I personally used LDD to quickly throw a basic model together, export it and import to MLCad usually, fix all the missing parts (mainly misalignments/export issues) and then clean up. MLCad is a great tool but it is really slow to use when starting fresh. Love all the Ldraw suite of tools though for exporting, rendering, generating instructions and so on. Still, a few improvements from LDD could make it a killer tool like having the option to turn on collisions. MLCad will be what I use when LDD becomes unusable.

Just curious but does anyone have issues with the palette in the latest version? For me the colours are cropped at the top so you can't filter by certain colours. I've got a dual display setup and one is widescreen. It seems to me the legacy palette has grown somewhat so it's hard to say what is missing.

Here's my entry for the free build. it's the first time I've tried anything like this or on this scale. I've designed this as a modular and I'm pretty sure I've use the parts accurately. I agree with the quality. I'm in the process of sorting my collection and they are all sets in the last few years. What I've noticed is there is significant colour variation in the bricks of the same colour and, if you could believe it, even white bricks show a difference of whiteness. Red bricks seem to be the most noticable along with the reddish brown log bricks. I have noticed the smaller sets have certainly jumped in price, the ones that used to be 4.99 euro are now 5.99 with a similar piece count and sometimes more. A perfect example is the new coastguard surfer rescue set 60011.

It's a tricky question. There is a LUG in Ireland which I only found out about a month or so ago and they do meet monthly. I'm a member of their website and keep an eye on it. However, they are centred largely around Dublin and I'm on the west coast so to get to a meeting is near impossible being just shy of 200km away. So I guess, yes I'm a member, no I don't really support them at this time. I do participate online on other sites and have posted here a few times as well and often post on the likes of BrickSet and have done a few small reviews. If I had more time, I would probably participate more but I have 2 young kids, pre-school, so I'm kept busy all the time and barely get much time building stuff.

Hi All, I'm Brian. I've been a member of Eurobricks for a while now,over a year maybe, and only just found this thread. I'm from Aberdeen, Scotland but live in Co. Galway, Ireland and have so for about 7 years now. I only starting collecting Lego in the last 4 years. I'm a software engineer working in the oil industry who has been writing software for almost 30 years now having started as a kid. I dabble with LDD and MLCad as well as 3D Modelling tools. Lego-wise, pretty much anything goes that grabs my attention but I particularly like creator houses and city.

I think friends is good but my issue with the mini dolls is they are presenting a false image of how they should look, like models. That's the beauty of the minifig - no model-like image and a male fig with a female hairpiece often looks like a female. I guess that's more a issue with dolls in general.

This is amazing. It makes me want to build a Lego theme park. Has anyone ever done rollercoasters?

It's a shame they didn't design it with PF motorisation in mind, especially since it came with track. I guess you could probably attach a 9V engine which is easily done by changing the tender floor to use a technic plate and then replace wheels with the motor. Still, a nice engine. Thanks for the review.

There's 4 dynamite parts in the Toy Story 7597 Western Train Chase, and I know of 1 in 7326 Rise of the Sphinx. Pretty sure I have a couple of other sets with it as well. Still, great review. Was considering picking up some of the mining sets.
