Got the castle advent calendar today, the minifigs are great

Brown is the most versatile and easy colour to work with, so I voted brown. But I like all hull colours, nice to have some variation, although some colours are hard to use well.

I think you'd have to convince a couple of 100 million people. A lot of U.S. inhabitants seem to think they are "America" (not just a part of it), but then again, judging by their geographical knowledge, I'm not surprised. But English is the most obvious choice for Eurobricks, since most people in the U.S. don't learn a second language (and thus expecting that the rest of the world will adapt to them instead of vice versa) and since most Europeans speak English (allthough in some countries people don't really like to speak English, like the French, but that kinda makes sense). At least in my experience.

I really prefer the "old" version a lot better. It has better guns and indy's car looked better. I was thinking of buying this, but now I'm not sure, why must preliminary sets usually be better? The only thing that improved is maybe indy and shortrounds outfit (allthought the "old" ones suited them well) and rear mudguards on the lao-ché ganster car.

9v: switchtrack (left), crossing, 4 straight, 4 bends, all old dkgray. And got a 6289 - RBR last week. Few pieces missing, but it was like new and pretty cheap.

More detail is indeed a good one (allthough this makes them harder to fit in with old pirate torso's), just as that they'll become very cheap. But is it sure the shako's are printed and not just stickers? On one hand it is nice if they would be printed, but it'll really limit their use, opposite to the "old" neutral shako's. And are new brown backpacks a good point? (you mean reddish brown right?), it is good that they have backpacks, but I like the old brown colour better. It would be nice if the new backpacks where that new dark brown colour.

Yeah, the older ones looked better because of the white torso, there's just something that isn't right about the new one, maybe it has to do with the red torso. The new ones are nice, but only in relatively small numbers or for a special regiment in an army (artillery, grenadiers, maybe even a band or other supporting troops like medics or messengers). For an entire army, the old ones look better.

Yeah indeed, why not sell them or give them away?

A lot of "clip" pieces (like the viking clip-on axe or battledroid arms) seem to break extremely easily the last few years. Also a lot of bricks seem to crack really easy (even when put together once), but my old pieces usually don't have this problem. Seems like the plastic quality has really dropped a lot, I have several broken pieces of these kinds.

I think it's made with wedge ("wing") pieces like these, arranged in a "circle" (not a perfect circle, but it'll do I think) and the center is filled with "ufo" pieces like these. Not 100% sure on the wedge plates, there are more ways to do it.

Adding 6289 - Red Beard Runner to my list . Glad to have "the 3" big ships now. Not a 100% complete (missing string, weapons and about 5 bricks/plates), but in generally great condition (like new allmost, especially the sails), with instructions and box+ got it fairly cheap (40€ inc. shipping)

I like all 3 of them, the newest works nicely as an archer or something. But does it really replace "old" torso's? Because there are 3 "old" torso's in the castle advent calendar.

A very nice guide , very usefull. You lucky bastard. Sometimes I get some good deals (even though some "bad" deals, because I really need a particular item, easily even it out), but none come even close, to coming close to that.

It's a nice and fun moc, but it's not piratey (as in: evil) enough for this contest I think. The sandgreen bricks on the bottom of the dock are a nice touch as the seaweed and other stuff that would get on those poles, but it seems too uniform/abrupt, like it doesn't really blend or fit in with the rest.

Great use of the irina spalko hairpiece and the dinosaurfins as a plant. But I think the roof of the hut is a little too blocky, maybe you could use some plates to make a smoother roof (all sides, not 2 like there are now).

This looks amazing . But I don't think I'll be able to buy it , I wish I were rich...

I really like the gallows, the cage, the guy in it and the crow . But I'm not too sure about the very long pole and I can't help but feel this moc is too "clean"/empty or something, it's kinda hard to describe.

I think the guy burying the other looks too black (nothing racist btw ) with a black beard, black shovel, black torso/leg. And in my opinion crabs would look better than ants, but that is a matter of taste and if you have crabs or not (the shellfish kind, not the other "crabs" ). Otherwise a nice vignette.

I like the cute little ship, the sinking ship and the brown roof. But I think the shoreline could use some work, like replacing the technic bricks and making some irregularity at the (nicely sloped btw) beach, now it is too straight. And the sinking ship could use some bubbles and wreckage around it, if you weren't planning on that already.

Got 10 straight 9v tracks today . Now I'll hope I won't be needing to buy another (expensive) motor and/or regulator for my train (anyone know if they break easily?, and if they do break, are they easy to repair?).

Ah, then that is indeed the best choice. I like the angled archway on the right, but I agree with others that the big cannon looks out of place (but maybe that'll change when you build the tower in the rear)..

I have 2 of this set (mainly bought for the armour and axe at the time), and I really like this set. Even though the set has some useless pieces like the kk2 sword and bionicle shield, the wolf is pretty well constructed, although I don't use it because it doesn't fit in lego system (but it does look good on its own and has some usefull parts, like lots of black droid arms).
