8480 and in the near future will buy 42009 and 10234. When will move to new house will finally put together all my 35 technic sets :sweet:

1. Well, check some forums daily, about 1h overall, building time? Depends, some months could be all weekends, some never...usually build more on winter time, summer time do outdoor activities. 2. Depends, I'm always looking for old technic sets from 80s,90s so whenever I find a good deal I buy, then as far as new relases concern I buy them only if I like the model and lately I'm looking into Creator and Collectors side too. The best was 2 years a go when bought about 12 sets mixed from old,recent relases and recent out of production, this year just 2 and no new relases(wait prices go a bit down )

when don't know parts, I usually look for sets inventories where these parts are and then got their numbers, battery for example look for it into electric parts catalogue, wheels into wheels and tyre assembly and so on.. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogTree.asp?itemType=P

Born in 1980, got some duplo from someone then got a couple of space sets in mid 80's then in '88 for birthday got my 1st technic set, 8855, was so cute! Then 8825 and then in early 90's,think '94, stopped playing. I went back into Lego and technic I think around 2007-8 when decided to buy the technic sets I used to see in the catalogues in the mid 80's(starting from 8849..looked at it so so many times at that time....then the arctic collection...then 8868,8856...).Haven't already bought all these old sets but bought a lot of new ones too, started with 8043 and 8110 then 8288, 8258 and so on... So I guess I stayed away from lego about 13 or14 years. Overall been assembling 11 years plus '08 till now..so 16 years. As far as the future concers...don't know, maybe I would not stop, but who knows.. now I'm into it for sure!! Memories? As said before,countless hours of my early childhood watching technic sets on the catalogues..most of all I remember 8849, and the arctic collection..8856 and 8868 that recreated the fork just looking it...and remember go to the local store buying the LEGO SERVICE parts..wheels,air cylinders, differentials..downstairs there was a white door and behind that a portion of wall with all the service white bags hanged on, I just had to choose which one to buy :wub: :wub: ""One of the best part regarding sets is that being AFOL and having a salary means I can always buy the flagship sets."" so true, that's the best, when you work and can spend money on your passion/s and obviously internet era with sites like this where you can learn a lot of things to improve your abilities and building knowlage. I'm keen on motorcycles, own 2 bikes and ride them usually on Summer time, then cycling and photography.

Or to operate a bucket or a fork turntable so we need just the wire connection and not an axle...

If you're looking for 2nd hand sets, have a look on ebay.de , in Germany, you can find a lot of bargains, just have to wait the right one;) I bought most of my sets there. Cheers

Nice way to come out of dark ages!! Not build these models should be a pity, find some time As far as housing them, I suggest to find a close cabinet with glass doors to avoid dust and place it shaded from direct light to avoid discolouring. Have fun!

Although I have to buy 42009 and 10234 I don't think about 2014 but a grader would be very appreciated!

I'm a Technic fan, been in Sydney and like so much the Opera House so I think I'm gonna buy this set for sure. I just bought my own house and although I plan to build a showcase for my Lego's and diecasts I must consider Opera House dimensions :laugh: :grin: .

I like to keep all boxes as they are, i'll never destroy or flat them even because I store them in my attic. Instead of destroy them why don't you sell them?

Great reviews and discussions on this page. Is possible to modify the set and rotate the superstructure with the L motor without adding another motor? And, a bit off topic :cry_happy: , do you think we can use these outriggers in the 8258? Asked Sariel on his fb page but he doesn't know although hasn't 8258 :grin: . Thanks

In my opinion, if you're even interested to build moc's, you should see what a set has to offer in term of parts even of what the set model is so I would say: 41999 you told you try to get, good choice, is a limited edition set so good investment for the future and you'll have 2L, 1M and a 1 Servo motor, 1 V2 IR receiver, 1 switch and 1 Led lights and 1 controller, 1 pf battery box of course, plus shocks, 4 big wheels, 4 steering portal axles, 2 differentials, some panels and liftarms in orange and white and gears......and the blue new color....and other... 8043 tracks and all that concerns with them, turntable, 4 linar actuators, 4M motors, 2 V1 IR receivrers, a lot of gears, a lot of yellow and black parts... 8110 4 big wheels, shocks, 4 steering portal axles, 4 pneumatic switches, 2 big pneumatic cylinders, 1 small and 1 pneumatic pump, hoses, 1M motor, 2 differentials and 1 central differential, turntable, lot of gears, parts in orange and red..fake motor.....and other... 42009 10 wheels, 1L motor, lot of yellow parts and panels, 4 mini linear actuators, 2 linear actuators, lot of gears...and other..... I just write about some parts...as already suggested you can check every set's parts on bricklink.com inventory. And obviously use bricklink to get some parts instead of buy a complete set or buy it if you want it for display I personally like even the 9397 that has 6 wheels, 1 linear actuator and 1 small one, 1M motor, lot of black and grey parts, gears, 1 differential, fake motor, 1 turntable and 1 small...... If you think to buy classic sets there are some topics about them, as must have technic sets, or favourite technic sets or the famous polls about favourite technic sets divided by years, 80s, 90s,00s... As far as I'm concerned, I already have 9398, i like the new body design(love us muscle cars :wub: :wub: ) but not so much the colors combination between body and frame, so maybe will buy parts to built it in other colors(black-red-white maybe) and exchange old body with new one for display. Adding to this, I just bought my own house(where finally gonna have a serious display and lego room) and must ask some money to some fu... bank...so prefere to put my money in the 42009 in a couple of months . For sure, if I haven't the 9398 I would buy the 41999 straight away so could have a limited edition and then buy parts to build the 9398 body(less expensive than buy 2 sets :laugh: )

As far as the outriggers, I think we can modify them as the ones used in the 42009. Haven't already built my 2nd hand 8258 and haven't already buy the 42009 but saw reviews and lot of pics and think the new otriggers could fit the truck. Hope to read something about that possible mod in the near future
