Awesome build Rog with a classic Shell/Lego look. Interior is really good and I like the ice cream freezer (hope that's what it is) But my favorite piece would have to be the air and water machine it looks spot on. Lots of security cameras too. I thought I was the only one thinking about those petrol thieves. Well done and good luck. Brendan

Looks really good and full of details. Some were complaining about the size restrictions but you've pulled it off with using only half the size well done!

Looking good can't wait to see the final product. Will join in that flickr group ASAP looks like it has a few nice ones in there already. Yes our fuel in Australia is heavy taxed too. No such thing as red diesel here. I wonder if anyone's tried to remove the red dye? They probably have but got caught red handed. I haven't thought of adding other fuels due to the lack of room I guess but good idea for my next project. Thanks! I say join in the fun and have a break from that fantastic Fire Station. Just don't pull it apart for parts. I have destroyed a majority of my sons city sets looking for just the right piece he is happy though he loves playing with the servo.

Caltex Service Station (Servo Showdown Entry)
Aussie BJ replied to lightningtiger's topic in LEGO Town
Very nice as usual LT. Really looks good in New Mannum too. I haven't had a chance to look at my entry in the past few days. Still plenty of time though. -
Turning into quite the fuel lesson. I thought we were paying through the roof but the UK prices are amazing. Close enough to $2 aud a litre. Some of our new cars are safe to run on ethnol blended fuel (which comes from our sugar cane Industries left overs i believe) but most older cars don't run that well on it. Nearly killed my lawn mower and edger after just 1 tank. Our racing v8 supercar series runs on E85 fuel with no problems but I have never seen it for sale. I do live in the country though.

Most service station in Australia sell Premium Unleaded ($1.65 a litre or $6 a gallon if my maths is correct), Regular Unleaded ($1.55 a litre) and Ethonal blended Unleaded ($1.45 a litre). Also Diesel and Premium Diesel plus what we call GAS in Australia or LPG. Costs me around $90 AUD to fill up my car on Premium Unleaded which sadly I have to do every 2 weeks.

IED attack AKA work (which we must do from time to time to able us to buy more L e g o!) and have had no time to even moc let alone look on here. That your final entry LT? MIA......! or probably working! Another Shell hey, will it have the 4c discount or 8c? (shopper dockets in Australia spend $30 bucks at a Supermarket (coles) and get a discount on fuel. Shell does it in Australia) I found the limits challenging too but fun none the less. Have big plans after this contest though, for a huge one so I can go to town on the interior.

Thought I should give this old post a bump with the current Servo showdown going on. Might have to lift our game troops! Amazing job Hoexbroe well done!

Looks good Salvobrick, You did well using only your left overs and a half size base plate. Just check the rules, but I think you need to start a new topic with your masterpiece then post a link here. Also you need 3 minifigs plus your cool looking van.

Looking good Electricsteam. Nice and big. Thinking of doing up a big one after this little contest myself. Oh no! could that be the next contest/war? no size limits.....! Lookout for the vacuum in that room I can see heaps of little hidden treasures.

Newish member here too and glad this thread has resurfaced. Well done on a great design and concept L@go

Very interesting concept and I can't wait to see it in bricks. One question though, where are the big fuel storage tanks....? or do they just tap into the closest Oil Platform
-
Well reviewing the rules it doesn't say they aren't allowed. But I don't think they are. LegoCityMann will have to clarify this for you. But feel free to post some pictures in the mean time.
-
Yeah, you took the words out of mouth LT. I meant to mention that I was going to do that in my last post. Thanks Xyver, glad you like our teaser shots. Keeping a few things up my sleeve just incase of an ambush. Might have the night off from the servo and try something for that minifig contest. Will probably build a mini servo

Not that many of us by the looks of it or they are all lurking in the woods like sharp shooters. Here's and update on my pumps. Still needing some refinement but getting there.
-
Stickers hey......! Nice one, have you been surfing on that base plate or what she's a bit curly. Ok here's a peak at my roof still working on it though. Started work on my vehicle last night who wants to see a picture of it?
-
No not so much from the future, pretty much a current one. I can see why you thought so with those signs on the pumps.
-
Going good LT, seen as though everyone else was post their pumps here's a very much WIP of mine. Still deciding which style I prefer.
-
Umm BP..... I like the different colour handles for the different fuels. Never was one for Ethonol though. Hoses look new they just come in? I'm still deciding if i should use them or another type. Oh and they look great! CMF bases do a good job there.
-
Ah now I see them well done. Thought it would be hard to replicate poly pipe. Worth trying on Cuusoo you just never know what others might like.

A fantastic building Rog. Details have all come together really well. Like the water dispenser and great colors in the Cafe!

Drove past this really old servo today out west in a small country town. It was so nice and run down I wanted to stop and take some photo's but sadly it was pouring down rain. Got me thinking I might change my era.... I suppose multiple entries aren't allowed? Cool can't wait LT, whats this broadside you're talking about hmmm.....

Here's a teaser shot from my servo entry. Not saying to much, but there is something in the photo which does something a little different.

Come on jonwil I only have 1 item with octan on it and it's a train carriage. Nothing in the rule says it has to be Octan fuel. I've just made up 3 different prototypes to see which colors work and not one has Octan anywhere. Go on, do one up you know ya want too!
