  1. According to Peeron: 79 Sets (66 unique), 12,832 Parts, $1,573.5, 242 Minifigs (with a couple of sets without a known msrp price). But I'm pretty sure I missed quite a few sets (I was too lazy to list every set )+ I have also bought loose parts and figs. And the value/price on Peeron is based on original price, and is in usd, so it is probably 1900-2000 euro's, instead of the 1575 dollar value given by Peeron (since TLG likes to overprice things here ), and that is without the unknown prices and with quite a few sets missing.
  2. I think I've spent about 3 euro's on SW lego. A young Obi-wan torso (and his brown cape) and Han Solo minifig (desert skiff version). That must be a record . There are a lot of awesome SW sets, but unfortunately I don't have the money to be venturing outside of 1 or 2 themes too often (most is spent on pirates).
  3. Nice find. - The skull&crossbones is the original (good) version - Captains torso looks a bit of a mix between "steve" and redbeard

    Tumblehome

Jumper plates or slopes to make the ship slightly wider, then slopes, hinge bricks or hinge plate (+appropriate adition to that piece) to create the tumblehome. Those are the most common ways I think (or best/most logical), there are more techniques to create a tumblehome effect, mostly with SNOT building. I've never used the tumblehome technique, since I don't have enough appropriate bricks to make it work and I don't build huge ships like "la mort royale" where it is allmost needed to make the ship look good (I build smaller ships, up to 2 midsections and not that high, where the lack of tumblehome effect isn't really a problem).
  5. I don't know a top-5, but Medieval Marketplace an the Castle Advent Calendar are both great sets, and the latter one is cheap too. You should check out 6090 - Royal Knights Castle as well. But pre-1995 there are a lot more interesting sets than post-1995.
  6. They do look pretty tasty, but it is unfortunate the colours didn't all came out equally good. Oh, where those for everyone? ...Burp
  7. I wouldn't really know what the poll should say (what good intervals would be), or if it would be that usefull since the difference seems to be big. But if a mod/admin (or whatever you call them these days ) thinks a poll should be added/would be usefull I won't stop them . But I'm glad you allready added a pole to this thread, it really decorates the place . I'm glad I'm not the only one with way too many rowing boats, now only if someone could figure out what to do with them... I like the piece fairly much, but it seems to have very limited use (but I've even seen pieces like the rubberband holder put to good use, so there must be something else to do with the boats).
  8. I never thought of using that indian medicine man torso for zulu's, but it looks great.
  9. I was just checking my collection and came to the conclusion I have way too many rowing boats. A lot of old pirate sets included 1 or 2 of them and that adds up to a lot of rowing boats. I have: 9 red ones 6 brown ones 2 frown ones 17 in total. Which is more than I'll ever use/need I think. I don't have enough LEGO to use them all in a nice large diorama for a raid or something. So how many do you have? And are there any other good uses for them than being just a rowing boat (or small dinghy)?
  10. That is one great moc . I see some very nice techniques in use here. Rip of the legs from the hips, then rotate 90 degrees . The lightning uses those "lightning" pieces which came in that skeleton tower and in the castle advent calendar (maybe more, but these I know of), the rest, how they are secured, is a bit ard to distinguish.
  11. I'd suggest you sell yours and buy a new (not misb) one with the money. You buy a used one for about 225$, you bought yours for let's say 150$ (probably less since you bought it on sale), so you're down max. 375$, you'll maybe sell your misb one for like 475$ (not sure how the demand is on misb sets, so they're just estimates, probably a bit of a low guess, judging by the BL prices), you get get a profit of a 100$ (probably more) and you got the set for free basically. I don't care much for misb sets, I open mine, but if I somehow had an expensive misb set, I'd do it this way. I mean you'll open it anyways, so why not buy a used one and make a few bucks while you sell your misb one.
  12. Red Beard Runner is by far the best of the 2. I actually like the sails, because they're "battleworn" and are the only ones that are. They are less childish than BB's sails, even thought both have a skull and crossbones on them, RBR's looks a lot better/badass, and the grey/white/black sails are an appealing colour combination. The rigging on RBR is better, I mean, it has better rope ladders+ it has actual rigging with ropes, which the BB lacks completely (unless you can call those chains rigging) and the masts of BB suck. BB does have a more realistic colour-scheme, but unfortunately it is the frown colour (dark brown would be a lot better), and also the "log"-bricks do not look good on a ship (at least not in this fashion). RBR's colour scheme isn't that realistic, but is fairly pleasing to the eye. BB looks nearly attrocious in design, very empty, sterncastle is too high and the whole masts/sails "thing" (you can't really call it rigging) is horrible. The cannon on the sterncastle isn't working in BB's favour either. BB does have some imperials to fight, which the RBR lacks, but it does cut in the crew for the ship, come on, 4 crew for a ship that size? RBR has more weapons per minifig, if I recall correctly, and could do a 4 cannon broadside if you added another cannon, versus the 2 (or 3) cannon broadside of BB and underarmed crew.
  13. Yeah it is a good choice (if it was a consious choice, which I doubt), that way people who have the actual minifig wouldn't complain the value of theirs dropped (well, with the price of these vintage minifig collections that wouldn't really be much of an issue) +they might even buy it for more variety. The ninja-wrap seems to be of a weird material/colour as well, but I don't have any ninja-wraps, so I don't know if it is supposed to be like that. Like with the legend rerelease of some sets, I think it would have been better if they where slightly different from the original, not as much as 6090 and 10176, but still slighly different, that way people who allready have the original set will be more likely to buy it imho.
  14. Of course minifigs are not "sexy" or "hot", silly people, now Bellville figures on the other hand... Rawr!, now that's hot. . . . . . . Just kidding of course . I do think some minifigs look good, but not in the "sexy" kind of way, but more like "wow, that's pretty detailed/well designed".
  15. Just keep an eye on good deals/sales (it would be a waste to pass up on them if you see them before you get the fortress). You might also want to start making an army of another faction, 1 big army of orcs and noone to fight would probably be a bit boring.
  16. Ok, thanks, I allmost had a heart-attack when I saw the 180 euro price in the 1st post (but TLG is crazy enough to pull something like that). The set looks pretty damn sweet, as well as the Endor and Hoth sets. So many great sets, looks like SW is going in the right direction again.
  17. Is the venator price of 180 euro for real? (=226 usd, while u.s. price is over a 100$ cheaper) Please let it be a typo, otherwise TLG has truly gone nuts (more than they where before).
  18. But it looks like a stick, made out of (digested) food. We're talking about the brown carrot right? I think it works very well as a club or torch.
  19. 2.375 euro's each? , that's mighty expensive, you could get 46 soldiers forts for each soldiers arsenal you got. , about 2,40€ each is indeed a pretty good deal.
  20. All in no particular order: Best: -Pirates (the original line, 1989-1999 I think) -Castle (mainly the BF and Crusader era or mid 80's to mid 90's) -Space/City (mainly late 80's to mid 90's) So basically the staples of LEGO. Themes like Indiana Jones or Star Wars are good as well (mainly OT-sets, clonewars sucks (sets and the series)), but set-quality varies pretty much and has dropped a lot recently, especailly Star Wars (although the upcomming Endor and Hoth sets look like they could change the tide again). Ninja and WW are great as well, but not top-3, but then again, they weren't around that long. Worst: -Galidor -4+ -Bionicle -Znap All are very un-lego-like (hardly any real bricks, lots of useless and <insert that tiresome argument> pieces etc.). I don't like stuff like Clickits or Bellville either, but they seem to serve their purpose/targeted audience better+ Bellville brought us a lot of very usefull food-items (and has more real LEGO than the themes mentioned above), and I don't consider Clickits a real theme, it is more like the LEGO-merchandise stuff.
  21. Here's your dog http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?G=KC109 ,it's from 1963. But there's not a lot of other info on it, except this: "This dog appears as a decoration in a pamphlet for 1963 accessories sets. It has been used for decorative purposes, and the key chain version most likely was a giveaway for retailers. It appears never to have been sold." (quote from BL). Yours seems to be in much better condition than the one in the pic on BL.
  22. That's a normal green snake Judging from the material, the headress is not the final version, I hope not at least. The 2 dinosaur tail things seem to have 2 different colours , tan and white or something (+they are a different colour (green) on the box)
  23. The Euro-prices are insane , are they planning on selling these, or do they just want them to take up shelf-space? The only set I'll maybe get is the cairo ambush one (or not, out of protest), the rest will need to be at least half off/have properly converted prices. 7195 Ambush in Cairo 10$ = 7,75€ (instead of 14€) 7197 Venice Chase 40$ = 31€ (instead of 47€) 7198 Plane Attack 50$ = 38,80€ (instead of 60€) 7199 Temple of Doom around 80$ = 62€ (instead of 90€) 7195 Ambush in Cairo €13,99 = 18$ (instead of 10$) 7197 Venice Chase €46,99 = 60,55$ (instead of 40$) 7198 Plane Attack €59,99 = 77,30$ (instead of 50$) 7199 Temple of Doom €89,99 = 116$ (instead of 80$) This is just ridiculous, I thought LEGO was going in the good direction (the price differences have even been worse!), but they're just doing it again, a big "screw you" to European (and also Asian, Australian, among others) LEGO-fans. There is just no way to justify these prices, the sets don't have to travel as far, and the sales tax is nowhere near the 50% difference mark, so how can the sets be 1,5 to 2x as expensive? And even Americans are complaining about some prices (while having the cheapest LEGO by far), so when the proper conversion is used (euro-price adapted to usd-price), they'll still be overpriced. But enough ranting for now (I just get mad when TLG thinks we're idiots). The sets look pretty good+ awesome minifigs. I'm glad they decided to make some new moulds, instead of just using existing female hair for elza or a 1x1 cone brick as a fez for example, with the new moulds it looks so much better. Only I would have prefered a scimitar (from the adventurers line) instead of the troll/orc-sword (or at least it looks like it is an orc/troll-sword). I wonder if those tracks in the ToD mine-chase will be used for the new train-sytem.
  24. I don't think the crossbow is a "BIG" hint, not even a tiny hint. But I do believe TLG will release elves (or forestmen), or at least something like that, mainly because of the "elflands" pic.
