  1. Ninjago is so much more than ninjas. I don't watch the media, but from the toy point of view, the characters could be any group of friends. Being LEGO minifigures, play is more about their weapons and vehicles than moves they can do.
  2. It is your LEGO so you can do what you like with it. But if you show it anywhere where other people might want to use a similar design then be upfront and say you have modified parts to strengthen it or whatever you have done.
  3. Yes, Ninjago is the Classic Castle and Classic Space of the future. Possibly even bigger given its longevity. And Nexo Knights and Chima are the Ice Planet and Adventurers, less popular with nostalgic adults of the future but still sought after by kids that loved them at the time.
  4. For me that would be very disappointing. Instead of making an exclusive GWP battle pack that fits with and is pretty much necessary for a big set, they should just include those "free" figures with the set.
  5. Same here. I can't see LOTR accessory or battle packs coming when there is no LOTR theme.
  6. This is not so far off what people were making before 2012. I get 8 of the 9. But Benny as Sam? Why would there be a spaceman wearing a helmet in Castle?
  7. No doubt there are many reasons people want re-issues. Another reason is that old sets are sometimes worth serious money hence people appear to want the old set. Of course, a re-issue is not the same as the old set though, and re-issuing the set doesn't always mean it will sell well. We saw this happen with two sets reasonably recently - the Taj Mahal and Saturn V. In both cases, the secondary market price of the original was hit. Demand seemed quite high for Saturn V as it seemed to sell well and (at least in the UK) has risen again since retirement, whereas the Taj Mahal appeared to sell slowly and (again in the UK) is barely worth much more than the RRP a few years after retirement. One interpretation is that there were a quite small minority of people both wanting the Taj Mahal and willing to pay a high price for it, but probably not a large number of people willing to pay even 20% of what the original had been selling for for the reissued set. Some were willing to pay £300 but the long term demand doesn't seem to be there. Personally, I don't see the point of a replica set with a box that looks like the original with the same parts in it, if it is just going to be displayed as a sealed set. It is just a modern set and not the original and not really anything special. Whereas the original set is special, partly as it has survived so long. I'd prefer to see a used, open, original box displayed than a modern unused, sealed remake. Whereas I can understand if someone wants the experience of building the original set, although often that is not that hard to do with existing parts or very similar replacements and often doesn't really provide that much of a great building experience compared to today's sets. In that sense, they are an important part of history but probably better off remaining as history. I have probably 20 or so complete vintage sets from late 60s to early 80s. They look dated but are kind of cool as they are nice examples of what old sets used to look like and are complete with period parts that have survived for about 50 years. Building one of these out of modern parts using substitutions where necessary doesn't really have the same impact. It looks much more impressive to use modern style building techniques with modern parts, but it creates something totally different.
  8. Bricklink is 3% not 1% plus another 3-5% for PayPal depending on seller and buyer location. As the user is in the UK, listing on a promotional weekend (every 2 weeks) at ebay will mean fees of about 4% overall so better than bricklink plus paypal.
  9. If you are not already a seller on bricklink then ebay will be much faster and less hassle for similar results.
  10. Well from the aliens point of view, it is space exploration! The larger one looks considerably better, mainly due to its size. Plus it has the sound brick.
  11. Space is a bit like Castle in that it covers a very wide subject area and to survive should cover as much of that as possible, even if that means some fans opting out for a year or two. Just like Castle can cover man vs man type factions, it can also go into fantasy and cover dragons, trolls, dwarves, etc. Space is similar in that it can cover human exploration but should also cover fantasy elements such as aliens and fantasy planets. Covering exploration would be fine for a while but soon gets boring if similar but slightly different ships in the same colours year after year. I found Alien Conqust to be a fun break from other Space of the past, especially the aliens and alien ships reminiscent of1950s B-movies. Whereas other that don't like aliens can just sit it out and wait until what they like comes around again. There is a big issue that if they make only part of a genre again and again for one group of fans, then they are missing out on a large section of the market.
  12. Google lens, knowledge, search/browse at bricklink or other parts sites, ask others in this thread ...
  13. The DFB CMF had printed bases, white with their four stars. The names were not printed as claimed before, as that would mean different bases for every figure.
  14. It wasn't very clear, is this on LEGO IDEAS?
  15. I was just thinking the same thing. A heritage site for one theme and a renaissance fair in another. It would be quite fun to see minidoll figures with Black Falcon and Lion Knights torsos in a joust!
  16. I haven't used one for a few months, but it always used to be that you had to place an order for other item(s) and pay P&P unless over the £50 threshold. And no click and collect.
  17. That is similar to what I use, although I use a soft brush with a low power 'desktop' vacuum cleaner. The brush to loosen dust, the vac to remove it.
  18. The problem with blowing dust off is that it puts it into the air and it will settle again. It is better to suck it up and trap it in a filter.
  19. Is it $5 shipping or $5 picking fee for dropping under the PAB parts threshold. They label them both as a shipping fee but you have to pay the under threshold fee even if the whole order qualifies for free shipping.
  20. This can be a problem with fakes / copies. The components used to make them cheaper might not be very good quality. It is probably best to buy some decent ones if the non-LEGO ones are causing you a problem.
  21. The best way is to not let it build up in the first place. Try using a vacuum on a low setting first to get off any loose dust. If it is more greasy dust that has stuck on, then you will need to wipe it off, using cotton buds to get into hard to reach areas.
  22. If you want to do it bias free, you could just use two LEGO 6 sided dice with different coloured tiles to identify each and use base 6 as your counting system and discard throws outside of 1-20. But better to use non-LEGO dice, especially if you are using non-LEGO pens, paper, guides and rulebooks, drinking out of non-LEGO cups and so on.
  23. Are you using the right voltage batteries? Motors shouldn't smell bad when running. Gears won't help if it is the motor at fault. The motor still runs at the same speed, the gears just affect the rotational speed of anything downstream from the gear.
  24. You can use a lower voltage by using a variable resistor but that is similar to using a speed controller. What smells bad? Is it the motor itself or what it is controlling? If it is the motor then gears won't help. But if it is because whatever machine you have built is running too fast and smelling plasticky, then gears will help.
  25. The cmf are nowhere near as useful to me as I had hoped. I will probably get a couple of two of them for figures, and a few other the others to use as parts. But I won't be buying boxes now I've seen them. Is no 2, 3, 6 and 9 made to be male or female? The first face looks male and the second face looks female or vice versa. A good change if it is.
