  1. I hope this means they have already selected Castle to win. If it hasn't been chosen, why bother with the explanation when they could have just left it out? I went for Castle, but I really hope they don't go Classic Castle. I'm not buying a yellow one. They did mention they did it for other themes too but that it made no difference to the top of the table. However, I think Space should be in the vote, not Classic Space although to most people voting it probably doesn't matter too much.
  2. LEGO can afford to try new things and fail in them (Life of George, Fusion) simply because most of their product is so steady and reliable. Anything new from LEGO is typically very minor compared to their whole output. It is not like they are ending Star Wars, City, Ninjago, Friends and Technic to have a go at Vidiyo, for example.
  3. I had a wooden castle as a boy. I don't think I ever worried about where the people in it slept and ate. I wonder if kids are any different today.
  4. A big issue is that there are still Native Americans around today, with the same belief systems and traditions, whereas there are not people that identify as 15th or 16th century pirates. It can also be used to refer to the soldiers / cavalry too (as at LEGO's Bricklink).
  5. Friends is not violent.
  6. I don't get it. Why do you imply those animals not toys, when things made out of system such as detailed MOCs or sets such as UCS Star Wars are toys? The point is Bionicle parts are real LEGO and just as valid as any piece from system. There are lots of system parts that are apparently single use but in the hands of the right builder can be used in other ways, just like some Bionicle parts. If some people just dismiss them as they cannot be bothered to learn how to use them does not make them any less real LEGO. If that was the case, we'd never had moved on from 2x2 and 2x4 bricks, some basic slopes and the odd window piece.
  7. Right, and all Town subthemes could coexist in one set without any problems so they could have had a mix of any. Although that is not really anything exciting as they do this already in City, mixing up construction and shops, transport and so on. Whereas they cannot mix the two Western subthemes in one set without implicitly having an interaction between the two factions. Town also has a number of subthemes compared to two for Western.
  8. I picked the largest set in each theme, that being the origin of many of the complaints about the 2013 line. And remember that the 2013 Castle lasted just about a year, the 2014 sets were minimal battle packs. Compare the 2013 range with the first year of Kingdoms in 2010. They look very similar. Who knows what we would have got if LEGO had extended the 2013 range.
  9. This thread is about a SINGLE set to represent a theme to represent LEGO history. So the point is that either they have to interact in the set or either Indians or Cowboys are left out, that is these are different themes.
  10. It is not limitations caused by the pieces, it is lack of knowledge (probably through a lack of willingness to learn about the pieces). There are many MOCs based on Bionicle and CCBS that are not Bionicle characters.
  11. I agree, it fits in with the theme. In fact, for me POBB has most of the elements I think of when I think of pirates. Pirate ship, pirates, pirate Island, and so on. POBB is essentially the theme in one set. It stands as Pirates by itself. Whereas when I think of Castle, I think of castles, knights, and so on and so the Blacksmith is very much on the fringes. Without any other Castle sets, it is not Castle.
  12. So why are there soldiers in the same theme at the same time as the Native Americans? There is some reason the two groups are in the same theme, so how do they interact? Sure, LEGO didn't explicitly show conflict between them but there is a reason that soldiers are there and why they have a fort.
  13. It is not my view, it is LEGO's view. There is no current Pirates theme. Where is POBB found on their website? IDEAS.
  14. I am completely familiar with the theme. Yes, individual sets were sold as "Indians" only in a set. But those sets were sold side by side on the shelves next to sets with the same branding containing soldiers in a fort? And lego also sold this multiset kit... https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=K6762-1&viewItemType=S
  15. I don't get it. What makes Castle 2013 have a video game whereas Kingdoms the best ever? When you compare the King's Castle in each theme they look very similar. And that was a reason often given for people complaining and not buying the 2013 set, that it was too similar (and therefore lazy design and so on).
  16. They appeared individually and not as opposition to white people.
  17. Yes, speculation based on observation - relatively few posts are made on the subforum here but there are active Bionicle forums elsewhere. It isn't though. It is an Ideas set.

  19. Those themes were all new though compared to non-Classic Town or Homemaker, so it is not just age that defines Classic. It is not quality either, as they aren't that great. Also considering LEGO did just celebrate 60 years of the system brick, I don't think it would matter too much if they chose to go non-system this time.
  20. I would imagine that Bionicle would score less well here, as the LEGO Action Figures section is not that active, and also fans of the system are often told that they are not fans of "real LEGO". So they hang out elsewhere.
  21. Does it have to be that exact circle? As there are some excellent ways of close tiling without unsightly gaps based on hexagons that can then be squared off. See the great tutorial here, for example: Cheese Slope Mosaics – a tutorial – Northern Brickworks (nblug.org.uk)
  22. Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote - Page 14 - General LEGO Discussion - Eurobricks Forums There is already a long discussion about this in the general forum. Bionicle is Classic, in that it was the origin of buildable jointed figures. Classic is applied to Space and Castle, even though other themes came before those so why not also apply it to Bionicle?
  23. Haven't you missed the superheroes ... I quite enjoyed those but sold them a couple of years ago. If they are going to market it as a game, then they need to develop the game and rules and LEGO games don't have a reputation of being very good. You could say the same about any theme though - why not make a game for the minifigure parts, whether it is Space, Castle, Vikings, Elves, Trolls, City people, ...
  24. I'm no fan of Bionicle (I've never really been into constraction at all although we have a load of parts that we use to make bare skeletons for shooting at with NERF guns) but to me as an outsider the 2016 sets, and the 2015 ones, look similar but somehow better looking than the original early 2000s sets. Maybe Bionicle fans need to learn from the generation before. Stick the word Classic in front of Bionicle, then complain about everything released after the first few years. The way you describe these seems to be the equivalent of the derided "Jellybean Knights" in Castle circles.
  25. Generally believed by who? I think they were not included because of the dated and somewhat stereotypic depiction of Native Americans that would not be popular today.
