LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Pulp Detective replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
There is a long list of the antagonists in here.Bears, tigers, scorpions and the list goes on.I hope MK keeps going on just so we can see most the demons in Lego form. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Journey_to_the_West_characters -

I know it's too early to talk about the next wave but I hope we get a new villain faction.Journey to the West had many demons for the heroes to fight so Lego has endless source material. -

Manor Von Barron Discussion
Pulp Detective replied to Oky's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I've been waiting for an Adventurers comeback for years and now with all the hints you've listed makes me hopeful. Cmf s19 Monkey King was obviously a teaser for Monkie Kid,hopefully that same logic can be applied to the Haunted House and Adventurers. Edit:You mentioned Scooby Doo,was there a Adventurers easter egg that I missed?- 30 replies

LEGO Hidden Side 2020
Pulp Detective replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Does anyone know how well the HD sales are? This theme doesn't appeal to me as it did last year with it's first wave but even so it's an action theme that doesn't follow the tiresome Ninjago formula so I'm hoping that HD sells well enough to make Lego understand that not only Ninjago lookalikes can be successful. -
LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Pulp Detective replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I don't,it's a great theme offering great minifigs and builds.I'm just critical of Lego's decisions regarding this theme from being exclusive to Lego shops to the heavy prices. But my biggest criticism is that it follows the Ninjago formula and ever since Ninjago's success Lego has been trying to replicate this success with Chima and Nexo Knights. But both of those themes after their 3 year run retired, meaning that Ninjago is a once in a blue moon success.I would prefer if Lego continued applying the Ninjago formula only with Ninjago and expirement with other action themes. But no it seems Lego keeps insisting on applying this formula to every new action theme, the newest being MK.Honestly I'm rather suprised that Hidden Side is even a theme that exists considering it's quite different to the current action theme trends. -

I think it varies from person to person. My family is from Russia and I wouldn't mind Lego making a set with a mecha version of Baba Yaga's chicken feet house. -
LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Pulp Detective replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
It really does It also doesn't help that MK will be competing against Ninjago, atleast if Ninjago was no more MK would be the only vehicle/mecha heavy action theme in the market but that's not the case. Not to mention that Ninjago is more cheaper. -
LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Pulp Detective replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I wouldn't mind those prices if there were cheaper sets to compensate for the expensive ones, the thing is that there is only one relative cheap set and it costs 35 euro. That's also why I hesitate to call this theme "big bang" since those themes have a vast array of sets and prices which makes them more accessible. I'm rather suprised at how Lego didn't delay this theme with everything that is happening. Not to mention with the economic crisis people won't be racing to buy those expensive sets. -

I highly doubt every Chinese AFOL feels that way. What I think is going to hurt this theme are the prices and the availability of those sets, from what I understand normal retailers don't sell those sets. -

The sets are available now at the Lego shop.As I expected the prices differ in each region in Europe, for example the bull mech costs 100€ here in Greece -

You know I find it funny with how much detail Lego has put into this theme yet when you look at the villain faction 90% of the minifigures are those identical bull goons. And I know that they're clones which explains why they all look the same but still it comes off as Lego being lazy.Would it hurt if there was more variety to the villains? -

Shame for those prices, they'll probably impact the sales in a bad way.And I want this theme to be successful,it has potential. -

A new polypag has been leaked. -
I heard about this movie but never saw it. You know all this talk about potential zombie themes made me think it would be a great idea to have a theme based on the movie "Army of Darkness".Just swap the skeletons with zombies and you have a spooky medieval zombie theme.
-
I'd rather have a zombie theme based on that MF set rather than have a theme based on WD.Modern zombie settings are dreadfully boring.

Yea introducing a brand new theme with such high prices(for an action theme) is definitely not a wise idea. -

Why are those sets so pricey though? It's an original theme not a licensed one after all. And btw isn't there one more set we haven't seen? The so called "Monkey Kid delivery motorcycle".
