  1. Currently it is only 945 votes, so hasn't reached 1000 yet. It is nice but without minifigures to go with it, it seems somewhat pointless. Especially when they use the character names as tags to get people to look.
  2. Nexo Knights is still officially a current theme, as it is listed on lego.com. However, the only things left seem to be the human scale mace and shield and both are discounted (at least in UK) so it should hopefully disappear completely soon. A few stores still have sets too, but again hopefully they will soon go to make room for something new.
  3. Flip the arms around and it fastens up the back.
  4. It is strange, people often complain that LEGO puts desirable and exclusive minifigures in large and expensive sets. This time, they have put in two not so desirable figures and look at what happens. It should really be the ship that sells rather than the minifigures on a set of this size. I'm glad they didn't put in half a dozen exclusive and desirable figures.
  5. I had a (UK) backdoor cart, but tried to place another order yesterday and it failed to go through.
  6. I think it has probably already burst (in Europe and US), but they are still blowing hard enough that it doesn't show. To me, LEGO has already reached its peak popularity in Europe / North America and will not grow significantly here. It would not surprise me at all if in ten years time there are less sets aimed at Western markets and more sets aimed at the Far Eastern market. Which might actually be a good thing for Western customers too.
  7. When it comes to placement, you don't need to experiment to find connection points. Instead use Pythagoras' theorem. The old A^2 + B^2 = C^2. The trick here is that if you use A and B to be the same, you are guaranteed a perfect fit. This technique was used in the tree in the Winter Toy Shop. Look at step 5. Those two studs go in positions so they are three studs apart on one axis, and one apart on the other. The the 2x4 plate comes on top three studs apart and one stud apart but twisted the other way. This works with any distances subject to the building being big enough. The offset is twice the angle of the line made by the studs. The larger the building, the more possible angles you have.
  8. And the LBG levers. They are currently rather expensive on BL.
  9. I think it looks fantastic, but not at that price. LEGO can get away with the UCS MF and a decent set of minifigures for £650. But not this time. Two minifigures, no interior, just detailed plates on a frame. Very nice detailed plates on a frame, but still. That isn't a £650 set in my view.
  10. That's funny. The Simpsons S2 is often derided as the worst CMF series ever, yet as it stands it is going through in second place!
  11. That looks fantastic. Has anyone built one "in real life"? I started costing it out, but even just the number / cost of blue jumpers and 1x1 tiles makes it look a bit prohibitive.
  12. This was probably an error. A lot of parts across multiple older themes from 2011-15 were added and were available for order. However, many of them have now become unavailable, and orders for the parts cancelled - if you managed to get one in.
  13. Series 12, but I'll vote for Series 2 just to make sure it gets second place!
  14. LEGO are almost doing the opposite. They are expanding OUTSIDE of their traditional area (Europe and North America), but not expanding much inside. I imagine this is partially due to LEGO fatigue inside, they have probably reached a plateau in what they can sell in Europe and NA with little further growth possible. Whereas outside of Europe and NA, there is still plenty of growth as those areas become more wealthy and want these western middle class toys.
  15. Funnily enough, I was thinking of Flash Gordon at the time. That would clearly be more action/adventure than space, similar to Nexo Knights. Mind you, I wouldn't mind Zarkov's rocket ship.
  16. I just checked out an order fine, £45+ of regular items plus a similar amount of B+P. It is worth keeping two windows of your cart open. Once you place the order, use the other window to click edit on the B+P selection, then add the same order or a few pieces again. That way, you retain a B+P line in the cart so you can enter via the backdoor again.
  17. It looks like it was saved at the last minute. Now it is just as unpopular as Series 14, rather than even more unpopular than Series 14.
  18. LEGO did use bigger parts in the parts, whereas now the builds are more intricate. Plus tastes change as you get older.
  19. If you look in LEGO's half year results for 2019 there is a nice surprise. Castle is one of the top 6 top selling themes ... So long as you count Friends as Castle, that is.
  20. The adventuring together photo has been shown twice.
  21. The statues. As they are viewed side on only, it may be that you can add a bit of texture on the side using curved slopes or similar to emphasis the nose and cheeks. Even if these stick out too far, that shouldn't matter too much as the viewer only sees them from one angle. As to perspective, I mean just drop the camera down slightly. The original photos emphasis the scale of the statues, since the camera is roughly level with the mouth and looks up slightly. Whereas yours look small since the camera is about level with the eyes of the statues, looking downwards towards the mouths. A small change in the camera placement might change this.
  22. I hope the Pursuit of Flight. It is an interesting set in that it is a bit quirky compared to most LEGO sets being a kinetic model, a bit like the pop-up book. Although of course they have since done the dragon dance kinetic model. I like the medieval blacksmith but I don't think I'd buy it, plus it is a bit too niche (would the general public really buy it?) Seven Dwarves - fine if they get the license and include Snow White. Winnie the Pooh, same again - fine, but have a decent Tiger. The Office, no thanks. I like the show, but it is old and not as iconic as The Big Bang Theory or FRIENDS. NASA, we've had enough recently. Thunderbirds, no interest from me. History Museum, no thanks, stick with the modulars. And Haunted Mansion, no thanks, already got the MF set.
  23. Amsterdam is getting a Flagship store, in December this year.
  24. https://www.lego.com/en-us/aboutus/news-room/2019/september/interim-results-2019/ In English here. hey also mention Friends, Creator and Ninjago. Plus specifically mention Marvel. Top selling themes in the first half of the year were a mix of homegrown favourites and partner IPs. In no particular order they were LEGO® City, LEGO Creator, LEGO Friends, LEGO NINJAGO, LEGO Technic and LEGO Star WarsTM. LEGO Marvel Avengers sets performed especially strongly and LEGO Movie 2 products also contributed to consumer sales growth. Note that there is also some good news for Dutch fans - a Flagship Store in Amsterdam, coming December this year.
  25. If it ends this way ... Series 13, officially worse than the Monsters Series 14!
