure. Some of the highlights in this series: Here's a link to the entire series: Pokemon Of course, with my awful attention span, I cannot be expected to work on the Pokemon series completely focused. As I was working on Pokemon, I created two minifigures from the movie Clash of the Titans, and was also in constant communications with LEGO Customizer Unknown Artist Studios to create a custom sleeved-cloak for a new fig: Edward Elric. In May I went on a two month vacation to Japan, and when I returned, I began to create minifigures from many Hollywood blockbuster movies. Movies (July – December 2010): When I returned from my hiatus in July, I began to conceptualize a series of minifigures from M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender. I arranged these minifigures in a similar fashion as the official LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series. It was during this series that I began to create more intricate, more detailed decal designs. The figures were officially released in August; here are some of the highlights of the batch: Here are the links to the two series: Series #1 and Series #2 Also in progress during this period was my series based on character designs from the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. These are the film versions of their comic book counterparts, and have absolutely nothing to do with the comics. The entire Marvel line started with the X-Men minifigures. These figures were completed in early April, but I never really got around to posting them; one Marvel series led to another, and now I have a whole arsenal of Marvel characters at my command. I officially began posting this series in October, and will continue to add to it as more of the films are released. Here are the links to the 4 Series: Series #1, Series #2, Series #3, and Series #4 By mid-October, with the re-release of the very successful LEGO Harry Potter series, I began working on adding characters to the sets. With the huge amount of characters that I can bring to minifigure-life, I chose many that appeared in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, and recreating some of the significant characters that have appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I particularly like the character of Hermione (or maybe I like the actress Emma Watson…). The Harry Potter minifigures are mainly decal based, and I feel that I have finally achieved a certain level of maturity in decal creation. Here are the links to the entire series: Link to batch 2010-10-21: The Weasley Family Link to batch 2010-10-27: The Triwizard Champions Link to batch 2010-11-01: Harry Potter Minifigures by tin7 - 2010-11-01 Link to batch 2010-11-12: Order of the Phoenix Link to batch 2010-11-26: Xenophilius Lovegood and the Ministers for Magic Link to batch 2010-12-06: Harry Potter Minifigures by tin7 - 2010-12-06 Link to batch 2010-12-21: Death Eaters Toward the end of December (about 1 week ago), I made some updates to three minifigs that I made way back in 2006: Walt Disney's Aladdin. This short post details the large amount of improvements I've definitely made in a short 4 years! Prospects for 2011 I graduate in May 2011, and will leave home in June, so I fear I may not be able to work on minifigures until I settle down into post-graduate life. However, from January – June 2011, I have plans to further creations in the Marvel Studios series, adding characters as the movies are released in theaters. I also plan to create minifigures for the characters from the final Harry Potter film. In addition, I have had temptations to create Twilight in minifigure form Joking! The year 2010 was a great year for tin7 creations, my skills as both a decal designer and sculptor have improved and reached new levels of awesomeness . I’ve been creating custom minifigures since I was 7, from using paper and tape, to using Sculpey and designing my own decals. This past year, aside from Eurobricks, my creations have also appeared on a few forums and blogs (i.e. customminifig.co.uk, The Ugly Duckling at BrickLink). Plus, many people have started to add my creations as Favorites on Flickr. Many thanks to people at these sites for their support! Particular Eurobricks has aided me to new heights in my minifigure customization work, and has created a great platform for me to showcase my work, thank you to everyone here on Eurobricks, and from all the minifigures here at tin7 creations, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! All the best in 2011! Merry Christmas! I look forward to another great year here on Eurobricks! ~tin7_creations

Would it be possible for you to scan them so we can get a better view? For instance, the Pirates, and the Cars themes maybe. Just asking; you don't have to do it if you can't!

Battle for Hogwarts will be mighty expensive... considering the fact that not only will they have Hogwarts Castle; but I'm assuming that they'll need a whole slew of minifigs... It does say August 2011. So I'm assuming that we'll be seeing these by July!!

Here's my avatar! Am I too late? It's a bit small though... since I had to resize it.

Review: 2257 Spinjitzu Starter Set
tin7_creations replied to tin7_creations's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I'm not sure if the cards are randomized; since I don't plan to find out by buying another of these sets. What I'm wondering about though is: will the figs in the actual sets be the same quality as those in the battle packs? The ones in this battle pack utilize the Chinese plastic; will the actual sets be the same? I'll find out tomorrow when I buy some. -

I just found this at my local TRU, and I bought it! I will buy more ACTUAL sets tomorrow, stay tuned! Name: Spinjitzu Starter Set Set Number: 2257 Pieces: 57 Price: $24.99 CAD Ages: 6-14 Minifigs: 2 Theme: Ninjago Year of Release: 2011 The Package Front Back Part storage; very similar to an action figure Instruction Manual I posted large scans for these so people can read them. Front Back Contents There are 5 separate bags: 2 bags of cards, 2 bags of minifigs, and 1 bag of 'Battlefield' The 'Battlefield' It's huge, as you can see, it doesn't even fit into my photo box. Parts of Interest Minifigs Front I love the new Ninja, especially in blue. The Skellie (or Frakjaw as TLG calls him) is awesome too; he's got great new legs, and the armor is exquisite, as is the head print; however, the arms suck, as they are fixed at an angle... However, the quality of plastic is the same as the collectible minifigs (i.e. Chinese plastic). Back Ninja A picture of Jay the Blue Ninja without his hood; the hairpiece does not come with the set; he has this hair in the trailer for the theme, so I just added one on. TLG has heard our cries!! The leg prints finally attach to the hip! Skellie New Skellie legs! That is one single piece, does not separate. Accessories The Top Top The ONE good thing about these tops: They're printed, not stickered. Bottom There's a round plate on the bottom to aid it's spin. With fig attached The point of the 'game' is to attach a weapon to the fig, and spin the tops against each other; as the tops are spinning; you HOPE for the weapons of the figs to hitch; and knock one of the figs off the top. The fig remaining on the top wins. It's like a cheap LEGO version of Beyblade. The 'Spin' Mechanism (aka. Your Fingers) The Cards Ninja Cards I posted large scans of these so people can read them. Skellie Cards I posted large scans of these so people can read them. Card holder Card holder with card Simple; yet somehow... very effective... Extras Final Thoughts: prateek asked me why I decided to spend $25 CAD on this... Let's just say, I was ill. However, as most people on this forum probably know, I'm minifig and accessories oriented when I choose what sets to buy; and the figs and accessories in this set are superb. Plus, I really wanted to know what all the hype LEGO was creating for about these sets. I saw the actual sets at my local TRU, and I believe those are more worthwhile to purchase; I will buy 2 tomorrow!! The reason I got this set was to see how 'playable' it was, and what this game was all about; plus, I got a bad guy, and a good guy, plus 2 tops; although there's nothing I can do with them... Also, I can't believe the tops are "hand-spun", I thought that TLG would at least create some sort of mechanism to spin them with. Ratings: Playability: 6/10 Playability is passable, the two tops spin to knock down the fig like they're suppose to; however, it gets mundane after a while. Design: 7/10 The tops are a smart idea; however, the 'function' of the tops are stupid; you have to spin them by hand. As I mentioned before, I thought TLG had created some sort of mechanism to allow for spinning. Price: 2/10 At $25 for 57 pieces... you do the math... Minifigures: 9/10 The minifigures in this set are so awesome, a HUGE improvement on both the Ninjas and especially the Skellies. The only catch: Chinese plastic. Parts: 8/10 Lots of new parts, especially on the Skellie. Total: 6/10 This set is barely passable; it was definitely saved by the minifigs and accessories. I will hopefully review some ACTUAL sets tomorrow, stay tuned! ~tin7_creations -
Harry Potter Minifigures by tin7

Thank you so much for the comments! I made the head first, with the stud, then I hardened the Sculpey. After that, I sculpted the body onto the head; after finishing the body, I just pluck the head out, and voila! A hold for the stud to fit into! That's a LOT of work. I may make some of the main Professors and Ghosts in the futures (ie. Prof. Sprout, Prof. Binns, Nearly Headless Nick; but don't expect minifigs for the lesser profs. Prof. Vector) -
Hi everyone! I added some new minifigs to my Harry Potter minifigure collection! This time I made Death Eaters, however, to make the post more 'complete' I added in the official LEGO minifigs and some figs I've posted before as well. Here's the new batch for December 21, 2010. Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) Nagini (CGI) This piece was made entirely of Scupey and hand painted. The piece can fit onto the 3x4 LEGO Minifig stand, and for added playability, the head is removable, that way, Neville can chop it off when he destroys the Horcrux. Lucius Malfoy (Jason Issacs) Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter) Rodolphus Lestrange Hairpiece made of Sculpey, decals designed by me. He was never featured in the film, and descriptions of him in the books are vague, so I just created him from imagination. Rabastan Lestrange Hairpiece made of Sculpey, decals designed by me. He was never featured in the film, and descriptions of him in the books are vague, so I just created him from imagination. Peter Pettigrew (Timothy Spall) Bartemius Crouch Jr. (David Tennant) Hairpiece made of Sculpey, decals designed by me based on photographs from the film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Fenrir Greyback (Dave Legeno) Antonin Dolohov (Arben Bajraktaraj) Yaxley (Johnpaul Castrianni) The decals designed by me based on photographs from the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1. AND FINALLY... as requested by many who replied to my previous posts... Remus Lupin (David Thewlis) The decals designed by me based on photographs from the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1. The next batch will probably include more Death Eaters (some of the lesser ones): The Carrows, Thorfinn Rowle, etc. Hope everyone enjoys this new post! Here's a series of minifigs that I updated recently. Aladdin was the first custom minifig I ever made. I made him in 2006, followed Genie, and a very mediocre Jasmine. I decided to redesign the decals, and give Genie a new paint job. In the following photos, you can see very significant differences and improvements that I have made in just 4 years of LEGO minifig customization. Aladdin: Jasmine: Genie: Group: I believed I first posted the original minifig in 2008 when I joined Eurobricks; however, I doubt the post still exists, and if it did, the photos are probably gone from my flickr. But anyways, hope every enjoys these! ~tin7_creations

Lord Voldemort, you just gotta love that face. and Ginny of course! -
Here's the fourth installment for my Marvel Cinematic Universe Collectible Minifigure Series! I have posted some of the minifigs in this installment before (earlier this year). Everything else was either made by me or modified LEGO pieces. Alright, let us begin; the fourth part in my Marvel Cinematic Universe Collectible Minifigure Series! Movies from this installment include: X-Men (2000), X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). 37 - Sabretooth (Tyler Mane) 38 - Mystique (Rebecca Romijn) 39 - Callisto (Dania Ramirez) 40 - Multiple Man (Eric Dane) 41 - Juggernaut (Vinnie Jones) 42 - Gambit (Taylor Kitsch) 43 - Colossus (Daniel Cudmore) 44 - Shadowcat (Ellen Page) 45 - Angel (Ben Foster) Here's the entire teams of LEGO X-Men and LEGO Brotherhood that I have made so far, but until new movies (X-Men: First Class in 2011, and The Wolverin in 2012) are released, I doubt I'll make anymore additions to my X-Men series. Hope everyone enjoyed this new post! Comments appreciated! Excelsior! ~tin7 Link to Series #1: Marvel Cinematic Universe Collectible Minifigure Series #1 Link to Series #2: Marvel Cinematic Universe Collectible Minifigure Series #2 Link to Series #3: Marvel Cinematic Universe Collectible Minifigure Series #3

Useful decals for Harry Potter MOCs
tin7_creations replied to tin7_creations's topic in LEGO Licensed
I would suggest the Educational Decrees and Wanted Posters should go on 2x3 tiles (1x2+2x2 tiles). Also, the Dumbledore Portrait is suppose to be huge, so I think it should be on 6x4 tiles (there are many combinations to make that). -
Here are some decals that may be useful for Harry Potter MOCs. Sirius Black Wanted Poster Albus Dumbledore Portrait Dolores Umbridge's Educational Decree Harry Potter Wanted Poster Hope I see these used in many MOCs! Enjoy, ~tin7_creations

I use Photoshop. Try making the decals in a larger size, it gives you more room to work, and you can always re-size them later. -
