  1. Helm's Deep, Tower of Orthanc, Uruk-hai Army, and An Unexpected Gathering are all must haves from the Lego Middle-Earth universe (as evident by this poll).
  2. A lot of them, yes. I bought 20 of the Uruk-hai Army and 10 Mirkwood Elf Army sets. Other than that (and one of every other regular set), all of my orcs have come from BrickLink. I was able to get most of the bald Mordor Orcs for around $2/each. The Uruk-hai were around $3 for the fully armored versions. Unfortunately they aren't available for anywhere near this price that anymore. Now they are all $4+. Not that the haired and ear versions were ever cheap, those and Moria Orcs have always been $4.50+. I am not entirely sure which hats I will be using. Probably a lot of them that have already been used by other members though. I have seen the goblin CMF and considered getting some to help fill out my ranks, but ultimately decided not to. The reason being I feel like the print isn't near as detailed as the LotR and Hobbit orcs.
  3. I hate the classic skeleton and Battle Droid minifigures. I think they look terrible and cheap. I absolutely hate building using 1x1 of pretty much any brick.
  4. Here's a quick one I did:
  5. Any Lego minifigure? If that's what you are talking about then no. They come with little disc that have chip readers in them and you need those to use the characters in game.
  6. I finally got around to picking up the last Hobbit wave after waiting several months for a decent sale to come along to no avail: 2x The Lonely Mountain 2x The Battle of the Five Armies 2x Attack on Lake-town 2x Witch-King Battle I also got the following two older sets, making them my third of each: 1x An Unexpected Gathering 1x Goblin King Battle Lastly I BrickLinked a decent amount of orcs to round out my armies. I got: 8x Gundabad Orcs (new face paint from Bo5A set) 18x Orc Hunters (with new hair from Attack on Lake-town set) 20 bald Mordor Orcs
  7. Thanks! I got the 30 orcs I ordered in the mail the other day... but then I ordered another 20 Mordor Orcs so now I am waiting on them. I have a sickness Ultimately I would like to create a nice display like richchie did. Right now I have them all stored away in my closet in bins to keep them nice and clean. You can see the pictures of them in this thread. I would also like to order some misc armor pieces (mainly hats and helmets) to make them look a little more rag tag and not so uniform.
  8. By winter 2016, he means January/February. Still several months out, but hopefully we will get some pictures or something in the next few months to wet our appetites until then.
  9. Hmm... interesting results so far. I thought Helm's Deep would be the hands down winner but Orthanc is slightly edging it out atm. More surprising is how many people are bringing up Council of Elrond as their second favorite set considering that set seems to catch a lot of flak amongst AFOLs Personally, I really like Shelob Attacks and think that set gets over looked a lot. Of course I love Helm's Deep, but Mines of Moria is another favorite. The build isn't terribly interesting but it does include 4 exclusive minifigures plus an exclusive big fig. I would have to say my favorite is Uruk-hai Army though. It is one of the only really useful army builders we got in LotR with 4 Uruk-hai included. Plus it has a main character who is easily used as another common soldier and the build is pretty decent.
  10. As others have said, that set is long out of production so it's scarcity is the only reason it's price is going up so dramatically. That happens with most retired Lego sets. If you look at Lego's newest brick boxes though, the price is relatively close. That set I linked comes out to about 6 cents a brick, the 2008 set was a little under 5 cents a brick. The 1 cent per piece is just inflation since it's been 5-6 years between the two sets releases.
  11. Yes, the ones we have seen so far are... but the WM site had some of the new found sets listed at $60. I was pointing out the $60 price tag might be the actual price for some of those team and level packs if they are a little larger than the officially announced ones.
  12. I wish the Lord of the Rings theme would become evergreen and take the place of Castle
  13. Who knows. The "fun packs" are $15 and come with 35-60 pieces, a single minifigure, and a small build. The level packs are $30 and come with a minifigure, 2 builds, about 100 pieces and a game level. If the team packs have 2-3 minifigures, some in game content, and a fairly significant build (200+ pieces), then I could see them retailing for $60. That would be right on target with the other offerings...
  14. So with the LotR theme done (or close to it besides some "fun packs" through Dimensions and the slim possibility of an Ideas Minas Tirith), I thought it would be nice to see which set people like the most. Why do you like that particular set? Is it the minifigures, the build, the scene it's based on, or what?
  15. I am really digging the two new green raptors. The other colors not so much. I think they work pretty well with the Dino raptors.
  16. Aye I know, that's why I didn't put them on the list though. No one seems to know which ones they are from the blurry pictures.
  17. I agree, but I dunno if Lego would ever see it that way considering he never takes physical form outside the prologue. Lego doesn't seem terribly interested in doing flash back scenes either. We never got old Bilbo or Thror or Thrain from the Battle of Azanulbizar. We never got Girion or the dwarves who fought Smaug when he first arrived at Erebor. Personally I would rather see Sauron over Eowyn or the Witch King (unless he came with a Fel Beast), but that's just my own personal preference. One of YOUR favorite characters doesn't mean he is everyone elses' though. I am just saying, based on most of the wish lists and things I have seen on these forums, Treebeard isn't brought up that much. It's almost always Gondor/Minas Tirith with Eowyn, the Witch King, and Gondor Soldiers, and then the Balrog a close second. Those are the two constantly getting repeated and the sets that seem to be universally agreed on that we need. Anything else is gravy. You listed sets "we need", but really they are just what you want most, not us as a collective community. Treebeard is easily enough MOC'd from the Ent in Orthanc too. You literally can take 20 pieces or less and make the ent look exactly like Treebeard. It's not difficult at all. If we were to only get two sets I think most would agree they want something totally new rather than another Ent. Especially when we can already MOC the current one fairly easily and it would offer no new characters besides Grishnak (who isn't even that important). Why would you want another Ent who is so easy to create yourself and would offer nothing terribly new or exciting in terms of minifigures when you could get something like an Oliphant instead? I think the list of importance would go: Minas Tirith (with minimum Eowyn, Witch King on Fel Beast, and Gondor Soldiers. Faramir, Gothmog, Denethor, Merry Rohan, and Gondor Pippin would be icing on the cake) Balrog Gondor Army Builder (with more Gondor Soldiers that are massable outside an expensive MT set) Oliphant Treebeard and Sauron in a prologue set would make solid entries after these four.. in a fourth wave. Personally I want a Gondor Soldier Army builder, armored Mordor Orcs, a Fel Beast, and an Oliphant. I could care less if we get a Balrog, Minas Tirith, etc., but that's just my own personal opinion.
  18. I don't think there are many mountains in the Amazon, at least not in the middle of the forest part. Let alone houses built on them with window views, lol.
  19. I know when I was really young I had a lot of smaller, older sets. However, seeing as I never kept them assembled and since I was so young it's hard for me to remember exactly which they were. I just have the minifigures to remind me. When I got a little older I started to assemble them and keep them assembled. It's much easier for me to remember which of those sets I had. Heck, I still have some assembled in storage. They were: Castle 6020-1 - Magic Shop 6038-1 - Wolfpack Renegades 6007-1 - Bat Lord 6027-1 - Bat Lord's Catapult 6079-1 - Dark Forest Fortress 6056-1 - Dragon Wagon 6044-1 - King's Carriage 6090-1 - Royal Knight's Castle Western 6709-1 - Tribal Chief 6712-1 - Sheriff's Showdown 6706-1 - Frontier Patrol 6718-1 - Raindance Ridge 6748 - 1 - Boulder Cliff Canyon (or 6746-1- Chief's Tepee, can't remember which) 6755-1 - Sheriff's Lock-Up 6761-1 - Bandit's Secret Hide-Out 6765-1 - Gold City Junction 6766-1 - Rapid River Village Pirates 6204 - 1 Buccaneers 6244-1 Armada Sentry The entire Islanders subtheme (I remember being especially proud of this because I had them all and they were displayed on a shelf in my room) City (Town) 6517-1 - Water Jet 6546-1 - Slick Racer 6326-1 - Town Folk 6514-1 - Trail Ranger 6515-1 - Stunt Copter 6513-1 - Glade Runner 6350-1 - Pizza To Go (I specifically remember this one as I loved the pizza and little delivery cart) 6664-1- Chopper Cops 6614-1 - Launch Evac 1 6340-1 - Hook Ladder 6552-1 - Rocky River Retreat6 6561-1 - Hot Rod Club 6562-1 - Gas Stop Shop (I remember this set specifically because the tow truck rolled off the counter on to the floor and I didn't know this until the next day when the dog had chewed the tires... ) 4558-1 - Metroliner (I got this for Christmas and was ecstatic that year! I remeber watching it go around in circles for hours after I had built it, loading and unloading passengers with each pass. Unfortunately it broke apart when we moved and parts to it were lost...) I know I had a lot more pirate sets as I had huge gallon zip lock baggies full of pirates and a ship haul. I just never had them assembled. I also had several Backtron 2 Space sets but can't remember which ones as none of them were ever kept assembled either.
  20. Ever thought about just moving the face on Kingpin up a little? That way he wouldn't look like he had such a huge forehead and you could make his chin/neck a little fatter looking and more pronounced just by painting it?
  21. Pretty cool. I would just say, if you are going to use this technique in a MOC or something be careful of the perspective. The window should be looking out onto a plane, and closer to the ground, not an aerial shot from way above.
  22. I don't think those two sets would really be considered "must haves". The Treebeard set specifically offers nothing. You can easily mod the existing Ent with minimal effort to make him into Treebeard and we already have Merry and Pippin. Grishnak is hardly a must have character. While Sauron is really important, and a prologue set would be the only way we could really get him (outside of an alternate version in a Dol Guldur Hobbit set, or some sort of promo), I don't see that happening for a scene that occured hundreds of years ago, isn't current in the movie, and only takes up a few minutes. I feel like both of these would be forth wave sets if we ever got that far. A Mumakil/Oliphant set seems more likely than either of these... With that said, the biggest sets people seem to want are a Balrog and something Gondor (Minas Tirith) with Gondor Soldiers, Eowyn, and the Witch King. This could realistically be done in two sets. One big D2C or $100+ set could have a Eowyn, Faramir, the Witch King, a few Gondor Soldiers, and Fel Beast. Heck, you could throw in Rohan Merry, Gondor Pippin, Gothmog, and Denethor to really cover all the characters we are missing. A Balrog basically just needs the Balrog itself, the bridge, and Gandalf. A few more Moria Orcs would be icing on the cake. Personally I would like a Balrog, Minas Tirith, and an army builder add-on with some new armored Mordor Orcs, Gondor Soldiers, and Faramir in ranger garb who can double as a regular Ithilien Ranger. I think if fans got at least the Balrog and MT though, they would be pretty satisfied. Sure we would still be missing some characters and some scenes, but they are something I think most people can live without unlike Eowyn, the Witch King, Balrog, and Gondor Soldiers.
  23. Sorry, I am actually looking for the Undead from the LotR Pirate Ship Ambush set, set number 79008.
