Even though it is made up of mostly "basic bricks", it looks wonderfull. Seems like it could be a model for a store display.

Those are some great looking mocs, excellent idea with the water. Any more pics/folders to view the mocs in greater detail?

The different prices on LEGO in the US vs. Europe
Fluyt replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
"And in order to stay profitable as a company, we cannot decrease our European prices" That is just stupid, they refuse to up the prices in the U.S. (they don't want the weak dollar to hurt those consumers), so they screw the rest of us (they obviously have no problem hurting the rest), nice... Size of the market is a lame excuse, what about Germany?, those prices are very high as well. -
Dude, calm down, you're reading what you want to read, like a stereotypical american. Don't feel "attacked", just because something could "maybe have just the slightest negative hint towards you". People don't like that it is "too American" in the way that it doesn't fit well with the other CC buildings or just don't like the architecture. And about the flag, most people don't like it because it doesn't look good, it isn't detailed enough, it is also an unnessesary addition. I kinda like it as a standalone set, but it doesn't go well with the other CC buildings.

Review 8880 Super Car
Fluyt replied to starstreak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, I had no idea this was such an awesome set . Great extensive review. -
Is there the word "LEGO" on the studs? If not, then it is very likely a knockoff. Do you have a pic?, maybe someone can identify it.

Above the waterline it would be 1,6 meters for it to be in 1:39 scale (main mast rose 62,4 meters above the waterline). It is looking great so far, a truly amazing project. It is incredibly huge, maybe it would be better if it would be in several parts, otherwise you might not be able to move it when it is finished.

I like their look, grey pants go well with them. Not a good idea . As far as I know the redcoats are still popular (at least I like mine ), even with the new redcoats released +their price hasn't really changed on BL. You could use them as different battalions, or 1 type as navy, 1 type as landtroops and maybe there will be a classic pirates contest one day, with use of oldschool parts/minifigs (like the classic town contest).

Imperial Trading Post (although it is not really a priority, I've got just about all the parts I need, with some minor colour variants, I've at least got the hardest parts to get: the sails) Caribbean Clipper maybe, it's about the same as ITP, not a priority and I've got most parts I need to make it (Hull from my BSB and I've recently bought 2 sets of CC sails) Imperial Flagship (got 2 triangular, 2 main and 1 "side" sail, but not the set nor the hull) Renegade Runner +some new pirate minifigs, don't really care about the sets

Some masonry string works pretty wel (the kind masons use to make sure the wall is straight, don't know if it has a special name), unfortunately I could only find it in white, but it might also be availabe in black. For the thin variant, just regular thin yarn on a spool works nicely.

I have around 24 (2 have broken brown bases, that's half of my total number of brown ones), about 19 of them have a red base and 1 green. All are oldgray shooting cannons.

Yeah let's hope the "twist" is not something like bionicle or galidor , but more like technic, which is also kind of a "twist" of regular lego. Although the idea of turning a cartoon into lego form, as we know from spongebob and clone wars (they brought us some good sets and some good new pieces, but cartoon minifigures is just weird most of the time), is a bad starting point.

That 2 should be a 1 right? , please, let it be an error, TLG is getting crazier every time, no wonder they nearly went bankrupt, how do they expect to sell a decent amount with these crazy prizes? (mostly in Europe, Canada and Australia as far as I know). It is a good set, well designed, great detail, but (again) the price totally ruins it. I won't get excited over a new set ever again, because they will ruin it with poor pricing.

Welcome to EB/Classic Pirates tommyboy! They where in the wildwest sets in darkgrey colour, but these particular ones in brown are not real lego, they are from the clonebrand "brick".

You cheated!, I see a flipper Very original idea, I would have never thought of that, and it looks good as well .

Lego Star Wars 10th anniversary exclusive on May 3 and 4
Fluyt replied to Commander Assassin's topic in LEGO Star Wars
They didn't make a poster for us, they made a poster (like a lot of other exclusives and special deals) just for the U.S. -
That little kid inside me is hiding, I think he might be afraid of cannons . I am however excited about the new parts (and minifigs), we hadn't seen before, like the telescope.
-
Okay , I am not totally excited about the fact the firing cannons actually work well . I allready had over 20 cannons, so I don't really care about the "new" ones (only difference is colour).

Thanks people . It was fun to do (even though I had less time than I thought, and didn't even know I had a serious chance at winning ).

Do you go to extremes to protect your precious bricks ?
Fluyt replied to green dewback's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm not going too extremes to protect my bricks. I try to keep them out of direct sunlight, prevent too much rubbing on printen pieces/torso's and of course not try to use extreme force to prevent them from breaking (like somewhat gently switching arms on minifigs). Dust is usually just blown off, no special bath or anything. But I'm especially not carefull with bricks that are allready not in optimal condition. -
I wish the admiral/governor minifig would have been in it (instead of the very overused skeleton), but otherwise nice minifig selection.
-
I'm not too familiar with hornblower, but your decal looks great. Too bad it isn't completely the "lego dark-blue" (allthough I think matching colours on the computer to lego parts is very hard), but you absolutely nailed the design, very accurate.
-
Congrats to everyone , and thanks for such great contests (and prizes) here on EB/CP (unfortunately I couldn't do some moccing myself this time, but maybe next time ).
-
I think I have about 250-350 minifigs, mostly pirates (well over a hundred).

Ah, yes, I think I searched in another forum section without unchecking the box "search in this forum only"
