Isn't POBB selling better than the Sea Cow did? I get the impression it is more popular. I imagine if another character gets a spin out series after Unikitty, it would be Benny.
-
I would definitely recommend this if you have a kid interested in it and you do not want to pay the extortionate prices. I did it for Nexo Knights, images worked fine. If LEGO wanted to security protect it, they should have come up with better protection. If they want to monetize the app, then charge for it, or charge for items in the app.

I suggest looking at some instructions for mechs. LEGO has made a number and there are free MOCs out there too. You can learn a lot by looking at what has gone before.
-
So it should not have been a big deal to get it right in the first place, although the designer said it was painstaking.

It is very hard to prove they are LEGO, without scraping some of the surface and comparing it with a part of known colour. They could be unchromed or dechromed parts. Some old chromed parts are transparent / clear underneath, some are more of a dirty white, while I've also seen grey and tan underneath some chromed parts.

It is less that than it used to be. At the start, you didn't even need to build a model. You could draw a picture of the concept if you wanted. At least now you have to submit a LEGO model.
-
Except LEGO obviously. They do matter if someone is asking about availability of parts or sets, or discussing trades, or events.

If you sort you don't need to dig! PS. if you don't like the noise of LEGO, then don't click this ... https://brickset.com/article/57672

Worse still are people that sell MOC instructions that haven't build what they are selling.

Part 42022 in Dark Purple - Non-Existent in Bricklink
MAB replied to DrJB's topic in General LEGO Discussion
BL users will usually use a sealed set to check inventories. They won't allow changes based on a used set bought from ebay - that is probably why they rejected your suggested change. But it is true, there are a number of errors and I have found BL catmins correct them if there is reasonable proof or the error. -
LEGO designers will need to check the stability anyway. Although I tend to ignore renders on IDEAS too, and also here. Especially if they use a lot of repetition or reuse sections to make something much larger than it probably would be if they were actually building it.

The stickers sheets were contained inside a fold out cube advertising leaflet, this one: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?G=6312574

Part 42022 in Dark Purple - Non-Existent in Bricklink
MAB replied to DrJB's topic in General LEGO Discussion
If you can prove it appears in a set, they will correct it. If you think that bricklink is wrong, then check the instructions for the sets you have. Find the parts in the Inventories at the back of the instructions, then inform bricklink. -
Same here. I only do retail set ones. It is fun when you think you spot a new colour in a leak and anticipate the release to see if it is real. Buying expensive made to order ones seems a bit pointless to me.
-
That depends on whether you want to display the moc or display a photo of the moc. For an online show, a photo is fine. But if you want people to see the actual moc, stability is important.

There is a separate section for trading and buying https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/forum/16-buy-sell-

You can do that sort of thing either by using hinges with locking teeth underneath plates or what appears here is to angle parts come out of the wall and build off those. There are some new Japanese style roof corners coming soon that leaked recently.

Winter village is a reasonably consistent theme (it has gone from semi realisticto a but fantasy though). Releasing sets based on random old themes probably won't get as much consumer buy-in as there is no consistency. Each would essentially be stand alone.

How to best start building up a part collection?
MAB replied to Mars Arka's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Selling multiple different sets on bricklink in the future will not be easy if you mixed them all up. It will be a massive chore sorting them out again. If you are thinking you will give up and need to do this, then buy 10x the same set. At least then it is a bit easier to sort out when you come to sell. And if you are missing parts you will hopefully be able to make 9 sets. -
If they were going to do only one or the other - one AFOL set or a kids range - I think I'd go for the kids range. It would hopefully give a wider array of minifigure prints and these would be in cheaper sets. I'd either buy the sets or fig parts from B+P. For Castle parts for MOCs, I often find Star Wars sets are good value since the figures often sell for a significant proportion of the set price, leaving lots of cheap grey parts. I don't really get the love for the goat. To do it again, it would need to be new mould. I'd prefer to see a return of the cow or a new sheep mould over a goat.

Yes, and LEGO have not brought back Castle (aside from NK), Space or Pirates themes either. So internally LEGO could well be thinking the same thing, that kids do not want those classic themes unless they are somehow tied to a storyline/media to help sell them. Maybe they are testing the waters with the Pirate-like POBB and the Castle-like Blacksmith and this will start a new era of similar AFOL rather than kids sets much as Cafe Corner and Market Street did. It would be an interesting dilemma for Castle/Pirates/Space fans - would you prefer one AFOL set every so often or a kids range of 5-6 sets. LEGO do both, sort of, for Modulars/City but City of course is incredibly well established and a continual good seller.

Doing a new Bionicle them is risky though. It wasn't well received last time. Doing a new constraction theme is also risky. They tried incorporating them into some popular themes Star Wars and Superheroes (and Chima) but still couldn't make them work. I think the Bionicle vote is fairly clear what Bionicle fans want. The old stuff again (as new stuff doesn't work), or not at all. And to do that for a whole theme is a big risk.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don't know how it works for you, but here we can get any added VAT and processing fee from the mail company reversed if you can prove you have already paid the local VAT. That is, not if you paid a foreign country's VAT, as you are meant to claim that back and pay your own. But LEGO should be collecting VAT at your correct local rate so you should be fine. -
I think you need to get the term bootlegs in there, just so unofficial dual molded legs can be referred to as bootleg boot legs.

I think it makes sense to reveal the 90th anniversary set on the 90th anniversary.
