I agree on the part where you say it's awesome, but I'll have to disagree about it recreating the "might of Rome". This MOC depicts a Greek temple complex according to me. The use of Spartans, plus its title seem to suggest this. Let's say it creates a "might of the Antiquity" feeling .

Eric frowned at Bacari's show of force. Not only did he falsely accuse Eric of trying to start a fight, now he was also pointing his crossbow at him. Eric chuckled at the irony. Those who had been trying to prevent any fighting from happening, were apparently seen as the instigators of all this now. "Put down the crossbow, boy, for your own sake. Let's try and keeps things decent here, shall we?" Eric said confidently, still sitting in his chair in a calm and relaxed way.

I took the liberty of creating some new pictures for Thrain Longbeard, Lego Pinocchio's character. Normal picture. [img=http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Khorne/Heroica/Other/thrain.jpg] Avatar, lined in blue to show your class (Knight) [img=http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Khorne/Heroica/Other/thrain_small.jpg] There you go! I hope it pleases you .

The atmosphere was getting tense. Everybody hungered for some combat, an occasion to put their skills to the test. Eric paid no attention to the troublemakers, safe for a small remark. "Calm down," he said in a calm, yet authoritarian voice. "You are acting like your a bunch of Barbarians, the kind that gives people like me a bad name".

Hearing pieces of the conversation the Elf and Halfling were having, Eric drank several beers. After all, sad stories about lost siblings had been told again. Eric had heard about the Elf's dislike for his kind, but decided to pay no heed to the insult. It was common for Southerners to be suspicious of the Norse, who wouldn't considering the tense relations between the two peoples? Southerners tended to look down upon those from the North, hell, they looked down upon all sorts of tribes whose culture was different to their own. In their eyes, they were nothing than pagan, illiterate savages who could not appreciate the finer things in life. "Oh how they were wrong," Eric thought and shook his head. He didn't care to expand upon the culture of his people and enlighten the minds of the others. Life was too short for him to be educating the ignorant.

First off, THIS IS NOT MY MOC! I take no credit for this, all credit should go to its builder Dan76. I found this via the Brothers-Brick and I wanted to share it here, so people who don't read Brothers Brick or visit brickshelf can gaze upon this beauty, too. (Picture = link to full gallery) What I like most is the curving theatre and the fact that the MOC is bustling with life. I love the philosophers discussing and the peasants minding their business. Feel free to share your thought . EDIT For those of you wondering, Nikaia Antipolis means something along the lines of 'Victory's fore-city'. Something like that . It probably means that this is some sort of temple complex, aimed at the goddess Athena Nike (goddess of victory), that you have to pass through before you get into the main city.

Wing Zero looks amazing . I love how he can turn into his flight mode . Job well done! Sandrock and Deathscythe look great, as well.

Sorry for the double post (again ). I made some progress and thus I have some pictures to share . I lengthened the ship by one hull piece. I think it looks much better now . I still need to replace some black parts with the proper dark red ones. Dark Red 2x8's or 10's sure are rare to find in big quantities . Interior shot showing the front side. Behind the stairs the Trident of Atlantis can be seen. In the background you can see the open landing ports. Interior shot of the rear. It's till pretty empty at the moment here. Maybe I'll turn it into some storage compartment . Detail shot of the outrigger's inside. The holes are where the oars will go. The benches for the rowers still need to get placed. Outside shot of the outrigger, here the oarholes are more visible. Aerial view featuring some lousy Photoshop work . So, whaddya think so far? Expect more updates this, or next, week. Normally I should be working on the rear soon .

Welcome K-Nut! I, too, was not familiar with the term "cheesehead" (being European, and all ). At first, I thought you were from the Netherlands, since "cheesehead" (or similiar cheese-related names) are nicknames we give Dutch people here (in Flanders, at least, I don't know if its a European thing or not ). No offence to the Dutchies meant, of course

Eric had a faint smile on his face as Tesni told the story behind her sword. He looked down as she finished and then to the right, where Godricsleif was seated. "Funny," Eric muttered, "that our swords share such a similar story" He looked back up again, his handing resting on his sword's elaborately decorated leather sheath. "Strange how only Barbarians seem to fully appreciate the company of a good sword and treat it with due respect" Eric stood up and unsheathed his sword, putting the sheath on the table. Sunlight ran along the blade's edge giving the blade a powerful and ethereal look. "It is truly a work of beauty as well," Tesni said, "even though I prefer my own." "To each his own" the tall Nord replied, his blond hair gleaming and bathing in sunlight.

Eric woke up, slowly opening his eyes. The world around him started to shape again, the blackness of sleep slowly, but surely, dissapating. His head felt light, but his arms were heavy. "Guess there is a maximum amount of beers a Norse Barbarian can take," he thought to himself, while rubbing his eyes. He noticed Tesni was once again cleaning her sword. "What does it mean?" he asked while resting his head on his arms. "What does what mean?" Tesni replied, not having noticed Eric waking up. She stopped cleaning the sword and looked at her tablemate, who seemed only half awake. "The name. Cryf, what's its meaning?" Eric asked again, raising his head.
-
I'm not Sandy, so my answer is just a guess, but I think you will be fully healed when sleeping. It's the easiest thing to do, I think, otherwhise you'll be stuck with calculating stuff again.
-
Barbarians can make fire and find nutrition easier, but it doesn't say anything about sleeping in the wild. It would seem logical if a Barbarian could sleep everywhere, but since no mention has been made of this, I already bought myself a bedroll. Should've waited, though . Could you elaborate on the finding nutrition easier, Sandy? Do we have a higher probability of finding food when going through crates or stuff?

Eric slowly pushed open the door and calmy stepped in the Heroica Hall again. He had done some shopping and had caught a fresh breath. He mind was clear again, though his veins most likely still pumped more alcohol than actual blood through them. He caught a glimpse of Tesni, her hair dripping. Having met her before, Eric decided to join her at her table. As the scent of freshly served food filled his nostrils, the Nord was once again hungry and ordered a meal himself. "How was the swim? I take it wasn't that bad since you look replenished with energy once again. See, the lowlands aren't that bad," Eric smiled, "enjoy your meal, by the way". He lifted his glass of ale and winked at his table companion before drinking it, finishing it to the bottom. "Yum, the food looks delicious as always" the Nord said as Scheherazade placed a steaming plate of hot food under his nose.

Eric wandered through the freshly renovated Marketplace. He needed some fresh air after indulging in huge quantities of alcohol. After browsing throught the wares the merchants had to offer, Eric decided to pick up a bedroll, even though he was deeply intrigued by the Mockthril shurikens. Too bad there was no imposter-Crusader around to buy some. He took out 5 gold and paid the Gnome. Even Barbarians liked to sleep comfortable at times.
-
That one is from LEGO Kingdom, the latest castle line. On the official website the sets and their names were superimposed over the map, but other than that there were no names on the map.
-
Eric's face brightened up. He chuckled. Not only did a fake-Crusading Knight barge in, he also happened to throw a shuriken AND buy beer, which was free. On top of that, he also rambled some drunk gibberish story about a long-lost brother. As required by the rules of the game. Eric chugged down a huge quantity of alcohol, downing one beer after the other. "Am I winning?," he said, wiping some beer off his chin and smiling satisfied.
-
Hahaha ! Though I don't think Rumble Strike meant "hitting on female Elves" literally .
-
No! The knight needs his shurikens, so Eric can have his five beers . Beer > realism Kidding, of course. I wouldn't want to turn this game into a joke.
-
OOC: The rules are here.
-
Eric was sitting at the bar. What looked like to be a fun drinking game turned out to be a drag. No one had tried to hit on a female Elf, nor did they want to buy rounds of free beer. His only chance of getting to drink some beer now rested with one of the newcomers that had come in, bearing news of the marketplace. It was a shady type of person, if Eric was lucky, this could be the shuriken-throwing fake-Crusader he was waiting for. Keeping his hopes up that it was indeed such a rare event that befell the Heroica Hall, Eric already ordered five beers in advance, as per the rules of the Heroica Drinking Game. The Nord observed the situation, eagerly awaiting its outcome.

Least Successful Collectable Minifig
Khorne replied to Mr. Elijah Timms's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Overall, I really like the Collectible Minifig Series. They are all a welcome addition to anyone's collection and you have to agree the series introduced a lot of cool accesoires and items that are unique to this line. But as always, every upside has its downside. This is also the case with these Collectibles. Not ALL of them can be the best, there are always some less good or innovative figures, but which ones depends on your personal tastes, of course. Of all Series, the first one was the least good one. At the time it hit the shelves, the concept was innovating and interesting, but when compared to the later Series, these figs aren't really all that interesting . Here's a rundown of which figs I think are the "worst": Series 1: Clown, diver, magician and ninja. They don't appeal to me at all. There just so common and easy to find in other lines (or build by using parts from existing lines). The clown just looks . Minifigs don't have noses !! Series 2: Circus ringmaster, skier and the witch. The ringmaster looks kind of meh and so does the skier, but the witch just looks plain ugly when compared to the witches and wizards you get in the Castle or Harry Potter line . Series 3: Race car driver and pilot are the biggest letdowns here . Series 4: One of the best Series, IMO . All of the figs look great and come with fantastic accesoires. The "worst" fig here would be the Gnome. I like the parts he comes with, but he's really tall for a garden Gnome, I mean he's the size of a LEGO kid . Series 5: Another great Series! These seem to get better as they progress in number. I think the fitness dancer is the weakest one here, but she does compliment the weightlifter greatly. -
Looks worth its money. Certainly if you're a player who wishes to take his game to friends. The cardboard map is also really nice, it'll definitely last longer than the regular paper one I believe is in the normal sets .

I can totally relate to how you feel! It's been a long, long time since I last made a good-looking MOC, so when I started building again, I also felt like I had no fantasy or creativity . What helped me get back into the mindset, is replicating stuff from photos or drawings (architecture or other things) and try to build them in LEGO. In that way, you get back into the whole creating things again and before you know it, you'll be building things you invented yourself. You just need a little boost at first . As to your MOC. It's a nice starter, but it lacks certain architectural details, something to break the simplicity. A simple column along the side, or something like that, would already work wonders, IMO. It's a real good start though, better than mine was .

Oooh, a map . I look forward to that . If you need any help, I can always help out, as I have made my fair share of maps in the past (eg. some maps for the old EBRP). Here's one I did for my own LEGO factions (coincidentally, that world is also named Heroica . EDIT Here's another Heroica map with notes pertaining to the other areas which's location was not yet given. (The pic is courtesy of member sidersdd, I found it via this topic.)
