I actually quite like the colour scheme (only I have a greater need for black roof slopes, but the red roof looks better in this set). I just hope it has a good amount of normal bricks (like 1x2), not the 1x8 bricks and the 1x2x5 bricks, don't like the new shutters though+ I don't like that the roofs of creator houses are not finished.

Probably with "jumper plates" (). Or maybe by putting the underside of bricks/plates/tiles in a hollow stud (don't really know how to explain it any better). /end OffTopic

This is such an amazing castle , can't believe I missed it. This is one of, or the best castle moc I've ever seen. It definately deserverves the

I think the "achu" head would look ok for islanders (the legs and torso of him could also be used for variation), the other options have allready been mentioned (some exo-foce and indian heads, allthough I don't think they work just as well as the achu or standard islander heads). Maybe the female head from the ice planet range (I use it for a pirate wench, but I think it would work for a female islander as well).

This is easily the best of the new pirate sets, but it is way overpriced (like all of the sets). It should be 38 euro's (which would be roughly equal to 50usd or 35 gbp), but even then it still would be expensive, since it is then only equal to the other prices, which where by no means cheap to begin with. I hate the hideous palmtree, and that there are stickers, but I much prefer this jaildoor over the old one. Gotta get me some of those doors. Those new wall panels look more usefull than the old ones, allthough they seem less stable in a structure. And the modularity is nice as well.

Vintage Minifigure Collection includes a pirate!
Fluyt replied to General Armendariz's topic in LEGO Pirates
It is really a mystery how these minifigs are chosen for the vintage minifigure collections. Redbeard (or ironhook) would indeed be a much better choice. -
Ever had a time when you THOUGHT you lost a piece?
Fluyt replied to Da Death Star!'s topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeah, sometimes I find a piece I need in 1 second, sometimes it takes me 5 minutes and several searches. But I usually dump everything in 1 big pile, not every bag seperate. But I do occasionally think "hmm... this piece seems like it will be needed soon", and I lay it seperate from the rest in advance. -
Maybe some tan bricks would work. Great moc, can't wait to see it finished.

Don't listen to them, studs rule . Some things look better "studded", some look better "unstudded", a nice blend of both is the best. Nice moc, only I think the part in front of the cockpit would look better untiled. Interesting use for those steering wheels.

I also have a fair amount of (new) cracked bricks, they easily crack, even when put together once (most are normal bricks, not cheese slopes). I don't nearly have the same amount of troubles with my older bricks, LEGO quality and quality-control are really lacking the last few years. This is one of the reasons I don't buy a lot of new sets anymore.

Hmm... vodka and cocaïne, there's your problem .

Well, the new sets are definately not nearly as good as the old ones (and you can easily get the old ones for better prices than the new ones). The sets don't look "finished" and some elements look very <insert that tiresome argument>/childish, like the palmtree, skull&crossbones design etc. (but hey, it is originally a kid's toy). But the new line does bring some very nice accesoires (flame piece, telescope), and most new minifigs are awesome, allthought I have a hard time combining the new and old minifigs, but maybe I just have to get used to it.

And I thought my SES was dusty when I got it . But despite the dustyness, it was in mostly "like new" conditions, except for some yellowish white parts, a small stain on the biggest sail and some marks on the hull. Good luck with yours. Maybe you could sell the current sails you have and use the money to help pay for a full set of new used ones, that way you'll most likely not have 1 or 2 sails that are more fade than the rest.

I've got 6 of him. It's a pretty useless torso/minifig for me to have multiples of (saw it used with a morion in an army once, which looked pretty good, but I don't have enough morion helmets to go around for both my "spanish" soldiers and my redbeards). The most represented pirate in my collection/"army" is the black/red striped one, got 14 of him, redbeard is definately not outnumbering all my other pirates (got more of all the 3 types of pirates with a striped shirt and more of the pirate with blue vest with striped shirt underneath (with brown tricorne)+ more redcoats and bluecoats ofcourse). I count my minifigs by torso, not which official minifig combinations I have/could make.

Yes, and in Imperial outpost and Imperial trading post.
-
Probably yes, or an admiral or other high ranked figure, with a role similar to broadside or woodhouse. Woodhouse gets my vote, I wish I had more than one.
-
Just about any galidor or bionicle part . Or those bellville figures.

He's just keeping a low profile, so he can take over the world when you least expect it . I don't like BB's head and his golden hook, I hope he gets replaced by a better one, that could rival with Redbeard and Ironhook.

I've ordered 6 of those a while ago with the intent of using them for part of a dock/harbour. Unfortunately I still haven't got to that yet, but they seem like they would look pretty good (the other versions, in dark grey and with different printing do look slightly better in my opinion, but they are more expensive+ they weren't available in my country). I personally wouldn't use them side-by-side, but with 1 or 2 studs in between with some light grey bricks, to break the monotomy of it. For a cylindrical tower you could use 1x1 cylinders and 1x3 bricks together (or 1x2 bricks for creating smaller towers), or you could use 2x3 wedge bricks to make a round structure. Only the latter one wouldn't have room for an interior.

Indeed, not historically accurate. The skull&crossbones (or other personalized pirate symbols) on flags was not that common either, most pirate ships just got close by "acting normal" and then hoist their "pirate flag", which was often just a black flag, no fancy skull&crossbones (or something similar) on them. This was often enough for the enemies to surrender, without much violence or gunfire.

I'm not too fond of the inside of the cave (it looks a bit too "clean" for my taste, even if it was meant to be manmade). But the landscaping is simply amazing, one of the best landscapes I've seen, and probably the best snow-landscape ever. I'm just jealous of such enormous collections .

Haha, rofl . He let one go in the 2nd pic as well. Great moc, and amazing photoshop skills.

All of the above +Imperial Armada. But I think LEGO will release at least 1 or 2 more waves of redcoats. I just wish they release all the minifigs in minifig/battlepacks (with some accesories) someday though, I don't want the sets.

If you didn't post this, I would have suspected this was another CaptainGreenhair masterpiece . Now it is an HMS243 masterpiece, it's looking great so far. Only thing I have as an improvement point is the part under the cabin doesn't look right. I wish I could make such wonderfull mocs, I always have trouble with the cabin and its connection to the middle and with the tumblehome effect.

Nice moc, and good use of that ugly baseplate. Instantly reminded me of "stan's previously owned vessels" .
