Do you not see something like this under plan your visit ... And under the tickets section ... And in the FAQs ... Given the nature of the activities, it is sensible not to allow adult only groups. The ones here are really for pre-teens and possibly very young teenagers. I wouldn't want competitive adults in the child-focused play areas, or even worse, groups of adults competing against themselves ruining it for kids.

What next vintage set could be recreated by TLG ?
MAB replied to Khargeust's topic in General LEGO Discussion
When it comes to trains, we have had: 2010 Passenger train (2013 Horizon Express) 2014 High speed passenger train 2018 Passenger train 2022 Express passenger train I don't think the Metroliner really needs to come back, as it has been redone with variations again and again. Sure the colour scheme is slightly different each time, the shape is slightly different. They've been based on current electronic parts each time rather than 9V. But every four years there has been the reasonably consistent (except for HE) three piece trains, track, and bit of platform. -
I know everyone has different tastes and that it is OK if you don't like certain themes. I'd be very surprised if anyone loves all themes. I am just very surprised that someone can not like a single set in IDEAS, since it is not really a theme. It is an incredibly broad range of sets that have the single common factor that they were suggested and originally designed by a fan. There are licensed sets, and unlicensed. There are big sets, and small sets. There are highly detailed AFOL aimed sets, there are more child-like sets. There are play sets, there are display sets. There are minifigure scale sets and no-minifigure brick built sets. There are scale models and life-size sets.

Ah, OK. That piece has never really gone away, it just doesn't appear in that many sets. -
That worm gear actually behaves really well. When I first saw it I wondered if there might be too much friction to move as fast as that but that is obviously not the case.

What monorail track did they bring back? I cannot see anything in that set that is monorail although I haven't built or even seen the set in real life so could have missed something. Even if they don't have the same colours available as before, if they wanted to do a modern take on older Space themes I imagine they could just use a current close match. Of course, some people would complain that they don't match the colours of their childhood exactly but I would imagine a cool looking space ship or vehicle would still sell. If they are changing the designs and part palette to more modern parts, a colour change may not be that big a deal to everyone even if it is to some. -
Are you a fan of LEGO, or a fan of a specific theme only? Given the huge range of themes, styles and size, I find it amazing that anyone into LEGO in general does not like any of the IDEAS sets. Whereas it is understandable if someone only like one theme and doesn't buy sets outside of that theme.

The duckling torso is from Sudsy Simon from Stuntz. The vitruvian man torso is BAM only so far (in store and online).

Are these wings any more single purpose than these? I prefer the hard plastic, not out of being able to reuse them but because they last longer, and don't crack or curl. The printed transparent fairy wings show that these can still appear as light and fragile on the minifigure even though in reality they are a very durable piece.

Would older retire Modular Buildings be remade?
MAB replied to Lion King's topic in Special LEGO Themes
They have done since Corner Cafe retired and starting increasing in price. In a way, they have already done remakes of Cafe Corner in the sense that they have done another hotel and they have done multiple other eateries. A street with multiple hotels and eateries doesn't look so bad as it is realistic. Yet if they do a new Fire Station or Town Hall it would look odd for those that already have the originals. If a new collector doesn't have Cafe Corner (or any other missing modular) in their collection, does it matter? Their street would still look good and only they and other LEGO collectors know they are missing one (or more) from the collection. If LEGO did a very close but updated version of Cafe Corner then new collectors would still be missing the original version, and they and other LEGO collectors would know they are still missing the original. The new and slightly different version doesn't complete their collection. Unless they re-release an exact copy of the old, their collection is incomplete. Exact or close copies are also a turn off for existing collectors - do they buy it and have two buildings look very similar or do they skip it and no longer have a complete collection themselves? And if they skip that one why bother collecting future ones if they are OK but not exciting especially if you no longer have a complete collection that 'needs' to be kept complete. This is what happened to me with CMF. I was complete up to S15, but I got bored with slightly different repeats and decided not to buy all of them any more. Once I was no longer complete there was less of a need to buy any figures unless I really liked them whereas in the past I would have got them just to remain complete. I now buy maybe 1-2 figures per series. I also realised as I wasn't complete there was no point in keeping past figures that were not so interesting that I was only keeping to be complete in the past. So I sold off probably 2/3 of my collection. I think that is a danger with Modulars too, if they start repeating buildings that existing collectors do not need. It is a different timescale and cost, new designs coming around only once per year but each is a large price. If I still had a Fire Brigade (I sold mine) and they brought out another one for $300, I'd skip it as I wouldn't need two. Whereas if they did a hospital or something new to both old and new collectors, both are happy with that year's set. -

Do you have an accessibility setting turned on? -
The old school Crusaders / Lion Knights look great. I sold my old ones off when prices went silly and bought new torsos. Rather than use the new printed legs that don't look so good when posed, I've gone with plain blue legs (keeping blue arms on the torsos), black (with black arms) and the same with white, reddish brown and DBG and LBG. The red torsos then look like tabards over other clothes. It is a good way to build up units within a faction in addition to different helmets and weapons. I was never really a fan of the different colours for hips and legs even though they are the classic design, so went for purely plain legs instead. I'd go for "with boots" prints if they become more common / cheap.

You will have to try it and see, as there are so many variables that will depend on the pose such as the angle at which the joint is set, the distribution of weight and the distance from the joint. A heavy weight directly above the joint when it is straight will have essentially no moment, whereas even a light weight 50cm from the joint in a 90 degree position could have a significant moment that puts pressure on the joint.

It is not really clear if this is meant to be a standalone design or part of the Modulars. There have been literally hundreds of custom Modulars submitted to IDEAS, and none of them have made it. A design needs something to make it stand out from being yet another Modular. I'm not a fan of the pavements/sidewalk as they don't fit with the existing Modular design, the two colour red and white and the rather blocky nature makes it look more like a basic Creator set and it is lacking lots of smaller details that Modulars and larger IDEAS sets have had recently. The brick built sign should probably be 2 bricks wider to add a red border at the start and end to make the I stand out more. It looks quite low for a Modular too. Advertising an actual brand like this is unlikely to help its chances compared to being a generic burger restaurant, and also cuts down on adding more interest through other parts of the build. For example, look at the Downtown Diner. It is a very similar design being a fast food restaurant but adds height to the build and more interest in the upper floors, including the recording studio and the boxing gym.

Would older retire Modular Buildings be remade?
MAB replied to Lion King's topic in Special LEGO Themes
In my view, no. LEGO have been creating much more detailed (inside and out) Modulars over the past half a decade or so, with a higher price point to match of course. If they want to do another fire station or cafe on a corner, then they should do a new design to modern standards and style. If they did a new restaurant or cafe on a corner that was very different to CC then they'd be fine. It can still go into a row with previous similar buildings without looking like a repeat. If they did another FB or TH then there would be more of an issue seeing as one of these is enough. It might end up with those collectors skipping that year's model. And once they skip one, they don't have a complete collection so are more likely to skip others in future. -
For Star Wars specific questions, you are best off asking in the Star Wars sub-forum.

Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
MAB replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I doubt a goat mold will need to be as expensive as some other parts as it does not have to have the tolerances of a brick with multiple attachment points. It doesn't have to have incredibly accurate tooling, so long as the anti-studs at the feet grip whatever it is standing on and the back stud works, the rest of the shape is not very important when it comes to precision. I imagine the larger problem is fitting it in to sets in a meaningful way. I'd prefer more sheep than goats. I really wonder if the demand is there. The goat is essentially a meme because it is hard to find and therefore expensive but could well be not very popular if it was widely available. -
That makes sense. After all, the name is "Fort LEGO re-do"!

I use pretty much any human head that doesn't have glasses, microphone, or any sort of inappropriate technology.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
MAB replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wouldn't that look like a fairly normal CMF series? The City type figures tend to be more represented than others, but we typically get a few space and historic characters in each. -
I cannot see them redoing a monorail giving the production costs of monorail parts.
-
I don't see the point of a few small sets. If they are going to do small sets, then they need a full range covering different characters and scenes.
-
Nothing is stopping you posting them in the relevant sub-forum. Just be clear it is someone else's design and not your own. Although if there is already a thread about the MOC on here that is not too old, just add to that saying you have built it and what you think of it.
